Reviewed 28th May 2012 ( visited 22nd May 2012 )A few friends of mine and I went here for a friends birthday dinner. We went for the early bird at 7pm and left at 9.00 extremely satisfied and happy. the food here is just excellent and the service is on the ball, perfectly timed. We were well looked after and never felt hassled to leave. At €20 for 3 courses you cannot go wrong here.

Reviewed 08th July 2011 ( visited 07th July 2011 )Returned to this place after an initial excellent experience. The food again was good but I found the staff this time round to be very slow and we eneded up having to shout to get a drink. Havent dropped the prices yet either.

I went to Bear yesterday upon recommendation by menupages reviewers and was extremely disappointed. I took my dad for a pre theatre dinner and the steak he ordered was terrible (rosary cut). The sides we had were wonderful. My steak (feather steak was grand). Upon finishing the meal our waiter asked how the food was when my dad (a butcher) said his steak was terrible-tough and very difficult to eat (as evidenced by his plate). He normally doesn't complain. The response from the waiter was 'that's that cut of steak'. We paid and left. The place was pretty much empty between 6 and 7 and frankly now I know why. Poor steak is one thing, but the lack of customer service was another.

This is a nice spot but the recent renovations mean you're sitting on top of other people. Basically your sharing a four person table. It's all very rushed too...you get the feeling they want you out ASAP!
Spice of India
Market Street (Kells), Kells, Meath
I like this restaurant and when I heard it has a new name I was promised its the same place just has a new name. However on this occasion I found the service to be very slow (waiting an hour for our dinner) and the waiters confused (they gave our food to another couple by accident first). its seemed a bit hap hazard like the first night of a NEW restaurant? Anyway food was good and the value cant be argued against. Service needs to improve though.

Went here as I remembered it being nice 10 years ago. It wasn't. As a nibble before dinner they brought out not bread and oil but a pack of Tayto in a bowl. Secondly the place was dead, literally a handful of people in there. The staff were nice but the food was terrible. I had seafood rissotto and there was a piece of deep fried cod on top of the rissotto. The seafood in the rice was chewy too. My friend had paella, a typical spanish dish but there was very little rice, no saphron and a lot of chewy fish. Enough said-do not go here if you want a nice meal.

This place always confuses me-the food is good but you can get better food out there. Its expensive but you get huge protions and again you can get better food for cheaper. The staff on 2 seperate occasions had to be reminded of drinks orders and I didnt enjoy that my friends had their starters finished before I got mine. This is the norm at this restaurant as they tell you the food comes when it comes but really I like my food to come when I want it. Anyway all in all I think its overhyped-you can get better Japanese food for cheaper in Dublin with far better service.
Spice of India - South William Street

Lovely food-even better staff. Go here if you want a lovely tasty Indian meal. I went when it wasn't early bird time (like 8pm) and it was excellent but not rapid service which is nice sometimes. Im not sure how good they are at getting you fed quickly if thats what you're after. All round excellent food though.

Loved this place for a relaxing pint and some excellent food. Whether going for a slightly formal meal or juts want a pint and some food-this place has it in bucket loads. Great fresh, quality food with excellent service at an excellent price.
