Have dined in the Spice of India many years ago before Indian Restaurants started popping up in different areas. Decided for a change to order a delivery from Spice of India for the first time in years, and I have to say we were extremely disappointed. Firstly, the food delivered almost 40 minutes after the estimated delivery time. Not a good start. Food was terrible, ordered a Jalfrezi and Butter Chicken. The Jalfrezi was okay, not the nicest but okay to eat. The butter chicken was tasteless, bland and lacked any sort of flavour or seasoning. There was only 2/3 pieces of chicken, which was very disappointing. It's a shame, because Indian food if served right is amazing. We won't be returning, either sit in or for delivery. I'd rather seek alternative options.

Nosh + Coffee
Careys Lane, Cork, Cork City, Cork

Nosh + Coffee in Carey's Lane is my savour each and every day for my first, second and last cup of coffee of the day before heading to work in some offices located just behind in Opera Lane. First thing I'm going to mention is the staff (As you see from my other reviews, staff always play a big roll in whether or not I'll return somewhere.) This cafe couldn't have recruited better staff to oversee the day to day runnings of the store, always friendly, always attentive and always wanting to go that extra mile to make sure everything is perfect for you. Nosh + Coffee is the only cafe that I see the staff make an effort to try to say "Goodbye" to all the customers who leave the store, now obviously this is not always possible e.g. when its busy but thats understandable. The food in Nosh + Coffee Carey's Lane is exceptional, great wholesome food - made fresh for you then and there. Far too many places now have ready made meals, thrown in a freezer ... defrost and serve to the customer, which sometimes leaves the food tasting bland and boring. This is not the case here, the food is always made fresh and served up to your liking. Its worth noting actually that this store is one of the better of the Nosh + Coffee Franchise, this one and the one in Mahon Point are exceptional when it comes to the franchise. Bewley's coffee is served fresh in Nosh + Coffee and is always made to perfection without issues. As many people know from my old reviews, I never used to be a fan of Bewleys Coffee I used to think it was very bland, but when I started experiencing the coffee made correctly, by people who we can actually call Barista's (Because nowadays this term is used very loosely to describe people who make coffee.) I've actually learned to love Bewley's Coffee, so much that I now buy Bewley's Beans for my home espresso machine. The interior of the store is bright, vibrant and chic recently having new wallpaper installed downstairs, I have to say its very nice indeed. Plenty of seating both upstairs, outside and downstairs and always plenty of room for a buggy (as with a lot of new families, we find it hard to find places to accommodate us and the pram.) The owner of Nosh + Coffee in Carey's Lane is onto a gem here, a vibrant and very busy little cafe in the heart of Cork City, this place certainly deserves more recognition. I for one, personally love it.

Mexico to Rome
23 East Essex Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

Was up in Dublin again as a trip away with my partner and 9 week old son and we were strolling through Temple Bar and decided to head into Mexico to Rome as it looked busy, and the menu (12.95 for 2 courses) was very attractive, so we said we'd give it a go! We entered the restaurant and it was very busy, so we asked if there was more seating with room for a pram, and there was up at the very back past the kitchen. We had to struggle to lift the buggy up a few stairs, not one bit of help offered by the staff, who were very ignorant throughout the meal. We were brought the menu's pretty fast and spent a few minutes deciding before our order was taken. The starters were brought out quickly enough and were enjoyable, and also with the mains following promptly enough after the starters, the meals were really only average, there are much better restaurants around. Not once throughout the meal did any member of staff approach us to ask if our meal was okay or if we needed anything else, staff only approached at the end to take the plates. When the staff member brought us the bill, they appeared to have brought the wrong bill and had extra charges on this, I called the waiter and stated this to him, but he practically tried telling me this was our bill and tried arguing with me, he went off and a few minutes came back with another bill and said in a rude tone " I'm sorry, that was the wrong bill, here is your correct bill, and by the way its only 25c cheaper" I was thinking to myself, yes it may not be about the money but the principal, as another reviewer said beware of overcharging here! All in all, average food and horribly rude staff. Will be avoiding in the future and wont be visiting again, and would recommend trying other restaurants if in the temple bar area.

Eden (Patrick Street)
71/72 Patrick Street, Cork, Cork City, Cork

Had a meal here with my partner and newborn baby last week, after getting a deal voucher online. When I called on the restaurant I stated to them that we had a 2 month old baby and would be bringing him and they assured this was okay. So we thought it was going to be a great family evening out. Upon getting to the restaurant, it was empty and we were seated at a 2 seater table with nowhere to put the babys car seat, even after we advised them that we would have it with us. I asked for a table with 3/4 seats so we could have one to put the babys seat on, and were given a dirty look and the waitresses were not very pleased that we asked. We decided to let that go, and sat down to find the menu on the table which was a special menu with a few different main courses as a selection, even though on the deal website it stated we would have full choice of the restaurant menu, which was a bit of a disappointment as there were mains displayed on the deal website which weren't at the restaurant. This annoyed another couple who had sat down as she was vegetarian and there was no vegetarian option available on the set menu, she had to argue with the waitress to order something vegetarian. Service was extremely quick at the start, but slowed down to 20/30 minutes or so after the restaurant started getting busier, and this reflected in the staffs attitude too, it was blank, dull , unfriendly and not welcoming. The staff showed little interest in us, and only really wanted to get us to have our food and leave. The service here is terrible, absolutely terrible which is a shame because the food isn't too bad, but there are a lot more restaurants that service Thai / Chinese in the City where service is much better. I normally give places a second chance, but I think I'll be giving this one a miss.

