I urge everyone to try the Egggs Benedict at the Liberty. This is an undoubted treat and hang the cholesterol- this is a dish to die for and the Liberty execute it perfectly. I have never been disappointed with either tthe service or the food here and I love the Georgetown-Washington atmosphere of the place

Out of the Blue
Waterside, Dingle, Dingle, Kerry

This was our second visit to OOTB and we loved it and will return. The food is REAL food and simply and freshly prepared and served. For main course I had the brill which was substantial and jcooked to perfection and my partner had the monkfish kebabs which were delicious. The wine list is interesting and well priced and the service was excellent. We love the quirkiness of the decor (let's face it it is basically a shed)and atmosphere- the paintings are great! The place is small so if you get a table in the outer area it can be a bit of a squash! It's not cheap but for such fresh tasting food it's worth it!

Salvado's Bistro
7 Main Street, Kenmare, Kerry

Top marks for value, service and excellent food. We went here when passing through Kenmare at a bank holiday weekend and were greeted warmly and they managed to squeeze us in between bookings. The food was excellent- great tapas at a very reasonable price and main courses were excellent- had the monkfish (at 18 euros the dearest item on the menu) and it was mouthwateringly good- my partner had the venison which looked amazing and well presented and she loved it. A great dining experience and we will return.

Yindees @ Lyrath Estate Hotel
Paulstown Road, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny

Loved the decor and service but we found the food disappointing, We both love Thai food and looked forward to a treat but it was not to be, While the food was adequate it did not have that spicy, crisp, fresh tasting appeal but was rather smothered in sauces which disguised somewhat the tired ingredients. The menu is short and the kitchen should be able to present flavoursome food.

Anocht Restaurant
Castle Yard, The Parade, Kilkenny, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny

Went here for a quick lunch and was disappointed, The food on display looked tired and we both had the soup and panini option and it was a mistake, The soup was sludge colour and tasted of cauliflower which had been frostbitten and the panini was stodgy and unappetising. We will definitely not return.

La Perla @ Lyrath Estate Hotel
Paulstown Road, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny

Great meal here with my partner. The decor is rather dull but the dull atmosphere is more than compensated by the excellent food and professional service, I had the halibut for main and it was excellent and beautifully presented. My partner had the venison which she said was the best she ever tasted. Full marks for the service which was friendly and professional.

Jo'Burger
137 Rathmines Road, Dublin 6 , South Dublin, Rathmines, Dublin

First time here- the concept is great and the service was friendly and professional. We loved the food but unfortunately I must be in the age group where loud music is a no-no. Conversation was limited in our group to monosyllabic. Love the place -the foood but won't be returning.

Milano (Cork)
8 Oliver Plunkett st, Cork City, Cork

Went here at 6 pm to have something before a meeting. I had not been here for quite some time. There was quite a buzz and the service was speedy, friendly and attentive. I had the Margherita Leggera which was something new for me. Vert tasty. I will return for a longer dining experience. The service was 100%

Star Anise
4 Bridge Street, Cork City, Cork

First visit and will be back. From the moment we walked in the door the welcome was warm, sassy, lively and professional. We had the early bird and the choice was wide. The waitress gave a great speil on the specials for the night which titillated the tastebuds. I went for the goats cheese (splendid)! and my partner went for the prawn brochette with a tangy sauce (fabulous!). For main course I had the chicken with preserved lemon (astoundng fresh lemony taste)& my partner had the duck which she loved. All in all an exciting dining experience with great cooking, great service and a good atmosphere.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen - GBK (South William Street)
14 South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I will return to this good value restaurant again. While wandering around Dublin looking for somewhere to eeat on my own I came across this place in the former Cooke's restaurant. The service impressed from the start as the waiter, before taking my order informed me that all burgers were medium cooked and if I wanted well done to let the wait staff know- he also let me know that burgers toook 15 minutes which was nice to know. I ordered the Lamb Burger and it was well presented- towering on the plate and the chips on the side were excellent. I had a New Zeland beer which was new to me and found the wait staff friendly and welcoming and they made sure- as they seemed to do with all customers- to say goodbye and thanks as I left. A great place to eeat and very good value.

Park Hotel
Kenmare, Kenmare, Kerry

Overall this was a disappointment when we went there for lunch. The dining area for lunch is rather tired and the paintings on the wall rather hard to look but we looked forward to a nice lunch in a hotel which seems to continually garner good reviews. Although the number of diners was low and it was post lunch time the service was appalling. The waitress arrived -handed us the lunch menu and disappeared for quite some time. When we searched the barman took our lunch order and our waitress then re-appeared to take our order. The menu was adequate - calamari- crab cakes- beef salad- ordinary are and when it finally arrived it was quite simply -ordinary e.g. calamari presented huddled together in a small soup bowl with some mayonnaise in a small bowl to accompany it- the other dishes were adequate also. Nothing to actually complain about but nothing to make one return. Now both the barman and the waitress were pleasant and helpful but the length of time between the time we sat down and when we were served was 35 minutes- too much time to contemplate the bad paintings!

West Cork Gourmet Store
Bantry, Bantry, Cork

This is an institution in the locality to judge from the stream of customers coming in for wine & cheese & other delights. We had lunch outside on rather rickety chairs with some rather determined wasps but we loved it. Lunch was basically whatever you selected from the deli counter . We had four delicious cheeses and great bread. Simple and delightful and cheap. The atmosphere is rather higgeldy piggeldy and the owner is clearly passionate about food. It is well worth a roadside stop if travelling from Bantry to Glengariffe. We returned another ay and bought great cheeses and wines but sadly I overheard the owner saying that he plans to close for the winter this year so get there before he closes!

