Gaylord Tandoori restaurant
26 Railway Street, Navan, Meath
Reviewed 10th December 2008 ( visited 10th December 2008 )This is a lovely Indian restaurant without a doubt the best in Navan if not Meath or Leinster . or Ireland! True I heard a man on Gerry Ryans radio show saying he has eaten in indians all over the country & this was the best!! Great service beautiful spacious interiors great service probably best for a big party occasion give it a try.
La Scala (Trim) restaurant
Emmett House, Finnegan's Way, Trim, Meath
Reviewed 28th May 2009 ( visited 25th April 2009 )used to eat here all the time until they upped the price of the early bird from €18.95 to a massive €24.95 ... in recession times I guess we wont be the only customers they have lost .. silly thing to do at this time when most are reducing prices.
45 South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Sat at a table just inside the door, terribly draughty we should have asked to move. Terrible smells every so often like a bad case of drainage problems .. ?? They need to check this out but the worst was the price and value for money. Veggie Tagine 9.95 for a couple of veg's in a tomato sauce, no rice, potatoes, not worth it. Not enough choice for vegetarians. They charged what I thought was €1 for water but x 3 as there was 3 of us so €3 .. rip off! A shared mezze for what I thought was €12 ended up being €12 p.p so €24 for a "plate of veggie dips" I could not believe that ... downright disgraceful! Needless to say it left a very sour taste. I wouldnt go back.
Ground Floor Restaurant
Bective Square, Kells, Meath
Ate here last Sunday place was packed after the meath game and moynalty fair people waiting on tables we were lucky just got in on time as we never booked ! Food was lovely staff were really friendly & very professional .. unusual these days! Only downside was sitting by open "curtain door" at entrance plus 2 windows open behind me so a bit drafty and was a bit shocked at price for 2 early birds & a childs dish but overall will be back abd would recommend food was lovely!

This place is dreadful ... wouldnt eat here if it was the last place on earth little plastic chairs packed together with a big mirror on the side wall to invade your privacy even more! Does anyone remember what this place was like 15 yrs ago?? It was a lovely little place with steps up to seating & nice plants everywhere then they knocked it down & created this monster! Food okay if you like chipper food with sambos thrown in I think we should have a vote and bring the old Hallins back because everyone I know agrees!
La Mezzanine @ Ardboyne Hotel
Dublin Road, Navan, Meath
Food is just okay nothing to wow you with but the main problem here is the service - the last 2/3 visits the waiters seem to wander around with tunnel vision and hang around the bar chatting ... hello service required please ended up walking out because its getting beyond a joke in here!
32/33 Trimgate Street, Navan, Navan, Meath
In my opinion this cafe has a very "safe" menu nothing different and pretty overpriced. They would benefit by reducing prices and changing menu. Anytime I go in here all people seem to be eating is a fry-up brekkie - this obviously is their winner and keeps them busy.
The Old Darnley Lodge
Main Street, Athboy, Athboy, Meath
This is the sort of hotel restaurant that has lots of potential but the kitchen are letting the side down badly. Pretty pricey for a small town hotel - We ordered fajitas which were €18.95 and didn't even come with the usual of salsa, guacamole etc; had to ask waitress thinking she had forgot but she said they normally did not come with them but she would try & get them for me - well she did but my god has the chef in there never eaten out & had fajitas .... normally they come with those ... ahem !! Chips & salads pretty bland I just get the impression they need to get a better menu going here its pretty old fashioned. Could be really nice as the hotel is quite nice.

Eden Restaurant @ Bellinter House Hotel
Bellinter House, Navan, Meath
This is where I go with friends & Family on a special occasion because it is very expensive but worth it. My favourite thing about this place is the place! As soon as you drive in & approach this old building which I think used to be a convent and walk in the door your somewhere special. They should be proud of the interior & furnishings really art deco and funky! Anyway getting on to the restaurant ... little narrow spiral staircase down to it is so old world they should be clapped on the back for keeping it.Food is really nice great chefs obviously working hard only reason I didnt give 5 stars is that people I have eaten here with (not me!) find it ridiculous that you must pay for side order of veg to accompany your main meal and given the price you should expect that and other reason is that vegetarians dont have much of a choice actually none only 1 vegetarian option on set menu so like it or lump it at least two would be better so TAKE NOTE please as I will be back and I dont eat fish either unfortunately!
Checkov's Coffee House
12 Trimgate Street (Off Bakery Lane), Navan, Navan, Meath
I come here at least once a week. The food is gorgeous reasonable staff are friendly & its a cosy little place upstairs of an old town house complete with fireplace. The baked potatoes & salads are lovely & healthy and as for the desserts ... all homemade & gorgeous e.g strawberry & rhubarb crumble which I liked so much I now make myself. The beauty of this place is the menu with loads on offer and being vegetarian I just love it here. Navan wouldnt be the same without checkovs!
Vanilla Pod Restaurant
Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells, Meath
NEVER AGAIN .... 6 of us ate here last nite it was awful service very slow tiny portions of food on their early bird menu which they still have not changed .... quasadillas were a joke no-one was impressed one person summed it up perfectly saying they were "mean" was I left a review last time which they obviously did not read as nothing changed except it was worse and I will not be back - you need more than a snazzy looking restaurant to impress people and I dont think this place has a future.(you cud tell by the slow service - less staff)
18-20 Blackcastle Square, Navan, Meath
After previously giving a review of 5 stars because I have enjoyed the service & food here so much it just goes to show it depends on the waitress you have & the chef on the night and after eating here last Friday night I was left shocked with the very unprofessional waitress I had who without going into the details came to out table over a mistake that occurred and in front of all diners around us with a loud voice she embarrassed us and ruined our night. I never saw this girl before she seemed to be in charge on the floor but she could learn from the others - I left a generous tip because the other staff were lovely as always.
Bridge Street, Navan, Meath
I had stopped eating here as the food so bad but went last week for an early bird with my family not knowing what to expect. Firstly zero atmosphere in restaurant music too low you can hear your neighbours conversations even whispering! Starters were actually ok so I thought hey now things have improved maybe a new chef? However, starters were the only good thing the rest was awful no-one enjoyed their food. This sums it up ... I asked for a side of the veg of the day ... you wont believe it a bowl FULL OF SLICED PARSNIPS AND NOTHING ELSE ... you wouldnt get it in fawlty towers!!
43 Watergate Street Navan, Navan, Meath
Are you all having a laugh out there ... 5 stars for a cafe thats basically a greasy chipper takeaway with a little room of tables off it - they might do good chips if thats what you want. Last time I was here it was noisy full of drunks having a row I was sitting with my partner & child and no-one did anything to stop it also this place would charge you for the salt & vinegar if they could,I asked for mayo and after leaving & checking receipt they had charged me €1.50 for a dollop of mayo anyway will never go back in there the prices they charge for a takeaway are ridiculous go check for yourself its no wonder its Navans oldest takeaway!
26 Trimgate Street, Navan, Meath
After giving a really bad review rating previously I MUST say fair is fair and review again because I ate reluctantly there last Friday night with friends and it was fantastic - the service was 100% improved the waitress we had was one of the nicest ever and very professional, the food was amazing and either they read my last review I dont know but they have even done away with the service charge which amazingly we would have had no problem paying this time as service was excellent. I am very impressed that a restaurant can make these changes keep it up the loft we will definetly be back!!