Maximilians Bistro
Superquinn Shopping Centre, Dublin 15, Blanchardstown, Dublin

We at here last weekend as it was our first trip away as a family with a newborn who is only 5 weeks. We wanted somewhere that was child friendly, especially because we had the little guy in his car seat. When we arrived, the staff we're prompt in greeting us and asking about the baby, and being extremely friendly. We were then told that they would clear a table by the window on the couches as it would allow more room for the car seat so we could have the baby next to my partner. The service here is outstanding, every little thing is noticed and theres quite a lot of attention to detail. The food here is absolutely divine, had the buffalo wings as a starter as did my partner and was enjoyed by both. We both had pasta dishes for our main, both were cooked to perfection and the flavours were bursting with each bite. The interior decor of the restaurant is very modern, chic and welcoming. I'd definitely return again when visiting the area and highly recommend.

Bollywood Express
3/4 Chapel Lane row, Ballincollig, Ballincollig, Cork

The Bollywood Express in Ballincollig brings a new type of restaurant to Ballincollig. There hasn't been an Indian restaurant / takeaway in Ballincollig in about ten years, so its a fresh change that is welcomed by many. Its amazing the amount of takeaways and customers that are in and out of the restaurant each time we've visited. The interior decor of the restaurant is friendly, welcoming and modern which to be honest is a refreshing change from most restaurants which appear outdated and old. The food here is good, above average Indian cuisine, but is not the best Indian food that I have tasted, but the quality is still high and is still very tasty. Service here is exceptional; this place would be nothing without the waiting staff. The waiting staff are Ballincollig locals, who have worked in various restaurants in the town and know how to entertain and keep their customers happy. Service is prompt and always friendly with a smile and a chat. The staff really are the driving force of this restaurant. Even had the pleasure of meeting the owner on each occasion that we visited and he seems like a very friendly and welcoming person, who takes pride in his restaurant and has good rapport with his customers and staff. All in all a pleasure to dine here, food is good and service is excellent! Well worth a visit!

Tanjore Palace - Dublin
Unit 5, Block D, Tyrrelstown Plaza, Dublin 15, Tyrrelstown, Dublin

I was here on Saturday last with my partner as we were up from Cork for the weekend; and purchased a MenuPages voucher for here. Upon driving into the plaza where the restaurant is situated, I was immediately drawn to the outside of the store which was amazing! Same can be said as we entered, very modern and cozy atmosphere inside with some lovely ambient music in the background which wasn't too loud either that it distracted us. We were met by a lovely woman who seated us and took our order; when I was ordering, I did opt for my usual (Chicken Korma) however the lady who took the order recommended instead that I try butter chicken as I will not be disappointed; and boy I wasn't disappointed! The service here is definitely the key point in the establishment (along with the AMAZING food); we couldn't have been made feel more welcome by the lovely woman and the rest of her staff; who were constantly striving to make us feel welcome and comfortable! I was also wondering if I could swap one of the glasses of wine included in the deal for a soft drink as I was driving, but she turned around and gave the second glass to my partner, and gave a soft drink complimentary which was a very kind gesture! She also provided an extra Naan bread which wasn't included complimentary too. I will definitely be back when I'm next up; I think the store has found a new regular and found me a new favourite Indian restaurant in Ireland! - Patrick

Flame Restaurant
5 Henrietta Street, Waterford City, Waterford

We were travelling to Enniscorthy for a two night stay in the Monart Spa (Absolutely Fantastic!) but we were travelling late on Wednesday evening so decided to stop in Waterford for a bite to eat. The Flame straight away caught our attention from the moment we had parked the car from the corner of our eye. We approached the restaurant which looked absolutely fabulous from the outside and had a look at the menu and we were quite impressed. We entered and we were seated immediately. The decor of the inside of the restaurant is great, modern and gives a fresh US / NY style theme to the whole place. The service was great, the staff and chef were both very friendly and provided fast efficient service. The food was great, good generous portions, and reasonably priced too! All in all a good meal, and a recommended stop in Waterford if your around!

