Fantastic food as always, the lamb chettinad in particular is amazing. Great service from lovely, friendly staff. Only flaw was the kulfi icecream.. there were 4 of us and we all thought it tasted like soap! Wouldn't order that again but everything else was excellent.

Bay Restaurant
369 Clontarf Road, Dublin 3, Clontarf, Dublin

I had been here for lunch before and really enjoyed it. On this occasion we had brunch and I ordered the savoury french toast which comes with pulled pork, melted brie and bacon, and it was one of the best things I've ever eaten! The full Irish looked good too, it was huge. Service is great, coffee is good, and it's a lovely cosy place, can't recommend it highly enough. Can't wait to go back!

Farm Restaurant (Dawson Street)

Ate here during Dine in Dublin week. The menu was great value and I think between our group of 6 we ordered almost everything on the menu and everyone was really happy with their meal. Service was great.

Belluccis
22-30 Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Have been here for lunch several times and have never been disappointed. Always hard to decide what to order because everything is so good, but favourites are the carbonara, the pollo marsala and the steak sandwich. Staff are really lovely. Highly recommend.

FIRE Restaurant and Lounge
Mansion House, Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin

Excellent food, excellent service, lovely atmosphere. Live music in the bar before dinner was so good that we returned to the bar after dinner and stayed until closing! Fantastic night overall, will definitely return.

Cleaver East By Oliver Dunne
6-8 East Essex Street, , Temple Bar, Dublin 2 , Temple Bar, Dublin

Comfort food at fine dining prices. Starters were ok, steaks were perfectly cooked but were really really salty, side dishes were tasty, desserts were nice. Overall presentation was only ok, few too many mason jars! Waitresses are in tshirts and bathrooms were dirty and had no handsoap for the whole evening that we were there. Fine in a casual restaurant, but these guys are not charging casual restaurant prices. Service, again only ok, cocktails took about 30 mins to arrive and we were served the wrong ones, orders had to be confirmed several times because waitress kept forgetting what we ordered and there were a couple of mistakes on the bill. Actually got a shock when we got the bill because based on the food, service and general ambiance/experience, it was outrageously expensive.

Peploes Wine Bistro
16 St Stephen's Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

Went on a Friday night with my boyfriend to celebrate my birthday. Brie to start was delicious but himself didn't like the sauce on his scallops. He loved his sirloin steak for main course though. I ordered the marrow crusted fillet, it was perfectly cooked but the marrow crust had a very strong flavour and overpowered the steak so I scraped it off. The menu said it came with pepper sauce but I got a jus, I didn't mind but would have preferred the pepper sauce. Mash was delicious. Side of onion rings was enormous! We shared lemon meringue tart for dessert which was nice but not any better than you'd get somewhere else for a quarter of the price! There's a large but somewhat limited wine list in that it's mostly French and Italian wines, there are no "new world" wines on the list which I found a bit old fashioned! Service was excellent and the restaurant was full and pleasantly noisy.

Vermilion
94-96 Terenure Road, Dublin 6 , Terenure, Dublin

Without a doubt one of the best restaurants in Dublin. I never usually order lamb, but their lamb chettinad is one of the best things I've ever eaten, a week later I'm still dreaming about it!! The food is not cheap however it is well worth the money, and the wine list is reasonable. Can't wait to go back!

Beeftro - Balfe Street
5 Balfe St, City Centre South, Dublin

Starters of chorizo bread and chicken wings were absolutely delicious, burgers and chips were really good and the house red was very nice. The star of the show was the salted caramel and pecan sundae, exceptional!

Il Caffe di Napoli
41 Westland Row, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I’ve been here for lunch before and it was nice, but I had breakfast today and it was very poor. Ordered the full breakfast.. bacon was rock hard, no tomato or mushrooms despite being listed on the menu, only one sausage which was sliced in half to look like two on the plate! Only one slice of toast, had to pay extra for more. No ketchup available. Also very slow service despite only one other customer ordering food at the same time. My friend had an omelette which was apparently nice so I guess I was unlucky with my choice!

