We as it is my local I was back again. The seafood and steaks were excellent, the service was casual friendly and efficient and the wine list has changed for the better and we washed down our delicious meal with a nicely chilled bottle of Sauvignon Blanc at a very reasonable (for Dublin) €32 ! I'll be back again for sure !

Richmond
43 RICHMOND STREET SOUTH, Portobello, Dublin

Went for a meal with friends just to catch up. Staff were very friendly and efficient. The interior is kind of cosy but quite basic and has a 'neighbourhood' feel so it's not plush or romantic. We had a mixture of food, I had a nice soup, steak and date dessert. Everything was good but nothing wowed me. The wine was similar. We enjoyed the meal but with so many choices in Dublin now I can't identify how Richmond stands out except maybe for the staff.

Angelina's
55 Percy Place, Ballsbridge, Dublin

more style than substance. It was my first time here. I really liked the décor, atmosphere, setting and service. I had the scallops to start which themselves were good but the sauce was not hot. The fish came in a 'soup' which meant that while the skin was originally crisp and pan fried it was slimy but the time I got it. The ideas for the food were good the execution was poor however and expensive. I would come back here for Pizza and a glass of wine or beer but otherwise the food quality and execution doesn't live up to the price.

Cracked Nut
71 Camden street, Dublin South, Dublin

This was a nice find. We came across it strolling one Saturday morning and decided to pop in for brunch. It is very casual and was a 'wholefood' healthy theme. The staff were lovely and the food including the eggs were very tasty and excellent value. I'll be back.

Chapter One Restaurant
18/19 Parnell Square, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin

This was our first visit to Chapter one and overall it was quite enjoyable. The only 5 star element of this for me was the staff and service which really is up there with the best in Dublin. The building and interior is pleasant but for me the food was a little disappointing. I only had one 'wow' course and that was my seafood lasagne starter. All rest of the food was good but not special. I'm glad I visited and my partner and I had an enjoyable evening. At about €220 it was too pricey and not special enough for a return visit alas.

Ember
Milltown Shopping Centre, Milltown Road, Milltown, Dublin

Fantastic opening night in Ember. As neighbours my partner and I decided to book in for opening night and what a treat ! The restaurant looks amazing, the staff were friendly efficient and knowledgeable and the food was excellent. Given that this was opening night I thought the whole team there did an amazing job. We will definitely be back and Ember is a huge addition for Milltown !

Forno
3 The Crescent, Donnybrook, Donnybrook, Dublin

My first visit here was on a Sunday afternoon which was the 'brunch' menu. It is a brunch menu that you see all over Dublin (Irish breakfast, eggs many ways, burgers etc.). Nothing interesting or original here. There is very little on the brunch menu to suggest that this is an Italian restaurant. I liked the décor and atmosphere in Forno, it is bright and airy and had a nice feel. Except for drinks the service was good. My fish and chips was ok but my partners 'Carnitas Hash' was quite tasteless and watery. I think Forno would do better to embrace Italian food and maybe the evening menu is better. I wouldn't go back for brunch as there are better cafes and restaurants for this within walking distance.

Dillingers
47 Ranelagh Village, Dublin 6, Ranelagh, Dublin

Enjoyed the Wednesday meal deal with my partner. We always find the service really good in here. The steaks and wine were good. The wine was a bit pricey but welcome to Dublin !

Jamie's Italian
Pembroke District, Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14 , Dundrum, Dublin

I've been here a few times and usually I enjoy it. I like the interior design I find the staff friendly and efficient. Last Monday I had the Garlic Bread to start which I enjoyed, the Penne Carbonara however was too bland for me. My partner had Prawn Linguini which was ok but again lacking any strong flavours. They have a nice choice of reasonably priced (for Dublin) wines by the glass. The toilets are very clean and well maintained. Overall an ok place to eat but no memorable.

Paulie's Pizza
58 Grand Canal Street, Dublin 4, City Centre South, Dublin

Well some good some bad points: Good: Staff are friendly and efficient My starter of bruschetta was nice with a great tomato flavours. Bad: space is very cramped people at the next table and waiting staff couldn't help bumping into me at times. I was upstairs but downstairs looked even worse. Upstairs was very loud with music and people not relaxing at all. My pizza was very disappointing with too much pesto which overpowered everything and a big pointless lump of rocket in the middle. This is nowhere near real Naples pizza standard - I've been there I know ! Dessert of Tiramisu was at best boring - no great flavours. I won't be back €80 for 2 wasn't really good value and its a pity because this place could be so good.