Indie Spice Grill
Burgundy House, New Street, North Co. Dublin, Swords, Dublin

Visited here on Friday after getting engaged to my Girlfriend :) We wanted somewhere nice and with great food, so after reading some reviews and reviewing their website, I decided that we would try Indie Spice. From the minute we entered until the minute we left, we were looked after constantly. The staff in here are really amazing and do take an interest in their customers, and let nothing fault them. Decor of the restaurant is lovely, modern and chic, with an Asian style about it. Food here is also very very nice, very well presented (Waiter put the plates and bowls in a circle to represent our engagement being like a circle) and the portions unlike another user has said, were not small, they were quite generous actually which is sort of unusual for an Indian restaurant. The only negative thing I have to say about here is that the price is quite high, but being the night it was and having just got engaged, the price didn't matter and I really didnt mind paying the price as the food easily made up for it and the service too. 10/10 for Indie Spice, will definitely be returning when I'm in Dublin again over the coming months, a must visit if your in Swords. - Patrick

The Man O'War Bar & Restaurant
Courtlough, Balbriggan, Balbriggan, Dublin

Just a very quick review. Was looking through menupages, trying to decide where I'm going to eat (Yes, I am very planned... My trips not for a week!) but I came across Man O War and remembered I dined hear last year and I feel that this place should have a review. Immediately after entering here, the first thing I said to myself "Ahh I'm Home." This is your traditional, homely Irish pub! Remembering times of years gone by with grandparents in West Cork and in the pubs that they used to take me to as a child, bring back very great memories! Anyway, onto Man O War.. Food here is exceptional, tasty and just simply great... Simple but great Irish menu selections to chose from and I cant fault the service either, was quick and prompt. The bar was pretty busy with the locals in for their pints, however the restaurant was very quiet and lacking atmosphere of the customers, so we decided to sit closer to the bar and listen into the general chit chat of everyone at the bar. Great place to eat if your up this area and around North Co. Dublin ! - Patrick

Burnell Bar and Grill @ Hilton Dublin Airport Hotel
Northern Cross, Malahide Rd, Coolock, Dublin

As a regular user of the Hilton Dublin Airport Hotel, I eat quite regularly in the Burnell Grill for both Dinner and Breakfast. The decor of the restaurant is very nice, floor to ceiling windows, great vibrant lighting and spacious tables. Service here is good, some of the staff can be quite, how would I put it abrupt sometimes but this can easily be overseen with the quality of service and the food here in the hotel. I will first start off with breakfast, wow this is one of the things I look forward to most would you believe it or not staying in this hotel ! You cannot compare any hotel breakfast until you have tried the hiltons! Great selection of Cold Meats, Buffet Hot Food, Cereals Galore, Different Breads, Yoghurts, Pastries and the staff will even make porridge or a full Irish if you request it! Dinner here is also great, first time eating here decided to go for the Thai curry, and was advised by my server that the chef was actually from Thailand and boy did I enjoy the curry! Have eaten here a few times since, varied the menu and have to say I wasn't dissapointed! Have also used the room service in the hotel from the Burnell Grill, its pretty standard and basic although you can order a curry up 24 hours :) Have had pizza, curry and a burger from the room service menu with no complaints! This hotel comes highly recommended as does the Burnell Bar and Grill. - Patrick

Strata Restaurant
Cork International Airport Hotel, Cork City, Cork

Was here for my nephews communion at the start of the month. Restaurant is great, decorated lovely and in line with the theme of an aircraft. Really nice touches with random articles around the hotel. Service is fast and efficient and friendly too, have no complaints about the staff whatsoever. Food is also great, we had a set menu for the communion but had a wide variety to choose from, ranging from Duck Spring Rolls to Chowder for starters and from Sirloin Beef to Salmon for mains. Food was sumptuous, delicious and served quite fast which was surprising as they also had another communion to serve too! The restaurant is so good, I have booked again for my 21st Birthday meal this coming Saturday, again have chosen from a set menu but changed some of the options! - Patrick

The Bosun
The Pier, Monkstown, Monkstown, Cork

Went here for an Evening meal with my father on Wednesday. Have been here a few times before, and the standard has always been the same. Good Food, Nice Location and Great atmosphere! Was here last year for my brothers birthday meal and a few drinks in August and thoroughly enjoyed it then and now. We've been here before this too, but dont know when off hand as its been a good few times. The only complaint that I would have with this restaurant is the staff are not really friendly, its not like they are willing to do anything you ask , however service is fast and efficient, which I suppose we cant ask for much more than that. Decor is nice, traditional pub / restaurant with a marine theme. Food is great, well presented prepared and tasty.. No complaints. - Patrick

