Reviewed 10th February 2009 ( visited 10th February 2009 )I've eaten here a few times and the food really is divine. Not only that but the staff really know what they're talking about and are very helpful. The layout really appealed to me too. There are booths for couples and larger tables for groups in another area. There's a dance floor and on Saturday nights there's live music on the stage in the back. I love it.
Dinos Traditional Restaurant & Takeaway
Pier Road Kinsale, Kinsale, Cork
Reviewed 09th February 2009 ( visited 09th February 2009 )I love this place. When I lived in Kinsale I came here every week and was never let down. Very tasty fish and chips and all the usual favourites in casual dining. The restaurant is decked out to resemble a ship which provides a lovely atmosphere. Sit at the breakfast bar in the window to watch the seagulls and the rest of the world go by.
Bacco Ristorante Italiano
4-5 Chapel Lane, Ballincollig, Cork
I brought my husband here for his birthday on Saturday and we both fell in love with the place. It seems you really do need to make a booking here, it was packed and eventually they had to start turning people away. The Italian staff are SO friendly and jolly. For starters we had muscles and cheesey garlic bread which were substantial portions and very very tasty. Then my husband had the black sole, which was brought to the table on a beautiful platter of salad and shellfish. The waiter removed the head bones etc at the table and presented it on my husbands plate, which is a great way to add a little wow factor to the service. I had the steak with garlic and sundried tomato sauce. It was cooked exactly how I wanted it which is always a plus! Even though the restaurant was busy we felt in no way rushed or under pressure to move. After our coffees we were left to have a chat and were able to relax. It's by no means a cheap menu but you really do get what you pay for. Large portions of excellent food and fantastic service. I will definitely be going back.
Jacobs on the Mall
30A South Mall, Cork City, Cork
There are many words I would like to use to describe my experience here but none are very lady-like :/ I'm going to be nice and suggest that maybe the reason I was served up utter (insert word here) was because a lunatic broke in, tied up the chef and had a go himself. The vegetables were greasy, the meat chewy. Although I had a different meal to my friend, both dishes were floating in unreduced red wine jus which tasted burnt and greasy. Fortunately we didn't have to pay for one of the dishes as we complained about the food. I hate sounding so harsh but I'm being honest. I was so disappointed as I had heard great things. Saying that, my husband went there years before me and he enjoyed it.
Bishopstown, Bishopstown, Cork
I don't eat carvery so I can't comment on that but I have ordered from the evening menu a few times and I enjoyed the food. It's harmless, honest-to-goodness large portions of the usual pub grub favourites. And I love the atmosphere of the Bishopstown Bar.
The Ambassador Restaurant
3 Cook Street, Cork City, Cork
This is one of my favourite Chinese restaurants. The food is fantastic. There's no doubt it's on the pricey side but in my opinion it's well worth it. The attention to detail is wonderful. And to be honest they can charge me whatever they want for service because it is SUPERB. You are never left waiting, there is always a waiter nearby to grant your every request and there is no shortage of greetings and friendliness. A+
Soho Bar and Restaurant
77 Grand Parade, Cork City, Cork
I came here for lunch with my father and I thought the food was delicious. I had an asian stir fry which was fresh and clean and very tasty. My dad had a huge succulent cheese burger which he thoroughly enjoyed. Not bad value for money. And yummy cocktails too!
Wah Yun Chinese Restaurant
1A Main Street, Ballincollig, Cork
Although maybe lacking in atmosphere (also very bad music played - Westlife etc), the food here is good value and very tasty. The staff are very friendly and bubbly. I eat in and get take away quite regularly and I always enjoy the food.
The Granary Cafe
Waterford Museum of Treasure, Hanover Street, Waterford, Waterford City, Waterford
The quiches and tarts here are exquisite. So fresh and delicious. This is high-end stuff for a cafe. Unfortunately it lacks atmosphere as it is a bit like a canteen in a glass house attached to a beautiful old building. BUT the food makes up for it.
Henrietta Street, The Quays, Waterford City, Waterford
I really like the food here, although it's not all authentic asian cuisine. I guess the Thai chefs are catering to the masses. But the food is clean and fresh and tasty. The waitresses are quite haughty which bothers me as I was a waitress when I was younger and I never found it anything to be aloof about! It is quite good value for money though.
La Palma Ristorante Italiano
Parnell st, Waterford, Waterford City, Waterford
I've eaten here a few times and I love it. Firstly the decor is so fabulous I'd live there if I could. And there's a gorgeous cocktail bar upstairs that opens at the weekends, so you can relax and sip a tasty drink before sitting down to eat. The food is sublime, it really is, I can't fault it. It's expensive but well worth it. And there's a large selection of delicious wines to choose from. I don't remember anything spectacular about the service but to be honest I was probably just blown away by everything else.

