Extremely pleasant meal had on Saturday night. We arrived early and therefore didn't have to wait for a table. The restaurant is more spacious than it looks from the outside, with tables both upstairs and ground level as well as the few outside. The homemade pâtes served table side, were really tasty, I could have kept munching on them all night! I ordered the lobster for main course which was quite small but made up for by getting a whole one and for €27 it was absolutely delicious and good value. Spotted someone who had ordered the T-bone and it looked amazing. The service was top-notch. Couldn't really hear the music upstairs, so would help if it was turned up a little, but hardly a reason to complain. We really enjoyed the meal, and will go back.

Park Hotel Virginia
Lake Ramor, Virginia, Cavan

Had a lovely meal as part of a family function. Staff were really helpful with a large number of children to deal with. Roast beef was lovely and tender and the seting was wonderful

La Taverna Armento @ BrookLodge & Macreddin Village
The Brooklodge Hotel, Macreddin Village, Aughrim, Wicklow

Everything on the menu throughout the Brooklodge hotel and its restaurants is either organic or wild. We had a delicious meal in Armento with great choices for a set menu. Extremely fresh ingredients, large portions, homemade pasta and the courses were not rushed so we enjoyed the whole experience. I would love to return.

Salamanca Fusion
38 - 40 Parliament Street, City Centre South, Dublin

A really pleasant meal, we both went for the early bird which at €15 for three courses was excellent value. Very tasty & great service, would return!

Jack Whites Inn
Jack Whites Cross Brittas Bay, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

We dropped in for a quick lunch and were pleasantly surprised. Really fresh, proper fish and chips for just short of a tenner. Portions are very big and great service with a smile. They seem to do a great value three course for €15 too. If more places were like this we'd all be laughing.

Benito's
46-47 Castle Street, South Co. Dublin , Dalkey, Dublin

Full of families with kids, the noise is terrible. We decided to just order a pizza and get out of there. Pizza was ok, the service awful. Not a pleasant experience. Maybe the takeway would have been a better option?

Il Vicoletto
5 Crow Street (Next to Foggy Dew Pub), Dublin 2 , City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

We visited to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary which had taken place in Italy. We were not disappointed! Christian, the owner/manager served us an excellent and memorable meal, thank you. We had the four course set menu which had plenty of choice and were extremely full leaving. The wine we had (which was recommended and not on the list - so take their advice if it is offered) was absolutely fabulous. The food is truly authentic, on first glance you may think that the portions are small, but they are really filling and extremely tasty. We were offered a Fragolino (wild strawberry liqueur from Campania), as a digestif which finished the evening perfectly. For a wet Tuesday evening, the intimate dining room was surprisingly full and the background music was very atmospheric. I cannot find any fault with this restaurant and cannot wait to return!

Patrick Guilbaud
21 Upper Merrion Street, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

This is obviously a restaurant you go to for very special occassions, and it certainly will not disappoint you. We have the most magnificent lunch which at €50 per head was really good value. The restaurant itself is a lovely airy room and each table has plenty of privacy. The service as you would expect was second to none, and Monsieur Guilbaud introduced himself to every table and enquired how everthing was. This is only a small gesture but pretty important I would imagine for a lot of chefs/proprietors. I had lobster vichyssoise, rack of lamb and cheese for desert all absolutely delicious. The only downside to the whole experience is that it will be very hard to top this. I would happily go again and recommend to anyone.

Dakota
South William Street, South William Street, Dublin

I was looking for a nice sunny terrace to enjoy some lunch, and eventually found a spot at Dakota. The tasting plates had intrigued me so I was even more surprised to find they have a lunch special which included soup of the day, a choice of tasting plate and tea/coffee for just €7.50 - what a bargain. The soup was mushroom and pretty tasty, but I chose the squid and lime battered prawns and I was most impressed with this, not only by the taste but the size of the portion. Service was very good, all-in-all an excellent choice which I would return to.

Lagoona Bar & Restaurant
Mayor Square, IFSC, City Centre North, Dublin

Passing by on the way to the Point we decided to grab a quick bite to eat. I have to say the staff (all female) were extremely pleasant and very attentive. We only had a main course but €16-95 for a fillet steak which was much nicer than I have had in a lot of more expensive restaurants, is a bargain. If I was in the area again, I would certainly go back.

