I've been in to Ely several times for a glass or two of vino.... They have lots of wine by the glass so you can taste quite a few. I've shared the plate of cheese and meats and it was very, very good. Heading there next week for dinner and looking forward to it

WILDE
The Westbury, Grafton Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

We dined here last night and had the Dine in Dublin menu. It was a 3 course plus tea/coffee with a choice of 4 starters, mains and desserts for 30 euro. There was an excellent choice. The food was absolutely delicious. However it was the small touches that made the night. We had an amuse bouche to start and a small cornetto of chocolate mousse as a pre dessert. The petit fours with the teas/coffees were delicious, chocolate dipped strawberries and valhrona chocolate. On leaving the ladies in the group were presented with a small gift of steak seasoning, beautifully presented in a Westbury bag. The bill for 6 including two bottles of excellent New Zealand Sauvignon and 2 vodkas came to 275. An excellent meal!

Inis Meáin Restaurant & Suites
Inis Meáin, Aran Islands, Co. Galway, Aran Islands, Galway

Wow, the food here is amazing... we stayed in the suites for 2 nights and from start to finish it was fabulous... They leave a tray with your breakfast in the porch area so you can have it when you wish. On the tray were freshly baked brown bread and scones, muesli, yogurts, parma ham & cheese, boiled eggs, fresh fruit & orange juice. We had butter, jams and milk in the fridge and could make tea and coffee in the suite. We also had a packed lunch for our walk around the island... goats cheese and roasted vegetables with green and pomegranate salad and a bar of green and blacks chocolate... yummy!! Dinner was one of the best I've ever had... had worked up a good appetite during the day. Periwinkles to nibble on. I had a crab and manago salad to start which was delicious and Lobster for main course, both caught that day off the island. Potatoes freshly dug that day. Dessert was a beautiful chocolate tart. The restaurant was full the night we were there, a Tuesday in August. I would thoroughly recommend the island and a visit to Inis Meain Sseomrai So. You will enjoy it!

The Wild Goose Grill
First Floor, Above McSorleys, 1 Sandford Road, Dublin 6 , Ranelagh, Dublin

We ate here last Saturday night after reading about it in the Irish Times. The owner used to be the manager in Ely. Had a lovely night.... The service was a little slow but it suited us perfectly (probably finding their feet). We had a lovely bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon (and two glasses of house). We had mussels to share to start (lovely) and I had fillet and my husband had rib eye - both cooked to perfection and very good value at €25 (with sides included). The béarnaise was yummy but then I felt that the dauphinesses potatoes were a little dry. Dessert was a chocolate tarte which was delicious. My husband finished with a port. We will definitely be going back!!

Baan Thai (Ballsbridge)
16 Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

I love this place!! The food is excellent and I love the cosy atmosphere. We visit there so much that they recognise my voice on the phone!! It is also very reasonable - two main courses and a bottle of wine for the two of us comes in about 50 euro.

We were introduced to this restaurant by friends. We ate there one Saturday night when we couldn't get a table anywhere else!! The food is excellent and very reasonable. Have gotten take away from there several times since and it's very good. The restaurant is not fancy but they do good food
