Inchydoney Island Lodge and Spa restaurant
Main Street, Clonakilty, Cork
Reviewed 06th August 2009 ( visited 03rd August 2009 )I have eaten here before and always find the same thing, good food, rubbish service! It's a shame but the staff never seem trained, you have to ask 4 times for something and they keep forgetting you, we ended up going in to order but they wont let you... frustrating but when the food comes it is good. Seafood platter is excellent and there is something for everyone on the menu. Go here if you have patience!
Soho Bar and Restaurant
77 Grand Parade, Cork City, Cork
Reviewed 22nd July 2009 ( visited 25th June 2009 )I was SO disappointed by this restaurant, the food is very very average, nothing that I would go back for. The service was honestly appalling, we had to almost hassle them into taking our orders, it took forever to catch their attention and they never came back to ask if we needed anything else or if everything was ok. Very unimpressed.
5/6 Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork City, Cork
I LOVE this place, best french onion soup ever. I wanted to point out, as it does not seem to be on the website, that Marketlane is doing an early bird 3 course meal for €20 with a great main course choice and the chocolate pot dessert is delicious!
Innishannon House Hotel
Main Street, Inishannon, Cork
Went for Sunday lunch here and I didnt expect the lovely gardens surrounding the house. It is very much a manor house inside and out, beautiful decor. The service was fantastic, very homely and welcoming and the food was lovely too. It is a little pricey but worth it as a treat. It would be lovely for a family gathering.
Main Street, Charleville, Charleville, Cork
A friend from Charleville recommended this chinese so we ate in. The restaurant is typically decorated for a chinese but it is warm and comfortable. The service was excellent very friendly and the food was delicious. We got a selection of dishes and shared and they were all tasty. Good for a group meal.
Spice of India (Bishopstown)
Looneys Cross, Bishopstown Road, Cork, Bishopstown, Cork
I have been to Spice of India numerous times but only once for a sit in meal as I find the restaurant very narrow, cold and usually really empty so the atmosphere is terrible. As a take away the food is very good, my favourite is the butter chicken tikka really creamy and delicious. My problem with Spice of India is that it has happened on a few occasions where they have totally got our order wrong and we have had to wait in one case over 1 hour for our take away! I also think that it is a little overpriced for what you get there is never much meat in main courses, mostly sauce. The food is very good but it is a shame about some other features.
Bishopstown, Bishopstown, Cork
Great carvery, tasty food, good generous portions, good value for money. I liked the atmosphere too, it was quite busy but there are plenty of booths and tables. I have also had one evening meal here and it was great too, home made chips and lovely beef I will definately be back. A great place for a casual weekend meal.
7 Winthrop Street Cork, Cork City, Cork
Good value, great pizza. We get take away a good bit from Gino's on our way home from town as the place is not that nice to sit in I think. The pizza is very tasty and the icecream is gorgeous!! Very casual, cheap and cheerful!
Main Street, East Village, Douglas, Cork
We went for a girly meal here in Douglas for a change so as not to go to town. I am a huge fan of Amicus in town and was really disappointed by the Douglas one. It majorly lacks atmosphere, the decor is cold and uncomfortable and the service left a lot to be desired. We had a nice meal anyway, the food is up to the same Amicus standard but I would not go here again I would go into town instead!
Bombay Palace Indian Restaurant
14/15 Cook Street, Cork City, Cork
Feeling lazy of a wednesday we got a takeaway and had heard great things about Bombay Palace. Those great things were well founded, the food was gorgeous and we will definately be going back there. It also looked lovely in the restaurant too and I would say it is a nice place to eat in.
ECO Douglas Restaurant
1/2 Eastville, Douglas Village, Douglas, Cork
I absolutely love Eco's! Food is excellent, decent portions and delicious. The restaurant is definately cramped with not much space between each table but it actually somehow works and makes the place cosy and for evening meals it is very dimly lit with lovely candles. The sides of all different potatoes are gorgeous and I try a different one each time I go. Can't wait to go again!
Luigi Malones (Cork)
1-2 Emmet Place, Cork City, Cork
I booked this meal and used my Menupages €25 voucher which meant we only spent €20 including a tip!! We got the early bird menu and had really good nachos for starter, the tempura chicken was only ok. For main we had noodles which were really tasty and a flame grilled burger which was nice too. Portions are very generous (almost too big really) and there were loads of staff on so we were never lacking anything. We will definately go back, good for a casual meal or a group meal.
Glengarriff Village, Bantry, Cork
Although a little outdated and old fashioned decor the service was great and the food was not bad either. We had fish and steak, both tasty and generous portions. There is not a lot of choice in Glengariff for restaurants but there are much more in Bantry about a 12 minute drive away.
Wolfe Tone Square, Bantry, Cork
This is a typical chipper. It has average chips and burgers and the usual battered bits and pieces that you would expect. Nothing strange about this chipper, tasty curry and it is fine if you just want a quick take away, this is NOT haute cuisine!
1/2 Oliver Plunkett Street, Bandon, Cork
On the way back from Dunmanway we stopped in to eat here. Service was ok, could have been better but the food was good quality and we could see the reason why it was quite busy. I would not rush back but it was not bad either.
Bulman Bar & Restaurant
Summercove Kinsale, Kinsale, Cork
I love the Bulman!! Great for a sunny day sitting out on the wall with a drink after some delicious food or on a rainy day/night with the fire blazing inside and friendly service. I would recommend any seafood in the Bulman, it is so fresh and tasty. We try to go as often as we can.