Joels Restaurant
Newlands Cross, Naas Road, West Dublin, Clondalkin, Dublin

I have mixed feelings about Joels! The décor is crying out for an update and the menu is far too big.. you can't possibly do everything on your menu well when you're serving so many different cuisines. However, I had one of the best fillet steaks I've ever eaten on a recent visit! It came with two sauces and a choice of potatoes or chips (although they don't do baked potatoes in summer which I thought was odd!). My boyfriend had chorizo pasta which wasn't great, sauce was nice but pasta was overcooked and mushy. We were with a group and most were happy with their meal. Staff were lovely and service was good. We were a bit miffed that we weren't allowed to cut the birthday cake we brought, we would have been happy to pay a service fee to cut it, and no one at the table had dessert anyway so it wasn't like the restaurant would have been out of pocket by letting us cut our cake!

Paulie's Pizza
58 Grand Canal Street, Dublin 4, City Centre South, Dublin

I had been here a couple of times before and liked it but not loved it. But I went last night and had one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten!! I was with a large group, several of us ordered the special "Barry's Pizza" which was seriously delicious. Everyone else had a variety of different pizzas and everyone was happy. Excellent friendly service also, and a great atmosphere. It's just a pity they don't open for lunch!

Zaragoza
South William St., Dublin , South William Street, Dublin

Love this place!! Delicious food, excellent service and great atmosphere even when it's quiet somehow! The decor and layout is lovely and they have a fantastic looking glass room at the back which would be great for parties. It's actually hard to choose highlights because everything was good but the chicken wings, pig burger and duck in filo pastry were excellent. Also really enjoyed the sundried tomato tapenada. If I was being fussy I'd admit I probably wouldn't order the tortilla with peppers again as it was a little bit bland, but there are so many other things on the menu that I want to try. Lovely friendly staff and a great wine list top it off. Will definitely be back soon.

Pasta Fresca
2-4 Chatham Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Enjoyed my meal at Pasta Fresca, we ordered bruschetta for two and two pizzas, pepperoni and hawaiian, nothing fancy! Food was good but not amazing and is a bit pricey. I would go back, but there are so many good restaurants around it, I have to say it doesn't really stand out.

profile_review

Cortina’s Mexican Restaurant
The Pembroke District, Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin

Probably the worst meal I've ever had in my life, very shocked to see positive reviews below. I rarely leave bad reviews but this place is really awful. We ordered totopos con chile to start which we were told were the equivalent of nachos with the usual toppings. What arrived at the table was a bowl of tortilla chips with the tiniest bit of cheese, lots of shredded chicken, and half of the bowl was covered in a watery red salsa, and half in a watery green salsa. The salsas tasted ok but as they were watery the bowl was half-full of liquid which the soggy tortillas floated in. None of the usual guacamole, sour cream, jalapenos, etc. Overall it was really unpleasant. For mains I ordered the b52 burrito, which arrived wrapped in tinfoil with nothing on the side, as if ordered from a takeaway van on the side of the road! It was filled with tonnes of lettuce which it did not say on the menu, and I really don't like lettuce. As we were under pressure to make the cinema after dinner, my boyfriend swapped with me rather than sending it back. So I ended up eating his tacos which, frankly, were disgusting and left mostly uneaten. It was a mixed platter with different meats and I will say that the pork was tasty, but the beef and lamb were vile and the chicken wasn't great. They were all covered in queso fresco which was disgusting. The tacos were served open on a large plate so it was all stone cold within about 2 minutes. I left Cortina's hungry and annoyed that we'd paid for such poor quality food. Also zero atmosphere and unfriendly, miserable looking staff. This place literally has no redeeming qualities, AVOID.

The Port House
64a South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Nice restaurant with a great atmosphere. Some of the food is really good (meatballs in particular), some is fairly average but it's reasonable and they have a good selection. Drinks are pricey though. Food was served quickly but we were waiting a while whenever we ordered drinks, however it was very busy when we were there. Staff are very friendly.

Pizza E Porchetta
The Malting Tower, Grand Canal Quay, Dublin 2 , IFSC, Dublin

Had lunch here recently to celebrate a colleague's birthday. Great service and friendly staff. I didn't really like the pizza I ordered but the quality of the food was good so I would try it again. We got bread with lovely homemade pesto while we read the menus and that was delicious. And they do the best coffee!

The Mint Bar
The Westin Hotel, College Green, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

Recently had a family meal in The Mint Bar, the food was absolutely excellent and very good value for what we got. Cocktails were delicious. However, the service was fairly poor. The staff are lovely and friendly.. when you can actually find them! We had to go looking for someone to take our order for food and for drinks a few times. But we weren't waiting long on food once ordered and they allowed us to bring a cake and served it up to us which was great.

