Having not visited the Old Mill for some time we decided to give it a go last Sunday and as per my previous review the food is still excellent, we had the carvery of turkey and bacon and it is one of the best carvery dinners around but what let them down badly this time was the lady on the cash desk who totally ignored me standing there with a tray of food waiting to pay while she chatted to a waitress. I paid and commented that my food would need to be reheated at this stage and she just glared at me, we ate our really nice food and left. We would seriously think twice before going back which is a pity because it is one of the nicer places locally, but they need some cashiers that realise that the customers pay their wages.

JD's Steakhouse
4 Rathfarnham Road, Dublin 6W, Terenure, Dublin

We visited here last Saturday night as part of a menu pages deal, our table wasnt ready when we arrived so we were directed to sit at the bar and have a drink which was fine, food was good, but small portions, waitress was very attentive, food a little on the pricey side but a pleasant experience none the less.

The Step Inn Lounge Restaurant
Enniskerry Road, Stepaside Village, Stepaside, Stepaside, Dublin

We visited the Step Inn at about 6pm last Friday which was a big mistake, don't get me wrong the service was great-friendly and fast, the food was also good, I had the free range chicken and my husband had the taco burger and we both really enjoyed them but the place was like a creche !! We were seated right in between 2 families with whinny moany kids and over bearing parents, one of them crawled all over my jacket which was on the seat beside me. Now I'm not saying children shouldn't be in the restaurant but the staff could seat them away from diners without children.

The Bridge House
Enfield, Enfield, Meath

we happened to stop here on a Wednesday evening for a bite to eat and im really sorry i dont live nearer to it as i would eat here all the time, the service was so good and fast and the food really good and huge portions, we both had the specials, chicken breast in a mushroom jus and veg and real homemade chips and my other half had beef which he said was best he ever tasted and he left there full which never happens,

Milano (Ranelagh)
Ground Floor & First Floor, 62 Ranelagh Village, Dublin 6, Ranelagh, Dublin

This was my first time in milano ranelagh ususlly we go to dundrum, the food is like always, really good especially the lighter pizzas with the salad in the centre but all the milano's have to get real with the prices of the wine when ordered per glass, its very expensive and on the night we were there service was slow as i dont think they had enough staff on as it was mid week but it wouldnt however put me off going back as i love the food

Baan Thai (Leopardstown)
Central Park, Block P, Dublin 18, Leopardstown, Dublin

Visited Bann thai in leopardstown using a voucher from menu pages and i felt the attitude to us change once they were aware of this, i found the service abrupt, the food was just ok, i found it a bit bland and not at all spicy even though my meal which was chicken cashew nuts was a 2chilli rating, my husband had roast duck sweet and sour and his was bit better than mine but he felt it was a bit cold, all in all i wouldn't return as there are much better thai restaurants in and around dublin that are cheaper also as i feel bann thai is quite expensive

profile_review

The Old Orchard Inn
76 Butterfield Avenue, Rathfarnham, Rathfarnham, Dublin

hadnt been to this place in years so decided to pop in for a bite one friday evening and i'm so glad we did, we didnt have starter but there were any number i would have picked, i had good old fish and chips and the chips are so good, like peeled potato chips and not frozen and my other half had a burger which he said was one of the best he'd tasted, there are mini options of some of the dishes for anyone who struggles to finish the bigger mains which is a great choice to have as i didnt finish mine as the portions are quite big, will be going back here again for sure.

profile_review

Yo Thai (Mount Merrion)
Kielys Of Mount Merrion, Deerpark Road, South Co. Dublin, Mount Merrion, Dublin

we visted this place as we'd gotten a menu pages deal and i can say we will never return, there were only handful of people in the resturant but we were all seated on top of each other and we were in a corner facing a wall, the service was efficiant but not at all friendly and through out our meal no one came near us once to check did we need anything or was all ok and when my husband only ate one of his fishcakes ( there were about 7 little ones ) no asked was it not ok, just as well as they were over cooked and tasted disgusting,my duck spring rolls were all batter, our mains of crispy chilli beef and thai chicken was ok but nothing more, over all a not great experience.