Blue Ginger Restaurant
7/8 High st Centre Wilton Cork Co. Cork, Wilton, Cork
We got takeaway there and have tried it before and I keep hoping that it will be better, but its not! Average and bland every time unfortunately. We got a lot of different dishes and they tasted almost the same, its not overpriced but I would not go back.
Inchydoney Island Lodge and Spa
Main Street, Clonakilty, Cork
I have eaten here before and always find the same thing, good food, rubbish service! It's a shame but the staff never seem trained, you have to ask 4 times for something and they keep forgetting you, we ended up going in to order but they wont let you... frustrating but when the food comes it is good. 1-3 Connolly Street, Clonakilty, Cork
A little expensive but well worth it for a treat, tasty good food, great friendly service and we were seated very quickly even though it was busy. I would definately go back, gorgeous pasta and homemade pizza.
Oscars Bar @ The Quality Hotel Clonakilty
Clonakilty, Co. Cork, Clonakilty, Cork
We stayed in the hotel for the weekend and so ate there when we arrived, the food was ok nice enough but nothing I would rush back for (the next night we went somewhere else so it wasn't that good!). The service was good, very friendly staff.
Ballinhass, Ballinhassig, Cork
We went there after a christening and had a group meal. The service was mostly good and the food was excellent. We first had a drink in the small cosy pub and then went on to a function room to eat. I would definately have a function there again, it is only 15 minutes from Cork city.
Captain America's Cookhouse and Bar (Cork)
4/5 South Main Street, Cork, Cork City, Cork
Ok for a large party maybe as you can get jugs of cocktails which are nice and portions are generous so it's not bad value for money. One problem, the food is extremely average, it could be any burger place plus it is very loud, tv screens everywhere you look not exactly a romantic setting for a meal if that's what you're looking for!
Merchants Quay Shopping Centre, Cork City, Cork
Not great, very much canteen style food which is never going to be brilliant. Anything I have tried has been pretty bland. The best you'll get in here is average so I won't bother going back.
4/5 South Main St, Co City, Cork City, Cork
I have been here a few times for lunch and dinner and it is very hit and miss. Some dishes I love and others have been incredibly disappointing. We get take away sometimes too and portions are generous, prices are the same as if you eat in which doesnt make sense really plus they do not deliver. Service has always been good but it can really lack atmosphere if not busy plus the wooden benches do not promote you sitting around chatting! It is more of a dine and dash place.
21 Princes Street, Cork City, Cork
I love Wildways, I go here as much as I can afford for my lunch as I work in town. The paninis and foccacia's are delicious with tasty unusual fillings and the baked potatoes with chilli mayo are to die for! I have not tried much else on the menu because there is always a range of around 5 different types of paninis/foccacias/wraps.
The Ambassador Restaurant
3 Cook Street, Cork City, Cork
I love this place!! It's a great Chinese if you want a treat. It is definately not cheap but every once in a while it is worth forking out for. Fantastic service and tasty food. This is one of the best Chineses in Cork.
2-5 Winthrop Lane, Winthrop Street, Cork, Cork City, Cork
Scoozi's is great for a crowd before a night on the town and great for families too. You can be a little loud and there is no problem. No airs and graces is what I like about Scoozi's, it's comfortable and the food's not bad either! It's not innovative but it is a crowd pleaser, good service and affordable.
Bullys Restaurant (Douglas)
7 Douglas Village, Douglas, Cork
I had visited Bully's when it was in Bishopstown and always found it ok, this Bully's is no different. We went in a group, waitress was very friendly and efficient enough but everything in Bully's is only ok. Average prices, average food, average service.
15 Maylor Street, Cork City, Cork
Service is ok, food is ok but the atmosphere is completely missing. The decor is lacking and it feels cold and a little uncomfortable. I would not rush back.
Paul Street, Cork City, Cork
I work with large groups and always bring them here, great space upstairs and a menu everyone is happy with. The food is good and portions are very generous so no one is left hungry!
The East Village Bar Restaurant and Hotel
East Village, Douglas, Cork
Great spot, good service, tasty food and reasonable prices. I would recommend the nachos and quesadillas. They also do a take away menu (no delivery).
6 Bridge Street, Cork City, Cork
I love this place, love the food, the service needs work but you would get over that if it wasn't sooooooooo overpriced!!! I went with friends after work and it is a great spot for after work drinks but the prices are ridiculous for the amount you get.
Il Padrino Pizza Pasta House
21 Cook Street, Cork City, Cork
Yum!! My boyfriend and I went for dinner and had a gorgeous risotto and a tasty fish pasta dish. Lovely starters, ok wine but all very affordable and a lovely casual atmosphere. We are definately going back I would highly recommend it. Great place for a chat with friends or a romantic meal.

I was SO disappointed by this restaurant, the food is very very average, nothing that I would go back for. The service was honestly appalling, we had to almost hassle them into taking our orders, it took forever to catch their attention and they never came back to ask if we needed anything else or if everything was ok. 34 Patrick Street, Cork City, Cork
I am so surprised that this place got good reviews, I thought it was terrible! Poor bland food that seemed like it was microwaved, poor service our waitress could not have been more disinterested and the place just feels cheap from the furniture to the decor. I would not go back.