The Blackrock Inn
Mahon Golf Course, Skehard Road, Cork City, Cork

Visit the Blackrock Inn quite regularly for Lunch as I'm working just around the corner in the office blocks in the Riverview business park. Discovered this one day a few days after starting work here when a colleague I was spending lunch with recommended we head to the Blackrock Inn around the corner. The setting of the pub is lovely, overlooking the Mahon estuary and on the doorstep of the Mahon Golf Club with gorgeous scenic views looking out over the water, and seating is available outside which makes the lunch hour even more spectacular on beautiful sunny days. The interior of the pub is that of a standard pub, carvery is offered inside on most days. The decor is pretty outdated, but in my opinion this does create a nice homely atmosphere. The staff are always friendly and will go out of their way to assist. The best example I have of this is when I was unsure of what to order for lunch and the carvery chef was allowing me to sample the food before I placed an order, and to be honest you don't see this in many places. Food is great, tasty and wholesome! Cant complain in anyway, its simply supurb. Although the pub is a bit hidden, once found, you'll never want to leave. A true gem! - Patrick

Ho Kee Chinese Take Away
7 Upper Castle Street, Tralee, Tralee, Kerry

Visited the Ho Kee today with my partner as its located in the lovely west cork town of Bandon where she is originally from. After deciding that we'd stay in Bandon for food, we were contemplating on what we should have (We only eat out twice a week so we always try to decide somewhere new / different each night) and decided that we were going to have Chinese and eventually decided on the Ho Kee. My partner had called up the restaurant last night to enquire whether they had an early bird or "high tea" menu, and was told on the telephone that they had an early bird set menu for €14.90 which includes four courses (Starter, Main, Dessert & Tea/ Coffee), at this stage I thought she had misinterpreted the information or something, or at least a spelling error! We arrived in Bandon and parked in the shopping centre car park as it was a lovely evening today and we walked to the Ho Kee. On entering the restaurant, you have to enter through the take away area, which the impression you get, to be very honest isn't great but as soon as you enter the restaurant in the back, you're blown away. Nicely decorated, nice soft music in the background and greeted by two lovely staff members who couldn't have been more accommodating to say the least. Service here is very fast, and very efficient. Not once did we feel that we had to ask for anything, or did we have to complain about anything. The two girls serving we're extremely helpful and couldnt have tried to be of any more assistance. Once the menu arrived, yep indeed my partner hadn't made a mistake or the information wasn't miscommunicated, the menu's price was as stated €14.90 for 4 courses. BY FAR the best and most reasonable early bird menu I have seen anywhere to date. Our orders were taken quickly and shortly after our starters arrived without any delay. The food here is absolutely divine, tasty and sumptuous! Nothing more can be said, portion sizes aren't small but they arent so big that you cant finish your meal!

BB's Mahon point
Mahon Point Shopping Centre, Cork City, Cork

Quite a regular visitor of most of the BB's outlets. Basically, not much more than a small cafe if your looking for a quick coffee, sandwich or pastry. Food is quite nice, can highly recommend the Panini's or Ciabattas, have not tried much else on the menu but it all does look very appetising. BB's muffins, pastries and cookies are very nice, all baked fresh in store. The reason I have deducted points for BB's in the food category, as BB's is primarily a cafe, their coffee isn't great. As a very big coffee drinker, it seems that their "Barista's" lack proper training in producing espresso beverages. The coffee is never tamped properly, well quite rarely it is and the shots of espresso are just poured out. The staff hardly ever monitor milk temperature while steaming, which is a real shame, because most of the time the milk is burnt and this takes from the flavour of a Latte or Cappuccino. Also one that is health conscious (you wouldn't think it from the amount of restaurants I visit), I have to say I like the option to have a Skinnycino or a skinny latte with Skimmed milk, as a lot of establishments are just using low fat milk instead of fat free milk, something small but quite big in my own opinion. BB's is great if you just want a quick coffee or hot chocolate and a little munch before, during or after your shop! - Patrick

Mojoe's Coffee House
Beside Cork University Hospital, Bishopstown Road, Wilton, Cork

A very regular user to MoJoe's! On first name terms with all staff here, and I have no need to even order here anymore. One of the best coffee's in Cork! There is nothing I can fault with this place. Staff here are extremely friendly and helpful and are willing to answer any questions that you may have! I have chatted for hours with their head barista about coffee. The decor of the cafe is modern, and basically just a cafe, with the oval ceiling which can be viewed as a coffee bean if you look at it closely. Food here is also quite good, the Cajun Chicken panini is to die for! General sizes too. Not to mention the bagel, its huge! Definitely filling! They also have a wide range of sandwiches, pizzas, wraps on offer too! Don't forget to try a MoJoes special when you arrive, its a flat white coffee with an extra shot! Definitely 5 stars for MoJoe's, and they're loyalty card scheme is brilliant too! 5 Stars for Everything here! - Patrick

Viaduct Inn
Old Bandon Road, Cork City, Cork

Haven't been to the Viaduct for a long long time, at least 5 years! Decided to come here with my father for Sunday lunch, as the carvery here was always great! Car park was fairly busy, as was the restaurant and the queue for the carvery was very long too, this being said it moved very quickly and we weren't waiting long. Decor of the restaurant hasn't changed much over the years, still like a traditional public house. Food is absolutely gorgeous in here, nothing to complain about. Great selection of desserts on offer too, along with soup as a starter if you wish. I just had my main meal, carvery... Turkey and Ham and it was gorgeous, and the veg was cooked to perfection too. My father had the banoffe pie as a dessert, to which I had a small taste, as I am trying to avoid sweets, after overindulging throughout the week and I have to say it was quite nice too! Always pretty cheap here too if your on a budget, so all in all highly recommended. Thanks, - Patrick