profile_review

Brady's (Terenure)
7-9 Terenure Place, Terenure, Dublin

this was my 2nd vist to brady's and it was a bit disappointing,it was busy but there was only one waitress serving the whole place, she was very efficient and polite but she can only do so much on her own so we had to wait a while for everything including the bill, i opted for the starter of roast portebello mushrooms and a portion of onion rings insead of a main course, the mushrooms were not the same as i'd had the previous time and there was definatly less of it and the onion rings were awful, they were the type you buy frozen in a supermarket and throw in a fryer or oven i didnt eat them and was still hungry so had to order chicken wings but they still appered on my bill !! my husband had fish and chips which he really enjoyed but bradys will need to up their game a bit if they dont want to loose customers

profile_review

Sawadee Thai
94 Terenure Road East, Dublin 6, Dublin 6w, Terenure, Dublin

i can not praise this place enough, from service to value to the gorgoeous food, a visit to Sawdee is a must. The staff are the friendliest and most pleasent that ive encountered in quite a while, well done.

profile_review

Gotham South
4 Kilmacud Road Lower, Stillorgan, Dublin

popped in here for dinner one sat evening with husband and 2 teenagers who both had pizza and cleared their plates, the husband had a burger and said it was very good and was huge, i had calzone which i wouldnt have again, thougt it was a little greasy and bit too much bread for me but overall good food, service and value-€75 for above mealls plus 2 garlic bread 5 soft drinks and 1/2 bottle of wine, will definatly go back.

profile_review

Greens Restaurant
Leopardstown Inn, Brewery Road, Leopardstown, Dublin

Ate here last night with 2 friends and was very impressed, the food was really good, i had the fish of the day which was cod on a really nice mash with veg on side while both my friends had turkey and ham which they really enjoyed, service was good too and not too long to wait which i was surprised at as there was a christmas party going on while we were there, only small gripe is i feel €25 is little expensive for 2 course-starter and main or main and desert but otherwise great service food and setting.

profile_review

Dante (Dundrum)
Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin

last night was my first time here and i will not be rushing back, the brie and the chicken tenders were deep fried far too much and were dry and tasteless, the rio grande pizza tasted nice it was very small for an adult. The chicken bake was tasteless as was the garlic bread and to top it all off i was very annoyed to find that our 5% service charge doesnt go to the server but to the kitchen!! i'm sorry i didnt refuse to pay it and give it directly to our server who was very nice and looked after us brilliantly and deserved it more than someone that cooks not great food.

profile_review

Lamb Doyles
Blackglen Road, Sandyford, Dublin

when we ate here for the first time we both had the chicken sharabi and i have to say it was good and the value and service here is fab too, worth a visit, nice scenery too

profile_review

Nancy Murphys
Church Hill Road, Enniskerry, Enniskerry, Wicklow

Recently this place has changed hands and menu and i think the old menu was better having said that there were 6 of us here last fri evening and we all enjoyed our meals which consisted of garlic mushrooms, chicken wings, pate 2 steak sandwiches,1 fish & chips and 3 sizzeling chicken, all food was really good and price €150 which included 1btl wine, 1 glass and 5 beers was very reasonable, only downside we waited 50mins for our mains and there were kids running up and down screaming at 7.30 in the evening, dread to think what it would be like on a sunday afternoon

profile_review

Le Petit Cochon
Glasthule Road, Sandycove, Dublin

nice place and good food and service, not sure if the early bird is good value or not, try the brie its really good

profile_review

Cortina’s Mexican Restaurant
The Pembroke District, Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin

