Staff were really lovely - very friendly and personable. We availed of the early bird menu which was excellent value. The monkfish arrabiata was really delicious and there was plenty of it! The only criticism I would have is that the lighting is far too bright - something I find in many hotel restaurants. It ruins the ambiance and could be easily rectified. Dessert (chocolate mousse) wasn't great - disappointingly insipid but a minor glitch in an otherwise beautiful meal. Will definitely be back.

Il Fornaio Restaurant (IFSC)
1B Valenta House, Custom House Square, Dublin 1, City Centre, IFSC, Dublin

We went to Il Fornaio for dinner before a show at the 3Arena. It was practically empty when we arrived at 6pm, but by 7pm it was full and the atmosphere was lovely. The waitress was extremely attentive and helpful and the food was really delicious. We shared a Caesar salad to start which was huge and very tasty. Our two kids shared a margharita pizza and although they don't usually eat very much, they polished off every last bite and claimed it was the best pizza ever! I had a homemade rigatoni dish with Tuscan sausages and a rose sauce - absolutely divine! My husband had saltimbocca and it was authentic and delicious. The food was very fairly priced and we will definitely be back!

Sushi King now closed on Dawson St
Gochi Japaenese-French Fusion Now Open, City Centre South, Dublin

We visited Sushi King for a bite to eat prior to a show at the Gaiety. Upon arrival, I was slightly disappointed with the general atmosphere and decor - it felt like very little effort was made to improve the ambience and dining experience. The atmosphere was lacking but that is possibly due to the fact that we were there quite early - 6pm. Perhaps the atmosphere improves later in the evening. The waitress was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was very tasty and reasonably priced - highly recommend the Bang Bang chicken. My main issue with the place, and the reason I will not return, is that they were out of three items we wished to order from the menu - edamame, tuna sashimi and a meat dumpling starter. We were told that this was due to the fact that they had a busy lunch however you would not expect that they would be sold out of these items by 6pm on a Monday! I was very disappointed as I was looking forward to both the edamame and the sashimi. All in all, although the food was delicious and good value, there are better sushi restaurants in Dublin so I'm afraid I won't be back.

Siam Thai (Andrews Street)
14/15 Andrews Street, City Centre South, Dublin

The food itself was faultless and the staff very knowledgeable and helpful. I would say, however, that I found it to be expensive, and am surprised that more people are not saying the same, to be honest. There were 3 of us, we had 2 bottles of wine (2nd cheapest on the menu!), starters and mains and one glass of coke and the total was €180 - I feel that is excessive in this day and age. As I said, lovely food but with so much choice out there and more value for money, I won't be back.

Hugo's
6 Merrion Row, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Nice busy atmosphere; great service - never left waiting; food was really lovely - I had a starter platter of cheeses, breads, olives, etc. which was to die for and certainly plenty for 2 people to share! My only criticism is that the menu was a little "odd" for want of a better word and I had to opt for the aforementioned platter as a starter, as there was nothing else that I could choose (I don't eat hare/rabbit, poached eggs for lunch started didn't appeal, etc.) I would have liked to see a couple of the old reliables on there for starters! Otherwise, lovely meal and would visit again.

The Lord Edward
23 Christchurch Place, City Centre South, Dublin

Food was sublime! Went for the early bird menu as we liked everything on it so did not need to order from full menu. The food was absolutely gorgeous - cannot find fault. This restaurant was recommended to me by a colleague who knows every restaurant in Dublin and when I asked her to recommend a restaurant near Vicar Street, she asked if I liked seafood and if so, recommended the Lord Edward. I have to say that I wasn't expecting the food to be so perfect - cannot understand why it hasn't been recommended to me before now! I have to say that the atmosphere was slightly lacking; found the same when we went back there for a drink after our show - just something missing. But all in all, I will DEFINITELY be back!

Bar Italia
26 Blooms Lane , Lower Ormond Quay, City Centre North, Italian Quarter, Dublin

I went here for lunch with a group of friends who were visiting Dublin and who had eaten here the night before and recommended it; we were seated immediately which was great; the service was slow although we were in no hurry however I had my two children with me and anyone who has kids knows that it's best to get food quickly for children when visiting a restaurant! The food was delicious - I had the antipasto misto as my main course and I enjoyed every bite. Although I enjoyed the food and the company, the service was not up to scratch and there are too many other better options out there for me to return to this restaurant.