Brasserie Sixty6
66/67 Great South Georges Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

The atmosphere is the best thing about this restaurant, it's brilliant. The food is also very good and we had great service from a lovely Brazilian girl who gave lots of advice on the menu and wine list. The desserts were particularly good, we had 3 different ones at the table and 2 of the group who don't usually eat desserts declared them the best desserts they'd ever had! Brace yourself for the main course portions, they're enormous! Will definitely be back.

profile_review

The Market Bar
Fade Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Hard to beat the atmosphere here but the tapas is average at best. Food started to arrive at the table within 5 minutes of ordering which should tell you something. Patatas bravas were frozen potato cubes and nacho toppings are from a jar. Chorizo was horrible and rubbery. But it is cheap and cheerful and you get what you pay for.

profile_review

Tap House
60 Ranelagh, Ranelagh, Dublin

Food is average and not cheap, and the wine is overpriced for what you get. Great atmosphere but they don't take bookings and it's difficult to get a table on a Saturday evening. Will stick to drinks next time, won't be rushing back for the food.

Harrys on the Green
2 King St South, City Centre South, Dublin

Have been here for drinks a few times and always liked it, so we booked the barbeque package for a friend's birthday. Excellent value, food was nice. But what really makes this place is the staff, cannot say enough good things about them. Every staff member we encountered throughout the night were really friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this place for parties. Fantastic cocktails also.

The Old Orchard Inn
76 Butterfield Avenue, Rathfarnham, Rathfarnham, Dublin

Been going here for years and it had developed a reputation for terrible food, however I heard they had a new chef so made a couple of visits during December and got great food on both occasions. First visit was for dinner and I had the roast chicken and ham with stuffing, and it was absolutely delicious, although they were a bit mean with the mash. Second visit was for lunch and I had the cajun chicken ciabatta which was great. Always been a great pub but now it's definitely worth a visit for the food too.

JD's Steakhouse
4 Rathfarnham Road, Dublin 6W, Terenure, Dublin

It's a couple of years since I'd been to JD's and I'd always thought their food was excellent in the past, but unfortunately on this occasion I was left a bit disappointed. I went with a group and we all ordered from the early bird menu, which has a great range of choices and appears fairly reasonable at €18 for starter and main course. Between us we ordered nearly all of the starters and a good few of the mains. No one raved about their food. I had chicken wings to start which were only ok, very little seasoning on them and they weren't crispy, the skin on them was slimy and greasy so I had to remove it. The lasagne for main course was seriously average at best, very very bland. The chunky chips that came with it were awesome though. One person had JD's chicken which she seemed to enjoy but other than that it was kind of average all round. No one wanted dessert but it was someone's birthday so we ordered the mousse cake dessert for her which came out with candles and they played music which was great, although the cake again was only ok. So overall I'm disappointed, don't know if I'll go back, definitely wouldn't be happy to pay full price anyway.

Milano (Baggot Street)
1 - 2 Haddington Road, Dublin 4, City Centre South, Dublin

Had lunch here in a group of about 8 people. When we booked the table we were advised to order in advance to avoid delays, which we did. On arrival at the restaurant we were seated straight away and given drinks and everything, and after about 10 minutes of sitting waiting on our food, one of the waitresses came over and asked us if we wanted our food now! So then we had to waited about another 10 mins, so much for pre-ordering! I had the cannelloni which was nice, small enough portion though. We shared dough balls which were pretty dull. Everyone else had pizza and there were no complaints.

profile_review

Blue Orchid Stepaside
The Village, Stepaside, Stepaside, Dublin

Ate here on a Monday evening, unfortunately there were only two other people in the restaurant so I can't really say there was much of an atmosphere, however that is the only remotely bad thing I can say about this little gem of a place! There were two of us and we had the early bird menu, 3 courses for €17, what value! We had the platter for 2 to start, and they were nice enough to swap the prawn toast for chicken satay which was delicious, as were the spring rolls and chicken dumplings. Red chicken curry and lamb massaman curry for mains, both really good but the massaman was excellent. Good generous portions. Both had cheesecake for dessert, not the best I've ever had but it was a nice light cheesecake so perfect to finish off the meal because we were pretty full by the time dessert arrived. Staff were lovely and very attentive without being in your face. Bathroom was immaculate. I'm not often in the area but next time I'm in Stepaside I'll be back!