This is one of the best places i've eaten in a very long time.brilliant food and staff that are genuinely nice and friiendly and can not do enough for you, between our party of 4 we had guacamole, natchos and mexican tapas to start and enchilladas and burritos for mains and i had the pollo negra which is a blackened chicken with cheese accompanyed by a little tower of sweet potato and another of red rice and pinto beans. i dont usually have a big appitite but i cleared my plate it was so good and the price €120 for 3 starters,4 mains,1 expresso, 2 glasses of wine,3 beers and a really nice touch for a pregnant member of our party a nojito, mojito without the alcohol which looked and tasted like the real thing, you HAVE to visit this place

profile_review

Brambles Cafe - Dundrum

had lunch here with a friend and found it to be very good, a little pricey but it is dundrum, service good and food tasty and will return.

profile_review

The Step Inn Lounge Restaurant
Enniskerry Road, Stepaside Village, Stepaside, Stepaside, Dublin

ate here last night with 5 others and i we all agreed that the food is really good value for what you get, the early bird is €16.50 for 2 courses, try the fish cakes which by all accounts were really good as were the burgers but beware the thai green curry is quite spicy. Waitress service was excellent and the call button facility on the tables is a great idea, all in all good service, value and food.

profile_review

BRASS Bar & Grill
Talbot Hotel Stillorgan, Stillorgan Road, South Dublin, Stillorgan, Dublin

had heard lot of good reports about this place so decided to give it a try. we found the staff very friendly and service good and had no cmplaints about the food which was good value and really nice

profile_review

Vina Mara Restaurant

on a visit to this resturant recently i had the seared duck while my husband had the pork and both were really good. service very good also, well worth visit for a special occasion as maybe little expensive

Milano (Dundrum)
Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin

This was my first visit to milano's in dundrum. I went with my 2 sister's before a movie for an early dinner and we were all very happy with our food, we had between us for staters a ceser salad mushroom bruschetta and a mozzerela and tomato salad and for mian course we all had various pizza's with salad's in the middle which made them much lighter, the service was very good only thing that surprised us was the forwardness of the waiter whom after we'd paid our bill and were still sitting at the table helped himself to the tip right on front of us and added it to a roll of notes in his pocket !!

profile_review

The Lobster Pot (Donegal)
Main Street, Burtonport, Donegal

Check your burgers here- i ate here as part of a party of 8 on easter sunday, between us for starters we had crab claws, garlic mushrooms and mozzerella sticks which were all very good but when one of our party ordered pate she had to chase someone to get toast or something with it, for mains i had pasta, chicken and peppers in a tomato and garlic sauce which was boring, the chowder was apparentlly very good as was the salmon and aspargus pasta but we had major problems when one of our childrens burgers was undercooked for our liking, the manager who was very nice could not have apologised enough and brought another one but shock horror on inspecting another childs half eaten burger it was found to be the same, again it was all apologies and a different burger but imagine our surprise when both appeared on our bill and not even a bowl of ice cream on the house for the children, not good, sorrys are all very well but actions speak louder than words.

profile_review

The Porterhouse (Parliament Street)
Parliament Street le Bar, Temple Bar, Dublin

had quick bite to eat here with a friend on our way home from somewhere and would deffo go back, really nice chicken skerwers and grilled marinated chicken, my friend opted for a steak sandwich which was really good, good all round value and nice place.

profile_review

Luigi Malones Restaurant
5/6 Cecilia Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

eating here on a really busy st patrick's day should have been a disaster but it was far from it, from the minute we walked in the door till we left the staff and in particular 2 people i persume were managers could not have been more attentive. There were 8 in our party and between us we covered a lot of the food, the calamari was the best my sister had ever had and my husband hasnt stopped raving about the leek and potato soup, kids had pizza off the very clever pre teen menu- € 9.90 for main, dessert and drink, not bad at all, my peri peri chicken was a little boring but my husband said the burger was really good. all in all a great place, good food, service and value and we'll definatly be back.

profile_review

Saba
26-28 Clarendon Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

we ate here for the 1st time on valentines night and will go back again, food and service was great and the special of 3 courses for €25 was great value. warning though 3 stars is quite spicey.

