The Winding Stair Restaurant
40 Lower Ormond Quay, Dublin 1 , City Centre North, Dublin, Area Code: Dublin 1
Reviewed 19th July 2007 ( visited 19th July 2007 )Excellent restaurant. Arguably my favourite in Dublin. I've eaten there twice for lunch and once for dinner. It has always been full and although the seating is a little tight it adds to a cosy atmosphere. The potted crab and duck egg are excellent starters as is the steak for the main course. The fries are particularly tasty. The service is very good and as restaurants in Dublin go it's exceptional value.
Eddie Rockets (Phibsboro) restaurant
Phibsboro Shopping Centre, North Dublin, Phibsboro, Dublin, Area Code: Dublin 11
Reviewed 30th July 2007 ( visited 30th July 2007 )Tasty... Ok, technically it's fast food but it's good fast food with quality and pricing comparable to pub grub so in my view competition in the area. I went for the chicken goujons with bacon and cheese fries and vanilla malt. At over 15 quid it's not cheap but it's similar to what you would pay in a pub and the food was really tasty. The place was empty when we went in so you'd expect the service to be decent. The waiter did have some difficulty operating an electronic ordering system but after that it was spot on. The jukebox at our table didn't work but other than that no complaints.
FIRE Restaurant and Lounge
Mansion House, Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin
We tried the Early Bird menu last Sat. Fish cakes for starters and Steaks for the main followed by a berry tart and cheesecake for desert. At just under 30 per head this represented decent value though the main dinner menu is overpriced. Serive was good, although it felt very rushed until it came to paying when no one was insight. One of the better Early Bird menus around
Harts Corner, North Dublin, Glasnevin, Dublin
Valentines was our 2nd time visting this nice cosy Italian and once again we were not disappointed. Excellent Carbonara and my fiance was equally complimentary on the bolognese. We were also treated to 2 complimentary galsses of sparkling wine which was a nice touch. The pastas are certainly the highlight. Starters ok. Limited choice of deserts but the Panna cotta was very tasty as is their selection of tarts. Good to have a nice Italian close by.

Visited for breakfeast last Sat morning. Living locally I'd always intended to pop in. Good fry up and decent value with tea and toast included. I'll be back to try more of the menu
Elephant & Castle
18/19 Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
I've eaten here a few times, mainly for lunch. The food is always tasty, particularly the wings but the service is usually very slow so if you're out for a quick lunch it's not ideal.
Milano (Clarion Quay)
Unit 6, Excise Walk, Clarion Quay, Dublin 1, City Centre, IFSC, Dublin
I've tried this place a few times over the last year or so, mainly for lunch but I'd noticed that the quality had been gradually sliding. My last experience was a quiet Wed evening. There were few people dining and the place lacked atmosphere. The service was exceptionally poor, waiting almost an hour for a pizza and the waitress had to be reminded twice for a wine order. When the food did come it was ok at best. I've had much better take-aways. I will never be darkening the doors of a Milano's again.
8 Talbot Street, City Centre North, Dublin
Had lunch here recently. Garlic bread and and Arrabbiata pasta dish. There was four of us and we asked for the starters (garlic bread) to come with the main dish to save some time. They didn't seem to get this and one of us was left with just the starter while the rest were almost finished. In saying that the food was good, tasty and reasonable value but the service was terrible. It took ages to place an order, longer for the food to arrive and it seemed like forever to get the attention of someone to ask for the bill. Ok if you're on a 2 hour lunch!
The Italian Connection
95 Talbot Street, City Centre North, Dublin
Had lunch here a couple of week ago. Place was packed with a good atmosphere. However I thought the food was just ok. I want for the Carbonara. The sauce was very think and almost cheezy as opposed to creamy and the egg look lik it had scrambled. Wasn't the best dish I've had but the potion size was good. Given the good reviews here and the number of people in there at the time I'd probably give it another try
Il Corvo Restaurant
98-100 Upper Drumcondra Road, Dublin 9 , Drumcondra, Dublin
I've eaten here at Il Corvo twice in the last few months. It was a packed Sat night on both occasions and each time I've found the food and service to be quite good. The portion sizes were plentyful and the food tasty. I'd definitly recommned the Polpette starter and the Saltimboca Di Vitello main course. It's also worth keeping an eye out for the specials on the wall. It may not always be a cheaper options but provides additional choice. The selection of dessets could be better but other than that no complaints.

