This place hasn't changed in years apart from a major deterioration in the food. The chef has a terrible attitude and the portions are a joke. Not much competition around but I would avoid at all costs in the future. Pity as it used to be a cracking spot back in the day.

The Bram Stoker
225 Clontarf Road, North Dublin, Clontarf, Dublin

Dirty old night so not much in the way of atmosphere. The service was excellent and the girl who looked after us was super friendly. The wings and burger were both amazing!

Brasserie 7
The Capel Building, Capel Street, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin

Visited for a late lunch so the place was quite. Service was very good and friendly. Food was faultless. Mains of Cod & Chicken were wolfed down! Baileys cheesecake for dessert was excellent too.

JD's Steakhouse
4 Rathfarnham Road, Dublin 6W, Terenure, Dublin

Going to JD's a few years now, we have to travel to it but it is well worth it. Having said that prices are increasing while portions for sides are getting a little less lately. What brings us back is the superb steaks! Absolutely mouth watering! Service is excellent and super friendly. Well done to all at JD's!

Platform 61
27 South William Street, South William Street, Dublin

Weekday night and restaurant quite empty, therefore no atmosphere. Service was very good. Food was nice but I would have considered it expensive for what we got had we not have had a voucher.

The Upper Deck
Harbour Road, Above the Waterside Pub, Howth, Dublin

Dined here on a few occasions, nice restaurant and service is friendly and efficient. The food is very good. I have always gone for the fillet steak which is excellent but I would prefer proper chips as opposed to fries, otherwise cannot fault anything. Next time I might try the belly buster burger, it looks impressive!

Vikings Steakhouse
225 Clontarf Road, Dublin 3, Clontarf, Dublin

Very nice decor and service. We both had caesar salad to start the steak on the stone with various sides for the main. The food was superb, extremely tasty and we both left full. Restaurant was quite but it was early and it was getting busier when we were leaving. The girl who served us was very pleasant. This is a hidden gem and we shall return!

Cactus Jacks (Middle Abbey St)
Millennium Walkway, Middle Abbey Street, City Centre North, Italian Quarter, Dublin

Nice busy spot with very friendly service. Food was quite good and excellent value with a Menupages voucher!

Flanagan’s Restaurant
61 Upper O'Connell Street, City Centre North, Dublin

Lovely friendly staff, complemented by great food!! Fillet steak was fantastic & cooked to perfection!! First visit but certainly not the last!!

profile_review

Il Vignardo
Beresford Hotel, 21 Store Street, City Centre North, IFSC, Dublin

Nice friendly service, steak was on the small side but very tasty, along with sides and the starters were very good too. Only real issue was my Guinness appeared to be poured straight and wasn't topped off properly. Apart from that a very good experience in a really nice setting. We shall return!

Golden Elephant Restaurant
Sutton Cross Shopping Centre, North Dublin, Sutton, Dublin

Nice atmosphere, very friendly efficient staff that were good for a laugh. Food was great and plentiful! Shall frequent again. Recommended.

Chilli Banana
112 Upper Drumcondra Road, North Dublin, Drumcondra, Dublin

Frequented this place recently. Restaurant cramped. Service was ok. Food was average but the portions were shocking. The starters are on small plates with small forks, my hands are big and I felt like a giant. The main and side consisted of 2 small bowls. Dessert was tiny too, fine plate but a little piece of pie in the middle. A complete rip off, would never ever return. I dine out on average 3 to 4 times a week and this was comfortably the worst dining experience I have had this year.

New Emperor Chinese
18 May Park, Malahide Road, North Dublin, Donnycarney, Dublin

This is a very nice spot. Nice modern setting. The place was empty so atmosphere was lacking. Food was delicious and portions were just right. Service was efficient and friendly. Would definitely recommend and I will frequent again for sure.

