Was part of a group of eight for a Friday night earlybird. Excellent value for money, 3 Courses & wine worked out at about €30 per head. The food was really tasty, the portions were just right and the waiters were attentive but not obtrusive. And they were more than happy to obligue when asked to embarrass someone on their birthday with candles and singing!

Azur
8 Georges Quay, Limerick City, Limerick

We went here for a girly catch up a couple of weeks ago. Overall it was a pleasant experience but I definitely think there are areas where they fall down. Their €21.95 early bird menu lacks variety, the dishes on it are nice but they are definitely the lower end of their menu which is fair enough in one sense but other restaurants are offering much better quality and variety for the same price. The food itself was nice but, perhaps because of the limited selection, not very exciting. I had the chicken and chorizo salad and the spicy salmon. Again, both very tasty but not something to rave about. The atmosphere is lovelym, really warm and cozy whether you're a group of 4 or 10. The staff were very polite and pleasant but not overly warm or helpful at the same time. I think it's the perfect place for a group or an early bird but if I was looking for something special I might give this place a miss.

Sash
No. 1 Pery Square Hotel & Spa, Pery Square, Limerick City, Limerick

I went here with my partner and we were really impressed. We were initially seated near the door which we found a little drafty so asked to move which wasn't a problem. The service was friendly and attentive, the waitress recommended a lovely wine based on our preferences and got it just right. The meal started with a beautiful butternut squash amuse bouche with a goats cheese foam, compliments of the chef. For starter we had rabbit rillitte served with piccalilli and a caramelized onion and cashel blue tart, both delicious. For main I had the halibut with toasted almonds which was cooked to perfection. My partner had the surf and turf which comprised of home corned beef and scallops, again beautifully cooked. My partner ended his meal with a cheese plate, wonderfully presented and accompanied by quince jelly and crackers. 3 courses with coffee (irish & calypso) and a bottle of wine, €121 before tip. A little pricey but absolutely worth it. Wonderful food, wonderful atmosphere, perfect for a special evening.

Chocolat
109, O'Connell St, Limerick City, Limerick

The early bird here is just unbelievable value considering you have your pick of the entire menu (soemthing like a €3 surcharge if you choose steak, which is more than reasonable). We were a group of 5 and none of us had anything bad to say,the food was really good. I had the goats cheese and walnut crostini starter, tasty and just the right amount. Then I had the sea bass for main and again this was well cooked and enjoyable. Our waiter was slightly aloof and we were waiting for our bill for a while but this didn't really bother us too much, However if we were in any kind of hurry I'm sure we would've felt differently. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.

Cafe Mexicana
Careys Lane, Cork City, Cork

Having eaten here before and enjoyed it we decided to pop in here one friday afternoon for a quick bite to eat. Atmosphere-wise, it's a lovely little restaurant in a great location but the staff do let it down. They are neither warm or welcoming, and give the impression that if they could frisbee your food to you from the kitchen they would. The foods itself is tasty but expensive for what it is, which in our case was a burrito and a chimichanga. I don't really understand the huge amount of rice they put on the side of your meal, perhaps it is to bulk up the plate to make you think you are getting your money's worth? All in all, the place the potential to be great and a favourite but I think they need to get a manager in who will streamline the service and presentation.

Cava Spanish Restaurant & Tapas Bar
51 Lower Dominick Street, Galway City, Galway

Love this restaurant! Have been to Cavas a couple of times now and if I'm honest we lean towards weekends away in Galway just to eat here! The food is authentic, fresh and tasty and puts other establishments which claim to be as "Tapas Bars" to shame. The service is excellent - attentive but not overbearing. The staff are friendly, helpful and happy to advise you on the menu. The atmosphere in here is always warm and relaxing and the live band on fridays is a fantastic addition to the evening. As I said, the food is fresh and tasty and I'd highly recommend the scallops with black pudding, the olives and the goats cheese with figs. We had a selection of tapas, desserts, coffees and a gorgeous bottle of cava, all for a very reasonable €87.