Bits and Pizzas
15 Patrick Street, Dun Laoghaire, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

Went here with hubby and two kids (6&2) for early dinner; service was excellent - our server looked after the kids very well with notebooks and pens and spoke directly to them rather than through us which was nice. Very friendly service. There was a great value offer on for two courses which my husband and I both opted for and we were delighted with the food. Nothing spectacular but tasty, hot and enjoyable - exactly what we wanted and expected. The girls each ate their FULL pizza which never happens so hats off to the chef! Great value - I used my menupoints to get a €30 voucher so was even better value! Would definitely recommend for a bite.

Elephant & Castle
18/19 Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

came here for quick bite before heading to a show; we were pressed for time so decided to have two starters and a portion of chips - I definitely didn't need to be worried about whether or not we would have enough food! I ordered the wings I had heard so much about and was not disappointed. Mouth is watering as I think of them... Other half had the ribs which were also delicious. We had a couple of beers and hats off to our waiter - he urged me to try something different and said he would give me a "regular" beer instead if I didn't like what he brought which I thought was very nice of him (loved the beer he recommended so didn't need to change). Staff were quick and friendly - I would definitely recommend this place.

Kitchen
3 South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I went here for a quick dinner last night; we were seated immediately (no reservation) and the service although not as warm and friendly as I like (particularly in Italian restaurants) was pleasant and efficient. We had two plates of pasta (one special, one from the menu) and two glasses of wine each; wines were lovely and the food was exactly what we hoped it would be - flavourful, hot, tasty, exactly as described. Very reasonable (bill came to E39 plus tip for 2 main courses and 4 generous glasses of wine) and will definitely be back.

Il Fico
Dublin Road, Naas, Kildare

By far, the best night out I've had in years! The staff were great - I had to delay our reservation thanks to late babysitter and I wasn't made to feel like I was inconveniencing them; the service was excellent - attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing; the food was simply delicious (I had plaice special and friends had pasta with shrimp and broccoli and a caesar salad and all were superb); as we were there on a Saturday night, we had the privilege of being entertained by a wonderful singer; all in all, I would highly recommend Il Fico and I can't wait to go back!

The Cedar Tree
11a St Andrews Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

It has been a long time since I have eaten at The Cedar Tree and I was truly looking forward to it as I thoroughly enjoyed my last visit. I was disappointed to learn that on Tuesdays, the Cedar Tree restaurant is not open but you get the Cedar Tree menu at the restaurant next door; the waiter who greeted us couldn't have been more helpful and friendly - a credit to The Cedar Tree; the atmosphere was definitely lagging but we had opted for Early Bird menu so perhaps we were too early for any real atmosphere (also it was a Tuesday evening); we had Hommos, mixed kafta and falafel and all were tasty but lacked something special. Desserts were adequate. I would definitely go back as I love Lebanese food but I have to say, I wasn't blown away this time - maybe next time I'll go at the weekend at 9pm and forget the early bird!

Nostromo Private Party Venue
25a Lower Leeson Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Perfect for a quick lunch; a group of us went here for a colleague's leaving lunch and we were able to order ahead (they emailed the menu to us) which was very handy as we were a group of 14; I had the chili which was great; everyone's dishes look good and I didn't hear any complaints; service was efficient; will definitely go back.

Spurs Family Restaurant
U42 Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, Liffey Valley, Liffey Valley, Dublin

I loved this place for the first year or so that it was open however as far as I'm concerned, they have become greedy and have forgotten the fundamentals of running a restaurant - good customer service, good food, good value. Our entire family used to go here frequently as between us, we have 8 children and it was great to have the play area; we usually have to wait quite a long time to be seated (with such a large group) so the fact that they do not take reservations is disappointing; they also have a rule that every member of your party must be present or you lose your place in the queue! Once while waiting in line, I went into Boots to buy some rice cakes as the babies were getting antsy because we had been waiting in the queue for so long - when I came back, my sister-in-law was trying to convince the staff member that I would be there any second! Completely unnecessary. When we were eventually seated, the table was filthy and both high chairs had not been wiped down for quite some time so we had to wait standing beside our tables for a further 5 minutes while they cleaned it for us; this meant that we were standing by other diners and encroaching on their personal space which was uncomfortable for everyone; the food is hit-or-miss in my opinion but tending more to the miss side with each visit; on my last visit, I ordered the ribs and I had a sneaking suspicion that the meat had been glued to the bone and I was on Candid Camera - not quite the "succulent baby-back ribs" described on the menu. On our last visit, I would not allow my children into the play area as some of the children in there were nothing short of savage with no supervision whatsoever; I told one of them not to push other children and was told where to go - by a six year old! No adult in sight. I do believe that Spur request that children not be left unsupervised but this is not enforced whatsoever. Each one of us said that we would not hand over another cent of our hard-earned money to this place again. The greed is palpable...