Addison Lodge
Opposite Botanic Gardens, Botanic Road, Glasnevin, Dublin

Had a meeting here a little over a year ago after not going near the place in years. A few days later I gave it proper try and have been going regularly since. A great spot for traditional food. Carvery & evening menu are super and portions are great, real hearty food. The staff are fantastic and the lads that run the place are spot on nice guys who deserve the business they get. They have regular music sessions at the weekends and a great function room for all occasions. Located just opposite the Botanic Gardens and well worth a try!!!

profile_review

The Mint Leaf Swords
18 Main St, Swords, Swords, Dublin

A little lacking in atmosphere. Service was friendly. Steak on the Stone was quite good although pepper sauce was too hot for our licking. The sides were disappointingly small and the house wine wasn't the best. Overall a good experience and I would consider again in the hope they took on board the above comments.

Paul's Bistro & Wine Bar
49 Lwr Dorset St, City Centre North, Dublin

What a great find Pauls Bistro is!! Tried this recently & really couldn't fault it. Soup, chicken caesar salad & the steak baguette were all fantastic!! They do 2 courses & a glass of vino for €16 & it's great value!! The place is spotless & the food extremely tasty. I have already recommended Pauls Bistro to several friends & look forward to my next visit!!

profile_review

Hedigans The Brian Boru
5 Prospect Road, Glasnevin, Dublin

The Brain Boru is a nice spot, it would be a more traditional pub. The carvery is just ok & the portions are quite small. The a la carte menu is limited but the food overall is tasty enough, although I was shocked & disappointed to be served a steak recently on a COLD plate!! A lot of places are putting steaks on hot stones now!! It's a nice spot for a pint with a lovely beer garden & great a place to watch the rugby. Overall ok pub grub but needs improving & heat those plates!!

Mi Thai
87B Manor Street, Dublin 1 , Stoneybatter, Dublin

This place is tiny, about 30 seats but a nice atmosphere. The place was full on the night we were there & it was slightly claustrophobic. The toilets are like something on a plane! We used a menupages voucher which included starters, mains a bottle of vino. The waitress was clueless about this voucher, she said we could order any wine we wanted & then after pouring it said there was an extra charge & the voucher was only for a bottle of house wine. She must have been new as all round she was very poor & the manager did little to help. The food itself was quite nice if a little hot for my tastes. Not a bad evening but I shall not go out of my way to return.

Kitty Hawks Bar & Bistro
Carlton Airport Hotel, Old Airport Road, Cloughran, Cloghran, Dublin

This is the bar/restaurant in the Carlton Hotel. It is quite nice & comfortable & the staff are very polite & professional. They do a carvery for lunch which is tasty enough. The evening menu is slightly limited and the food is a bit in & out, portions could be better & the string fries aren't great. However I recently had the steak here and it was excellent. The place is pricey enough but you are dealing with a hotel.

profile_review

The Mountkennedy Inn
Main St, Newtownmountkennedy, Wicklow

I was in the area for a break & had pints here on the Friday & it was dead but came back on the Saturday when it was much busier for a meal. They do 2 courses for €15 or a special of the day 3 course deal for the same price. We availed of the 2 course menu & we were glad we didn't have dessert because the portions were excellent. The staff are nice & friendly & the food was extremely tasty & excellent value. If I am in the area again I will go out of my way to dine here again, recommended!

profile_review

Synnott's Bistro @ The Parkview Hotel
Main Street, Newtown Mount Kennedy, Newtownmountkennedy, Wicklow

This restaurant is based in the Parkview Hotel just off the bar. Its a nice relaxing spot & the staff are very friendly & efficient. Our starters Chicken Caesar Salad & veg soup were both tasty & followed by the rib eye steak which was done to perfection & accompanied by pepper sauce, greens & proper homemade chips on a bed of onions & mushrooms. Dessert of hot apple pie & cream finished the meal off nicely & we washed it down with a bottle of red from there reasonably priced wine list. Worth a go if in the area!

profile_review

Noble House
17 Dame Street, City Centre South, Dublin

I had not dined in this place for a year or & it hasn't changed in the slightest. Everything including decor & staff is the same, but thats a good good thing because its a well run, well maintained restaurant with friendly staff & tasty food. We all went for the early bird which was around €17 and good value. My curry was slight hot but thats me, the beef was excellent and would melt in your mouth. Shall make it my business to frequent this place more often, recommended!

