We eat here regularly' the food is great so are the staffand and its in a lovely location. The menu is changed regularly to suit the seasons but some favourites remain on the menu all the time, like the belly pork and seabass which are divine. Another favourite of mine is the smoked cod risotto starter- to die for. I think its one of the best restaurnts in Wicklow

Crazy Crab Cafe Bistro
Kilmore Quay, Kilmore, Wexford

I read a lot of good reviews about this restaurant so we decided to give it a try. It doesnt look much from the outside or indeed the inside, its quite basic but if you are lucky enough to get a window seat you have lovely sea views. The food is not overly expensive and the menu reads good, My husband had mackerel which was nicely cooked, I wasn't very hungry so I decided to have the starter of langoustine they looked and tasted lovely but I had to send them back as the digestive tract had not been removed and it was impossible to eat them without getting sandy grit in every mouthful. It wasn't very busy when we were there but the waiting staff didn't seem to know what they were doing, taking orders from people who just walked in the door and leaving others already seated unattended. A little more attention to detail is needed, in my humble opinion.

Lamb Doyles
Blackglen Road, Sandyford, Dublin

We visited here on a deal we got off the internet and what a disappointment. Especially as the reviews we read were mostly good. I ordered the homemade burger and at under €10 it was fine but my husband ordered fillet steak and if we had to pay the full €24.95 we would have sent it back. It was cut into two 2 cm thick (or should i say thin) pieces and came well done rather than medium rare as ordered, it had one mushroom the size of an old penny and no sun-blushed tomato as stated on the menu and the pepper sauce was tasteless. The pub itself looked a bit jaded but the staff were friendly and helpful. Needless to say we won't be revisiting it.

Bertie's Bistro
Prospect House, Church Street, Wicklow Town, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

We had a lovely night here recently. The atmosphere and service was very good, as was the food. In fact, our starters and desserts were excellent. My partner liked his main course but I was a little disappointed, my crispy duck was not crispy, the stuffing was lovely but the sauce could have been more concentrated, in my opinion, it was a little bland, but my toblerone cheese cake made up for it. There is one thing that I would like though, I find three courses a bit much (but I’m greedy so if it’s on offer I’ll stuff myself). I’d prefer if they offered a deal such as two courses plus a glass of wine or beer for a similar price.

Katie Daly's
78 Main Street, Gorey, Wexford

We were in Gorey last Sunday so we decided to try Katy Dalys. The restaurant is quite nice and the staffs are friendly. We just had two main courses. My husband had one of the board specials, roast of the day, not the best he ever had - it was a little chewy. I had the goats cheese, roast vegetable and pesto flat bread, it was delicious, the salad that accompanied it was also good and a good sized portion and chips ( why do so many restaurants serve these vacuum packed chips, they don’t taste of anything and the texture is all wrong). If we are in Gorey again I’d chance another visit, mainly because it is good value for money.

The Bistro Enniskerry
Powerscourt Arms Country House, Enniskerry, Wicklow

We dined here on a wet and windswept November night and the bistro was so cosy . We bought the menu pages deal - which was three courses for two people , off the a la carte menu, for €49 (worth €100). Our daughter tagged along so we just added another main course to complete a lovely night out. The food was fabulous, the menu had great variety, we had the scallops on parsnip puree and pancetta crisp to start and it was divine. My daughter had duck which was lovely and my husband had fillet steak cooked to perfection and a lovely whiskey mushroom cream sauce. The accompanying vegetables were wonderful – roast vegetables with dauphinoise potato. The desserts looked very tempting but we finished off with lovely boards of Irish cheeses . Service was also first class. A fantastic night in a lovely bistro, in a pretty village. We will be back, it was an unforgettable dining experience.

Donelli's
Market Square, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

We had lunch here on a lovely, crisp autumnal day. As most of the restaurant is upstairs we had a lovely view of the Market Square beneath. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the décor is stylish. At lunch time you can get a main course plus a glass of house white or red wine for €8.95 to €10.95. It is, by far, the best value I have come across recently, especially as the food and choices are so good. I had ricotta and spinach ravioli with a creamy tomato sauce and salad - delicious. My husband had Mexican lasagna, which sounds a bit strange, but he said it was one of the nicest things he had ever eaten (I tasted it and I had to agree). This came with a salad but there was no problem when my husband asked for chips instead. The staff couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. All in all a lovely experience. They also do dinner on Friday and Saturday night. A starter, main course and a half bottleof wine or a beer per person for €25. This is a great idea - usually these deals are dinner for two plus wine, which makes it awkward if you need to invite a third person. I can highly recommend this place day or night. We have been here several times in the past, it never disappoints, and there are slight changes to the menu all the time so there are always surprises.

