First Floor Bar & Brasserie @ Harvey Nichols restaurant
Dundrum Town Centre, Sandyford Road, Dundrum, Dublin, Area Code:
Reviewed 30th October 2009 ( visited 24th October 2009 )I was treated to dinner here for my Birthday by my family (6 of us). And treat it was. Simple inside with great lighting to set the relaxed atmosphere. The staff and service were second to none, so professional. As for the food,as some else remarked it is art-full. The presentation is incredible and great choices, the roast Sea Bass was fab. Deserts to die for my Strawberry Parfait was made so perfect with birthday greetings written in chocolate on the plate! Yes it's pricey but worth it for a treat.

Reviewed 11th June 2008 ( visited 22nd May 2008 )Went here before a concert with three friends. What a delight. Service friendly and efficient, simple menu but good choices and food was great. Watch out for the burger...takes two to eat!! Fish was very fresh and perfectly cooked. Great atmosphere and a place I will look forward to returning too.
Les Freres Jacques
74 Dame Street, Dublin City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin
We used our Menupages Deal on Friday night here. As ever this is French fine dining at it's best. The 4 course menu was excellent. Starting with a chilled beetroot soup then toasted brioche & ratatouille full of flavour and he had Ox tongue terrine which he enjoyed. We both went for the fillet of beef with blue cheese sauce ....just divine and chocolate mousse to finish. With coffees and a very nice bottle of white wine it cost only €40 (incl service charge) along with our voucher. This is as authentic French as you can get outside of France...superb food & service.
Ristorante Rinuccini Restaurant
No 1 The Parade, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny
Thoroughly enjoyed our night here. The menu was exciting and varied and they also had specials on which I had of Haddock stuffed with spinach & carrot on a bed of roast veg, deliciously light and tasty. He had the lobster & crab ravioli with the meatballs to start while I had the antipasto starter. We couldn't help ourselves but taste each others and all was excellent. Complemented by the excellent friendly and professional service. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. A must for food lovers on a visit to Kilkenny.
Ashford House on the Weir Gastro Pub
Ashford House, Ashford, Wicklow
Honestly the Ashford House was not a place I would have thought about for a really nice meal out night but when the Menu Pages deal ame up for it I thought I'd give the new revamped Weir Restaurant a go. What a suprise! Friday night nearly full (good sign) and greeted by a very pleasant waiter who showed us to our table with menus. Such an interesting menu and such a wide range of specials. I had poached pear, Halloumi and wallnut salad and he had spicy crab cakes. Both very good, great flavour. We both had steaks my fillet was melt in the mouth and he said the serlion was also very good. Homemade desserts (but couldn't finish my bonoffe too much!) Two things stood out the service, so nice to see polite happy and helpful staff and the range of choices was excellant. Already looking forward to my next visit. Well Done The Weir.

I felt I really had to write a review after ready the previous ones. Jausna has been a favourite of mine for a long time and I eat in or have a takeaway at least once a fortnight. I have always found the staff to be most pleasant and friendly. I do admit it can be quiet and maybe lacking a little atmosphere but I have never had a bad meal from there. We would normally have the Balti, Bhuna or Curry with chicken or beef with rice and nans. They have reduced they're prices over the past few months and I find it good value. I can say I have never left feeling let down. And very often the owner would offer a complimentary drink with our bill a nice touch I think. I'll be back.
Market Square, Wicklow Town, Wicklow
Went on Saturday night with one of the girls. It wasn't too busy (which was a shame) but the staff were nice and pleasant. We hadn't booked but got a table no problem. I went for the tapas menu which has a great choice and my friend had a steak. The goats cheese bruschetta I had was very tasty but my fish cakes were a little bland. The sharing plate of dips and breads was a great starter. Good value for money.
Laragh, Glendalough, Wicklow
My partner suggested we go here on Friday evening for a change. It had been probably 2 years since we had been before. For a start it was great to see a place so busy (glad we booked!) which made for a nice atmosphere. Very pleasant and efficient staff. Great choice on the menus (main menu & a specials menu) something for everyones taste. I had the confit of duck with black pudding which strangley worked very well and I really enjoyed it. He had the fish cakes also good. My sea trout was cooked beautifully and his steak kept him quiet for a while!. Too full for desert. Really enjoyed the whole night and won't leave it so long for our next visit.
Las Rada Wine and Tapas Bar
New Row, Newbridge Road, Naas, Kildare
This was our 2nd visit and I'm already planing my next! The perfect place for a cosy night for 2 downstairs or for a large party upstairs. My man is a meat and 2 veg kinda guy but really enjoys this Tapas treat (and the great German Beer). The food is imaginative and a refreshing change. With the tapas portions it gives you a chance to try things you wouldn't normally try and we weren't disappointed in any of our 10 choices between us! It's so hard to stop ordering. But the real treat is the Martini deserts Lemon sorbet prosecco and vodka.....incredible and so different. The welcome, the service and the food make this little gem really worth the trip.