Hassetts Bakery
Main Street, Carrigaline, Cork

Decided one morning to have a bit of breakfast and a coffee here as myself and my partner have had every other meal together, but surprisingly not a breakfast (Yep, we don't live together, yet) so decided that we would have something here. Although it was something small, my partner had coffee and toast. Me being me, and having cravings for scones at times, had one of their home baked scones and toast with a latte. The food in here is actually quite nice, scones baked in store are really nice and so is the bread... But then again, you can't really go wrong with toast. Staff are always amazingly friendly, the server spilled some coffee when bringing it to us, and due to this gave a complimentary latte, which there was no need for but this shows how friendly they are and are willing to help in hassetts. I do come in here quite a bit for a coffee at the end of my walk most days, as they are serving Cork Coffee Roaster's coffee, the best in Cork! - Patrick

Amicus
Paul Street, Cork City, Cork

Visited Amicus this afternoon with my Father for some lunch. When we entered the restaurant from the outside it looked quite busy and was thinking whether we would be seated quickly or not, but as we entered the lobby we were directed to our seats relatively quickley. The atmosphere in this restaurant is great, vibrant and bustling with people from all walks of life. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, modern and elegant. We were handed the menu's and given enough time to choose what we would like. I decided to have the special that was on the board, and my father also went for a special. I had chosen the Roast Chicken where as my father had went for the Fish and Chips with Vegetable Soup and Garlic Bread for starters. Food service was prompt, but not too prompt that we were eating straight after our starters. Food was absolutely devine, generous portions of great quality food. Staff and service also rated extremely high. No complaints with Amicus whatsoever. - Patrick

Nandos Mahon Point
Mahon Point Shopping Centre, Cork City, Cork

Having awaited the opening of Nando's in Cork since mid last year after visiting the store in the Pavillions Shopping Centre, Swords; was delighted to get the news that Nando's were eventually after opening their highly anticipated store in Mahon Point shopping centre, in Cork. Was in Mahon Point last Saturday with my Niece having a look around and doing some shopping and decided we'd go in to try it and have something to eat, obviously :-). Arriving at the entrance; we were seated immediately, even though the restaurant was fairly busy, though the queues to enter were quite small, but after all it was quite early(ish). As soon as we were seated, the queues were out the door and towards the coffee shop opposite, we were lucky to get seated when we did. The atmosphere in the restaurant is quite nice, ambient and its quite a buzzing busy restaurant. The decor of the restaurant is quite like that of the Nando's in Swords, and I'm presuming this is a franchise thing, but none the less; decorated nicely, modern and clean. Having dined in Nando's before I was familiar with how the menu worked, look at the menu, decide what you would like, decide how spicy and what drinks, go to the counter and pay. Have to say, the bottomless soft drinks are great, not a fizzy drink drinker, but it was handy for my niece. Service was quite slow, we we're waiting 15+ for our food, but then again, the restaurant was very busy, but they did have quite alot of staff around the restaurant waiting. I ordered the half chicken, peri peri chips and coleslaw, and I have to say; very tasty indeed. Had it cooked with medium heat Peri Peri. My niece had the chicken burger with regular fries and quite enjoyed the meal too. All in all, a good dining experience and it makes a change from having to eat in fast food restaurants in Mahon Point, a must do if your planning on shopping in Mahon Point soon. (And also , the loyalty card is also a great idea!) - Patrick

Nandos Swords
Swords Pavilions, Swords, Dublin

Being in Dublin again with a friend; we were looking for somewhere quick to eat in Swords; and was actually thinking the day before where Nando's in Dublin actually was. We were just on our way to walk out of the pavilions shopping centre and spotted Nando's! Immediately decided to enter and have something to eat here! Seated immediately by a friend of my friend who he had went to primary school with; the rest of the staff and this particular member of staff were extremely friendly. Firstly she explained how Nando's actually work and how to order your food, with the chicken being cooked in their peri peri sauce to how you would like it, Mild, Medium and Hot. Was going to the counter to order the food, and the queue was quite long as it was a busy day. The staff member called me up to her own till, and took my order immediately which was quite nice of her, and when she had finished the order, she gave a nice 20% discount which was very friendly and nice of her! Food took about 25/30 minutes to come out, as to be honest they were quite busy; but when it did, Oh my god was it amazing! The chicken was cooked to perfection (I myself had the Chicken Wrap (medium)). The sauce they use in the wraps and i presume the burger is amazing. Had a side order of fries with my meal with the Peri Peri Seasoning, and it was very tasty. Also got a side of "Perinaise " which I'm presuming is a mixture of their peri peri sauce and mayonnaise. Service, Price and Food were great, absolutely nothing to complain about here !

