I eventually got around to bringing my two children to this lovely restaurant (12&15). I have been here on numerous occasions, and again i was not dissappointed. The kids didn't look too happy when they first looked at the menu. I had warned them that it was a very short menu. But after a few minutes of deliberating. Between the four of us we order a good mixture from the menu. We had prawns and the pate to start which was really lovely, when the waitress noticed we were sharing the pate she offered to bring us more bread an offer we declined. I had the sea bass main it came with crushed baby potatoes all cooked beautifully. My daughter had chicken which she really enjoyed. My son had the steak and my husband had the pasta dish. We finished the meal with 2 chocolate brownies and an apple tart and coffees. the bill came to 109 which included a bottle of red wine and coffees. All plates were returned to kitchen almost licked clean. Will we return most definitely.

I was in Il Divo on Friday night with a large group from work. Unfortunately it wasn't what i expected. The restauraunt itself looks very nice. But when i looked at the menu I was hard pressed to find something that i really fancied. As there was a large group we were eating off a set menu which had been paid in advance. I went for mussels to start and cod as my main. There were very few mussels and at least two hadn't opened which meant i got even less. Then after a very long wait my cod arrived. Another extermly small portion with about 6 pieces of stringy asparagus and a teaspoon of mushy watery potatoes, that was it not even a side of vegatables. The lady beside me couldn't even eat her fish as it was full of bones. All i can say is i was glad i was drinking wine(albeit not very nice)as i would have been highly annoyed paying 27 euro for what was a very small meal.Maybe i would have had more luck with the al a carte menu. would i return I very much doubt it.

Bellagio
92 Terenure Road North, Dublin 6W, Terenure, Dublin

Had lunch here with four friends. Having had a bad experience here previously, we were reluctant to return. But as we received vouchers the last time after complaining we decided to try again.BIG MISTAKE!!! Over cooked rubbery cod, dry over cooked chicken in brown 'white wine sauce' served with a salad (taken from a bag of mixed salad leaves) no dressing or anything else that would constitute a salad. Needless to say desserts were also a big disappointment. It really is an awful shame they can't serve better quality food, and recruit some friendlier waiting staff because it is a lovely premises but that is the only positive thing i could say about this place. It's just as well there's plenty of nice places to eat in Terenure!

Pips Place
1 Upper Rathmines Road, Rathmines, Dublin

Dined here last night with a friend. I had a boards deal which i feel is a great way for new restaurants to entice diners in as i feel people are reluctant to try new places. The decor is very nice. The staff were friendly and effiecient. The menu is quite short but personally I'm suspicious of long winded menu's that go on for pages and pages, I feel if the menu is short you know the food is cooked to order and not preprepared. The starters and mains were lovely. I had the steak pie which was tasty but a bit too saucy for me it was a bit more like stew with a pastry top. The meat was very tender. Unfortunately the baked cheese cake was far too dense, it was heavy and the base far too buttery and hard not a bit crumbly as you would expect. But overall the meal was nice and very good value. The general sense i got from the other diners that were was one of satisfaction. I would certainly return

Zest Cafe
Unit 6/7, Clane Shopping Centre, Clane, Kildare

myself and my husband were lucky to stumble across this lovely bistro. We were in Clane over the weekend having secured a great value boards deal for the lovely Westgrove hotel. After arriving too early for checkin we took a walk through the village. I saw the sign for Zest. We like eating in small bistro type restaurants as opposed to franchises. We were not dissapointed. My husband had the soup which was thick and creamy, I had a club sandwhich with chicken and bacon. The decor is light and airy and the staff friendly and efficient. We enjoyed our lunch so much we went back the next day for our dinner before heading home. Again we were not dissappointed with our choices. Good portions of well prepared tasty food. If I'm ever in Clane again I would be happy to return to this lovely bistro

Assaggio Restaurant @ The Westgrove Hotel
Westgrove Hotel, Abbeylands, Clane, Naas , Clane, Kildare

Having secured a great boards deal for the Wesrgrove Hotel we ate in the bar on Saturday evening. Despite the bar being very busy due to the match the service was excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient. Having had a big lunch earlier in the day we weren't feeling that hungry so decided to forego starters. I went for the chicken fajitas and my husband had the chicken curry. The portions were quite substanial. They were very busy and all the food that came from the kitchen looked lovely. We enjoyed a really nice breakfast the next morning. All in all this is a lovely hotel with great service and lovely food.

Saba
26-28 Clarendon Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Was around Stephens Green with my husband and 2 children and we decided to go somewhere for lunch. We passed Saba and seen the board advertising 15.95 for 2 courses or 19.95 for 3 courses. Seemed good value so went in. The waitress directed us to a table in the corner which was very dark I asked if we could sit by the window as it was a lovely sunny afternoon. Which wasn't a problem. Unfortunately the mains myself and husband fancied had a supplement attached which I find annoying. Having said that the food was very nice. Mains portions were not very big but the rice was really lovely. I'd imagine it would be a great place for a girls night out as it has a vast cocktail menu. Maybe next time I'll return without the hubby and kids!

Cactus Jacks (Middle Abbey St)
Millennium Walkway, Middle Abbey Street, City Centre North, Italian Quarter, Dublin

Was shopping in town on Saturday with a friend of mine. Before we knew where we were it was after 5 and we were feeling hungry! As is the case in town it is very hard to decide where to eat with so many places to choose from. She had no preference as to where she wanted to go, so I suggested Cactus Jacks as I know she likes fajitas. We were offered a choice of where we would like to sit. We opted for the early bird menu which was great value 3 courses and a glass of wine at 19.95. The food was tasty and there was plenty of it. Although some of the beef in my fajitas was a bit grisly it was nicely flavoured. The restaurant filled up very quickly and there was a lively feel. The staff were very friendly and effcient despite the fact it was so busy early on a Saturday evening. There was no rush on us to leave which was great as the weather made a turn for the worst. So we sat watching the hailstones whilst soaking up the atmosphere!