Avalon Restaurant
89 Morehampton Road, Donnybrook, Dublin

Had a great Early Bird here with my partner. The starters were amazing - I had the salmon, great duck dish for the main and yummy deserts. The wine list was short and pricey but good quality. The service was excellent - relaxed and friendly and overall the place looked great. I'll definitely be back !!

Klaw
5A Crown Alley, Temple Bar, Dublin

I didn't know what to make of Klaw. As it's description says it's a small shack type style of place about the size of an average apartment kitchen and living room. You look right into the kitchen which isn't separated and was a bit messy. The quality of the seafood is good in particular the lobster. The experience was a bit claustrophobic and chaotic (a group of about 6 stood in the tiny aisle beside the tables waiting to place an order to sit outside) and to be fair to the young staff managed well. The wine was nothing special. It might go back for a casual lunch sometime if it's not busy.

Kajjal
7 The Green, North Co. Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

An enjoyable meal with friends. Kajjal has a warm and friendly atmosphere with great service. I had potato cakes to start which were delicious and Beef Jalfrazi for the main which was tasty too.

Roast
10a Merrion Rd, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

I really enjoyed the food here. My steak was beautifully cooked and presented as was my partners rib of beef. A nice bottle of Malbec (from a Menupages voucher) washed the food down nicely. The service was friendly and efficient but both waiters were inexperienced. The interior of the restaurant has a slightly cheap look and feel and I had difficulty in advance of the night of getting my reservation confirmed through Menupages. My voicemail (not returned) and 4 phone calls were needed to get through. Anyway - great food, reasonably priced, friendly service. A professional head waiter or restaurant manager would solve the rest of the issues.

Marios (Ranelagh)
39 Ranelagh Village, Dublin 6, Ranelagh, Dublin

I had a wonderful lunch here on Saturday with my partner. The waiters were very friendly, kind, efficient and helpful. The food was tasty (not high end Italian but still enjoyable) and I loved my thin base pizzza. The wine was good value (which is becoming rare in Dublin) and toilets were bright and clean ! Overall very enjoyable spot for lunch and not expensive at all. I'll be back !

ely bar & brasserie
CHQ Building, Georges Dock, Dublin 1, City Centre, IFSC, Dublin

I dined here on Saturday night to celebrate my wedding anniversary. We were served by a very charming and attentive young French waiter who brought us beautiful food and wine which we had ordered. It was a fantastic night and though I have been to Ely before I always find the downstairs dining area amazing with its vaulted stone ceilings. I'll be back again for sure ! Love you Ely.

The Saddle Room @ The Shelbourne
The Shelbourne Hotel, 27 St Stephen's Green, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

My parents were in town and staying at the Shelbourne and invited my partner and I to join them for dinner. The food was very good but in particular the service was probably the most friendly efficient and professional I have encountered in Dublin in a long time. The restaurant was very relaxed and not too busy (unlike the bar) and it made for a very enjoyable evening.

ely bar & brasserie
CHQ Building, Georges Dock, Dublin 1, City Centre, IFSC, Dublin

I took a work project team out here for a meal out. When we arrived instead of getting a table downstairs (which is beautiful) we were directed to the bar because they didn't have enough bookings for downstairs. Despite my protests they refused to seat us downstairs. Mostly the food was good but my fish (hake if I remember correctly) was boiled and not great. The service and atmosphere were good. I won't be rushing back :(

The Pavilion at the University of Limerick
North Campus, University of Limerick, Limerick City, Limerick

Had Sunday lunch here for Mother's day. They had a special area set up for the day which looked really well. It is a carvery style set-up. They quality of the food is good and its great value. The staff friendly and helpful.

Restaurant FortyOne
Residence, 41 St. Stephen´s Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

I love the Residence and have eaten here several times. The staff are amazing and the location and setting are a joy. The food is mostly excellent and for lunch it was great except for the Foie Gras which we thought lacked flavour. The lunch tasting menu was great with lots of nice surprises. I'm always trying to find excuses to get back again ! My only criticism really is that the wines are expensive.

profile_review

The Market Bar
Fade Street, City Centre South, Dublin

I liked the vibe here, the food is quite good and reasonable value. The service is poor. If you are seated for food there are 3 types of floor staff, for drinks orders, food orders and glass collectors. Initially I had asked a glass collector (how are you supposed to figure out who is who ??) to take our order and was rudely told "I'm only a glass collector" he then ignored my request to ask one of his colleagues to take the order and just dissappeared. This division of labour may make for efficient running of the restaurant/bar but its not good for the customer experience.

Trocadero
St Andrew Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I've passed the Trocadero hundreds of times and always meant to visit. Last night I finally made it there with my partner and friends after the theatre. It has an incredible atmosphere and the staff were very efficient, professional but very casual and friendly at the same time. The food was of a very good standard although the menu is a little old fashioned but then that fits in with the overall feel of the place. I haven't enjoyed a night so much in quite a while. One of Dublin's special places.