profile_review

Gibneys
New Street, Malahide, Dublin

Gibo's is a standing dish in Malahide but its more a place for a few jars rather than food! Although I did sample a burger over the xmas & it was fine if unspectacular but it did the job for a bit of soakage and was quite reasonable. They do a fair bar menu but I'd only eat here while having pints & hungry.

profile_review

The Star Bar & Restaurant
Main Street, Swords, Dublin

I gave this place a try recently on a couple of recommendations. Its an old style pub but is nice & clean apart from the toilets which could do with a lick of paint & a few tiles! We were served by a very pleasant girl. We had veg soup to start which came with a couple of slices of brown bread & it was superb & a decent bowl too. For the main we ordered chicken in mushroom sauce with rice & chips & it was extremely tasty & again a great portion. On paying the nice waitress informed me they do a carvery daily with fine big portions which they seem to pride themselves on. I shall definitely be giving this spot a try again.

profile_review

The Tolka House
Glasnevin, Glasnevin, Dublin

Usually visit here when the carvery is on but they also do an evening menu as well. It gets quite busy for lunches. There is a very good selection for the carvery and the portions are usually quite good. Food wise I would consider it good hearty food, the gravy is good & they love there mushy peas! Not a bad spot for a bite.

profile_review

Washerwomans Hill
60 Glasnevin Hill, Glasnevin, Glasnevin, Dublin

I have passed this place tons of times & I was of the opinion that it was quite large inside but alas there is only 30 odd seats. We were greeted by an extremely pleasant waitress who was game for a laugh. We arrived early on a Tuesday so it was quiet enough when we got there but within an hour the place was full. There was a very good atmosphere & the waitress played a blinder, she was busy but never appeared under pressure and remained attentive and extremely pleasant & friendly. Food wise I had the soup to start which was tasty if slightly watery followed by a steak done to perfection. It was slightly fatty though. It came with mixed veg & I ordered a portion of chips too as I missed lunch! As it turned out I am glad I got the chips as the veg portion was quite small. The GF had wings to start which were a very good size followed by a burger which again was quite decent. Overall the food was very good but they should increase there veg portions, atmosphere very good & service top class - we shall return!

profile_review

Bia Bar
The Drury Court Hotel, Stephen Street Lower, City Centre South, Dublin

We were seated in a dark corner so if you do chance this place I would recommend a window seat. As for the seats we were seat at on a coach which looked comfortable but had no dept to it & was a little hard on the rear. As for the food, to start we both had the bruschetta. It was tiny and came with a few leaves, a complete rip off. Luckily the 2 pieces were so small you could nearly swallow them in 1 bite before they went cold on the stone cold plate. They didn't taste great either. For the main I had the burger, its a bad sign when you can bite into a burger & not hit any meat! It was all bun & no burger. It came with a few spare chips which had been dosed in salt already & a few leaves of salad, it didn't taste great. At €14 a complete rip off. The GF had the steak which was tiny, it tasted ok & came with the same as the burger & some pepper sauce in a bowl on the plate to fill some space! We considered going for something decent to eat as soon as we left! What a rip off the Bia Bar really is & I will say with utmost confidence that I shall never darken there door again.

profile_review

Messrs Maguire
O'Connell Bridge, Burgh Quay, City Centre South, Dublin

Dined here recently using a city deal voucher. For starters we had chowder & wings (which were lukewarm), both tasted ok. For mains we both had the steak sandwich which was again was just ok nothing to rave about. The portions were reasonably ok but the food was just average and if I was paying full whack I'd be very disappointed as it is overpriced. However I must commend the staff for all being so friendly. I would give it a go again sometime in the future but I'd like to think they would improve there standards and amend there prices.

profile_review

Little Venice
Old Airport Road, North Dublin, Santry, Dublin

Dined here for the first time in about 10 years recently. Nearly every time I go by the car park is empty so I promised myself I'd give them a bit of business as its local. The very day I tried it the place was very busy & full at one stage, couldn't believe it!! On first impressions the place was still very much the same as when I tried it years before. The place itself is very open and has a kind of echo in it, hence when it was full it was very noisy & you couldn't hear yourself talk. They should have given aspirins instead of mints with your bill!!! The tables & glasses were grubby & dirty. The food was average & probably the best thing we had was the pizza, but that was served on a cold plate. It'll be another 10 years before I try this place again!!