Nice place. Friendly and prompt staff. Very good food at a reasonable price. A little on quiet side but well worth a visit.
73 Manor Street, Stoneybatter, Dublin
Small venue, small menu, tasty food. I dinned here last weekend and needed to book two weeks in advance to get a table so that’s usually a good indicator of a fine restaurant. On the night in question the waitress informed us that that main chef was not on and apologised in advance for any issues with the food. The menu was a little limited – a single page with about 5-6 starters and mains. For starters we had the cheese and bacon tart and the calamari rings. Both were tasty although I felt the portions were a little on the small side. For the mains I had the Rib Eye steak and my companion had the Fillet steak. Both were very nice and the portions were quite substantial. Desserts were chocolate brownie and Creme Brulee. They were out of vanilla ice cream for the brownie so chocolate had to suffice. Both were reasonable though not spectacular. Overall the service was quite good. The tables are a little close together and it got quite warm when full. Certainly worth another visit.
112 Upper Drumcondra Road, North Dublin, Drumcondra, Dublin
Very tasty meal and decent value. Service was excellent, quick and helpful, although it did take a while to get the bill but we weren't in a rush so it wasn’t big deal. I had the fish cakes for starters while my companion had the chicken skewers. Both were big portions and very tasty. For the main we had the Yellow curry and the crispy duck and noodles. The curry was excellent and the duck was a massive portion, although the noodles were a little difficult to eat. For dessert we had Tiramisu and cheese cake. This was my only complaint about the meal. While the generous portion looked lovely it seemed like it was straight out of the freezer. It was pretty hard and you could still see some ice on the top. Tea, coffee and a glass of wine came to 77 quid for the pair of us so decent value too. We had a seat by the wall so it didn't feel as cramped as other reviews have suggested. One of the seats though was beside an air vent so was a little draughty. All in all a pleasant experience and I'll certainly be back.
The Porterhouse (North )
Cross Guns Bridge, Glasnevin, Dublin
Good Burgers and Pizza.....I've eaten here a few times and I've found the burgers and pizzas to be the best options. Portions are large and filling and not overly priced. The chicken wings are excellent too and ideal for 2 people sharing. I haven't tried the starters but I was a little disappointed with the desserts. The pancakes and waffles were basically from the supermarket with some ice cream on top. Decent pub grub though.

TGI Friday (Blanchardstown)
Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, Dublin 15, Blanchardstown, Dublin
Food was quite tasty. I had the Jack Daniels chicken but the service was very slow. It seemed like ages between the main course and dessert and a drinks order went missing in between. It was however a pretty busy Thursday night. Still it was my 1st visit here and I'd be willing to give it another go.
Independent Pizza Co
28 Drumcondra Rd Lower, Dublin 9, Drumcondra, Dublin
Super pizza & very reasonable. Pizza is the speciality here so if you go you really should try one rather than one of the other options. Starters and dessert were also excellent. A good value, filling and tasty meal.
3A Talbot Place, Dublin 1 , City Centre North, Dublin
Tasty food in double quick time! As I work nearby I've ventured in here twice for lunch. Admittedly I've gone for the same main course, Mussamun, on both occasions. The food is very tasty and fairly priced. The main point of note is the speed of service which is staggering. On both occasions the restaurant was full which speaks for itself.

Smiths of Phibsboro

Apart from being a very nice pub, I've also had the pleasure of eating here 3 times in the past few months. For pub grub the menu has an excellent range. The portions are generous and the quality is very good. The place is clean with plenty of seating and there's also a nice beer garden at the back.
