I've been visiting the "Troc" forever. The atmosphere and ambiance are what makes it special. I had the roast beetroot and goats cheese to start which was fantastic followed by the Sole on the bone and off with the sticky toffee pudding and an Irish coffee. Bliss! The cocktails are great too

Mexico to Rome
23 East Essex Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

Went here with my girlfriend for a quick spot of lunch. We were drawn to the great value lunch menu. We had no reservation but were given a table in the front of the restaurant (it has 2 parts) by the door which wasn't the most pleasant on a cold, icey day. I had the quesadilla to start which was pretty average followed by the "Tex-Mex" burger. The burger even though topped with chilli con carne was bland and just about lukewarm and the chips soggy. Not an enjoyable meal. The glass of house red tasted more like a vinaigrette. Nasty. The double espresso as the best part of the entire meal. Our waitress was nice but spent more time running around like a headless chicken than anything else. She didn't charge me for my coffee as a way of apologising for making us wait 20minutes to get and pay the bill. Won't be back
