I have eaten here a couple of times, each time the pub was empty making the atmosphere non existent. The staff are very friendly which does make up for it a little. I felt the menu was over ambitious for pub grub especially considering the food did not rise to the occasion. I would not be in a hurry to return.

Bullys Restaurant - CLOSED
40 Paul Street Cork, Cork City, Cork

Very disappointed with the food. Felt that it was just thrown together. Very odd combinations also. Service was very friendly and atmosphere was good but the early bird menu was not exactly cheap considering the standard. Would only be recommended for a quick bite.

Augustines
Closed, Cork City, Cork

Great value for so many courses in the tasting menu. However I felt that the food was slightly unimaginative. I was trying the tasting menu to decide whether or not to use Augustines for a private function but I was a but disappointed. Desert consisted of 3 bites but all contained lemon. And sides with main dishes were unusual. Nice restaurant for a romantic night out but certainly wont suit everyone.

Les Gourmandises
17 Cook Street, Cork City, Cork

So disappointing. I had read so much about this restaurant. The descriptions of the food and the numerous qualifications of the staff drew me in. Unfortunately I found this restaurant all round disappointing and certainly didnt live up to its percieved reputation. Prices are high, portions and pretentiously tiny and the food is only OK. It prides itself on being a french restaurant with staff trips to france etc, however there were italien dishes on the menu!!. Also they are way over staffed. I visited on a saturday night and there were only two tables and 4 waitresses who needless to stay were simply standing staring at the tables...very uncomfortable. I would not recommend this place if you're hungry...not good enough in a recession.

Star Anise
4 Bridge Street, Cork City, Cork

Dreadful. I would never return after my evening here. I booked for a group of 6 and we were given a table for 4 by the door. We were served by different people for each course and It felt like we were being an inconvienience. Also I very much disagree with the owners adding money to the bill for charity (it is optional as in you can ask for it to be taken off) but i think this is backwards. One should not be asked to donate to charity after a meal.

Cornstore
40 Cornmarket Street, Cork City, Cork

Fantastic value. The food is great and so is the atmosphere. I feel like they do not loose quality when they serve the early bird. I would recommend it to anyone. Very pleased with our dinner for only 25.00 great portions and really delicious.

Luigi Malones (Cork)
1-2 Emmet Place, Cork City, Cork

There are so many great restaurants in cork but this is not one of them. It used to be great but has lost alot in quality and I dont feel it has adapted well in the recession, its still very expensive and the dining room is so large it feels like an average hotel. I was not impressed

Scoozi!
2-5 Winthrop Lane, Winthrop Street, Cork, Cork City, Cork

brill service, always reliable for quick food to fill you. was in the other day and had lovely chicken. nice for lunch.

Captain America's Cookhouse and Bar (Cork)
4/5 South Main Street, Cork, Cork City, Cork

It does what its supposed to. The service is always rubbish and the food is only mediocre but it is filling and cheap. Try the cajun chicken burger, the sauce is yum. Desserts are a bit expensive but their offers are excellent for lunch etc. Def worth a try after a long day shopping

Cafe Mexicana
Careys Lane, Cork City, Cork

I really dont get this place. Ive been for both dinner and lunch and while the food is ok its certainly not the best Ive tasted, this is not reflected in the prices or the lack of specials on offer. Also the decor would not sooth a hang over, its a bit tacky. However, I will continue to go back as they have the best dessert ever, a pancake with Ice cream and chocolate sauce....try it!!

Milano (Cork)

Great lunch time specials. Best pizza's not great for anything else. Wouldnt be somewhere Id go for a nice dinner out but certainly a great spot for lunch and a glass of wine!!

Campagne
5 The Arches, Gashouse Lane, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny

The food is amazing however quite pricey unless your going for an early bird etc. I would def go back for every special occasion in the future but it wouldnt be a weekend haunt. Service very professional the only downfall is that I felt I was sitting on top of the people beside me, certainly could have joined in on their conversation...

La Rivista

Great value, mediocre food but the staff made up for it. Wouldnt be my number one choice but its good for a reasonable meal.

Annie's Bar & Restaurant
89 Sunday's Well Road, Cork City, Cork

Abysmal. I cannot understand other reviews. I really didnt like this place. We had nice bread and oil to start unfortunately this was the highlight. There were only two tables eating the rest were drinking...not a great atmosphere when your paying through the nose for food. When the food came it was cold. The people sitting next to us had to send food back twice! Unimpressed by the desserts.Food was mediocre while prices were unique! I wont be returning. Not the kind of prices we need in a recession.

Wagamama (Cork)
4/5 South Main St, Co City, Cork City, Cork

Im not sure if I get this place. Food seems to all taste the same and the place is uncomfortable. I dont think its for me. Service cannot be faulted and food certainly is a pleasant change from the norm but Its always so noisy and I feel as though im sitting on top of the people beside me..very cramped.

I ve been here a few times and food is always good, especially salads. However service is very slow and the place is way over priced.

Four Liars Bistro
The Butter Exchange, Shandon, Cork City, Cork

Oh My God!!! I had dinner there this evening. Could not get out of there quick enough. The place was empty when we arrived. Dark and dingy. Food was mediocre, main course food had not been cooked fresh. The main problem was staff? way over friendly. This made for a very uncomfortable night. I would never go back here again even though I had a voucher which meant a cheap meal....

profile_review

Amicus
Paul Street, Cork City, Cork

Cheap and cheerful. Amicus is what it is really, I wasnt blown away by the food but it was ok, came out quickly and filled the gap. Not the kind of place one can sit around talking and mulling over a glass of wine. But quite effective if you want a quick convenient lunch.

Hardwood Restaurant
31 Popes Quay, Cork City, Cork

I was so disappointed. I was a huge fan of this place but I went for an early bird last week and there were so many little things changed. I felt that the portions were much smaller and there was no free wine or soft drink. I got the fish and was only given 1 fillet which was small. Our waiter was not very good and there was another member of staff or friend eating there at the time and the staff just paid attention to her and were going in and out of the kitchen messing with her. I thought it was very inprofesstional and not really consistent with my other experiences with Hardwood. I hope things dont stay this way.

Brannigans Cork - Closed
Mahon Point Shopping Centre Mahon, Cork City, Cork

I went here one evening before the cinema, as its the only decent place in Mahon point without getting take out. The food is way over priced for what it is. The decor is nice but unfortunately the place was dead and staff were standing around chatting. I would not pay the prices being asked for this kind of food and atmosphere. It ll be fast food for me from now on.!!

Greenes Restaurant @ Hotel Isaacs
48 MacCurtain Street, By the Waterfall, Cobbled Courtyard Close, Cork City, Cork

I went here with my boyfriend for the early bird menu. It was very good value in terms of food. unfortunately when we arrived on time for our booking our table was not ready. We were put sitting on a table which was very squashed against the wall, so much so that my chair was actually moved out into the aisle to make room. The waterfall feature was under construction which was a ptiy as that is very pretty. we were looking right onto the construction work which was very messy. The food was excellent, not the best ive ever had there but certainly value for money. I would go back for another early bird. not so sure if id push the boat out for the a la carte though!!