Rolys Bistro
7 Ballsbridge Terrace, Dublin, Ballsbridge, Dublin

I hadn't been to Roly's in a couple of years and found myself a little bit disappointed on this occasion. I bought the Menupages offer of 3 courses for 2 people for €40 which was great value. I thought we would be able to order from the A La Carte but we were given the set menu, although still great value as the set menu is €35 a head I believe. We both had the duck wantons to start which were nice enough, not amazing. I had the lamb pie and my friend had the goats cheese tart. The pie was lovely and tasty, but not really any better than what you'd get in a pub. I tried the goats cheese tart, didn't like it at all but my friend enjoyed it. We got boring boiled potatoes and veg on the side. Sticky toffee pudding for dessert was a bit dry. The brownie cheesecake was nice. We had 2 carafes of house wine, one red, one white, and I had a tea, and our bill on top of the voucher was €40, so even with the voucher it came to €80. An enjoyable evening but wouldn't be prepared to pay full price. The best part of the meal was the bread! Service was great though as always.

profile_review

La Bodega Tapas y Vinos
93 Ranelagh Village, Dublin 6 , Ranelagh, Dublin

Great food, great wine list, great atmosphere, ok service. Went with a group so tried a good few tapas including chicken wings, meatballs, chicken skewers, chorizo with chickpeas, patatas bravas and spanish omelette, all really good. I don't like seafood so I loved that they had a really great selection of non-seafood tapas which a lot of tapas restaurants don't have.

The Exchequer
3-5 Exchequer Street, City Centre South, Dublin

I'd been to The Exchequer a couple of times just for drinks and liked it well enough except for the battered armchair which ripped my dress on one occasion! Anyway this time I went for food and had the best meal I've had in ages! I had the lamb which I would never usually order and it was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and served with a great assortment of veg, so great in fact that I even thought I didn't need the roast potatoes that came with it, and I never say that about a carb!! It took a while to be served as it is cooked to order but I didn't mind at all because the waiter had told me that in advance. My friend had the duck wellington and was equally impressed, although was a bit upset not to get any potatoes but I was happy to share mine! Staff were really really friendly and chatty. Will definitely be back, can't wait to try the Sunday roast!

profile_review

The Bank on College Green
20-22 College Green, City Centre South, Dublin

Ate here on a Wednesday evening, was fairly busy so a decent buzz in the place. Had the half roast chicken which was very tasty. Good selection of wine by the glass. Overall a good spot for a bite to eat during the week.

Millers Pizza Kitchens
50 Upper Baggot Street, Dublin 4, City Centre South, Dublin

I had lunch here with a big group from work and everyone ordered pizza except me! The pizzas all looked lovely, and the topping and base options are great, I've never seen anything like them before! I had the chicken fajita wrap which was really tasty, I would definitely go back and order it again. It was served with delicious homemade wedges with sweet chilli sauce and sour cream which was a nice alternative to ketchup and garlic mayo! Our waiter was so obnoxious it was actually funny. He didn't deal well with the lunchtime rush. But I will be back for the food.

ely winebar
22 Ely Place, (Just off St. Stephen’s Green), Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Great atmosphere and excellent wine list. I had brocolli and cauliflower soup to start which was nice, and bangers and mash for main. The mash and onion gravy was lovely, the sausages were dry and coarse and the skin was very thick on them.

KC Peaches Pearse Street
Unit 10A Trinity Enterprise Centre, Pearse Street, Dublin 2 , Grand Canal Dock, Dublin

Have been here for lunch a couple of times, good salad selection and nice soup. Bit pricey but around the same as other places in the area and better food than many. I'm a big fan of their couscous.

Saba
26-28 Clarendon Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

This was my second visit to Saba, was totally underwhelmed the last time I went (had phad thai on that occasion and was disappointed, as was a friend who had it on this visit), enjoyed it more second time round but still don't really get the hype about this place. Lunch menu is good value at €16 for 2 courses and there was a great buzz in the place at 3pm on a Saturday. Staff were friendly but we had to chase them down a few times to get water, more drinks, etc. For my starter I had sweet potato and corn fritters which were nice, hadn't tried anything like that before. For main course I had green chicken curry, was grand, didn't set my world alight or anything. One of my friends had massaman curry which was much nicer, I had serious food envy. After the meal I had the cheesecake cocktail which was revolting. I would go back for lunch again for the value and atmosphere, but at full price I don't think I'd be bothered. There's much better Thai food to be had in Dublin.

