Have been to Chai Yo many times and plan on coming back many more. Usually we dine downstairs but had the pleasure of taking part in the Teppanyaki for my birthday and it was fantastic. The showmanship that the chef puts in is fantastic and the food is absolutely delicious. I also recommend the hot ice cream for dessert. The staff here were brilliant considering we arrived just as they were about to close on a Sunday night, without a reservation and they seated us and didn't rush us at all. We didn't actually realise they closed at 10 until we were leaving.

I was very surprised by this place as we just chanced upon it on our way back from a day in the park. The menu was very varied and the food was tasty if nothing really special. I'd definitely come back though

Zen Thai
17 Main Street, Newbridge, Newbridge, Kildare

Whenever my friends come to visit I bring them to Zen Thai for Teppen Yaki. The whole show from start to finish is amazing and everybody has a good laugh. The food is usually very good too, with a choice of a special mix of steak fish and chicken or you can go for a single entree. You get either Chicken and sweetcorn soup or Miso soup. The chicken and sweetcorn is the best option as the Miso is very salty and sometimes smells fishy. All in all this is well worth doing if there is a party of you.

Hanged Man's
Milltown, Newbridge, Kildare, Newbridge, Kildare

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! This is one of the best places I've ever eaten. I came here with my partner and parents just before Christmas and everything from the atmosphere, to the food to the service was A class. Our Waitress couldn't do enough for us, and there was no point where our needs weren't met. As for the food, I had the Roquefort Medallions which were exquisite and my sides and starters were just delicious. Everybody in my party commented on how delicious the food was and we all polished off everything put in front of us. My only comment would be that it was a bit disappointing to not be able to choose your dessert, they only have an option of a plate of mini dessert selections or a cheese board, and the cheeseboard was exceptionally overpriced for the size of it. Everything else was brilliant though and I will definitely go back.

Pretty average fare. Soups, sandwiches...nothing overly exciting or imaginative

Donatellos Italian Restaurant (Newbridge) - Closed
Eyre Street Lower, Newbridge, Kildare

We came here on a Sunday night just off the street and at first I was dubious. They had the lights turned down so low you could hardly see, and I suspected this was to detract from grotty decor. One bite of my starter allayed any fears I had. It was delicious. We had the tastiest Ministrone soup followed by two of the biggest fillet steaks we had ever seen. My husband eats his steaks very blue and it was cooked to perfection. The fact that the Chef came out to talk to everybody in the restaurant was a lovely touch. It was a pricey meal but well worth every penny given the quality of the food and the atmosphere. We'll be back and we'll be bringing friends!

Thaiger Restaurant

I love this place and if I have friends down for a meal I'll always bring them here. It's great for take away too. The decor is lovely, the staff efficient and the food is always delicious, particularly the starters.

Swifts of Newbridge Grill Room
Main Street, Newbridge, Newbridge, Kildare

I eat here regularly since I've moved down from Dublin and I can see why it's one of the most popular places in Newbridge. The carvery is delicious, the portions are generous and the staff are very welcoming. I also find it's great value for money.

Tante Zoes
1 Crow Street, Temple Bar, Temple Bar, Dublin

I had my first visit here on Saturday night and had read the other reviews on here first, so I was steeling myself for some bad service but delicious food. We had the nicest waiters ever. They were fantastic, attentive, jovial and quick. I had the meatballs to start and my companion had the cheese roll, both of which appeared very quickly and were eaten just as quickly. We then both had a chicken Caesar salad which was very filling and tasty. This was washed down with two jugs of their lethal punch, which made walking back down the stairs a wobbly affair. At €86 for two starters, two mains and two jugs of punch I thought it was excellent value and can't wait to go back. I think next time I'll try the Gumbo!

Avoca Cafe (Suffolk Street)
Avoca, 11 Suffolk Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Very overpriced but if you want good wholesome food instead of the usual lunch fare then it's worth a visit. Not the sort of place to sit and be leisurely however. We were hounded out of our seats

The Market Bar
Fade Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Loved it here. A large group of us went on a Saturday night and got a huge selection of food and it worked out at €16 a head. There were no dishes that had any leftovers it was all so delicious. I came back several times with my partner and particularly love the way the staff don't let you get carried away and order too much!!! Great all round.

Chatham Brasserie
Chatham Street, City Centre South, Dublin

We dined here as a foursome and while the food was delicious it wasn't very exciting. My partner ordered Dauphinoise potatoes but what he got was a slab of what looked like yesterdays potatoes, which had been mashed together and roasted! Best part of the meal was the Banana Split, which two of us shared. Well worth the wait.

La Cave
28 South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Four of us ate here and I have very mixed feelings about the place. The food and drink was to die for. My fillet was cooked to perfection as were it's accompaniments but the service was very rushed. My companion didn't even have time to wipe his mouth before his plate was whipped away. We arrived at 8.30pm and were out and all having had a 4 course meal by 10pm. The toilets were smelly and not pleasant also. I'd go back for the food but don't think I'd recommend it to people.

TGI Friday (St Stephens Green )
St Stephens Green, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Overpriced and the food has a tendency to come out cold. However the staff are very friendly and it's a good place to go with a group, as the party atmosphere is good. The cocktails are excellent too.

Trocadero
St Andrew Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I love this place so much...it's like relaxing with your friends in your living room, I have to stop myself from putting my feet up on the chair and lying back. The staff are really friendly and think nothing of sitting in with you for a chat. The food is great too, really simple but cooked deliciously.
