Attended a wedding here recently and i am glad to report that once again we were not disappointed. The reception was excellent nice mix of drinks available and plenty of staff . Felt sorry for the excellent jazz band who couldnt compete with an Ireland rugby game . The meal was superb taking into consideration that it was a large wedding . Service was top notch and all staff were friendly and very competent . The Proprietors hand was very much in evidence . I had steak which was very good quality and size . Slightly overdone for my taste but thats understandable for a wedding . Sides were lovely and plenty of them we were also offered more mains if required but we were full . Desserts were very well presented and very tasty . All in all a lovely function

We had starters warm chicken salad and Mussels . am not usually a salad person but this chicken dish converted me it was awesome . Ger had mussels which she loved . Mains were a red pesto chicken fettucini for me and risotto pitocca both of which were lovely . Overall a good experience and good value . Only low point was the usual overcrowded lay out and a malfunction of the hand dryer in the gents.

Spa Seafoods Deli and Cafe
The Spa, Tralee, Kerry

Dined here tonight . The setting is lovely. The dining room is tastefully designed and has a lovely seaside feel with nice furnishings and décor tables are nicely spaced . We had Crab claws and fish cakes to start both very tasty . The fish cakes were two huge portions with a lovely pineapple based salsa which I enjoyed despite my usual disliking for pineapple . Mains were for me Sole on the bone which was generous in size and served with a lovely caper and lemon sauce . Ger had Turbot served with a chorizo based ratatouille which was a little strong for the lovely turbot . We were offered a choice of salad or potatoes gratin as an accompaniment . We felt that a little medley of veg would have been nice . Ger had sticky toffee Pud which she described as delicious . Service was excellent from the senior lady but the younger folk were very attentive but lacked a little attention to detail ( forgot to give us bread ) All in all an excellent meal and great value for money. We will be back

Samuel's Restaurant
Grand Hotel, Denny St. Tralee, Tralee, Kerry

Had occasion to dine here a few times recently due to a family bereavement the management and staff could not have been nicer or more professional in their dealings with us. The food was well cooked fresh and well presented .We also had a lunch in the bar and the food here too was really good and tasty with very good choices.

The Oyster Tavern
The Spa, Tralee, Kerry

Four of us dined here on a saturday night . The restaurant was empty when we arrived and was a little cold . Starters were grilled oysters goats cheese and a garlic mushrooms . Mains were Baked cod, hake ,scampi and monkfish . All the fish were fresh and well cooked but presentation was a little old fashioned . The batter on the scampi was one of the lightest any of us had seen . We all enjoyed the meal but felt it was way too expensive .

Marco Polo
O'Connell Street, Limerick, Limerick City, Limerick

Dined by myself here onm a busy saturday night without a booking . Place quickly filled up with at least 30 people turned away . I had plack pudding to start which tasted very nice but i didnt think the tomato relish did much for the dish. For main i had the pork belly which i found to be very unevenly cooked and it sat on a very bland red wine jus . The dish came without any garnish . As the staff were so busy i was never asked if i enjoyed my meal . I have often dined here mainly at lunchtime and this was my first bad experience . pesto did anything for the dish .

Clarin Bistro @ Raheen Woods Hotel
Raheen, Athenry, Galway

Had lunch with a party of 9 here yesterday . Probably the only complaint was that we were practically alone in the dining room however the bar seemed better populated . Staff were welcoming and attentive . The menu was good for a Sunday lunch with something for everybody . Nobody had anything but praise for the very varied range of our meals . I had a very filling and flavoursome chowder to start followed by a lovely main of duckling cooked perfectly with a lovely crispy skin . The other stand out meals were the lamb and the steaks . Portion sizes were very generous with hardly any need for the nice vegetable sides .All in all a very nice meal and good value too .

Keshk Cafe Restaurant
71 Mespil Road, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Found this gem while staying at a nearby hotel . What attracted me was the middle eastern styled menu .I was not disappointed .The staff are amongst the friendliest in Dublin . I just asked for a number of different dishs like a mezze and all were well presented and delicious the Kebbeh was the stand out dish as it brought me back to my days in Damascus it was very authentic which i have very difficult to find in OTHER SO CALLED MIDDLE EASTERN restaurants . The meal was really brought to a great conclusion by a pot of excellent arabic coffee . I will be back

Town Hall Bistro
The Old Ground Hotel, O'Connell Street, Ennis, Clare

On a visit to Ennis we booked a table for four at restaurant as we had eaten there many years before and had enjoyed our meal then. Our return visit did not disappoint us. The food and service were of the same high standard we had experienced previously. All staff were very helpful and friendly. A great service was the norm. We had four starters, four mains, two desserts, coffees and a bottle of wine. The bill came to E148 approx. There was a wide choice on the menu. We had St Tola goats cheese, crab selection for starters. All were fab. For main courses we had lamb shank - meat fell off bone, sea bass and hake with portabello mushroom. Again all fab. Desserts too were great. This was excellent value for the quality and presentation of food that we had received. On the night Mary (cant remember surname) appeared to be the person in charge. She was most efficient and friendly and gave a customer service experience of the highest order. We would recommend this restaurant to everybody and we will certainly be returning there for a meal again.