Milano (Dawson Street)
38 Dawson Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Hadn't been to Milanos in years as my last visit (not this Milanos) was not good. However I'm happy I went back because my pizza on this occasion was delicious (I had the polla ad astra) and the rosemary flatbread was also lovely. I was with a large group and there were no complaints, service was good, wine was good. Will definitely be back.

The Good Bits
Store Street, City Centre North, Dublin

The food here makes this place a gem, unfortunately it's very much a hidden gem as on the two occasions I have eaten here it's been totally empty! But then I've only been for lunch so maybe it's busier in the evening. That aside, the tapas rivals and even beats some of the "best" tapas restaurants in Dublin. On my first visit I had a chicken panini which was lovely and served with a large portion of patatas bravas. The second time I went with a large group and we all availed of their lunch special of 3 tapas for €10. I had the spanish omelette which was unreal, and chicken wings which were also delicious, along with their excellent patatas bravas. Others in the group raved about the prawns, meatballs, and chicken skewers, everyone was very happy. The portions are really generous so it really is excellent value.

Salvador Restaurant
9 High Street, Killarney, Kerry

I went to Salvador early on a Saturday evening with 3 friends. Myself and one of my friends shared our starters so I tried the deep fried brie (very nice although would have preferred something fruity with it instead of the tikka masala sauce! very odd) and the chicken wings (good sized portion but wings were burnt). Other friends had vegetable soup, which was more like baby food it was so thick, and mushrooms which I'm told were nice. Three of us had lasagne as a craving had driven us to choose Italian for dinner in the first place! Portions were huge but it was very dry and very bland. Other friend had chicken with spinach and bacon and she was very happy with it. Overall we had mixed opinions but I was very disappointed and would not return. The service was ok, no one came near us once the food was served to ask how everything was, we had to chase them for more drinks.

Kanum Thai
16 Orwell Rd, Dublin 4, Rathgar, Dublin

I ordered a takeaway for delivery on a Sat night, it took an hour and 40 mins to arrive! Apparently the delivery guy was new n got lost on every delivery that night so there was a backlog! In fairness to the manager after I rang to complain about the wait he was very apologetic and gave us the entire meal for free, and I have to say the food was absolutely delicious. The Phad Thai was up there with the best I've ever had, and the Massaman Curry was also really good. So in spite of the wait on this occasion I will order from Kanum again and hope it's quicker next time, because the food is so good!

profile_review

Wongs of Ranelagh
7 Sandyford Road, Ranelagh, Ranelagh, Dublin

The first time I ate here was 9 years ago and I thought it was awful. 9 years later and it's no better! Some of the sauces on the dishes are nice but the quality of the meat is terrible, it really could be anything. The only dish I liked was a crispy beef dish but it was really just strips of batter, no idea if there was any beef in it! The service is very good and you can bring your own wine (€10 corkage) but the food is a disaster, honestly any local takeway does better food. Needless to say I won't be back!

profile_review

Johnnie Fox's Pub
Glencullen, Dublin Mountains, Glencullen, Dublin

Fantastic pub, great live music. Unfortunately I don't like seafood and I think there were only one or two things on the menu that didn't involve some sort of fish! I had the steak sandwich which wasn't bad but it doesn't come with anything (they don't do chips at all) so I wasn't full after it. I was with a large group of people who had various seafood dishes and all were happy but the dishes were small and pretty expensive. I'll definitely go back to the pub but not for the food.

Thai Spice
3A Talbot Place, Dublin 1 , City Centre North, Dublin

This place is great, I go for lunch all the time and it's always busy. I always book in advance if there's more than 2 of us going because you wouldn't always get a table if you just walk in off the street. I eat a lot of Thai food and I'd consider this to be up there with the most popular Thai restaurants in Dublin. Their chicken with cashew nuts is delicious. Huge portions, reasonable prices, fast service. I've never been for dinner in the evening but they have a set dinner menu that's great value.

profile_review

Le Bon Crubeen
81-82 Talbot Street, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin

Had lunch here recently, the starters didn't really appeal to me so I just ordered the mixed dips with bread which turned out to be really good, great hummous and salsa. Steak was lovely and perfectly cooked. Mango cheesecake for dessert was also nice. So no complaints about the food. However there was a really bad smell in the restaurant that came in bursts every now and again. At first we thought it was the toilets but on inspection the toilets were immaculate. Not sure what it was! So I would go back for the food but the bad smell would turn me off.

