This was my second visit to Tavern on a menupages voucher. Portions were smaller this time and service was slow although very pleasant staff. Still good value but not as impressed overall as last time. Had to ask for more bread to supplement the portion of main course.

Red Torch Ginger
14/ 15 Andrew Street , Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

4 of us ate here on Thursday evening. Restaurant busy with a good atmosphere. Food was really tasty, service pleasant but a little patchy. I was left sitting for 10 mins without being asked if I would like a drink while waiting. Couldn't catch anyone's attention. But overall great restaurant and I would go back. Early bird til 6.45pm is great value.

VnV at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel
Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Dined on a Groupon voucher which covered 2 starters, 2 main courses and 2 glasses of wine for EUR40. Excellent value although limited to 3 choices for starter, (veg soup, rabbit tart, pork terrine) and 3 main courses (steak, chicken, salmon). I had the veg soup and roasted chicken which were good. Sauvignon blanc very nice too! Would recommend, especially when such good value with the voucher.

Avenue Cafe & Restaurant

Excellent meal and service. If anything the portions were a little too generous! Early bird for EUR 30 excellent value. Will return.

La Maison
15 Castle Market Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Had lovely long lunch here between 1.30 - 4pm. Organic Italian Merlot tasty and good value at EUR 26. Carrot & ginger soup ok - not hugely flavourful, scallops fine. Both had duck for main course which was perfectly cooked. Initially seated at table downstairs but was very cramped and had waiting staff walking both sides of us so asked to be moved upstairs. Much happier up there - not as cramped and better seating plan. Service was good and shared chocolate fondant for dessert was beautiful!

The Port House
64a South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Went with 3 friends straight after work on Friday. Restaurant quite dark but beautifully lit by candlelight. Ordered several tapas betweeen us - at 2 different stages..Best were the Chicken skewers, meatballs, stuffed peppers. Calamari were ok but very big individually in thick batter - I was expecting smaller individual portions in a thinner batter. Disappointing was the chorizo - not a great flavour and steeped in too much oil. Had a lovely couple of bottles of rioja for EUR25 each. Atmosphere good - busy and a nice buzz. Service ok - fine at the start but got patchy when they got busy - water took an hour to arrive! But Will definitely return.

WILDE
The Westbury, Grafton Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Ate here last Friday evening with my husband. Very nice experience and good service. However, agree with the previous poster that adding 15% service charge for 2 people in a quiet restaurant seems excessive (it was 6.30pm so early). Starter of feta salad was ok, smoked salad was excellent. Mains of Pork belly and sea bream also excellent. Nice touches throughout the meal including the homemade chocolate at dessert. Cheeseboard was excellent. Retired out to the Westbury lobby for another bottle of wine! Lovely atmosphere. Would recommend.

Ukiyo
7-9 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Ate here for the first time last night with 7 friends. Excellent meal and atmosphere. Just had main courses as were going down to Karaoke afterwards. Highlights were beef with vegetables and the Pork Belly. Excellent cocktails too.Very good service - friendly staff. Quality of food excellent. Had a brilliant time at the Karaoke downstairs although room very bijoux for 8 people and it is supposed to be for 10! Liked facility for tab for the Karaoke and staff very obliging about bringing drinks down to room - great service. Will be back!

The Pig's Ear
4 Nassau Street, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

Enjoyed a meal here last Thurs with a friend. Excellent value Early bird although as earlier posters said it is slightly limited. Had the butternut squash soup which was lovely & the trout. Service was nearly too attentive - was asked about 6 times during the meal if everything was ok (by a couple of different staff)! Liked the fact that after we finished our meal we still had plenty to talk about so waitress offered more water without looking for us to order more wine etc. Was quiet enough though. Overall good night and would recommend.

The Porterhouse (Central)
45-47 Nassau Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Dropped in here for a quick bite to eat after work on the way to the O2 to see Ricky Gervais. Service ok although they could be doing with more floor staff as difficult to catch their attention once we had placed our order. Chicken wings were only ok - edible but was like they had been sitting under hot lamp for a while. Burger & chips were average, but chicken skewers were awful - hard as a rock & didn't taste of anything really. Sent them back, waitress said she would tell the kitchen - but not overly concerned re the issue. In fairness, they were taken off the bill but there is no way we would have paid for them anyway. LIke this pub for drinks but based on yesterday's meal, wouldn't recommend for food. (have eaten several times in Porter House in Glasnevin which is much nicer!)

Eden Bar & Lounge
Grange Road, Rathfarnham, Dublin

Met family at thes pub yesterday evening for a meal. 4 of us there. Service was very prompt and friendly. Just had main courses but all very nice. Chicken in garlic butter, steak and Cod mornay (catch of the day) all cooked well and very good portions. Smoked slamon starter was beautifully presented and very large portion of salmon with brown bread also. Nice busy atmosphere and pleasant surroundings. Would go back if I was in the area again.

Alvito's Restaurant
Captains View, Captains Hill, Leixlip, Kildare

Ate here last night with a friend. Quiet enough as it was a Wed night. Good service & very tasty food. Credit Crunch menu is excellent value but unfortately no meat/fish dish on it (pastas & pizzas) so went for a la carte. Had nice bottle of Italian Merlot too. Steak with mushroom sauce although spicy prawns for starter were not particularly spicy. Overall good meal & service. Would recommend.