Johnnie Fox's Pub
Glencullen, Dublin Mountains, Glencullen, Dublin

Decided as I was in Dublin and after hearing about this place on a radio advert in the morning; said we would take a trip out to the Dublin mountains. Just a quick review, bit of a long drive coming from the north county of Dublin, but well worth it! Situated in the lovely mountains in Glencullen, the exterior and interior decor was beautiful; old and traditional is how I would describe it. Food was exceptional, I had the frogs legs to start which were cooked to perfection with a lovely Garlic Butter sauce which was very nice. As a main I decided to have the Johnnie Fox's signature dish, the Mahi Mahi Diablo; I was quite impressed. Generous portions and it tasted very very good! Service here is also excellent and the price isn't so bad either. Great place, great atmosphere great food! - Patrick

Yuan Ming Yuan Chinese Restaurant
17 Princes Street, Cork City, Cork

Have eatin here a few times over the past few months. It was decided that we would dine here after hearing the restaurants radio advert campaign and decided to give it a try. Having heard mostly negative reviews on the restaurant that it has taken over; was a bit hesitant whether or not to try but we did any way. I have to say, the decor of the restaurant on a first note, is great.. Very oriental (Which you would expect from a chinese/oriental restaurant.) decorated with Chinese ornaments etc, and the restaurant just has a great vibe / feeling about it. The staff in this place are unbelievably friendly, and go out of their way to make sure that your every need is looked after; your water glass never goes empty, which is great. They have even remembered myself from previous visits and giving that more "personal" welcome, which adds to the visit. The food is among the best of the Chinese restaurants in Cork, if not one of the best. I would recommend going for the Szechuan Fillet Beef which is absolutley devine and the beef is cooked just right. I cannot complain about this restaurant in any way; both the staff and food are exceptional and will definately be returning within the next few weeks again and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great oriental meal in Cork! - Patrick

Unit 1, Ballisk Cresent, Donabate, Donabate, Dublin

Was in here with a Friend yesterday and I have to say that it is one of the best chinese restaurants I have been to in a long time. Not going to be a long review, as there isnt much to say about this place, it is abosultely brilliant. Food is gorgeous, restaurant is classy but oriental at the same time and the staff and service were out of this world. Everytime we were low on water, they were staight over to our talble topping us up. The only fualt, and the reason i deducted stars was for the price, but the service and food easily makes up for that! - Patrick

Indian Palace
31 Princes St., Cork, Cork City, Cork

Was walking through Princes Street yesterday evening looking for a nice meal out with my partner, as there are quite a few good restaurants in Princes Street. Having tried a few of the restaurants along the street, and pondered a few times about trying the Indian Palace but we eventually decided that we would dine here. Entering the restaurant you are met by vibrant colours of neon red and blue, and blue skylights in the ceiling, which I must admit adds a bit of class to the restaurant; continuing on about the decor it in my own opinion is great, its very ethnic with traditional indian paintings and statues and of course great indian music playing! Now, down to the service and food; which to our dissapointment was not as good as the decor of the restaurant; now the service was okay, we were seated immediately and when we had finished looking at the menu; we were served straight away also; but the attitude of the waiter wasnt very helpful or friendly. He grunted instead of answering, and spent most of the time staring at us while we were eating which is not a great experience with any restaurant, as it makes you feel very uncomfortable. The food, being very honest was bland, tasteless and not what you would expect from a restaurant, I think I could make a better Chicken Korma myself at home. There was no seasoning, well it tasted like there was no seasoning or spice at all in this dish, now I know that it is a mild dish but, at least add a bit of spice for some flavour? . The only thing really to be honest that I enjoyed about this meal was the Poppadums that were served at the start of the meal, indeed quite tasty :) It was also quite expensive, for a small little restaurant, which I wasn't impressed when I seen the bill. Overall, I wouldn't recommend the Indian Palace as a great place to dine. - Patrick

Spice Indian Cuisine
Pelican House, Main Street, Carrigaline, Cork

I am extremely unhappy with the level of professionalism shown to myself and my friends, who had travelled from Dublin to spend the weekend with us, I am absolutely appalled with the staff member "Waiter." Our problems started at the start of the meal, we were given 4 half poppadums between 4 people, and when we were finished we asked could we have some more (We would have happily paid for these) but we were told by "Waiter" that we would not eat our dinner and we should not have more poppadums, this was a very rude remark to make and undermined myself and my friends, making us look like children. To add to this we were waiting for over 30 minutes for our starters to arrive, so we were quite hungry. Not once throughout the meal were we asked whether the food was satisfactory, or whether the meal was good, if we were happy with the service however it appeared that "Waiter" was too busy trying to impress his other customers. When myself and friends had finished eating our main meal, we waited approximately 30 minutes if not more for a member of staff to clear the table for us, and still even after this time, our table wasn't cleared, we weren't asked whether we would like dessert, tea/coffee. Robbie one of the people who were in the group then walked to the front desk to speak to "Waiter" and air that we were not happy with the service provided, and that it was not right to be waiting over 30 minutes for our plates to be cleared. "Waiter" ushered us away from him and the front desk muttering the words " Sit Sit Sit, I will make you happy." What happened next I cannot believe and I am absolutely appalled with, "Waiter" approached our table and started shouting at my friends and myself because we were not happy with the service provided, he stated that "All of his customers loved him" even though, he was shouting as loud as he could (he was also shaking in anger) and all the other customers in the restaurant were looking and quite obviously felt uncomfor