Koh
6-7 Jervis Street, Millennium Walkway, Dublin 1, City Centre, Italian Quarter, Dublin

I've been to Koh 3 times now and have already booked my next visit, it has become one of my favourite restaurants in Dublin. The food is delicious, especially the chicken cashew nut dish. The early bird menu is great value, perfect for dinner after work and a couple of cocktails in the bar after! The booths are great for a large group however the waiters can tend to forget about you in there and you might have to go look for someone to order a drink!

A great restaurant! The food is delicious, steak melts in your mouth and I'm told the monkfish is lovely but I don't eat seafood myself. The sticky toffee pudding is gorgeous comfort food. Portions are really generous which is unusual in this kind of restaurant. Service is excellent, no complaints at all! This was my second visit and I'll definitely be back.

La Cuvee @ Eno Wine Bar
1 Burton Hall, Mayor Square, IFSC, City Centre North, Dublin

I went here with a small group from work for a long lunch having heard great things from some friends who had been. Most of us had the steak, which I thought was only ok, it was a bit fatty and I asked for it cooked medium but it was definitely more like rare. The chips were nice and pepper sauce was good although a bit stingey so I asked for more which was no problem. One of the girls had the green chicken curry which she said wasn't great. Our food came out very quickly but after that we were almost completely forgotten, we had to wave frantically to get someone's attention to order dessert, and then after waiting about 20 mins we had to ask for it and they had clearly forgotten, so we waited about another 15 mins after that. I wouldn't mind but there were only 2 other small tables in the restaurant at the time and 3-4 staff members wandering around! The chocolate brownie dessert was delicious. I might consider going back but not if I only had an hour for lunch!

Sawadee Thai
94 Terenure Road East, Dublin 6, Dublin 6w, Terenure, Dublin

The food at this restaurant is divine and really good value for the quality. Service was great, lovely wine. My only complaint is that when I was there there was a high-pitched ringing sound coming from somewhere that was really irritating!! But the food is so good I'd still go back!

profile_review

Vermilion
94-96 Terenure Road, Dublin 6 , Terenure, Dublin

I went here in a group of 4 at the weekend and we all went for the early bird menu. It's good value at €20 for 2 courses however the portions are smaller than usual. For example I had veggie samosas to start and you usually get two but on the early bird you get one. I had plenty but I don't have a very big appetite! The food was lovely though, I tried everyone's starters and mains, the beef pepper starter was lovely. I wouldn't trust the chillies as a measure of the spiciness of the dish though, as the beef pepper starter had two chillies and pepper chicken main had three, and the beef pepper was way hotter! Service is excellent and the restaurant is really cosy and spacious, the tables aren't on top of each other. Will definitely return.

Indian Brasserie
Butterfield Avenue, Rathfarnham Village, Rathfarnham, Dublin

I've only ever gotten food to go so have never tried the buffet, but the takeaway food is amazing so I'm sure the buffet is too! The set menu for two is fantastic value, there's enough food for at least 3 people. Best veggie samosas I've ever had, and the chicken jalfrezi, tikka masala and madras are all delicious. And their potato curry is gorgeous too. Definately the best takeaway in the area so I'll be trying the buffet soon!

Lagoona Bar & Restaurant
Mayor Square, IFSC, City Centre North, Dublin

I've been here a few times for lunch as I work nearby and each time I've tried something different hoping it will be better than the last time. No such luck. Soup was ok but bread was stale. Ditto the time I had a sandwich. Twice I tried main courses with rice and both times there were bits of uncooked rice in with the cooked rice and I almost broke my tooth on it. The only good thing about this place is that the chefs are very friendly at the carvery counter!