Nonna Valentina
1-2 Portobello Road, Portobello, Dublin

We went as a party of three and opted for the "dine in dublin" menu, 3 courses with a great choice and a belini aperatif. The carpaccio was fantastic, melt in your mouth and an extremely large portion. I also tried some the bresaola and bruschetta which were also very tasty. For main courses between us we had the grilled lamp chops, goose breast, and pasta del giorno (monkfish and tomato). All dishes were delicious. I am not normally a dessert lover but the tiramisu was so light I couldn't resist. Such an enjoyable meal, in a relaxing setting with excellent service. I will definitely be back.

Hugo's
6 Merrion Row, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Went with a colleague for the early bird menu. The choice was excellent. We really enjoyed the food; the toulouse sausage with duck confit was superb. Really great service and live jazz made it a great night.

F.X. BUCKLEY Steakhouse Pembroke Street
1A Lower Pembroke Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Having visited FXB in Crow st several times and a customer of the butcher's, I was eagerly anticipating a visit to the Pembroke street restaurant. We ate off the €30 value menu, which seems to have slightly more choice than the same menu in Temple bar. The food was top notch as usual, and the service staff although having had a rough shift catering to what seemed to be a restaurant of very merry customers were extremely professional and went beyond the call of duty arranging transport home. Safe bet for excellent steak and seafood.

Smugglers Creek
Cliff Road, Rossnowlagh, Ballyshannon, Donegal

The view from this restaurant is fantastic, when the weather is good (which can be rare enough in Donegal) there are plenty of tables outside overlooking Rossnowlagh beach. The menu is not extensive but what they do , they seem to do extremely well. The chowder was amazing with plenty of shellfish in it. The fish & chips were lovely, really fresh and with a light crispy batter. The burgers were homemade too. All in all a great venue with live music into the night. If it wasn't so far away I'd be back often.

F.X. BUCKLEY Steakhouse Crow Street
2 Crow Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

Party of four on a Saturday night had the early bird menu which is excellent value. I had calamari and the steak bearnaise (which I love), faultless. I continue to come back to this restaurant because of the great produce, service and value.

Rolys Bistro
7 Ballsbridge Terrace, Dublin, Ballsbridge, Dublin

I've been here a on a number of occasions, the lunch menu is superb value. The food is always top notch, I had lemon sole which was delicious, and now with the bakery downstairs, you can bring the gorgeous bread home with you! There have been reports recently about the bad service, but I have to say they were faultless, maybe they have been reading the reviews on Menu Pages! When you book directly (ensure you do this in plenty of time) they will call you to re-confirm a day or two before.

My first visit here, and I will definitely go back. The food and service were both excellent. Next time I might increase the spice rating!

Millstone, A Dublin Restaurant
39 Dame Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Went for the early bird menu on Sunday; two courses for €18, extra supplement for some main courses (beef medallions, and mixed grill). Overall, good value for money, nice decor etc. Pizza was tasty but very filling - not the light thin base you get in Italy. The mixed grill did not meet the expectations after some lovely starters. One of the reasons we went in was due to the good reviews on menu pages and also they had advertised live acoustic guitar from 6pm, we left at 7.30pm and there was no guitar to be seen. A little disappointing, as I had been meaning to try this restaurant for some time.

Chez Max (Palace Street)
1 Palace Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Second visit. The food was faultless and still a good ambience. However, we had booked for 9pm on a Thurday and didn't get seated until 9.25pm, not that much of an inconvenience, but then we seemed to be rushed through our dinner so they could close up. I do like this restaurant so I hope the service can be improved.

Ravellos Restaurant
Clonsilla Village, Dublin 15, Clonsilla, Dublin

Inpromptu visit on a Monday night, unfortunately for them we were the only diners that night - great for us. The food and service were excellent, they brought over an extra heater as it was a cold night and the complimentary limoncello was a nice touch. This place is spotless, something I know my mother used to judge her restaurants by, but this is in addition to an appreciation of their customers, which is what a lot of Dublin restaurants should remember. Will definitely go back.