The Box Tree
Stepaside Village, South Dublin, Stepaside, Dublin
4 of us went to dinner here last night and despite the previous reviews we thought we'd give it a go. I have to say I was very supprised. We were greeted by a very helpfull and pleasant member of staff and shown our table. Menus came with suggested specials, homemade breads and drinks orders. We all opted for the Early Bird menu @ €19.95 with €5 supplement for the Rib Eye steaks. All the starters we had were very well presented and tasted great. I had the Fish special on a bed of rissotto just perfect (although veg was extra) and the others all had the rib eye. 2 thought it was lovely and 1 thought it was just ok. We decided to go for deserts and coffees. Excellant coffee and homemade icecream and sorbet went down well. The Apple & blueberry crumble I believe was very good too. So 4 early birds with 3 supplements 3 extra deserts coffees bottle of Pinot Grigio and water came to €151. Not a cheap night out but food was excellant and we found the staff most professional and pleasant and it was a busy night. We'll be back.
The Tap (Inactive), Kilbride Street, Ashford, Wicklow
The 2 of us went on Friday night for dinner. The place was beautifully decorated with lots of festive fairy lights and cosy and warm. Such a nice alternative for a night out together. The bruschetta tasting plate for two (6 pieces) was just perfect size for starter and very tasty. I had the Lemon Sole and he had the Lamb. Both were well presented and cooked just perfect. We shared a Chocolate pecan pie mmmmmm nice! With 2 glass of house wine and 3 bottles of beer it came to €85. I think this was good value for a lovely night. Nearly forgot to mention the waiting staff who were lovely. We'll be back.
South Quay, Wicklow Town, Wicklow Town, Wicklow
Great place to pop into. Staff friendly and helpful but the best thing is the early bird menu. Soup, starter and main course for €15:95 fantastic value. Plenty of choice on this menu and rice included. Really very fond of this place any evening of the week.Crispy Chicken and Teriyaki Beef really good. If they included a Vegetarian section on the menus it would be great because after asking what they had my friend's meal was excellent but shame she had to ask rather than browse the menu. Only minor downside to that night!
Mauzac Tapas Bar - Closed
Church Road, Greystones, Wicklow
Went on Wednesday evening with two friends for a girls night. What a great place. Decor smart, polished dark wood floors and nice lighting set the mood for the night. Enough people there to create an atmosphere without being full. The food was good with plenty of choice. We got approx 10 tapas between us, spread out over the evening (about 3 hours!). So nice to be able to graze through the food and keep chatting away while enjoying your wine. The Carpaccico is a must try, melt in the mouth. This has a real 'Tapas Bar' feel to it, go with good friends for a night out, enjoy the food with it being the centre of the night. The staff were very nice & efficient but not 'in your face'. And so nice to be told by staff 'don't worry there's no rush'. Approx 10 tapas, 1 desert, coffees & a bottle of wine with tip €100, we'll be back!
Ristorante Morsiani - Closed
1 Fitzwilliam Square, Wicklow Town, Wicklow
I rang on Saturday evening and they were booked out till late (good sign I'm thinking!) but said we would drop in about 9pm to see and thankfully there was a couple just leaving. The smell of fab food hits you when you get up the stairs to a nice warm room. The menu has plenty on it and very good for their Vegie options. The starters are a lovely change from the norm and very tasty without being too big. The pasta dish was soooo tasty and light (for Italian Pasta thats a first for me!). The steak was good but the sauce was a bit strong for my partner. He should have got it on the side. Finished with nice wine and French Coffee. All staff very effecient and plesant. A really enjoyable evening. We'll be back.
Sandyford Road, Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin
Bit disappointing to be honest. Bugers were small and the chips weren't great. Peri peri makes the chicken alright but a complete lack of imagination in the menu. It's not expensive but you get what you pay for! Won't be rushing back :-(
Corkscrew Restaurant Wine and Café Bar
McDermott Street, Gorey, Co Wexford, Gorey, Wexford
We went here for a friends birthday after reading the reviews on this page and to be honest I was disappointed. Downstairs it is lovely for a glass of wine and a nibble but I found upstairs badly lit and sparse with no atmosphere. The menu is very basic and the food average, it wasn't not bad but not special either. The staff and service were very good. If in Gorey again I would drop in for a glass of wine but won't be driving 30 miles again for dinner!

Halpin's Bridge Cafe
Bridge Street, Wicklow Town, Wicklow
I have lunch here a couple of times a week. Always a pleasure. The Manager / Owner (I think he is) is always there and welcomes you with a friendly smile and chat (makes a change in the coffee shops in Wicklow) no matter how busy. The specials always change and are good. The homemade soup always great, Sweet Potato today especially good! Also the tuna and relish panini very good. Keep it up!