profile_review

F.X. BUCKLEY Steakhouse Crow Street
2 Crow Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

i ate here with a party of 15 as a birthday celebration and found the food and service to be really good, no one had any complaints about the food and the salmon in particular was really good as were the crab cakes, my particular favorite was the baileys creme brullee, i dont normally favour desserts but very few places do this desert so i had to try it and i have to say it was delicous, only little gripe would be that our party was spread over 2 tables and we hadnt been told about this when we booked.

profile_review

Mexico to Rome
23 East Essex Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

I have to say my only complaint about this place is there is so much to choose from on the menu that ordering can be a prob but ill be returning lots of times so intend to sample all i can as going on the experience myself and my husband had here last week its all good we both had brusetta and buritos which were really good and good value, only down side we had to try hard to get anyones attention when we wanted anything -even the bill and i've still a bruise on my arm from where i hit off toilet roll holder in what has to be smallest toilets ever and i'm 5 ft tall and 7stone so unless ur tiny hold it till later.......

profile_review

Casa Pasta & Pizza (Donnybrook)
3 Eirpage House, Donnybrook Road, (Opp Rugby grounds), Donnybrook, Dublin

Will not be retuning here untill summer even though the food was really good the place was freezing so much so half our party of 8 didnt take our coats off for the entire stay and it really spoiled our afternoon and quite frankly when you spend €200 plus euro you expect some heating. On to the food- between us we had pizza- deep fried brie, blue cheese salad, chicken wings, burger, quessidella, and salmon and pasta and everyone said their meal was really good, the staff were very friendly and on hand if we needed anything but over all our experience was bad as even though waitress said heating was on it was freezing in this place so dont go in cold weather.

profile_review

The Leopardstown Inn
Brewery Road, Stillorgan, Dublin

hadnt been to the lep in for a while so decided to pop in on sunday last and i have to say i dont know where all the friendly and helpful staff mentioned in some of the reviews were on our visit !!! there were plenty of staff but none keen to help you unless you were what i consider " local ", we were waiting ages for food and while eating had to attract with great difficulty a waitress to get another drink, no one asked us was everything ok and we were blatently ignored when we tried to get the bill so i had to go to the bar to get it but 2 men sitting near us that were obviously known to staff had drinks before they even asked for them, food quite good but very put off by terrible service, lots of young staff wandering around and chatting to each other at the bar, wont be back again.

profile_review

Pizza Hut (Dundrum)
Unit CSA, 2M Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin

this place does excatly what it says on the tin- good value fast food and good service

profile_review

Scholars Pub
Old Court Centre, Firhouse, Dublin

WEIRD< when i asked someone that i persume was a manager about a dressing for my very basic salad he said there was none, i asked could i have some balsamic vinegar if they had a big bottle in kitchen i'd just use a bit and give it back, he told me they'd done and there was vinegar in sachets on counter- yuck what kind of resturant doesnt have balsamic vinegar in there kitchen and it wasnt even busy so he had no excuse he just couldn't have been bothered looking !!!!

profile_review

Horse & Hound (Dublin)
The Horse & Hound, Cabinteely, Cabinteely, Dublin

i ate here with a friend last friday evening, i used to live in the area but hadnt been in the horse and hound for years and was very impressed with the food, we shared a starter of garlic mushrooms and then we both had the chicken ceaser salad and i have to say it was one of the best i've ever had, just the right amount of everything in it and later on the chef came over to our table to check everything was ok, a really personal touch i thought, overall service food and value brilliant in the horse and hound.

profile_review

Speaker Connolly
Firhouse Road, Tallaght, Dublin

Worst waitress award i feel goes to this place- i've eaten here a few times and always found the food to be really good and great value for money, they do pizza which pleases my teenage son, true the place needs a bit of a do up but they have totally re-done the toilets so thats a start, unfortunatly what the reviews say about the staff can be true, i was there 3days ago and the waitress that served us was fine but there was another one that looked at me with disdain when i asked for ice-cream for my niece and told me before i got a chance to say anything that she wasn't taken any more food orders, she then took my drink off the table before i'd finished it and glared at me as she went !! with staff like this they'll be out of customers soon enough and wont have to worry about doing place up.

