Seems like a very popular restaurant, tried getting a table on the Friday and it was booked out. We were only two nights in Westport but it looked and smelled so delicious we decided to book for the Saturday. The food is fab, my husband ordered prawns with chilli and garlic for starter and I had garlic bread and we both shared which was more than enough as they brought out some breads and a dip while we waited. For mains we had pan fried fillet of chicken in a bacon, white wine and tomato sauce & I had crab with homemade fettuccine in a chili and garlic white wine sauce, very generous amounts of crab. Lemon cheesecake to finish. Overall great service, maybe if being picky a little too quick. Lovely atmosphere small and quirky but it works. Price was a little high compared to a lot of Italian restaurants I've visited but not through the roof and this is no bog standard pizza menu. Really thought it was lovely and would definitely return if ever in Westport again. Would recommend booking...enjoy!!

The food is very edible but you would expect more for your money even as a reasonable priced restaurant. Service was terrible on this occasion, wasnt sure who our server was, forgot to bring us water, empty bowl for our son. NO one was taking the empty glasses off our table, even had to move our plates to another table as they were sitting in front of us so long with people walking by constantly ignoring them. Waiting a long time on our mains. We are regular customers but will give this a long break before we consider returning. Wouldnt recommend!

Toscana (Dun Laoghaire)
5 Windsor Terrace, South Co. Dublin , Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

Having visited Toscana in City centre many years ago and loving it we decided to give this place a go. The restuarant is situated right across from the sea with parking straight in front of it. The restaurant is lovely but I did find myself cold as the front doors were left open, It was a fairly calm evening but still the cold was coming in and we were seated at the back downstairs. First as it was a birthday dinner we thought we'd try the fanciest options. I went for Prawns specially because it was low fat and my husband had the crabs claws. My prawns tasted low fat, very boring, very little flavor and about 5 fairly small prawns which for a 10euro starter was poor in my opinion. My husband had crab claws which neither of us usually order so its hard to say if they were good or bad but again not much flavor and certainly wouldn't want to have them again at a price of 13euro. My low score for value is mostly down to the expensive starters we ate which we both shared and neither of which tasted great. I had a shellfish linguine for mains, it was ok, tasted better than the starter but that wasn't hard, found the calamari chewy but I finished my dinner because I was ravenous at the stage. My husband had Pollo alla Toscana , chichen in a cheese sauce and he said it was lovely. We shared a dessert of blackberry and apple crumble which was quite small even for one and the crumble was more mushy than crisp. Overall the food was quite edible but I have been to better value and tastier Italians. The reason the star value is high is because the staff were very helpful, the service was excellent although a bit too quick but I cant mark it down for that. It wasn't awful but not for us and I would not be returning, may however try Toscana in town again. Shame cause such a nice location.

The Blue Wave Restaurant @ Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel
The Quay, Westport, Mayo

We had a meal included in our break staying at the hotel so hard to comment on value. When we read the menu I wasn't very excited limited options but to say I was very pleasantly surprised is an understatement. I had ribs for starter which we beautiful and my husband had chicken Caesar salad which he said was ok but that's only because my ribs were just so tasty. For mains we had steak and I took a gamble on baked monkfish in a tikka marinade on a bed of coconut Dahl ( wasn't really sure what this was but it turned out to be lentils) fabulous dish. Desserts were lovely but not outstanding. While staying we also ate in the bar which had great service, good food and decent value for money. Breakfast there was best I've had in years in a hotel. The restaurant didn't seem busy and I would say mostly only hotel guests, it's on the 4th floor away from passing trade but has tremendous views whereas the bar seemed to be very busy for food all day. One thing I would say is the staff seem very happy which rubs off on the customer, nice to see for a change in a hotel.

Roast
10a Merrion Rd, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Have to say very disappointed in our visit here, maybe we had set the bar a little too high thinking of our amuse bouche, something I have only been offered 3 times before. We has a fois gras pate, which I thought was very overpowering and not to my taste buds at all, 2 of the 4 did eat though. The mains 3 of us ordered steak and 3 were undercooked, well done came out medium and the two medium came out rare. I thought my fish was undercooked and the skin was not crisp as I would have expected, The waitor did bring it back but I was not really comfortable sending it back. All mains were eaten but none of us were overly impressed. The pre dessert was tasty but Its my standards are pretty low when it comes to anything sweet. The dessert course we had chocolate fondant which was perfect and apple tart which got fabulous reviews on our table. Over all the service was excellent but we nor the couple we were with will revisit again. We used a menupages deal which cushioned the fact that it was just ok!

Rolys Bistro
7 Ballsbridge Terrace, Dublin, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Having visited this restaurant on many occasions my husband and I jumped at the chance to buy a discounted voucher for a 3 course meal. Booking was fine as we booked for 3 weeks after we purchased and this was a Monday evening. I found the options not as good as what we would be used to there normally. My husband had the caeser salad and I had chicken wantons for starters both delicious although the wantons was 3 tiny ones helped by a serving of their tasty house made bread. Mains we had stuffed chicken and salmon, I was slightly disappointed in the salmon, it did not deliver as most courses would in Roly's. Couldn't put my finger on what was wrong but something was lacking. The sides of pototos was tiny for two but they did oblige and bring us an extra portion. Service was a little two fast and rushed along that we had little time to settle one course and another had arrived, suppose not the worst complaint. Dessert was strawberry merangue with passion fruit. My husband thought the passion fruit puree was too much and too sweet however I liked it for this exact reason. Have loved this place for years now and I'd be giving it a little break but not giving up on it altogether. Still a firm favourite!

Boulevard Cafe
27 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Bought a discounted voucher online and used this last night. My husband read a bad review and was dreading the visit but thankfully didn't mention this till after our first course was over. I had prawns for starter and was delighted prawns were generous in size, very tasty and fresh from what I could tell would have liked maybe one or two more. My husband had bruschetta which looked slightly disappointing but was very good in flavors. Mains we had supreme chicken and I had the chefs special of pan fried cod. Both were served similar on a bed of mash, not being a lover of mash we ordered a portion of chips and these were' to die for' chips really tasty. Couldn't say much about either main they were good. Dessert was raspberry crumble and Baileys cheesecake, Yum but we are easily pleased with cakes.Service was good but it was Monday night after all so it should be anywhere. My only problem with service was I mentioned to the waiter I was off chocolate and my dessert came out drizzled in it..I still managed to eat it but my job could have been made easier if he listened. Overall the meal was delicious and I would go again but I would be reluctant to pay full price as I think there is much better value out there!

Kudos (Liffey Valley)
Clarion Hotel, Dublin 22, Liffey Valley, Dublin

THis is quite a busy hotel which keeps a warm atmosphere in the bar where Kudos is. THe food is excellent, just as good as any of the top Asian restaurants around Dublin. I did eat in another Kudos( sligo) and was extremely disappointed so defo not the same standards in them all. Service is good but can depend on the night.

Luigi Malones Restaurant
5/6 Cecilia Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

We went on a Monday and still a nice little buzz in the restaurant. The waiter was very helpful when I went to order a glass of wine told me about offers available and how to get best value which I did. Have been here three times now and each time food was cooked very well and very tasty. The portains are very generous and we certainly left very happy and would be back again.

Lemongrass (Liffey Valley)
Arc Bar, Liffey Valley Centre, West Dublin, Lucan, Dublin

Ate here a lot up until recently when they changed the menu! Very disappointed as a lot of our favourites were removed. Food was lovely still and they'd probably try accommodate but would rather not be the awkward customer every time. Bring back the old menu.