Siam Thai (Andrews Street)
14/15 Andrews Street, City Centre South, Dublin

I went to Siam Thai with a large group for a birthday party and we had a great night, service was fantastic and food was lovely. We had a few of the combos to start, spring rolls and chicken satay were lovely. Only thing is they are quite small even though they say they're for two people. I had the chillies and thai herbs stirfry with chicken and noodles for my main course which was lovely, very spicy. Portions are a decent size. We had bottles of the house red and white and both were really nice. The staff were brilliant, very friendly and efficient.

Bodkins
Kings Valley Hotel, Merlin Park, Dublin Road, Galway City, Galway

Stayed in this hotel over New Year's and had two meals here, lunch and dinner. The first thing I will say is that service is painfully slow! We were waiting about 20 mins in an almost empty bar/restaurant before we could place our order! But then once we'd ordered the food didn't take too long to appear, but we had to go looking for someone to get more drinks, ketchup, etc. Anyway for dinner there were 4 of us and we shared the platter for 2 to start which was nice, good selection on it. I had the steak with pepper sauce for my main which was was more rare than I would have liked but the pepper sauce was lovely. Lunch the next day was more successful, even slower service (I actually resorted to buying crisps from the vending machine so we didn't die of starvation while we waited!) but lovely sambos and you get loads of chips with them. I probably would go back because the hotel was great value but if I wasn't staying there I wouldn't be rushing there for the food!

L'Osteria Da Roberta
157 Upper Salthill, Salthill, Galway

I was in Galway over New Year's last year and loved this little pizzeria so had to go back this year, only to find it has been transformed into a lovely big bustling restaurant! And the food was even better than last year! There were 8 at our table and we experienced great service, and we didn't feel rushed out the door or anything. We all had a variety of brushettas and garlic breads to start which were lovely. I can't remember what my main course was called but it was penne with chicken and mushrooms in a pesto cream sauce, and was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had!! Everyone else raved about their meals too. We had icecreams and chocolate fondants for dessert and literally had to be rolled out afterwards!! Overall a fantastic restaurant and I will definitely be back next time I'm in Galway.

Merry Ploughboy Pub
Edmondstown Road, Rockbrook, Rathfarnham, Dublin

Had a lovely meal here on Christmas Eve. There were seven of us in the group so we had a wide variety of dishes on the table and everyone said their's was delicious. I had the brie starter which was gorgeous and really different to the usual deep-fried block with coulis that you get everywhere else. The fillet steak was perfectly cooked and the potato rosti with it was lovely, and we had extra mash, chips, and veg on the table, all very nice. Didn't have dessert as I couldn't have fit it in! Only slight complaint was that at the time they had run out of about 7 things on the menu, and also service was a little rushed and we ordered drinks that never arrived. However it was Christmas Eve and I'm sure the staff were just dying to get home! Overall a really nice meal, and there's a great atmosphere in the place so I will definitely be back!

ely bar & brasserie
CHQ Building, Georges Dock, Dublin 1, City Centre, IFSC, Dublin

I had been here before with work where we had a set menu with only a couple of options and was not too impressed that time. However, on this visit with the whole lunch menu to choose from it took me ages to decide what to have because the whole menu sounded lovely! I eventually went for the burger and it was really nice, and came with lovely big chips.

Captain America's Cookhouse and Bar (Tallaght)
Unit A3 Tallaght Cross Dublin 24, Tallaght, Dublin

Chicken wings were great, but my cheeseburger was bland and I got bored eating it. McDonald's is better! One of the best chocolate brownies I've ever tasted though! Service was good if a bit in your face. The menu is pretty limited. Overall it's ok but I wouldn't be rushing back.

Peploes Wine Bistro
16 St Stephen's Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

This is possibly my favorite restaurant in Dublin! I've been a couple of times and the food is amazing, the service is great and there's a great buzz in the place, even at lunchtime. It is expensive but you get what you pay for and I reckon it's worth it!

Fortune Restaurant
Unit 6 Woodstown Shopping Centre, Ballycullen Road, Knocklyon, Firhouse, Dublin

Nice food, very friendly staff and you can see into the kitchen and it's very clean. However I think they probably put a LOT of msg into their food as I have found it leaves you very bloated!!

Hard Rock Cafe
12 Fleet Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

Went here recently for the first time in a couple of years and it has definitely slipped a bit, starters were good but main courses were only ok. Service not great, we weren't finished our starters when they brought the main courses n then we were kind of ignored until the bill came! Great cocktails though!

