visited here on a first date, one of the best meals i've had in a long time. we had the antipasti to start which was delicious, the mediterranean vegetables and parma ham was my favorite. i had the agnolotti, lovely rich sauce, very filling and a great portion size. He had the fettuccine pasta fresca. he loved it, i wasn't overly keen. The wine selection was great and reasonably priced. the tiramisu was beautiful for desert. the staff were fantastic and so welcoming, attentive yet not in your face. will definitely be back!

Great authentic italian piazza's done well - it's as simple as that! we sat outside on a mild thursday evening, there were no outdoor heaters which i found odd. Inside was quite busy which would explain why we had to wait 15mins to give our order. This particular Milano's is always busy coming up to the weekend so there should be no excuse for understaffing. We didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive thankfully, we both had pizza's although i had the leggera option, which was wonderful with the added salad. After our meal we had coffee's outside too. There were several tables with dirty plates about with no attempt to clean them, this is my pet hate in restaurants! The are great choices on the menu, which are great value. Will definitely be back to Milano's if not this particular branch.

Metro Cafe
43 South William Street, South William Street, Dublin

i normally pop in here for a quick coffee, i love the outdoor seating, its a great place to people watch! i decided to treat myself for breakfast and choose the the metro special. i have to say i was very disappointed. while the eggs and bacon were spot on, the pancakes were the packet variety thrown into a mircowave and heated up. anywhere advertising for brunch with pancakes on the menu serves the fresh batter variety. service was slow even though there was only two other tables inside. in future i'll be sticking to just coffee

Mulberry Garden
Mulberry Lane, (directly behind the Bang & Olufsen Store), Dublin 4, Donnybrook, Dublin

Simply sublime. I love the idea behind this restaraunt. Two starters, two mains, two deserts and a weekly menu change. While the lack of choice would cause problems for most diners, it allows the chef to fully commit to each dish and explore his creativity. We decided to have both starters and deserts between us. I chose the beef raviloo with mushroom consumee. The meat was beautifully tender and the consumee added to already exceptionally flavoured dish. We both chose the duck for mains and had it cooked rare to medium. Im a huge fan of duck and this was up there with the best. We finished our meal with a cheese board and a set custurd with spiced milk ice cream-devine! The timing of the meal between courses was great and service was exceptionally friendly yet they didnt hovver. We had an early booking and the restarunt was packed by the time we were finished with people waiting in the bar yet we weren't pushed from our table which can be the norm in most busy eateries. A particular mention has to be there outside smoking area. A small garden cadle lit and surrounded by fairy lights with woolen throws on each seat and James Vincent McMurrow playing through their speakers - devine. Will absolutely be back again!

TGI Friday (St Stephens Green )
St Stephens Green, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I hadnt been to TGI's in years and went with a friend after work. They have a great value menu for 15euro for two courses which we choose. I had the jack daniels burger, he had the veggie burger. Presentation wasn't great to be honest and the portion of fries was very small. It was busy and our drinks took far too long to arrive. We asked for more jack daniels sauce which we eventually got but our food was cold by that time. This place simply needs more staff. We were sat on the far platform almost touching elbows with another table. Conversation was hard to make as our neighbors were so close. The menu hasnt changed that much over the years but it does good basic food at good prices

Mao Restaurant (Chatham Row)
2-3 Chatham Row, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I popped in here recently for a friends birthday, it was a monday, 7pm and the restaurant was very quiet, but service was awful. We ordered cocktails to begin with and what arrived our table could only be described as weak fruit juice and a dash of vodka. Very disappointing. Our food came quick, but service was without smiles and lacking manners the majority of the time. The only saving grace of Mao is their food, simple and flavoursome. Between us we had the honey ginger pork, chilli chicken ramen, Singapore noodles and hong kong chicken. its so hard to fault their food but i wouldnt be inclined to go back, their mao at home option would definitively tempt me

Bakers Corner
Kill Avenue, Kill O’The Grange, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

We popped in here after coming back from Kiliney beach by chance, having heard about it from friends we decided to try it having passed it. We visited about 6 on a monday evening and it was buzzing! There was a couple of people having food but the pub was mainly busy with after work drinkers. If the atmosphere is like that on a monday, it must be a great spot on the weekends. Theres a great selection and we both went for cajun chicken, I had a wrap, she had a ciabatta. Its essentially simple pub grub but big on flavour. Our dishes came with chips and such was the portion we couldn't finish it. The pub itself is quite a large venue with lots of side rooms and nooks and crannys to hide an sip your pint in peace. Theres a great sized smoking area thats well decorated. Staff are really friendly and not at all intrusive. Will definitely be back!

The Counter Dundrum
Pembroke District, (adjacent to the Mill Pond at Town Square), Dundrum, Dublin

This was the second time i ahd been here and was a little disappointed that they had changed the menu, certain toppings and sauces are no longer available. Never the less the do one of the best burgers in Dublin. Avoid the turkey burger if possible, i was disappointed with it, but really turkey shouldn't be in a burger at all - my mistake. My favorite combo had to chicken on honey wheat, with cashel blue, peppers, olives and relish - fantastic! Their milkshakes are overpriced i have to say, and not overly amazing. We got a combo of fries and sweet potato fries which at 6.25 wasn't the best value for the portion we received. Service was great, everyone is so friendly there, however it can be quite claustrophobic. They really need to rethink there seating arrangements, the table next to you is almost bumping elbows at times. Great place but definitely not for dates!

Key Largo
1/2 Canal Street, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny

Two courses for 10 euro, i dont think anyone is expecting Michelin standard but it is quite nice. The bruscetta is the standout dish as far as starters are concerned, portion was small but thats what you pay for.Really flavorsome and leaves you wanting more. The pizzas are really where you get proper value. Great size and they have an amazing authentic italian crust. The burritos, actually fajitas, are tasty if not exactly spicy. Pasta dishes are great too particularly the chicken and mushroom. We didn't have desert or wine but the wine list seemed to be great value. As it was so quite, it was a Sunday evening, the service was a little over attentive, something i really don't like when i eat out.

Gotham Cafe
8 South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

after hearing good reviews from friends, i visited here with a friend for dinner. it has a great selection of pizzas however i felt the mains selection was poor. i chose the butternut squash and pumpkin seed linguini, the potion was small and was just above lukewarm. the butternut squash wasn't fully cooked, with some of it cooked to perfecton while other pieces half cooked. my friend ordered a pizza and was given the wrong order so we had to wait a further 10mins for his correct dish. the staff apologized but did not offer any consolation other than this. we both had deserts which weren't anything spectacular. great value, two mains and deserts and a bottle of wine for 50euro but overall a disappointing experience.