Town Bar and Grill
21 Kildare Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Had booking for 2 last Fri evening at 6pm. Quiet enough when we went in but busy by the time we left at 8.15pm. Both had chowder for starter - more tomato teate than normal but tasty, I went for the a la carte while my friend went for early bird. Early Bird good value at 24 for 2 courses. But no beef on the early bird and I really wanted a steak! Her hake was very nice - my steak with green beans was very well done - rib eye. Sicilian red house wine was lovely at 23.95. Service excellent but expensive enough overall for the atmosphere/food. Not as good as my last visit. But enjoyable :-)

Le Bon Crubeen
81-82 Talbot Street, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin

Went to the Bon Crubeen last Thursday night. Phone wasnt answered at 530pm when we tried to book a table but were lucky to get a table for 3 when we arrived at 6.15pm. Nice welcome on arrival - very busy with a wide variety of customers. Food very varied - just went for olives & breads/dips to share for starters. Olives were in heavy oil which was a bit too much but accompanying warm bread was fabulous. Dips were lovely with other breads. We all had the Hake with Pernod butter. Very tasty but would probably ask for the butter on the side next time as the Pernod was a little strong. Good atmosphere - excellent service - very friendly waiters. Tables more like pub rather than restaurant as no table cloth. Choc fondant was very good. Cheese plate was a little disappointing - plenty of cheese but quite basic flavours & ballymaloe relish promised was more like pickles red onions. Good value & will return to sample more of the menu!

Hugo's
6 Merrion Row, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Ate here on Thursday night with 2 friends. Fabulous meal - went for the early bird 2 couses for 18.95 which really is excellent value. Advisable to book as several people were turned away while we were there (6pm-8pm). Had the warm mackeral salad to start which was really lovely. We all had the steak - was beautiful - perfectly cooked. Friendly staff - good service. Pleasant ambience & surroundings - plush decoration. Overall a very pleasant experience! Will be back!

The Bradaun Restaurant @ Leixlip House Hotel
Leixlip, Leixlip, Kildare

Ate here again last night in a party of six for a family celebration. Very busy - obviously the current offers bringing lots of people in! Excellent meal - Had the blackpudding/pork belly again to start which was very tasty. Asparagus was amazing according to Dad! Main course Hake was perfectly cooked. Half of the menu was fish - luckily we like fish - dishes sampled were John Dory, turbot and the hake. Although there were also Lamb, steak and chicken available. All well cooked. House Wine Merlot was lovely. Service excellent as before. Lovely atmosphere & surroundings. Only negative was that they had the radiators on which made the room a little too warm! Great meal - will be back again,

Beckett's
Cooldrinagh House, Leixlip, Kildare

Ate here with 2 friends on Saturday last. Early bird menu (latest booking 645pm on Sat) is really excellent value. EUR 29.95 for 3 courses including standard side orders. Busy even that early on Sat evening. Fabulous food & wine, good service. Steak was amazing! Love Becketts will be back soon I hope!

La Cuvee @ Eno Wine Bar
1 Burton Hall, Mayor Square, IFSC, City Centre North, Dublin

Ate here yesterday evening with my better half. Restaurant was lovely and toastie coming in from the cold evening. Very warm welcome on arrival. Excellent that so many good glasses of wine available rather than just bottles on the wine list. Food was fab - steak perfectly cooked and chunky chips beautifully crispy. His chicken lovely too. Cheese plate - good selection and quality. Overall very enjoyable experience.

The Porterhouse (North )
Cross Guns Bridge, Glasnevin, Dublin

Ate here again last night with a friend. Had steak (EUR21) - was ok but vegetables described as "grilled" were not as you would expect. Basically boiled & tasteless - disappointing. Pepper sauce was ordinary enough too. My friend's Burger & chips were nice though. Good atmosphere. Service fine earlier in the evening but got patchy after 9pm as they were very busy. Toilets were a disaster - dirty and several of the doors did not lock properly. Have eaten regularly here before and have always been quite pleased but last night was a real let down!

Koh
6-7 Jervis Street, Millennium Walkway, Dublin 1, City Centre, Italian Quarter, Dublin

Ate with a friend and had the pre theatre menu -had 3 choices for each course. Initally thought good value at 17.50 but portions quite small. Both had the chicken satay skewers to start with, which were ok For the main, I got the singapore noodle dish, which was lovely but limited portion. freiend had a curry which again was nice but could have had more. Wine list reasonable enough.

Odessa
13 Dame Court, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

Have eaten in Odessa quite a few times, however this time a little disappointed. Had the early bird at EUR 16 for 2 courses - soup (biutternut squash) which was ok. Had trout for the "main" but a very small portion. Know I probably should have said something but was too embarrassed! Had to wait quite a while to get a waiters attention for the bill although the place only half full.

FIRE Restaurant and Lounge
Mansion House, Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin

Had the Pre Theatre menu at Fire last night. Menu was excellent value at 23.95 for 2 courses - fish cakes for starter were fab and steak was cooked to perfection. Only let down was service was a little slow towards the end of the meal, maybe short a waiter on a Tues night. Would definitely recommend though!