profile_review

Eden Bar & Lounge
Grange Road, Rathfarnham, Dublin

havent been here for a while and am now asking myself why ??? the food is really good, i had chicken breast stuffed with brie and brocoli on a bed of pesto mash and a side salad which is not as per other places- a tomato plonked on a lettuce leaf, my husband had turkey and ham, which he really enjoyed, looking at the menu though i saw lots of things that i'd like to try when i visit again, good service too and the price- €42 for 2mains, 2 small bottles of wine and a non-alcohlic beer, not bad at all.

profile_review

Merry Ploughboy Pub
Edmondstown Road, Rockbrook, Rathfarnham, Dublin

We've eaten here several times and are never dissapointed. The food is always top notch and the service is brilliant in fact last time we popped in it was very busy and the waitress went out of her way looking everywhere to find us a table which she did and the food was as usual much better than the normal pub grub and great value.

profile_review

Tamara Restaurant
Unit 11/18 Belgard Square, Tallaght Town Centre, West Dublin, Tallaght, Dublin

Having read all the reviews on this place we just had to visit and i have to say we weren't disappointed, the only thing i didnt like about this restaurant was the tables are very close together and we could hear all the conversation from the couple sitting beside us and this hampered our conversation a bit as we felt we were being listened to, on the plus side the food was really good value for what we got and the service was top quality and very friendly, would definaltly go back but this time if i didn't like the table i'd ask to move.

profile_review

Chrysanthemum Chinese Restaurant
Unit 1 Old Orchard Inn, Butterfield Ave, Dublin 14, Rathfarnham, Dublin

I went here last week with a group of girlfriends. We'd booked for 7 people and wondered why the table was set for 8, in fact we were only 6 on the night but that didnt stop them charging us service charge which is why the table was set for 8. Rather sneaky we thought but luckily I spotted it before they took bill back, as along with €19.10 service charge we'd left €30 tip, which we hastily took back. Food wise nothing really good to say, the duck was ok but rest of the dishes were just ok, much better places around Firhouse and Tallaght with bit more atmosphere and honest staff, wont be going back.

profile_review

Thunder Road Cafe
Fleet Street, Dublin 2, Temple Bar, Dublin

Ate here for the 1st time last night as part of a group of about 20 and found the place great in terms of location and atmosphere. The staff were friendly but the food is terrible. I had chicken enchiladas, which in fairness had a lot of chicken in them but nothing else so they were boring and dry and were covered in a disgusting cheese. My side salad was covered in a mustard dressing, this wasn’t mentioned when I ordered it. My son had a pizza from the children’s menu and how they get away with calling it a pizza is amazing to me. It’s a small round piece of bread soggy with more disgusting cheese and big lumps of cold tomato!! My son cried as he thought he'd have to eat it but I said no way and sent it back even though we'd waited an hour for it. In the end, he had chicken pieces and chips. Wouldn’t go back in a fit!!

Overall this restaurant was nothing special and a little over priced for what your getting not bad service though.

Cactus Jacks (Middle Abbey St)
Millennium Walkway, Middle Abbey Street, City Centre North, Italian Quarter, Dublin

This is my second time here and wont be the last. There were 4 of us for dinner on sat night and nobody had any complaints about the food or service which were both excellent. The waiter that served us could not have done more for us, if i had one gripe it would be that I had chicken enchiladas and there was very little chicken in it in fact I'd say there were about 5 or 6 small bits rest was all veg, not enough to put us off though, well done to all it cactus jacks your doing a great job, brilliant food, staff, prices and atmosphere.

profile_review

The Old Mill Bar And Restaurant
Old Bawn Road, West Dublin, Tallaght, Dublin

The food here is very good, from the carvery to the evening menu, basic food, good value and huge portions. The veg lasagne is really very good. The carvery gets very busy on Sunday’s so be ready to stand in the Q and order fast!!

