Fish & Chips
Reviewed 07th March 2012 ( visited 02nd March 2012 )Got the menupages deal for here. Was really good value, 2 courses each for 2 people and a glass of wine or cocktail. Good selection of starters and main courses. Shared the nachos and chicken wings to start, and burrito and enchiladas for main course. Food was really good, the chicken wings were spicy and crispy, the beef burrito in particular was very very good. Would recommend and will be back.

Reviewed 04th December 2008 ( visited 26th November 2008 )Really liked this restuarant, has a bar area where they do casual dining, and also the restaurant part. Good selection of dishes on the menu, including a good value earlybird and cocktails. Was busy enough for a mid-week night. Will definitely go back.

2nd trip to the this restaurant in the last few months. A really enjoyable evening, lovely relaxed atmosphere and good service. Food was very good, courgette flower starter was very tasty and very nicely presented, pork belly a particular highlight, the white pudding was divine, my only complaint is i wanted more! A very good selection of wines at reasonable prices also.
60 Glasnevin Hill, Glasnevin, Dublin
Enjoyed a really good meal here. The early bird menu had good choices and was great value (2 courses €22). The chicken wings were delicious, as was the ribs main and the mussels. Could do with a house or carafe of wine for better value. Will be back.

Have been to this restaurant twice, 2 lovely meals. A fantastic early bird that was served all night on the night I visited. I had the gambas caesar salad, so tasty and fresh, followed by the pulled pork. A nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and comfortable surroundings. Will be one to return to.

Hugo's seems to be going downhill at a rapid rate. They are obviously not paying attention to the reviews, the food is not good. The bread brought out before dinner was stale, the pork starter was just plain awful/weird. Steak was ok. a bit tasteless, a little too fatty for my liking. Someone with me had the cod, small portion, tiny bit of rice, and nothing to write home about. Dessert was gorgeous, best of the evening. The last 2 times I've been in, there have been tiny flies flying around, look like fruit flies to me, very off putting. I won't go back.
The Cheese Pantry
104 Drumcondra Road Upper, North Dublin, Drumcondra, Dublin
This is a nice spot, and they have increased seating which makes it easier to get a table at busier times.Ordered a Feta/Pea/Mint salad. When it came, it was very "green", a big plate of lettuce. The feta was cut into tiny cubes, and was completely tasteless. It didn't crumble the way feta should and looked very plastic, very disapointing to be served this in a place that calls itself the Chees Pantry". Also, doesn't note where it's meat/chicken is sourced on it's menu.

I've eaten here a few times now, just love it. The pork belly is simply amazing. Love the decor, staff very friendly. Have only eaten the rijsttafel menus, love eating liek this as you get loads of bits, never left hungry!

Four of us went to dinner here, bringing 2 of the party out as a treat. Firstly, we were seated 40 minutes before getting our wine, between the delay in ordering it and it arriving. We let the waitress know we were waiting for this, she wasn’t that pushed and told us it was coming. It was hard to get anyone's attention initially to even order it. We ordered 2 bottles of wine, and for the entire meal we had to top up our own wine, it was not topped us for us even once, despite waiting for it to be! Had to ask for steak knife after main course arrived and was waiting quite a while for this, fairly basic that a steak knife should have been placed after starter was cleared. Waiting staff weren't attentive or friendly at all, in fact the place seemed short staffed. Worst of all, when bill came I checked the right amount of meals and bottles, and paid , leaving a basic 10% tip as service was not great. The maitre d' (or possibly he was the manager) picked the bill up off the table. It wasn't until looking at bill properly the next day that we saw there was service charge included at end of bill, I think it was very sly that this wasn't pointed out to us - a simple query with the table to confirm if they know that service charge is included is a simple courtesy. I was raging with this in particular. Worst of all, a follow email was sent, and never replied to. I have received better service in far more casual dining spots. Would not go back. On the plus side, food was great.
ely bar & brasserie
CHQ Building, Georges Dock, Dublin 1, City Centre, IFSC, Dublin
Overpriced and disappointing. Booked for lunch, and arrived to find we were seated downstairs as all tables upstairs seemed to be cleared away for Oktoberfest. Wish I'd been told this when booking, do not like downstairs at all, lacks atmosphere. Thought menu was way overpriced, Burger and chips for €17, and it was only ok. Ont the menu, the burger and Caesar salad are both marked Vegetarian, however, they are not - no veggie burger or veggie Caesar option available. I also find the wine menu very expensive, for a wine bar, there should be a wider choice of wines in the €20 - 25 bracket. Won't be back.
Hop House / Kimchi

Was here for a group night out - what a great place, food was delicious (Katsu Curry is the best) and the staff were so nice and friendly and helped celebrate a special occasion. Don't be put off by the pub look of the place when you go in, this is definitely worth a visit. Good value pitchers of beer as well to wash down with all the food. The menu is extensive, from snacks to full dinners. Food service would be like other Japanese restaurants where it comes out when ready, rather than starter - main course, but I like the way the meal just runs!

Douglas and Kaldi Restaurant
1 Ashtown Square, Rathborne Village, Ashtown, Dublin
First visit, and unfortunately won't be going back as it's a great location! Took quite a while to take our order, and we had been in the cafe 40 minutes before our food arrived. When it arrived, the cheese and tomato toastie was actually a ham sandwich with a hair in it, and cubes of funny looking ham at that! Waiter took it back, no apology. Instead of rushing out another, it took another 10 minutes. The 2nd dish ordered was a chicken salsa ciabatta - also had some cubes of ham in it for good measure. Food did not taste good, was not happy with how the situation was dealt with, and took ages to get bill. All the time, 2 manager types standing at till as there seemed to be something going on with till/ordering system. Shame as it's a nice location.
1A Carlingford Road, Drumcondra, Drumcondra, Dublin
Amazing crepes - I dream about them!! Also, fresh juices very tasty. Premises a little bit on the small side, but nicely decorated. Good selection on the menu. Have gone for lunch, but you have to be prepared for a wait. Not the type of place to be going on a one hour lunch break.
66/67 Great South Georges Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin
Another horror story to add about this restaurant. Saturday night reservations seem to be a problem with this restaurant. Waited 45 mins for a reserved table in the foyer of the restaurant along with many many other people, and bar was packed, not even offered a drink. Then tried to seat a party of 9 at a table for 6. Had to kick up to get the maitre d' to give us another table. Disgraceful and annoyed everyone in the party. The food is average, not bad, not remarkable. The service was slow and didn't get our main courses till about 11.30 - doesn't make for happy dining. Have not and will not return.

Superb restaurant - food is top quality, and the staff are always pleasant. Great value in general and also in early bird menus. Well worth a visit!