Il Vignardo
Beresford Hotel, 21 Store Street, City Centre North, IFSC, Dublin

I've been here a few times for lunch and the food is divine! I highly recommend the Pollo al Pesto! The garlic breads and bruschetta are lovely as starters. Food is great value, service could be better though. They are quick to take your order and serve your food but not so good at coming back to check on you so you might have to go looking for someone if you want another drink! But it's definitely worth a visit for the pasta!

Wallace's Enoteca Delle Langhe
Blooms Lane, City Centre, Italian Quarter, Dublin

This is the type of place that I would usually walk past but I went with two friends the other day after work as we fancied a light bite and some wine. We ordered a bottle of the Albana and shared the vegetarian crostini and the mixed board of meat and cheese, and we also got a big basket of crusty bread. This is the type of thing that would not usually appeal to me, which is why I would usually walk past somewhere like this, but it was really lovely! The food was delicious and great value, and the place has a great buzz to it. I have been converted, will definitely be back!!

Milano (Temple Bar)
19 East Essex Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

I had been dying to try this place for ages so myself and a friend went on a Friday evening after work. Huge disappointment!! We sat downstairs which is awful, really dark and warm and miserable, and the staff seem to forget about you down there! I think the menu has been changed recently because it was about half the size of what is on this site, not a great choice now. I had the Bruschetta al Sole to start, which was ok, could have made it myself (I can't cook!). Pizza was nice, if a bit small for the price. Had actually wanted pasta but there's a choice of about 4 pasta dishes and none were hugely appealing. Pinot Grigio was awful. Will definitely not be back.

The Step Inn Lounge Restaurant
Enniskerry Road, Stepaside Village, Stepaside, Stepaside, Dublin

I've been here a couple of times to eat in the bar area, food and service have always been good, great steak and burgers. However, last weekend we couldn't get a table in the bar so we went to the new restaurant entered through the back of the pub. Lovely, cosy little place. Great chicken wings and nachos to start, others in the group were happy with their burgers but I ordered one of their fancy pizzas. It was dreadful! I only got a margarita but it was covered in asparagus, which was not on the menu. Also the base was covered in flour, as if the plate had a layer of flour before the pizza was put onto it! So a bit of a disappointment but as I said the others were happy, and we did have lovely starters and wine. Service was slow, we waited about 40 mins for starters, and they could only give us 2 menus between 4 of us! I would probably go back but would definitely not order a pizza again.

Cactus Jacks Galway
Courthouse Lane, Galway City, Galway

I went to Cactus Jacks with a group of friends and we were a little disappointed. It was very quiet, but then it was midweek so maybe that's why. But as it was so quiet service should have been better as there were plenty of staff there but they weren't great. Restaurant had run out of jalapenos! And maybe cheese too as there was none on nachos as described on menu. Food was ok, pretty bland. Desserts were nice though. Overall it's ok.

Ristorante Da Roberta
161 Upper Salthill, Salthill, Salthill, Galway

On a recent visit to Galway with friends we liked this restaurant so much we went twice in four days!! The pizzas are lovely. We had a couple of different pasta and chicken dishes in the group that were all really nice. Service is great, the staff are so friendly. Place has a great cosy atmosphere. Would definitely recommend, good value for money.

The Harbour Master Restaurant & Bar
Custom House Dock, I.F.S.C Dublin 1, IFSC, Dublin

Went here for lunch with a group from work recently and it was ok. Cheeseburger was a bit bland. Portions are generous though. Others in the group were also disappointed, particularly with Caesar salad. Service was poor, had to get up to look for a waitress to order more drinks. Won't be rushing back.

I went to Roly's for the first time recently and discovered why they have such a good reputation, it was really lovely!! Chicken wantons lovely, very different. Steak was delicious, as was the chocolate ganache for dessert. I was surprised at how generous the portions are. Excellent service. Will definitely be going back.

Town Bar and Grill
21 Kildare Street, City Centre South, Dublin

I have been here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner and both visits were fantastic. I have had the rib-eye steak and the cannelloni and both were delicious and well-presented. The desserts are lovely, the wine menu is extensive and staff know the menus very well. The staff really make this restaurant, by far the best service I have ever had in any restaurant. It is quite pricey however you get what you pay for. I will definitely be going back.