Heaven Pizza
Classes Lake Retail Park, Ballincollig, Cork

Being from Ballincollig myself, I was getting a bit sick of eating from the bog standard pizza restaurants, the big chains that are already in the village. Then along with the petrol station at the side, Heaven pops up. It was a good year before I ventured in to get a takeaway, but boy am I glad I did! Walking into this place, you wouldnt think it even done takeaway. The restaurant is decorated to a very very high standard, and this just compliments to the great food that they create in here! They also have GREAT discounts on different meals, much better value than the local competition. I have not eatin in this restaurant so I cannot describe the service level inside when ordering, but they are pretty fast and friendly when ordering for a takeaway. I cannot comment on delivery either, as I have only ever collected food from here. Great pizza, great restaurant ! A1 Place ! - Patrick

Chan's Chinese Restaurant
Mill House, Douglas, Cork

Have visited here a few times, with a small and big group and I must say that this place is great. The interior could do with a bit of a doing up, but other than that its great. Friendly staff, efficiant and fast service and great food! And the "Big fish" that have been there for years, still there and still great to look at when exiting down the stairs. All in all, great place to eat. Highly recommended ! :) - Patrick

Panda Mama
14 Parnell Place, Cork City, Cork

Okay, I had previously had takeaway from Panda Mama and had noted that the food was not the greatest, didn't really enjoy it; but was in town this evening for a meal with my partner, and decided I would give the restaurant the benefit of doubt, and give it one more chance to have a sit down meal in. The restaurant is talked about so much, everybody knows Panda Mama, it has also done a lot in regards to advertising media since its opening. As stated by most reviews of this restaurant, the décor of the restaurant is magnificant. It's spacious, comfortable and vibrant but authentically chinese. We were seated quickly, even though it was very busy and to add to this it was a Saturday evening and we were without a reservation but the staff were very quick to accomodate and find us a table within a few minutes. Staff were very quick and attentive in bringing us the menu and taking our order. As you may or may not know, Panda Mama offer a very reasonable and good Early Bird Menu, €19.00 for 4 courses (Starter, Main Course, Dessert and Tea or Coffee). Food arrived quickly and the main also arrived quite fast after the starters. The food however has a downside in the restaurant, as with the takeaway that I had got from Panda Mama soon after it originally opened, was bland, plain and just boring. I had the szechuan chicken with Chips and Fried Rice. It seemed like it was just covered in chillies to make the meal more flavoursome, but even the chillies couldnt mask the plain taste of the meal. The only thing that was really enjoyable about the meal was the starters and dessert, to which we just had an ice cream bowl. I dont think however I would be returning to Panda Mama's in the near future. Although the price and service is great, the food really does let this place down big time. - Patrick

McCarthy's Bar and Bistro
Eden Hall, Model Farm Road, Bishopstown, Cork

Was in McCarthy's today 14Th January 2010; to meet an old friend whom I hadn't seen for two years. On entering the complex via the main doors I was immediately impressed by interior. Water and juices setup on a table next to the carvery for easy access. The atmosphere in here was great, it was busy, comfortable but not squashed together like some restaurants of the same kind. I didn't have a meal in here, just their Soup of the Day which was Cream of Vegetable. The food was great, big bowl which obviously means a generous portion; included with Brown soda bread. I had a Café Latte with my meal, which was a nice coffee (Being a coffee fan I thought I should comment on the coffee quality). Price wise, I wasn't happy to be honest, it cost in total for the Latte and the bowl of soup €7.00 which is pretty steep for a coffee and a bowl of soup. All in all, good restaurant , great tasting food (well the soup anyway but all other food looked great), amazing decor and a bustling atmosphere but with a costly price from what I could see. - Patrick

Radhuni Indian
East Douglas Village, Douglas, Cork

This is our favourite Indian/Oriental and Takeaway resturant in the whole of Cork city and county. Disregard anything in the previous review, as a regular customer (and when i say regular, we came here almost two-weekly) up until 2 months ago (due to other reasons we haven't been in a while.) Atmosphere and decor of Radhuni is brilliant, modern and vibrant. Staff in here are THE most friendly and helpful staff in any Indian restaurant in Ireland let alone Cork. We are on first name terms with the staff in here and the manager also, who is always friendly, and offering extras on the house. Went last week to collect a takeaway, and was offered free apetizers and a free soft drink. Food, doesnt even have to be said. Its amazing, end of. Good, healthy and sumptous Indian cuisine. - Patrick