Bella Bia

Dined here recently in a group of 5 . table was not ready for us which is a common occurrence here. We were seated in a an area beside the smoking area while waiting . The food when we were seated was great and everybody including a few fussy eaters were more than impressed . The pork belly in particular was very tasty and the pasta dishes were good specially the seafood risotto . Due to the wait at the start we were offered sambucas or whatever we wanted on the house . With a bit of attention to booking and a possible re positioning this restaurant could be a gem . Excellent value for money by the way.

Had lunch here today for the second time in a few weeks. Had my fussy eater daughter with me.As with my first visit the experience was great. Starters were for me Nachos and daughter had chicken wings . Both were really well presented and tasted very well . The Nachos came with 3 sauces including a lovely guacamole and a particularly nice tomato relish .The wings were succulent spicy and the plates were cleaned . Mains were Pizza for Daughter which was really tasty with a lovely thin crisp base and a very nice margarita topping . . I had a Malaysian dish of prawns and pork belly which was really excellent . I finished with a lovely expresso which would even have passed muster with Paulo Tullio .All foe 25 euro including 2 soft drinks no wonder the pklace was buzzing even on a monday afternoon . Please please open this restaurant at night i rate it better than its sister place across the road .

Freddy's Bistro
Theatre Lane Lower, Glentworth Street, Limerick City, Limerick

Had an excellent evening here last month . Starters were humus and mushroom risotto . Both were lovely with the risotto just getting the nod as I'm a bit of a traditionalist with humus having lived in Syria and Lebanon maybe I'm with what i got too critical but there was absolutely nothing wrong with what i was served actually probably the best attempt at humus i have found in Ireland. Mains were slow cooked pork belly truly delicious and if memory serves me correctly the hake. As we ordered from the early evening menu at 19 euro the value was great. The staff were lovely and most helpful in in every way specially the Maitre Di ( Manageress ) who was particularly friendly and indeed pointed us towards a lovely pub , Gleeson's > where we enjoyed a lovely poetry night . We will be back!

Milesian Restaurant
Main Street, Castlegregory, Kerry

This is a lovely old traditional irish cottage very themy and atmospheric. I is a little short on space abf can be cramped . Staff are very friendly and well informed .Starters were Risotto of squid &caramelized onion, Shaved Parmasan and Ham Hock & Black Pudding Terrine, Prune Puree, Roast Fig, Chicken Liver Parfait,Hazelnuts, Mango & Apricote Chutney, Brioche mains were Hake fillet, Patata Rota, Asparagus, Green beans, Citrus vinaigrette and Pork Steak, Crispy Tail, Black Pudding Crumble, Leeks two ways, Hay Smoked Mash . The food was of a very high standard but the sides left a lot to be desired at least in their quantity . An outlay of a few pence would have made this an outstanding meal . Beware they do not accept credit cards but a very understanding waitress was trusting and we came back on sunday to pay . This was inconvenient and we felt we should have been advised of this before we dined as far as i can see there is no mention of this on the web site . It did not however detract from the meal which we enjoyed very much.

The Station House Bar and Grill
Blennerville, Tralee, Kerry

Ate here on Sat night were quickly seated at our table by a pleasant young man .Service was on the slow side and the menu knowledge from the waiters could have been better . Starters were Moroccan spiced lamb skewer with tomato & courgette served with coriander marinated creme fraiche & homemade chutney ,Italian Meatball HOT POT in a spicy Tomato ragout,Sautéed wild mushroom & Pecorino cheese stuffed potato skin. The meatballs were average both the others were really good. Mains were Sea Trout Greek style on risotto, Roast duck and two went for turbot from the nightly specials . All the mains were delicious and the duck was massive but cooked nice and crispy on the outside but still moist inside . All in all a lovely night will be back to try the midweek tapas menu which looked lovely

Tamarind
Units 3-5, Carraighouse, Matt Talbot Rd, Tralee, Kerry

Have dined here a few times and can never understand how it is always almost empty . In fairness midweek around 6 pm might not be the busiest time .Due to the time lag i cant recount exactly what i ordered but i do remember the quality of the food it was awsome . I do remember having duck which was cooked really well . We also got a lovely little amous bouche which was a nice touch for a small place . People of Tralee please support this lovely restaurant it is a gem and the people there are amomgst the friendliest i have ever encountered in a restaurant

Il Pomo Doro Restaurant
2A Princess Street, Tralee, Tralee, Kerry

Had a meal here on over the bank holiday weekend and the place was buzzing. We ate from the early bird menu which was great value . I had italian sausage as my starter and my partner had a cheese salad . Both were nice . Mains were Aubergine lasagne for me and a chicken risotto for the boss . Both of these were excellent in both taste and quantity .We finished with a coffee and an expresso which were not charged for due to a slight delay in service. As there were only two waitresses working service slowed up during the night eand by the time we left was really slow . Good tasty food but really great value .