Salamanca
1 St Andrews Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I have been here on a number of occasions and it is possibly my favourite restaurant in Dublin; the place is quite cramped but not as bothersome in a tapas bar as it would be elsewhere! The food is simply to die for - I can honestly say that I have probably at some stage eaten most if not all of the dishes on the menu and could not complain about a single one! Fantastic place to go if you like to share and sample and I, of course, will be back - and soon!

Trocadero
St Andrew Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

We went for the early bird special before a show; great atmosphere and we all felt that the early bird special was great value for money. There was a feeling of pressure to eat up and get out so that the table could be seated again however we refused to be rushed and the staff were always extremely pleasant and professional.

Yamamori Sushi, Tengu
38-39 Lower Ormond Quay, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin

Fantastic! The atmosphere was great, the food superb (although at 8pm they were out of edamame???) and great exellent value for money in my opinion. I have not eaten in the one on George's St. so cannot compare but I would certainly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good, reasonable, lively sushi restaurant.

Darkie Moores at The Ryevale Tavern
Pound Street, Leixlip, Leixlip, Kildare

Have eaten here twice in the past 6 months; on our first occasion, my husband (who is a restaurant manager and owner for the past 20 years in a number of different countries, including Ireland) ordered a steak "medium rare"; the steak arrived well done (his pet peeve!) and he sent it back; the owner arrived at our table and asked what the problem was; my husband explained that he had requested a medium-rare steak, had received a well-done steak and would appreciate a new steak; the manager proceeded to explain how his chef does medium-rare and explained that medium-rare is different in Ireland to North America (husband's accent is obvious)!; we all basically laughed as if he had told a joke but it turned out, he wasn't joking! He tried to tell my husband that in future, if he wants his steak done medium-rare (i.e. pinky-red in the middle) he needs to request rare! This has been a great source of amusement to us ever since. Hubby said with all due respect, manager to manager, owner to owner, he can hardly expect customers to request something they don't want and suggested that he instruct his chefs to cook food as it is requested by the customer. If he ordered rare and received rare, should he send it back and say that he although he ordered rare he was expecting medium-rare?? Anyway, we went back two weeks ago and hubby ordered the steak again and would you believe, he ordered his steak m-r and received well-done - didn't complain this time but vowed never to return; if an owner cannot take constructive criticism on board and ensure that the basics are not covered, it has to make you wonder... I have given a service rating of 2 - this is for the staff that did bring food and drinks in a timely manner, not for the manager/owner and his attitude and poor customer service skills. He has been in the business long enough - he should know better.

Da Vincis Restaurant (Leixlip)
Main Street, Leixlip, Kildare

I have eaten here on quite a few occasions having originally come from Leixlip; the atmosphere is great, upbeat and fun and a great place to bring kids; the food could be SO much better; it wasn't bad but the menu is your bog-standard Italian menu and it is not difficult to make each and every item on it - any decent chef with a passion for Italian food could greatly improve the quality of the food from this restaurant; there is a vibe of boredom or disinterest in the quality of the food, if that makes any sense - a real shame. A bit overpriced for what you get, in my opinion, but I will be back with the kids! It's nice to have somewhere that welcomes kids but also feels grown up!

Zest Cafe
Unit 6/7, Clane Shopping Centre, Clane, Kildare

I love this place for lunch, athough haven't been for dinner. Really great service - attentive and helpful when the children are with us! The food is really tasty and a little different and reasonably priced too.

Assaggio Restaurant @ The Westgrove Hotel
Westgrove Hotel, Abbeylands, Clane, Naas , Clane, Kildare

I eat here regularly and would highly recommend you try if you haven't done so already; menu is great - hard to choose though! The service is consistently good; As for recommendations, the wings are delicious, smoked chicken pasta is really tasty, Thai curry is to die for; I understand that they have added some new items to their menu in the last couple of weeks which is great to hear - nice to know they want to continue to interest their repeat customers.