Spice of India (Bishopstown)
Looneys Cross, Bishopstown Road, Cork, Bishopstown, Cork

Have eaten here also quiet a few times, both take-away and sit down. Restaurant as a previous reviewer has described is Narrow and Cold. The restaurant is always quiet, and doesnt really have a great atmosphere; given that the food in here is probably one of the best in Cork for Indian cuisine. Although the food in here is great, the service and atmosphere of the restaurant is very poor. - Patrick

Eastern Tandoori (Cork)
1/2 Emmet Place, Cork City, Cork

As a regular visitor of their sister restaurant "Radhuni" of East Douglas Village, we decided to try here today after over an hour of walking trying to find somewhere to eat in the mad Christmas rush of people shopping. Unlike another review I had read below, the scent while we were walking the stairs to the restaurant was pretty nice, a warm spice scent is what I could describe it as, after all we were entering an Indian restaurant! On initial arrival staff were extremley friendly, and sat us in their waiting area as they took our order, which was a first for me doing this (Even thought the restaurant was rather quiet) which to be honest was a nice addon to the experience. A member of staff who we know from the sister restaurant was also working in the Eastern Tandoori on this occasion and came over and spoke with us, as with all staff here; extremely friendly. Early bird menu here is pretty good, Starter - Main and Dessert (Tea/Coffee) for only €15, probably the most reasonable out of most of the restaurants in Cork City. My partner ordered off the Á la carte menu which was pretty steep for a chicken balti (€13.50). Food is very good, very similiar again to the sister restaurant, which I found great as it was the style of Indian food that I am used to eating. All in all, great food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere overlooking the River Lee and the Opera House / Emmet Place. - Patrick

The Golden Leaf
3 Main Street Ballincollig, Ballincollig, Cork

Have never had a "sit down" meal here, but before we moved from Ballincollig to Carrigaline we have had a few take away meals from here. Each time though, food is delivered on time, hot and delicious! Food here is great and the price is OK compared to the other chinese restaurant/take aways in Ballincollig. From others that I have known that have eaten here as a sit down meal have loved it, staff friendly, efficiant and also great food. I can only rate this restaurant myself though on the takeaway service, which is to be honest great. - Patrick

The Oak Restaurant
The Killarney Oaks Hotel, Muckross Rd, Killarney, Killarney, Kerry

Decided to go to Killarney for a Sunday drive and lunch, so we decided to head to the Killarney Oak's Hotel. Parking here is great, hotel car park was very spacious, plenty of spaces so this wasn't a problem. Trying to find a seat in the restaurant on the other hand was a nightmare. It was very very full, mostly due to a match that was being played on the televisions at the time. After eventually finding a seat, we got our menus and ordered our food. Service here is very slow, dont know if it was the fact that they were busy and because of the match, but it took a good 30 minutes for the startes to be brought out and to be honest, all that was ordered for starters was the soup of the day. Food though is good, not the best but good for the reasonable price and friendly staff (Despite being slow). I would recommend here, but not very highly. - Patrick

Joels Restaurant
Newlands Cross, Naas Road, West Dublin, Clondalkin, Dublin

Visited here while staying in the adjacent hotel "The Louis Fitzgerald." I have to say, this restaurant is highly recommended by myself and most others that have eaten here. Food is exquisite, extremely tasty too. Compliments to the chefs that were there on our visit, as it was truly a great dining experience. The experience in the restaurant was also great, very busy BUT not closely packed together either, spaced and well decorated. Vibrant, Modern and Spacious is how I could describe the interior. Truly a great restaurant, a must visit if in the Dublin 22/24 Area. - Patrick.

Gambienis
6/7 Carey's Lane, Cork City, Cork

Gambieni's, what can I say.. Top notch, excellence, exceptional? Most definate that this is one of the best restaurants in Cork, well one of the best Italian restaurants in Cork City. The food is always top quality, staff are ALWAYS helpful and very friendly, even the owner when he works in the restaurant during the day is always obliging. The atmosphere is also very good in here, restaurant is nearly always busy and the decor of the entire restaurant is modern and vibrant. They have their christmas decorations up already (27/November/2009) which adds that extra spark to the atmosphere. All in all my review of here is very positive and I would highly recommend. - Patrick.

Wah Yun Chinese Restaurant
1A Main Street, Ballincollig, Cork

Have dined here quite a bit before moving from Ballincollig, both as a takeaway and a sit down restaurant. Food is actually pretty good, staff are great really friendly and helpful although the price is quite expensive for a small chinese. The restaurant as the previous reviewer also lacks atmosphere as 9 times out of 10 the restaurant is empty or with only one or two visitors. All in all, good chinese cuisine but with a steep price.
