Restaurant Reviews from fulltummy
Gotham Cafe restaurant
8 South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin, Area Code: Dublin 2
Reviewed 28th April 2011 ( visited 15th March 2011 )Went in on a Tuesday evening and it was very busy, always a good sign. Opted for the evening meal offer with a glass of wine for €20 which was great value. Had the vegetable curry and it was the nicest ever, will go back again just for it. Only downside to the place is that the toilets are up quite steep stairs - though it does go towards working off the food.
Village Bistro at Tonic Bar, Restaurant and Club

Reviewed 14th April 2007 ( visited 14th April 2007 )This is ok for bar food but the sandwich menu at lunchtime is always the same and the menu shows little variety. I have eaten here a number of times and it has always been good but end up having the soup each time because of the little choice. I have eaten in the restaurant once and it was very nice and I'd go back again for that, and be happy to bring friends. Lunchtime, I'd rather eat a sandwich at my desk.

Dined last night as part of the MenuPages deal and had a lovely evening with delicious food at a great price. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and there was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. I had a salad for starter and then duck for main which was the largest portion I have ever seen for one person but more importantly the most delicious. It was all washed down with a nice house red. I will certainly be going back.

Had a very nice dinner here last night. The restaurant was so busy which was great to see. Had a table in a quietish spot which was great for conversation considering the buzz in the place. My friend and I just had a main course each. She had a noodle dish with chicken and prawn which she enjoyed. I had the chicken teriyaki which was really nice and I liked that the meal came with brown rice. I do think, in the current times, €18 for a chicken main course is a bit too expensive but as I was only having one course it meant my meal including tip was €20. I would go back again which is always the most important question.

Farm Restaurant (Dawson Street)
3 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin
Went in on a Monday night for their Early Bird menu. There were a few tables occupied but not too busy and not loud, which is always a plus. The asian salad starter was delicious and I would have happily had a slightly larger portion as a main course as well as the dressing was so good. Had chicken for main, again delicious. No room left for dessert but did manage a couple of cocktails. Lovely evening and I would (and have) recommended it to friends.
The Crystal Bar @ The Beacon Hotel
Beacon Court, Sandyford, Dublin
Lovely 'bar food' though I would consider it more restaurant quality than bar food. I had a delicious chicken noodle dish and then a couple of cocktails. A very nice evening out. Staff were very good. The only downside, for me, was that we left earlier than planned due to the loud music that came on later in the evening. Not at all what I wanted as part of my night out, couldn't really chat with friends from then on.
Blue Orchid Blackrock
Newpark Centre, Newtown Park Avenue, South Co. Dublin, Blackrock, Dublin
Have had a few take-aways from here and have always enjoyed the meal. Their take-away menu is very reasonably priced and the speed and service is excellent. The only downside, on the take-way end of things, is that they keep the menu too short so there are little or no explanation of what the food is. An example is; I ordered the Duck Salad as a starter - it was duck with onions, scallion and peppers but no lettuce or any base, which I thought was a bit strange, though delicious all the same. My pad Thai was very nice but I have had as nice from the supermarket ready meal section and I found the noodles a bit too congealed this time around.
Butterfield Avenue, Rathfarnham Village, Rathfarnham, Dublin
Love this restaurant. We go here for special occasions such as birthdays etc and it never fails to disappoint. Have tried the A La Carte menu and the buffet and both are great. I drool just thinking about the place and the food. There is always a good atmosphere, the staff are lovely and very helpful, the food delicious and the owners always give the personal touch. It is just as well Rathfarnham is a bit of a journey for me or I would be there every month, at least! If you enjoy Indian food you will like everything on the buffet and it does vary. On the A La Carte I love the Pakora Collection or Chicken Salad for starters, the Chicken Biyrani (such a big portion you will want to bring some home) and the Garlic Naan. I usually order way too much and they are always happy to wrap it for me to take home.
174 Pembroke Road, Ballsbridge, Ballsbridge, Dublin
I have eaten here for lunch a number of times and was never disappointed. The value and quality is second to none and I look forward to eating there in the evening at some point. Staff have always been helpful and the restaurant has been busy. They have a great variety for their lunch menu and it is all served beautifully.
3a The Crescent Monkstown, South Co. Dublin, Monkstown, Dublin
Have always had top quality meals here. The steaks are second to none and the vegetable selection is great. I always order too much for the main course because everything is so great so have never got to the dessert part! I have never had anything other than steak when in FXB's but if the rest of the menu is anything like their steak you cannot go wrong.
66 Georges Street Upper, South Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin
Lovely place, food and staff. Have eaten in and had take-aways from here and never been let down on either front. There is so much choice that I usually end up with the same thing each time because once I find something I like I stick to it. I love the sesame chicken.

I ate here as part of a group of 20 and it was one of, if not the, most disappointing meals I have had in a Dublin restaurant. We were eating from the set menu and, I found, the selection very restricting and quite frankly predictable. I ended up letting others eat my food, as I just did not find it appetising at all. I have eaten Mexican before, when overseas, and while it is not my favourite cuisine I have enjoyed it but not this time. The only thing good about the meal was the wine and the company.
Lemongrass (Liffey Valley)
Arc Bar, Liffey Valley Centre, West Dublin, Lucan, Dublin
I have eaten here at lunch and dinner times and found the food lovely, staff attentive without being annoying and the bill at the end reasonable. Personally I prefer the lunch menu, as there is a noodle dish on it, which does not appear on the evening menu. I love this style of Asian/fusion food and the flavours, quality and quantity are always good.
2 Sandymount Green, Dublin 4, Sandymount, Dublin
Cheap and cheerful is the best way to sum this place up. I have had ok/nice meals here but I have cooked better Italian meals myself and have certainly eaten better. It is fine for a Sunday lunch or an impromptu get together but I wouldn't rave about the place. I am not sure if they have changed their 'no bookings' manner, if they haven't they should as I know most people like to know for certain where they are going to end up for the meal. Tesco do a better Tiramisu.
Rickshaw Chinese Restaurant
Kill Lane, Dublin 18, Deansgrange, Dublin
I have eaten in the restaurant a few times and had plenty of take-away's from here. The times I have eaten in the quality of the food have been very good/excellent and the value for the set-menu unbelievable. As someone else already mentioned, the staff are a bit hit and miss. I have found that they do hover and are ready to snap your plate away as soon as you have taken your last mouthful and the food can come out too quickly after each course. The take-away is one of the best in the area but had one very bad experience with them - was told the order would be ready in 30 minutes and 1hr 10 later I had to walk out of the reception area and go elsewhere, no apology/explanation which was hard to explain to the friends and family waiting at home, other than that time though it has always being ready when they said it would be.
Chi Asian Restaurant
9 Georges Avenue, Blackrock, Dublin
I have only eaten here at lunchtime a couple of times but the food has been delicious, well presented and good value. The staff were a bit on the slow side the first time I ate there and then fast the next time around so I guess it just depends how early you get there at lunchtime. Off all the places to eat in Blackrock this is one of the best value for the quality of food and value. At lunchtime anyway. It is one of the few places, in Blackrock, that I would be interested to go back to for an evening meal.

Akash Indian Restaurant
7 Georges Ave, South Co. Dublin, Blackrock, Dublin
I have only ever had take-aways from here but the selection and quality is very good and the prices are reasonable. I do not like it when places charge extra for rice, which should come automatically with the main course, and Akash do this but that is about the only fault I can find with the take-away option.