Wrights Findlater Howth Restaurant
Findlater House, North Co. Dublin, Howth, Dublin

We ate in the restaurant upstairs what a disappointment . I ordered the lobster it came with chips and garlic butter. It was very small and I have no idea why, but when I cracked open the claw there was no meat inside, only what looked like a teaspoon of soggy mash or something. This was on part of the the body also, it didnt taste "off" but it was not good, and it was priced at €36.00. My husband has surf and turf which he found to be okay. The prawns were lovely but the meat tasted of liver. He did not mind this as he likes liver but as I don't l could not have eaten it. The service was fine but we wont be back - ever.

Black 'n Blue Grill - Closed
Church Street, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

I have been to this restaurant a few times now and it doesn’t disappoint. The early bird menu is a bit predictable but the a la carte menu reads really well. We decided to share a starter. We had crab tagliatelle it was delicious and just as well we shared it as it was a bit portion. My daughter had the sea bass which she enjoyed and I had a delicious prawn dish with Asian flavours and beautiful home made chips (so many restaurants now serve up those ghastly vacuumed packed ones). It was a Tuesday night so it was only half full so its hard to judge the service, but on our night it was excellent.

The Lobster Pot (Wexford)
Ballyfane, Carne, Wexford

The Lobster Pot is situated in a lovely place, near Carne Beach. It looks lovely on the outside, old worldly and with lots of flowers and it is equally as atmospheric on the inside. The menu reads very well with lots of fish dished but it is very expensive. We both had the Crab Mornay. It is listed on the Starters menu ( price €13.95) but it comes with a brown scone so it was substantial enough for a light lunch. It was really lovely, creamy and cheesy and with lots of crab meat. If I were marking on the Crab Mornay alone I would mark the food 5 out of 5, but we have eaten there before.

Ristorante Morsiani - Closed
1 Fitzwilliam Square, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

I have been here several times with my husband and we love it for Sunday lunch. I find the evening menu a bit pricy but I have heard that they do an early bird menu now. Only there seems to be someting wrong with their web site so I don't know if this is true. My daughter was home for a few days so I brought her for Sunday lunch. The food is always delicious and very authentic Italian. The service is great. My daughter loves Italian food and she had the fresh pasta Bolognese and chicken with 4 cheese sauce, she loved every mouthful And I had the cod with a creamy tomato sauce and it is the best tomato sauce I have ever tasted. It doesn’t state it on Menupages that all the main courses on the lunch menus are around €11.00 so it is great value. The only criticism I have is that we didn’t get any bread to mop up the lovely sauces.

Al Mondo
Abbey Street, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

I decided to try Al Mundo again having gone there once before about a year ago. As my daughter was with me for a few days holiday we ate out a few times that week and it was not the best night out we had nor was it the worst. We both had the early bird which at €21 for 4 courses was good value ( is tea or coffee considered a course?), but both of us would have preferred 2 courses at a slightly better rate, 3 courses is a bit much for us especially mid week. Both starters were a disappointment. The cheese wontons and the prawns in filo were just like the frozen variety that you can pick up in any supermarket. But the main courses were lovely I had the lamb shank and my daughter had the sea bass both were very well cooked. The cheese cake was delicious. And our waitress was lovely really friendly and attentive.

Ashford House on the Weir Gastro Pub
Ashford House, Ashford, Wicklow

I had not been to Ashford House for a long time and was pleasantly surprised at the new menu. There is a great variety of dishes to choose from on the menu. I just had two starters, goats cheese and red onion tartlet which was on filo pastry (lovely and light) and duck spring rolls both were delicious and very reasonably priced. But my husbands roast pork was a very small portion for an average price but it. Service was great, our waitress was very attentive. We had a look at the early bird menu (not available on our visit because it was Sunday 4pm) which seems great value so we will be back.

The Silver Fox Seafood Restaurant
Crossfarnogue, Kilmore Quay, Kilmore, Wexford

We had a lovely meal in The Silver Fox and even though it was after 4pm we were allowed to choose from the lunch menu. I had the beef and guinness pie and my husband had fish and chips both were lovely. Nice atmosphere too and they didnt seem to mind people wandering in and sitting at a table set for dinner and just ordering a coffee. I have tried other restaurnats in the area but this is the one I will go back to.