profile_review

ZAO Thai Restaurant
96B Omni Park Shopping Centre, Swords road , North Dublin, Santry, Dublin

I have dined here on several occasions as it is local to me. The food is of a very good standard and can be enjoyed in a nice atmosphere with friendly staff. It is however a bit pricey for what you get. My main reason for not going back more often is the portions of there "sides". Theres not many chips in a portion and there portion of rice is a disgrace! Hello Zao rice is the cheapest food in the World!! I'll try it again but until they improve there side portions and bring down there prices slightly I will not be a regular visitor.

profile_review

Oscar Taylor Restaurant
Island View Hotel, Coast Road, North Co. Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

Took a chance on this place when driving by. The place was just ticking over for an early evening Tuesday. I had the soup to start which was tasty but only came with a tiny roll. I got the peppered burgers for my main. They came between buns with sauce, didn't see the point of the buns as there was no was you could pick it up as the sauce on the bun would cause it to all fall apart! I found them bland and tasteless especially when I ran out of sauce as the buns absorbed all the sauce! It was reasonably priced but was not overly impressed with the food.

profile_review

Farm Restaurant (Dawson Street)
3 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin

Dined here recently because I purchased a voucher for a 4 course meal. The atmosphere is a bit noisy and busy. The service was quite good and the staff were all pleasant. The food itself was ok but a bit bland. Having looked at the menu online I would consider the food to be overpriced and would only return if I got a similar deal. Just ok overall.

profile_review

The Goblet
Malahide Road, Artane, Dublin

I used to lunch in the Goblet quite a lot but have virtually stopped recently due to the portions. They took on a new chief a few months back & the portions he dishes out are a disgrace, he has no problem leaving gaps on your plate and ignores you when you ask for plenty of something. The chips have also changed to those straw fries form real chips!! It used to be a great spot and I just hope they wake up and start giving there customers better value! The quality of the food is very good and the bar staff are great but sort the portions & I'll be back!!

profile_review

Beaumont House
1 Shantalla Road Beaumont, Beaumont, Dublin

I dined here twice recently after giving this place a wide birth for a long time. The pub itself is nice and spacious and I must say one of the most well kept pubs I have frequented over the years. The food itself is reasonably ok but expensive for what you get. The staff which are rude and ignorant love to try the extra portion trick, I remember asking for some coleslaw with my lasagne and the chief went off and came back with some on a saucer and on paying at the till I was charged €4.95 for it, I nearly chocked!! It left me with a sour taste after my lunch that day! Get the staff some manners, bring down the price of food & drink and possibly do an Early Bird menu and this could be a good spot to go but nothing has changed for years! This pub is in Beaumont but they charge Foxrock prices!!

profile_review

Sheng Jing
110 Drumcondra Road Upper, North Dublin, Drumcondra, Dublin

I dine here regularly. Its a small place & can get quite busy, the last time I was there on a Thursday they were turning people away because the place was full. The staff are so so friendly and very attentive. The EB menu is great value at €15.50 for starters, main with rice or chips, dessert & tea or coffee. The food and the portions are good, especially the rice as I find some places skimp on rice when its the cheapest food in the world!! Try a beef dish, so tender!! I would highly recommend this restaurant!!

profile_review

Cafe Topolis
37 Parliament Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Found this little gem about a year ago when looking for another restaurant in the area that had closed. I have been back 4 times since. Its a very reasonably priced quality Italian that does a very good value lunch & early bird menu. The staff are friendly & courteous and the excellent food can be enjoyed in a nice atmosphere! I would have no hesitation highly recommend this restaurant as the food is simply top class!!! Keep up the excellent work Cafe Topolis!