profile_review

Diva Restaurant & Piano Bar
The Harbour, Greystones, Wicklow

I'd like to know where all the attentive staff that I’ve read so much about on Diva's reviews were yesterday when we visited Diva? The service was terrible, ok it was Mother's Day and they were busy but when one of your party has to leave the table each time something else is needed its a bad show and then to have a hefty service charge added is an insult. In fairness to the manager he did remove this after I pointed out I wasn't paying for something I didn't get. On the food side we all found our meals delicious, the only negative thing I could say is when you have pasta as a side order it comes in a tomato sauce which can be a bit much when your meal has a different sauce on it and children's pizzas are way too expensive €7.95 and extra toppings €1.00. All in all a bit disappointing maybe we'll try it another time before writing it off completely.

profile_review

Bakers Corner
Kill Avenue, Kill O’The Grange, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

Have eaten here lots of times and its always a firm favourite with our kids as they can have pizza while we can chose from a good selection of chicken, or meat dishes. It does get busy at weekends though and sometimes you have to go on a waiting list just to order but once you order its not usually that long of wait before your food arrives, good value for money and the staff are friendly, what more could you ask for??

profile_review

Paparazzi
Unit 4 Old River House, Templeogue, Dublin

We held our family meal here after my sons confirmation. They had a set menu but it was no problem to use the lunch menu which we all did and all 11 of us were more than happy with our meal as usual and the service could not have been better- they asked us several times if everything was ok and when there was a slight delay with my sister's pizza due to a small mistake with the order they brought her a glass of wine without even asking did she want it, now thats good service and it was very good value also.

La Dolce Vita - The Chase

i only have short comment to make and that is try the chicken and veg chowder it is to die for the very best chowder/soup i've ever had and all there soups are home made.

profile_review

Reeves Restaurant
172 Templeogue Road, Dublin 6w, Templeogue, Dublin

Ate here for the first time recently and really enjoyed it, there were four of us and we all had only good things to say about the food especially the scallops and prawns, the only 2 bad things I’ve heard about this place came separately from two vegetarian friends neither of whom eat fish and both felt there weren't enough options for them. Over all though this is a great place and the staff are very nice and helpful even when I changed my mind about what I wanted after I’d ordered.

profile_review

The Chili Club
Anne's Lane, South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

A relation of mine tried for ages to get us here as he'd eaten here a couple of years ago and thought the food was great- but not on the night we went, the service was slow, they had crammed in a big loud party beside us and they kept banging off my chair each time they went to the toilet, we could have overlooked this if the food had been good but it was like a microwave meal-bland cold and tasteless and way too pricey definitely wont be going back.

profile_review

Scent Garden Restaurant
1st Floor Scholars Pub, Ballycullen Road, Tallaght, Tallaght, Dublin

Went here for a meal with some girlfriends having met in the pub downstairs, when it got to our meal time we went upstairs taking our un-finished drinks with us (you don’t have to leave the building the stairs is inside) big mistake- the waiter that greeted us got a bit irate and told us we could have them this time but never again!! People starred, how humilating, never the less we enjoyed our meal and all felt the food was really good, portions huge, consider sharing.

Kandu Catering @Sandyford House Cafe Bar
Sandyford Village, Sandyford, Sandyford, Dublin

Great food, always something here for everyone no matter what your taste, great value for money too. Last time I was there it was no problem for my son to have a half portion of the adult evening menu as the usual kiddy meals don’t appeal to him. Waiting staff are always pleasant and helpful too.

Meghna Tandoori
8-12 Terenure Place, Dublin 6, Terenure, Dublin

Food and service faultless here as always if I had one complaint it would be that on the 2 occasions I’ve been here we've left cash for bill on the little plate provided and both times they didn't bring back change, while we had intended to leave this as a tip anyway we all found it a bit presumptuous on their part.