Had an early bird in Il fico on sunday night and was most satisfied . I started with Penne with pesto which was a a substantial plate and very tasty ger had a croquette of broccoli with spinach also very tasty . Maines for me Sicillian sausage with a lovely red wine jus and for ger cannelloni which was very tasty . Deserts were apple pie and a selection of ice cream . I had one of the best expressos i have had outside of Italy . Early bird priced at 13.50 is superb value all in all a very good evening . One quibble the tables are a little close but given the shape of the dining room i guess its difficult to do better

Mexico to Rome

Dined here in the afternoon and found it great value . It was quiet on a tue afternoon. The value menu at approx 14 .50 was limited which was not a problem considering price . Park House Restaurant (Galway)
Park House Hotel & Restaurant, Forster Street, Eyre Square, Galway City, Galway

Was in the park with a mixed group of 12 on Friday night . First impression was the friendliness of the staff who catered for all our needs without being intrusive. Menu was good and suited all our tastes. . I had pate to start with the most delicious cumberland sauce i have ever had. I had duckling as a main and found it tasty but a little overdone for my liking .I was not asked how i wanted it cooked although other people were asked the only oversight of the night. Others had a range of dishes and all were happy . The vegetables were particularly nice i had a mediterranean stir fry . One other person had duck as well and also thought it was not up to scratch . Overall a good experience

Restaurant 58 at Ballygarry House
Leebrook, Tralee, Tralee, Kerry

Dines in Brooks restaurant at the Ballygarry House Hotel last night courtesy of a well out of date voucher from our family which was accepted without fuss. The restaurant was not busy and we enjoyed a pre prandial drink in the leebrook bar. Our previous visits to this establishment were for bar food or weddings and we were never disappointed . We were seated at a nice table in an alcove with nice views of the well kept gardens. The staff were most attentive and well informed concerning the menu . I must admit the menu is limited in choice but this was acceptable considering the quality of the dishes . We were given an amous bouche of salmon which was delicious .Ger ordered starter of plaice strips which were served in a lovely batter I have seen less fish as a main in many dublin restautants. I had a spicy chicken which was lovely . for mains we ordered Hake and Duck cooked two ways . Two huge fillets of perfectly cooked fish and the duck was to die for perfectly pink as i asked for and beautifully presented . The accompaniments were also of a very high standard . Desers home made ice cream and a tort apple bavaoise . Both delicious and pretty on the eye. The staff specially Majella were excellent and most attentive but with a lovely friendly manner. We were asked if we wished for any more food during the meal and i felt as if ay request would not have been a problem. Nice too to see the chef in his domain he is from the us and a nice friendly guy. The whole experience was really a pleasure pity there were not more people there

Meadow Court Hotel
Clostoken, Loughrea, Galway

When i visit my aunt in Loughrea she invariably brings us to sunday lunch in The meadow Court. It is a typical rural hotel . Decor in the reception area is surprisingly nice if a little dated . The main dining room however could do with a makeover . The staff here we are really friendly and its nice to see faces we recognise who never fail to acknowledge us . The food is typical of this class of establishment nothing too fancy but good well cooked homely food and plenty of it . I had beef my partner chicken curry and the auntie lamb . All were fine butwe were dissapointed with the vegetables which were unadventurous . We have dined here for dinner on occasions and the transformation is amazing. Leads me to believe that the chef at night is different from the lunch time .

Port House Pintxo
12 Eustace Street, Dublin 2, Temple Bar, Dublin

Has to be my favourite tapas bar in ireland . Atmosphere at night is electric . Downstairs can feel a little crowded if full but this place ia very atmospheric . On my last visit i was unavoidably on my own but none theless really enjoyed the experience . Food was all of a high standard and the wines are superb . I think the staff picked up on the fact that i had been let down by my partner and went out of their way to look after me .All in all a great experience .

Good World Chinese Restaurant
18 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

I have dined here twice in the last year on both occasions the place was crowded . We were quickly seated by an attentive waitress and she was also very knowledgable about the food . food was faultless both times . If you are adventurous ask for the chinese nationals menu which seems to be more traqditional . A testament to the quality of the food was the number of chinese eating there .