profile_review

Woodstock Cafe
156 Phibsboro Road, Phibsboro, Dublin

I have frequented here regularly over the years. Its a busy cafe with a high turnover of customers. Its a carvery style set up for breakfast through to dinner. There is great choice for breakfast & lunch/dinner with normally 2 types of potatoes & veg on the go. They have a sandwich bar, a great choice of desserts and bake there own brown bread! The food is of a very good standard and its reasonably good value for what you get. The staff are usually busy but friendly.

profile_review

The Waterside Inn
Opposite Howth Yacht Club, Harbour Road, North Co. Dublin, Howth, Dublin

This is the first time I visited this pub. It was quite busy with plenty of tourists and a few locals holding up the bar. The service was a tad slow but very friendly and we had a good joke with the waiter that we would have to come back to try everything we asked for that they were out of!! Obviously need to keep a better inventory on there food! The food itself was tasty enough and what I would deem middle of the road pub grub! I would try it again if in the area.

profile_review

The Cat & Cage - Closed
74 Drumcondra Road Upper, Drumcondra, Dublin

Good shop for a pint with a nice atmosphere and plenty of TV's for sport. They do a few drinks specials too. Food wise the menu is basic and overpriced especially considering the amount of choice within the locality. The food is not great either, the last time I dined here I had the soup to start which was nice and then chicken tenders which were dry & tasteless, although having tried the food on a couple of occasions I didn't expect much. I'd eat here only when stuck & hungry! They need to make a greater effort to improve the quality and value of the food.

profile_review

Fagans
Drumcondra, Drumcondra, Dublin

Been dining in Fagans for years. The Carvery is of a very good standard and the food is usually excellent and very tasty. The portions are sometimes not great and I actually witnessed a pensioner verbally abusing a chief because the portion was so miserable. Having said that the last 2 times I have visited the portion have been fine. I had noticed the evening crowd had dipping dramatically but they started an early bird menu which seemed to turn things around. However the last time I availed of the EB the starter menu had become even more restricted and the times too. They do a basket of nuggets & chips or sausages & chips for a fiver which is great if your watching some sport. The pint of the black stuff in the bar is very good and the staff overall are very nice apart from one barman in the bar.

profile_review

Autobahn
73-77 Glasnevin Avenue, Dublin 11, Glasnevin, Dublin

Usually dine here for the Early Bird menu, 2 courses for €11.60 or 3 courses for €14.60. The EB menu is limited to certain items as opposed to the A La Carte menu which has a far greater choice. The food is of a very good standard and the portions are quite good. They also do a carvery at lunchtime which is quite good but the portions can be hot or miss! The one thing I have to commend the Autobahn on is its one of the only places I regularly dine in that has adjusted there prices to reflect the recent VAT reduction. Why/How is most other eateries getting away without adjusting there prices!?!

profile_review

Coachmans Inn
Airport Road, Cloghran, Dublin

I'd go here for a carvery every couple off weeks when I feel nice & hungry! They do a carvery all day till 8 o'clock and Sunday would be a very busy day here. The food sometimes wouldn't be the best quality but they have no problem giving you a big portion. The place itself has become a bit run down & could do with a lick of paint etc. Basically good hearty food!

profile_review

Pacinos
18 Suffolk Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

As I seen on a previous review we got the rocky table at the back too!! We got the chickens wings for 2 to start & they were very good, excellent flavour! The GF had the lasagne which was adequate but small & she likes a big portion! I got the burger which was dry & tasteless. As it was Sunday afternoon there was a band on downstairs & the place really got busy as we were leaving. We were on one of these deals so it was relatively ok value but If I had to pay full price I wouldn't be rushing back, but I might just pop in for the wings!

profile_review

Kens Oriental Restaurant
1st Floor, Dunkellin Street, Loughrea, Loughrea, Galway

Popped in here on the way back from Galway races. It was a Saturday evening & there weren't many options in the town & we were lucky to find this place. We had the 3 course early bird menu for €14.50pp and it was good value. The food was tasty although the main coursescould have been slightly bigger. There was a very good choice on the menu & it was reasonably price and they do all sorts of specials on different nights. The place could do with a a bit more light in it & a bit more advertising outside as its on the first floor we it was only when we went by the second time we notice it! There seemed to be a steady number of locals dinning here. If I was in Loughrea again I would go back!
