We walked in this place on a random Friday afternoon, having received the word The Thresher had one of the best fish counters in town. I must admit, this is totally true.. The seating area at the front of the restaurant has a nice view of the street, the wine list (compiled by Justin) has some of the best value wines I've ever seen in any Dublin restaurant, and getting proper advise on which wine to take with a course, made the food even more amazing... Down to the food, I had the special (mackerel with chili..), which I was told to not remove the skin (yeah, thanks for that tip!) and as starter their signature chowder, which I eat a lot as comparison dish.. This one was in fact, just perfect! With all the elements, service, food, wine choice, interior, ambiance I give this place a well deserved 5 out of 5, Hoping they can keep this level of excellence in the future of course, but in the meantime I have declared this my new favorite place to go!

I haven't been to Dunne & Crescenzi for over a year, after some bad experiences (we didn't get seated, we had to grab a table ourselves even though the restaurant was empty, the food took ages to be served, and the employees were cold and seemed very bored), so last night I decided to just go for a bottle of wine with the wife, thinking that it's impossible to mess up with just a quick drink... silly me! The wine was great, good value and all, so we decided to order a cheese platter.. It all started when the waitress didn't know what a cheese platter was, and we had to point to their own menu.. (OMG!) Then, after 30 minutes, I asked if the cheese platter was coming, she simple told me that "the kitchen is very busy, I can cancel the order for you?" which again showed no respect for us. Anyway, to cut a long story short; I am not impressed by their customer service at all, and should have stayed away. Don't get me wrong, the food (for what I can remember) is great, but management should either change their policies or change their staff.

Juniors
2 Bath Avenue, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

After a bad experience in a different restaurant earlier last night, we decided to walk from Sandymount to Juniors... We were so glad we did! The restaurant was packed, so we left our phone number at the bar, and left for a drink next door. We could see the people leaving, and .. immediately at 21:55 we got a call to say our table was ready. The food we got was amazing; the special (veal on a base of salad and mayonnaise with capers and balsamic) was amazing! Cooked till perfection, my wife had the hake which was just as great! The bar staff joined us for a drink after their work was over, and we had a very very nice night overall. A little gem!

Langkawi
46 Upper Baggot Street, Dublin 4, City Centre South, Dublin

Went yet again to the Langkawi, as we wanted something Asian, but were not in the mood for the neighboring Thai (which is also very good for that matter!) and again had a great meal.. The Satay Daging is a great starter to go for, the satay sauce has a nice little kick to is (without compromising on the overall taste) and for mains I was advised to go for the Gulai Chicken, which had nice well cooked but tender chicken and a beautiful deep taste to finish it off.. Now, as I was driving I couldn't drink, but my wife told me the Spanish house white was crisp and clean, and for 22 euro a reasonably priced.

Indie Spice (Sandymount)
23-24 Sandymount Green, Dublin 4, Sandymount, Dublin

I have been here a couple of times again over the last couple of months, but must say that the food is way too expensive for what you get. It's 'ok' but if I'm expected to pay up to 24 euro for a Monk fish curry, I expect it to be served on a golden plate! I haven't tried the take away yet, that looks more reasonably priced.. Overall, it's not bad, but seeing the amount of people there at dinner time (=not a lot) they would be better off lowering the prices a bit, to attract more customers per night. (Pre recession prices imho!)