La Mere Zou
22 St Stephens Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin
Had the Early Bird with a friend before a concert last evening. Great value and food as good as ever. Great choice on the Menu for an Early Bird and excellant sevice. Such a little gem of a place.
The Duck Terrace@Marlfield House
Marlfield House Hotel & Restaurant, Courtown Road R742, Gorey, Gorey, Wexford
My partner booked a supprise dinner for us in Marlfield House and what a supprise it was. This was the most delightfull eveing I have had in a long time. From the greeting, tru the service the wonderfull food and down to the coffee and pettie fours in the relaxing drawing room after. It was expensive but worth every penny. A real special treat.
Roly Saul The Restaurant
The Mill House, Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin
Five of us went on Saturday night and we all were delighted with it. Considering they were full the level of service was excellant, very professional and polite. The menu had some nice twists to simple but tasty food. I had Hake wrapped around black pudding with a drissle of sauce to compilment but not drown the tastes. From starters to deserts there was something for everyone including the vegetarian in our group. Delighted to have such a treat without having to go into the city.
The Old Candle
Main Street, Newcastle, Co Wicklow, Newcastle, Wicklow
4 of us went for the first time on Saturday night. We had heard mixed reviews but I'm glad we tried it ourselves. What a lovely place. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and professional. The food was simple but so well done. I had pate to start so good and a special of trio of fish that was simply cooked with roast veg as side. Desserts had to be tried and didn't disappoint. It is expensive but worth it to treat yourself. We'll be back for sure.
71-72 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
First time here, a supprise birthday party. What a great place and on a Tuesday night a good atmosphere with a nearly full room. Staff were friendly and helpfull explaining any dishes. Food was great and what a range of food on offer. Something to suit everyone. I'm hooked will be back and soon.
3-4 Bridge Street, Arklow, Co. Wicklow, Arklow, Wicklow
We tried this on a Friday evening before the cinema. There was very few people in but I guess it was early 7pm which took from the atmosphere but it did mean we got great service! Very pleasant waiter, friendly and helpful. And the food was great. Great choice on the menu. I tried the salmon in filo, moist fish and crispy filo and tangy sauce. My friend had the monk fish and seemed to enjoy it too. Starters were tasty (maybe a little big!) and couldn't help ourselves with desert which topped of a lovely meal. 3 courses for 2 people of good food and a nice bottle of wine for approx €100 is good value to me.

Went here before a concert with three friends. What a delight. Service friendly and efficient, simple menu but good choices and food was great. Watch out for the burger...takes two to eat!! Fish was very fresh and perfectly cooked. Great atmosphere and a place I will look forward to returning too.
Church st, Wicklow Town, Wicklow Town, Wicklow
We tried out The Bakery on Saturday night with another couple and found it lovely. To be very critical the service was a bit slow but there was a lot of people sitting down to eat all night. The food was worth waiting for and the staff were great, friendly and pleasant. Everything overseen by the owner who made you feel very welcome. All in all a nice place to go for good food and great atmosphere.
Brittas Bay, Brittas Bay, Wicklow
Always liked McDaniels in the past to drop in to after a walk but seems a lot of changes this year. There was no atmosphere, no friendly welcome and very quiet such a shame. The food was good bar food. Well presented and good value but we didn't stay on after food due to lack of atmosphere and interaction with staff.
Wynne's Café Bar @ The Grand Hotel
Abbey Street, Wicklow Town, Wicklow Town, Wicklow
We have visited the Grand Hotel to eat a few times and it was just ok. Last month we heard there had been changes and decided to try it again. The service was very slow and staff seemed not interested. The food was just ok but the whole experience was bad. Given it every chance at different times i.e. lunch and evening but all in all it's not somewhere we will be going back to.
Jamuna Indian Restaurant (wicklow)
1 Lower Mall Wicklow Wicklow, Wicklow Town, Wicklow
My boyfriend and I drop in on Saturday evening for a quick bite. Hadn't been here in a while and forget how nice it was. Not just the food, lovely warm welcome and great service without being over powering. Our shared starter (because main courses always quiet large) Onion Bhajee was just right and my Balti Chicken was full of flavour without being hot and my partner enjoyed his Bhuna Beef. Nan bread rounded it off nicely. Couldn't fit in desert but the complementary Sambuca was a lovely finish to the night. We won't leave it so long next time.
Market Square, Wicklow Town, Wicklow
As the name suggests the steak is the thing to go for. It is without doubt the best steak around. I love the fresh fish specials they have on and really enjoyed my Hake. Our starters of black pudding and the salmon mayonaise where great, tastey without being too much. Finished off with Irish Coffees. Perfect place for a lovely night out together.