Good Things Cafe
Durrus, Ahakista Road West Cork, Bantry, Cork

Wow- from the time we walked up the herb lined path to the restaurant we knew we were in for a treat. This is also a cookery school so we expected high standards but the food experience exceeded all our expectations. The lunch menu was short but it was difficult to choose from the excellent menu. Two glasses of house white (excellent!) and a glance at other tables and the food being served and we made our choices. I had the broccoli/blue cheese/anchovy tart and my dining partner had the fresh filleted mackerel with gooseberry sauce. Both were fresh tasting and sparkled the taste buds. With two coffees the bill wasn't cheap but well worth it. The atmosphere and service was excellent and we will return- perhaps to do a cookery course and find out how they do it

The Maigue Restaurant @ Dunraven Arms Hotel
Dunraven Arms Hotel, Adare, Adare, Limerick

Love this place and will return. Simple, straightforward, fresh tasting lunch menu here with not a chicken wing or carvery in sight. Excellent value also. Passing through Adare at lunchtime I called in and the bar and conservatory area had a simple lunch menu comprising two main courses- hake (14 euro) and beef bourginon (12 euro) and a selection of interesting sandwiches @4.50 which were freshly prepared on delicious brown or white bread and nicely garnished and amazing value for such surroundings. Love to see a place which has a short menu and does it well. The service was attentive and speedy and the atmosphere was welcoming, summery and comfortable.

O'Donovan's Restaurant
58 Main Street, Midleton, Cork

Have not been here for a while and I see that the interior has been refreshed. The menu is varied with duck, chicken, pork, fish and steak on the menu. Service is excellent as one would expect in a family run restaurant and the wine list is extensive. The scallops with black pudding was an excellent well considered dish and they offer it both as a starter and main course. The duck breast of duck was delivered to the next table and looked good and I heard murmurs of approval. I had the rack of lamb and it was a perfectly executed dish while my dining partner had the 10 oz sirlion steak which she said was beautifully cooked and tender. There is a good atmosphere and I would recommend this restaurant. I read the early bird menu and for 25 euro (5.00-7.30) it looked like superb value. We will retuurn!

Fenns Quay Restaurant
Sheares Street, Cork City, Cork

Had a great lunch here yesterday. The lunch time choice was wide and varied and reasonably priced. I had the chicken and couscous and it was excellent- the chicken fresh tasting, light and spicy and the couscous bursting with flavours. The presentation was excellent with fresh herbs scattered on the dish. My dining partner had the salmon cakes and salad and pronounced them excellent. The lunch was good value at 13.95 each and the staff were attentive and responsive. Must dine there in tthe evening sometime soon!

Gourmet Burger Bistro
8 Bridge Street, Cork City, Cork

Yes it's a good-value restaurant and I would rate it an A for adequate. Atmosphere was rather dead but then it was early in the evening. Service was attentive and good humoured. The burgers were ok but, as has been mentioned by others, the chip portion is very very smalll. Very reasonably priced and I will return.

The Club Brasserie
Lapps Quay, Cork City, Cork

I usually love this restaurant but I feel that the mid week special is to bbe avoided. Went here prior to a visit to the theattre and ordered ffrom the 20.95 prix fixe menu and we were disapppointed. The choice available is limited and I woould expect that but a choice of either soup or caesar salad to start and main course of either salmon cakes or minute steak is rather limiting. A glass of red/white is also included so it is good value. We both had the caesar salad and it was adequate- cos letttuce- croutons- nice dressing -what more could you want. We both had the salmon cakes as main. Two salmon cakes are served on a plate swimming with sauce (I saw another table requestiing no sauce so clearly they have eaten here before). No complaint wiith the sauce but the salmon cakes hhad tthe consistency of pureed baby food and were encased in a hard crust- so hard tthat with tthe sauce swimming about the plate care was needed if one was not to spend the evening with a splattering of sauce down ones front. The salmon "bombs" were served with what must be the tiniest salad bown known to catering. Why? the salad would had looked better and the portion would have been adequate on a small plate. We will be back here again but will someone revamp this prix-fixe menu please!

Hardwood Restaurant
31 Popes Quay, Cork City, Cork

Had an excellent lunch here. I had the omlette and my partner had the oysters. The omlette was substantial and very tasty- the oysters were great value, served imaginatively and the total cost with a glass of wine was very very reasonable. Service was efficient and ffriendly. We will definitely return in the evening as the menue looks fantastic.

La Lavanda
Main Street, East Village, Douglas, Cork

Having read the most recent reviews I hate to spoil the run of positive comments but quite honestly I had lunch there with a small group and it was totallly uninspiring. Love the premises but the food was poor. I had the "fish fingers" and it was tasteless- another had the vegetarian chow-mein and it seemed to be composed entirely of onion- another had the chicken tika masala and it looked ok but acccompanied by two slices of bread! What was that about? why not pappadams? another had the chicken burger and another the chicken creole both lackluster. Another had the trout special of the day and it was poor. The service was listless but efficient. The prices are reasonable but the overall eating experience was forgettable. Won't be back!

Isaacs Restaurant
48 MacCurtain Street, Cork City, Cork City, Cork

Great atmosphere- went her pre-theatre and found it hard to leave. Had the tapas plate between us to start- great - then duck confit for one and fish cakes the other and a bottle of house red- 70 euros- great valus and great service- food is good rather than great and good value- will return!