Everything about this restaurant is simply gorgeous and authentic. A bit pricey but I ordered from the early bird menu when I was there which was fantastic value and not a bad selection either. I'm actually getting hungry thinking about the delicious boeuf bourguignon I had. It was perfect!

When I lived in Waterford this was my local Chinese, so needless to say I spent a lot of time here! The staff are so lovely and the food is very good. As another reviewer said it's a quiet reataurant but at least you're always guaranteed a table! Take-away is very good too.
Geoffs Cafe Bar
8/9 Johns Street, Please call us directly for Bookings 051-874787, Waterford City, Waterford
I've eaten here maybe 4 or 5 times and the place is so cool and relaxed it makes you want to kick off your shoes and chill out. It's an old pub and may be seen as sort of grungy by some people but I love that. It's clean and the food is so delicious. I'm surprised to see that some reviewers weren't happy with the service. I never had a problem with it personally, myself and my fellow diners were always fussed over and menu items changed around if necessary, eg if I wanted a main course size portion of a starter listed on the menu. I can't complain about any aspect of my visits there.

I've been here for lunch loads of times. Their paninis, salads and soups are delicious and all the staff are lovely. We got them to cater for our wedding and no regrets!!
36 The Quay Waterford, Waterford City, Waterford
A food lover's dream, fantastic food, fantastic service, fantastic atmosphere and very important, fantastic prices! I haven't a bad word to say about this place.
The Cottage Bistro
Cheekpoint Village, Waterford City, Waterford
I have eaten here on quite a few occasions, the seafood is delicious. They have also started to serve steaks which is great for non-fishy people and these are also very tasty. The staff are very friendly and the prices are quite reasonable. Another thing I love is that you get a complementary salad to start and it has the most delicious coleslaw I've ever had :)
The Glen, Kinsale, Cork
I wouldn't shell out for a place like Toddies very often but myself and my husband decided to treat ourselves and we found the whole experience to be excellent. We were seated on a heated terrace, and it being a warm Summers evening, it was hard to believe we were in Ireland. It definitely stood up to any high-end European restaurants we've visited. The staff were friendly and efficient, the service quick (although not so quick as to make you worry) and the food was delicious. There's no doubt that it's a pricey restaurant but we thoroughly enjoyed every morsel.
The Spinnaker Bar & Restaurant (Cork)
Scilly Kinsale, Kinsale, Cork
Yummy, seriously yummy! And with an elevated view of the water and the eclectic cosy interior, the atmosphere is relly something. Great service as well.
The Spaniard Inn
Scilly, Kinsale, Kinsale, Cork
One of my favourite bars of all time, tasty hearty food that has won awards and a wonderful traditional atmosphere. Stay afterwards for live music!
Short Quay, Kinsale, Cork
I have eaten in both the bar and the restaurant - both are fantastic but I prefer the bar for it's atmosphere and large tank of lobster! Seriously delicious hearty meals and quick service even though the place is always packed.

Cobra Tandoori Restaurant
69 Main Street, Kinsale, Kinsale, Cork
This was my first ever Indian restaurant experience as I had always been a little nervous of Indian food, but I have to say I loved it. The food was delicious, the staff warm and welcoming and the atmosphere was cosy and what I imagine to be authentic! Good prices too, would definitely go back.
Shearwater, Pier Road, Kinsale, Cork
I used to live next door to Vista so I was there on a number of occasions, and I have to admit each time I wondered why I went back. I found the waitresses to be quite haughty and unfriendly each time (I can only assume to give an air of exclusivity, but give me a smile any day!!), and to be honest, though the food is nice, it is too expensive for what you get. I was disappointed.
Thai Cottage - Closed
6 Main Street, Kinsale, Co. Cork, Kinsale, Cork
When I visited this restaurant I was was greeted warmly with a big smile from the Thai staff. It is a cosy restaurant with the kind of atmosphere you hope to get from Asian restaurants. The menu is massive - so much choice. My selection was a noodle dish and was absolutely delicious. I found it to be very good value for money. The service was very good, a real treat.
The Orgialla Restaurant @ Oriel House
Oriel House Hotel, Ballincollig, Cork
I was at this restaurant before Christmas with my husband and my parents. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and the whole experience. The decor is absolutely beautiful and really plays a part in the wonderful atmosphere. The service was good, and our waitress was very sweet and patient even when we tipped over a glass of water. The portions are of good size and we recieved many dishes of various potatoes and vegetables which I love. It's not cheap but the food is delicious and well worth it in my opinion.