The Maigue Restaurant @ Dunraven Arms Hotel
Dunraven Arms Hotel, Adare, Adare, Limerick

A classic location for Sunday lunch. The roast beef is amazing and the service is friendly. The hotel has an old world feel to it. I love to return for special occasions.

Jo'Burger Town, 4/5 Castle Market, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Best burger I've ever had in my life. Amazing, extensive and innovative topping choice. Can't wait to get back.

The Port House Ibericos
5/6 Pembroke Cottage, Pembroke District, Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin

Visited with some friends and had an enjoyable evening. Its a nice building although some of the table are small. The waitress couldn't take our coats because they 'have no space for coats'. Service was fast at first but later dropped off. The food is just average. Of all the tapas we had none was memorable but neither was there anything wrong with them. I probably wouldn't go back as the choice in Dublin is so high now and so competitive.

Jamie's Italian
Pembroke District, Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14 , Dundrum, Dublin

Four of us had dinner and all enjoyed the food. I 've eaten here a few times and always found the service efficient, fun and friendly. They have a nice range of food choices that you don't get in most restuarants eg. rabbit and veal. We all thoroughly enjoyed the meal my only complaint was that the restuarant was very hot for some reason. It is a bistro type busy noisy place not for romantic dinners !

profile_review

Rolys Bistro
7 Ballsbridge Terrace, Dublin, Ballsbridge, Dublin

On my initial attempt to book the table (via Menupages) deal it was refused saying they weren't taking any of these booking for 3 weeks. I had to phone directly and speak to a supervisor to get a booking (for a week later). On arrival the front of house was efficient rather than welcoming but we were promtly seated at a table. The restaurant was very full and busy. Overall the dining room is looking old fashioned and tired and could do with a revamp and modernisation or at a minimum a fresh coat of paint. I imagine that the Menupages voucher get you 'reduced' portion size meal (even though there are lots of options). Starters (crab and prawns) were small but good quality and the same was true of the mains (prawn and turbot) but again good quality. Deserts were fine too but didn't stand out in any way. The service was efficient and helpful and friendly in so far as it was possible but it was so busy that the staff were 'flat out' and did as well as could be expected under the circumstances. Overall everything was fine but not inspiring in any way. I wouldn't be rushing back as there are so many other interesting and new places opening up.

DIG IN
19 Lower Camden Street, Dublin 2, Camden Street, Dublin

We had a really nice lunch here on a Saturday. They food (we went for salads, Beef Burger and Ham & Cabbage washed down with some homemade lemonade and craft ale) was very good and competitively priced. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and the service was fast, friendly and efficient. I will be back some evening as I want to try the cocktails !!

La Bodega Tapas y Vinos
93 Ranelagh Village, Dublin 6 , Ranelagh, Dublin

just dropped in for lunch on a saturday afternoon just before 1pm. We order house wine (which was good) and paella tapas. The paella arrived within minutes and was clearly not freshly made but reheated and even at that it was lukewarm ! We notified the waitress that it was the worst paella we had ever eaten. She offered to inform the Chef and offered no further help or compensation. Never again.

Cinnamon Ranelagh
87 Ranelagh, South Dublin, Dublin 6, Ranelagh, Dublin

had an enjoyable evening with friends here. Its best to think of it as a wine bar with some food rather than a restaurant. The menu is quite limited but the wine range extensive. Overall a nice atmosphere but the staff while friendly and helpful were very inexperienced. Overall a welcome addition and I would return.

Matt The Thresher Seafood Bar and Grill
31/31 Lower Pembroke Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

its a restaurant ... no its a bar....hmmm...actually it seems to be a bar specialising in food. On the night I was there with my partner it was mostly filled with diners and only a handful of people drinking at the bar. Overall it has a very smart and clean decor. Someone was singing and playing the piano which was really nice and the service was excellent - a very friendly and efficient waitress. The food (we ate seafood only) was average but there was a good choice and prices were reasonable. An enjoyable night overall and I hope they do well :-)

Siam Thai (Andrews Street)
14/15 Andrews Street, City Centre South, Dublin

I been here a few times and always enjoy it. I turned up without a reservation on Friday night and was promtly seated without a fuss. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the food was very tasty with just the right portion sizes. Prices are competitive too and really you can't go wrong here ! Enjoy

Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill
51 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin

went mid week with a group GOOD decor location atmosphere BAD asked for tip on top of 12.5% service charge had a nice but small crab starter. My main of rib eye steak was just average, not special but perfectly edible. Our waiter was efficient and knowledgeable and did a good job for a large group.
