I have been to the Chop House three times now. The food is excellent, I especially enjoyed the hake. The menu is small enough but this keeps the quality of the food consistently good, the only drawback is that you cannot eat there too often! Staff are very friendly and the seating is comfortable. I have yet to try the lunch but will make a point of doing so in the next while. Very good house wines and good value for money.

We went here one Sunday evening, a large group of teenagers and parents. I had the homemade burger and it was one of the best burgers I have had in along time eating out. Someone else had the chocolate soup for dessert which I just tasted and it reminded me of a chocolate soup I had earlier in the year in a Michelin star restaurant in France. I am not normally a sweet tooth, but that is to die for. I look forward to a return visit.

Odessa
13 Dame Court, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

Went here last Friday night and had a wonderful meal, can recommend the Vietnamese chicken salad and the sea bass was lovely, only problem was the fillets were tiny, could have done with a little more, and I am not one for overloading a plate. The Mojito was to die for too, I will go back

The Counter Dundrum
Pembroke District, (adjacent to the Mill Pond at Town Square), Dundrum, Dublin

I went here with my son and was excited by the concept of building your own burger. We shared a bowl of chicken wings which were good. I chose a burger in a bowl and the only good thing about it was the lovely selection of lettuce leaves. The burger was bone dry and flavourless. The sauteed mushrooms had no flavour and the soy glaze topping was terrible. I resorted to ketchup and American mustard. My sons burger was also bone dry and the chips were not great quality and way too salty. Great idea but thats about all as the toppings are not very imaginative or flavoursome atall.

Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill
51 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin

I was brought here for my birthday last year and we decided to return this year and wont be returning next year! The service was excellent but the food is very average. It is so disappointing to go out for a steak and you could have cooked a nicer one at home. The prawns in the prawn cocktail were really good but they had not been deveined. When you are going to the trouble of shelling them it is so easy to twist the tip of the tail and pull the vein out in tact. Why not finish the job!! For the prices it was very dissapointing although it was nice to be able to sit outside.

Wagamama - Stephen's Green
St Stephen's Green Centre, South King St, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I have the Wagamama cookbooks which I love, and I love noodle soups. I went with 2 friends for lunch. I ordered the dumplings for a starter which were very good, but pricy enough for 5 small dumplings. two of us had the chilli chicken noodle soup, which came out in great big bowls, but was quite flavourless. I ordered a side of pickled ginger and a little square plate with the most horrific dyed pink ginger came out, which was dryed up and quite the worst pickled ginger I have ever tasted. Overall it was a very dissapointing experience, but I will try it again as maybe it was just a bad day!

India Gate
1st Floor 26b Nutgrove Shopping Centre, South Dublin, Rathfarnham, Dublin

I regularly use India Gate for a delivery service. The food is always excellent and very good value. I love their chicken saag, tender pieces of chicken breast in a garlic and spinach sauce, which I request with chiles. My son loves the Chicken Korma. The delivery always arrives piping hot and I usually have enough left over for lunch the next day. We visited the restaurant recently and the food was excellent as usual but the restaurant lacks athmosphere due to the lack of customers. However, this would not put me off as the food is excellent and they have been around for a very long time, so they are obviously doing something right. Great restaurant for a family or crowd, where you create your own athmosphere.

Brownes Deli and Cafe
18 Sandymount Green, Dublin 4, Sandymount, Dublin

This was my second time here, the first time was a Sunday brunch and the eggs were wonderful and I was very pleased, so we decided to go here for lunch after having a bad experience in a previous cafe a few minutes earlier. I ordered the pate, which was only okay. It did come with a lovely salad and plenty of toasted wholemeal bread. My friend ordered soup, which was very bland and a rare roast beef wrap with horesradish. The rare roast beef was very rare, in fact so rare you could barely see it, there was practically no stuffing in the wrap. Maybe this was because it was a special of €10 for soup and a sandwich, as looking at other wraps coming out they were much fuller. It was unfortunate that there was work going on in the building next door so that there was loud hammering through lunch. However, I will try this place again, as we could just have been unlucky this time.

Canal Bank Cafe
146 Upper Leeson Street, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Myself and my friend went here for lunch, we are both in the culinary business. On arrival, the girl asked us to take a pokey corner seat despite the place being pretty empty. We asked why we could not have a window seat and she said it was reserved, but she did let us sit in a roomier setting. Andrew ordered the steak sandwich and I ordered the chicken burger. We were told the steak sandwich would be 15 minutes. In the meantime the other guy working there is telling new arrivals they can sit anywhere including the 'reserved' seats. The food arrives and Andrews steak is not edible, it is like it was defrosted quickly and then cooked from half frozen. My chicken tasted okay, but the plate was bursting with unnesscary garnishes, (like they were trying to use everything up in the kitchen) pickled onions which were flavourless, pickles and tomato slices. The tomato garnish was not cut fresh, in fact I would say it could have been sitting for up to two days and looked as if it was on the verge of going off. Andrew complained about the steak and then two minutes later when I saw the state of the tomato I called the waiter back over, and said that even though the chicken was alright the state of the tomato on my plate was not very encouraging, so we declined his offer to change our dishes and left, to be fair they did not charge us, but we wont be back!

Carluccio's Caffe
52 Dawson Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

I brought my son here for dinner as we lived in Naples for 10 years, we were looking forward to some Italian food. I was so dissapointed, bruschetta with flavourless tomatoes, the signature pasta dish was greasy. I was surprised considering the amount of Italians working there! I wont be back
