Ate in the bar on this occasion, excellent choice on the menu at very good prices. The bar is a little cold/empty compared with the restaurant, but it was midweek in December. I have never had bad food or service here, and the new €25 value menu is hard beaten. Happy Customers

Caesars
Main Street, Enfield, Meath

I have eaten here about once a month since thsi restaurant opened in 2008. The owner and staff are friendly. The food is excellent. The wings and the salmon starters are my favourite. The lasagne main course is delicious, as are the pizzas. Both very generous portions. BYOB with no corkage so a very affordable night out with excellent food and friendly service. It's getting so busy now that I have to reserve a table for a Friday or Saturday night. Looking forward to my next trip already.

Ilia Restaurant
Dominick Street, Mullingar, Westmeath

This was my second time to visit. We had the €25 early bird on each occasion. Starters on each occasion were brie & croquettes. Both very good and well presented. Mins were organinc burger, blossom, roast chicken. The burger on each occasion was excellant and a very generous serving. The blossum was really well cooked and presented. The chicken was good, but I'll be going back to the blossom on the next trip. The house white was OK and served at a good temperature. Dessert. Lemon tart was very sweet but tangy and served with a twist. White choc mouse...wow, the poached pear was not a big hit with himself, but the lemon tart on the 2nd trip was more to his liking. We had a gift voucher which we used 50% of on our 1st visit and the remainder on the 2nd trip. There was no problem with the voucher being accecpted, and on the 2nd trip it was over 6 months old. I'm looking forward to our next visit. Great service, nice decor, friendly, proffesional staff. Great pub across the road too :-))

Avoca Bar & Restaurant
Carysfort Avenue, Blackrock, Dublin

Visited on Saturday afternoon, had a quite drink in the bar which was spotless with a few regulars watching sport. We moved next door to the lounge/restaurant and ordered from the early bird - 2 courses for €14.95. Ceaser salad & wings for starters, both well received. Mains - Pasta dish of the day"Italian Chicken with Mustard". The pasta was a little undercooked for my taste and the sauce was very strong, with a sparse amount of chicken. Himself had the burger, salad & chips. The chips were really good, and the burger also went down a treat. There were quite a few couples eating there, all being served by one waitress who was efficient. Good value for the price. If I'm back in the area I would go again.

Lees Oriental Restaurant
The Coachyard, Enfield, Meath

Warm, friendly, busy restaurant. Chicken satay skewers were fb, followed by the Fillet of Seabss, which is de-headed and boned tableside. Lots of flavour, and excellently cooked. A little onthe expensive side for Chinese food, esp the wine list, but very good service. Looking forward to going back

Tyrrellspass Castle Restaurant
Main Street, Tyrellspass, Westmeath

This is great place to get a satisfying dinner on the run. I usually have the salmon, which is plentiful, with potatoes and veg. Service is prompt but basic, mainly shcool gilrs and boys working part-time. Ticks all my boxes for lunch/dinner on the run. Hearty, healty, clean, quick, parking, and good value - what more could you ask for. It wouldn't be somewhere for a romantic dinner, or gathering with friends or family for a night out though.....in my opinion.

Pasta Bella
54 Austin Friar Street, Mullingar, Westmeath

We had no reservation, but dropped in at 6:30 on a Sat evening, booekd a table for 7:15. When we came back, we were put upstairs in the back, literally at the toilet door. Staff were slow to take our order. THe starteres took ages to arrive and tasted like they had been reheated. No water brought to the table until the 3rd request. The chicken I had for main was very tough, and the other halfs reliable Lasagne was tough and dry. I was going to order dessert, but by the time someone came back to take our order I just wanted to leave. Lifes too short to waste your time in establishment that doesn't want your custom. Got the bill, eventually, which was way more than we have paid at other Italian restaurants in the town. No tip from us, but if you are reading this. You should look after tables of 2 just as you would large groups. We won't be back.

Mizzoni Italian Restaurant
28 Dominick Street, Mullingar, Westmeath

This was my 2nd visit. The 1st was more sucessful. We had not booked and arived at 7:40, we were seated, but they did tell us that they were booked fully for 9pm. We took our seats, ordered and received our starter at 8:10. Our main course came eventually at 8:45. Lots of other tables were waiting eqully as long. The staff apologised repeatedly for the delay, but obviously it was a problem in the kitchen. The brushetta and mushroom starter were excellent. I had chicken for main with a delicious sauce, while himself had the Lasagne which was also very good. Excellent value wine menu with good selection, but I didn't sample on the night. I will return, but hopefully the srvice will be quicker next time.

Street Side Cafe
Main Street Enfield, Enfield, Meath

I did visit this cafe regulary, but only go there on occasion now - when I absolutley have to. The staff are very hit & miss. The management are never pleasant. My colleagues & I ate there on a daily basis over a period of 3-4 months, but it was still a rarity for the manageress to give us a smile - considering she is the owner I wonder how some of the staff manage a smile at all! The food is consistant. Service is prompt - if not sometimes abrubt. The bacon tends to be very greasy. Lunch menu is better than breakfast. A little overpriced for a cafe in a rural village.

The Bridge House
Enfield, Enfield, Meath

I first had lunch here about 6 years ago. I have to say eating in this bar is a great experience. It's an old style hostlery, cosy, warm & friendly. The menu never seems to change apart from the daily special which is usually quite traditional "Bacon & Cabbage" the last time I was in. I dined in the restaurant only once. It's a room situated adjacant to the bar area with bar tables & kitchen chairs - not the most comfortable or lavish but this is reflected in the price. The main thing is the quality of the food & service. Always gets my vote when I'm on this stretch of road and want something quick & tasty. A working lunch.

Chilli Shaker Indian Restaurant
River Mall, 32-36 Main Street, North Co. Dublin, Swords, Dublin

Visited for our 1st wedding anniversary. Prebooked via their website - but they never sent any confirmation so I ended up phoning them a couple of days before. Very cosy restaurant if not a little cramped. We had the platter for starter - it arrived very promptly but was delicious. Main course was a lot slower too arrive but this gave us time to enjoy the fab house white, which was priced well. The chicken sag was very tasty as was the tikka masala. Delicious garlic naan too. Didn't have dessert. The bill took it's time getting to our table - had to ask twice for it. All in all I would return. The terrace was nice for enjoying a cigarette with coffee.

Vanilla Pod Restaurant
Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells, Meath

I had heard great things about the food here - but was disappointed. I was in a group of 20 staying @ the Hotel & dinner was included in our package. The choice of starters on the set menu was poor. I opted for the chicken strips which tasted as if they had gone from the freezer to the fryer with no input from a chef along the way. My steak was over done - I asked for med/rare. This I think was down to the service staff. The wine list was good & well priced. I will try this restaurant again someday but with a smaller party & not the set menu.