Brady 's
Clock House, Maynooth, Maynooth, Kildare

Had a good Sunday carvery here; nothing too special but all the food was fresh, hot and tasty. The staff were good and did the best they could but they were finding it difficult to cope - I would suggest they get a few extra staff for the busy Sunday carvery. Will definitely go back.

profile_review

Vie de Chateaux
The Harbour, Naas, Kildare

Without a doubt, the best restaurant in Naas; the atmosphere was intimate and cosy; the food was fantastic and beautifully presented; service was fast without feeling like you were being rushed and all staff members were friendly; we had the special menu which was only €29 a head - absolute bargain! Reservation is essential for obvious reasons. I will definitely be back!

profile_review

The Storehouse Restaurant - Closed
Friary Lane Naas, Naas, Kildare

We went here for a family birthday dinner; I loved the atmosphere - busy and interesting; there was a group of "Hens" in and we were concerned that they would get loud and interfere with our enjoyment of our evening however they were seated in a separate room and for the most part, they behaved themselves (after a couple of discreet chats from the waiter and manager); the service was impeccable and the staff were very knowledgeable about both the food and wine menus. I look forward to returning.

The Monread Lounge & Bar
Monread Avenue, Naas, Naas, Kildare

This is my local and so I eat here perhaps once a month for handiness sake; although my experiences have not been as bad as previous reviewers', I have to say that everything can only be described as adequate - atmosphere, food, service, value; I understand that this place has recently changed hands and I noticed a marked difference in the quality of food (not sure if there has been a change in chef or perhaps a change in budget!). Either way, the new owner should take note...

The Ivy Inn (Old Owners)
Main Street, South Naas, Naas, Kildare

Great place for Sunday carvery; food was hot, tasty, plenty of it! Kiddie bowl very reasonably priced; good pub atmosphere. Will definitely go back.

profile_review

Ryans Food Company
Unit 8 Naas Town Centre, Naas, Kildare

Great place for a cuppa and a snack or a full lunch; child-friendly, nice busy atmosphere; great selection of food; my only slight criticism is that the food is somewhat overpriced for what you get. However I go here frequently as I know that the food and service are consistently good.

profile_review

Butt Mullins
Poplar Square, Naas, Naas, Kildare

I will never again hand over my hard-earned cash to this place; I can't cook and I would produce a better dinner than we had; the menu is so overpriced, it simply does not make sense that the place is still open. The staff know nothing about customer care and are an embarrassment to Naas - and this entire review has been generous. Note to menupages.ie - I tried to give this "restaurant" a 0 rating for value, but received an error message. the 1 rating I had to give is too much.

profile_review

Weeping Thaiger (Naas)
Wolfetone Street, New Town Centre, Naas, Kildare

Our entire family went for an "early bird" dinner for my Dad's birthday; atmosphere was certainly lacking - aside from ourselves there was only one other table of two and there was no background music playing; the food was simply fantastic - we all tend to share and try each other's dishes and it was hard to pick a favourite; service certainly wasn't up to scratch but we were in a good mood and in no rush so it didn't really bother us that much; early bird menu is fantastic value - overall, I will definitely be back!

profile_review

Gotham Cafe
8 South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Four of us had dinner here and came away with mixed reviews; the guacamole and antipasti were great; my calzone was nice although not exciting; one friend had the duck pizza and it was delicious; another friend (who has eaten here before) said that the food was not as good as previous visits; I couldn't fault the service; we had been advised from when we booked that they would need our table back at 8:30pm however they let us remain there for some time after that and even when they needed our table back, they relocated us outside (much to the smoker's delight!) and continued with the excellent service until closing time! I would go back as the food was good, great value and service was attentive and friendly.

ely winebar
22 Ely Place, (Just off St. Stephen’s Green), Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Ely wine bar; we were a group of 10 for lunch and the service was attentive without being overbearing, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was great; I loved the suggested wines with each menu item - will definitely visit again.

profile_review

Peploes Wine Bistro
16 St Stephen's Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

I went here for a work lunch and was very pleased overall; the food was tasty, service was quick and efficient and the atmosphere was busy and interesting; a little crowded perhaps but most places in Dublin are! Although it was missing something that I cannot quite put my finger on, I would certainly recommend this restaurant.

FIRE Restaurant and Lounge
Mansion House, Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin

I have eaten twice at Fire and have thoroughly enjoyed both visits. The staff are friendly and professional, the food is excellent, the place is interesting and the location is perfect! I would comfortably recommend this restaurant.
