Fota Restaurant @ Fota Island Resort
Fota Island Resort, Fota Island, Cobh, Cork

Dined here as part of a weekend package at fota Island. When we arrive at the restaurant, the place was empty at 7.30pm and we had to go to the bar to find a waitress even though we had made reservations earlier that day. The menu seemed to have a limited choice available and we were'nt overly excited about our food.. We waited for what seemed like ages for our bread to arrive by then we were starving! Overall the food was lovely but i expected more coming from a 5* hotel.. nice atmosphere with candles lit and soft music in the background.

Eleven West Restaurant
11 West Beach, Cobh, Cork

Dined here lat night for a special occasion. the food was delicious especially the clonakilty black pudding as a starter with mushroom and bacon( although we couldnt find any bacon!) My bf had duck as a main which was tender on the bone, I had texas refried beans with jack daniel sauce and sirloin and onion rings( there was no sauce unless it was in the steak?) However i'd recommend this dish! We were surprised that our waitress didnt know what the side order of veg was and another query about a starter course and twice she had to check in the kitchen.. not very professional.. Dessert menu had a great selection of yummy choices! Clean and nicely decorated interior.. will definitely come back

The Mint Leaf (Dunboyne)
Summerhill Road, Dunboyne, Meath

This restaurant has changed its name to Mintleaf but with the same management and newly decorated interior. We really enjoyed the food here and would definately come back again! The place was packed full and a real buzz in the air.. the only fault we found was the very slow service, approx 45min between our starter and main course! However the staff were very apologetic and they seemed understaffed that night.. but their service came with a cheerful face. Do book in advance!

Cedar's Grill at Lough Eske Castle
Lough Eske, Donegal Town, Donegal

we stayed here for the weekend and sampled the food in The Cedars Restaurant. I must say we truely enjoyed our food here, the crab salad for starter was delicious followed by the surf and turf! best steak i've had in a long time. Although the portions looked small, put it theis way, we couldnt move from the table we were that stuffed! lots of friendly attention from the staff and plenty of bread given to us! would definately love to come back! only sore point was the price of the meal.. but we felt it was earned!

The Forge Restaurant
Potteragh, Carnaross, Kells, Meath

a group of us dined here on saturday, the salmon and crab was delicious as a starter, i had the goats cheese and carmalised onion, the pastry was a bit too sweet and the onion was a bit sickening for my liking.the prawn starter also was very popular! our main courses consisted of steaks and lamb, the portions were huge and the quality of the meats was outstanding! we all enjoyed our main courses. we guzzled down beautiful red wine recommended to us. we all shared the baked alaska but didnt care for it too much to be honest way to sweet. would i came back? i probably would.. the atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff were accomodating and very helpful in our choices of food

Avenue Cafe & Restaurant

really enjoyed this restaurant! the atmosphere was buzzing and crowded.. it almost felt like you were some busy metropolitian city!! food was great but pretty pricey.. will go back again perhaps for the early bird menu.

Da Vincis Restaurant (Leixlip)
Main Street, Leixlip, Kildare

dined here late on fri night, and the restaurant accomodated us even though they were about to close! the pizzas are delicious! as for the starter of spicy wings for him and brie for myself, they were'nt anything special.. the wine we ordered suited the type of meal we had.. its a nice place to go for a nice meal but not to try and impress! the atmosphere was quiet hence the time we were there, but the table service was pretty poor, at one stage we thought they forgotten about us..as they were cleaning floors!!

Alvito's Restaurant
Captains View, Captains Hill, Leixlip, Kildare

my b/f and i decided to book the special meal deal for fri night, there was an average choice available but i found the main menu very tempting with lots to choose from. the food was outstanding and licked my plate clean! never tasted italian food like it! Although it was packed that night it added to the atmosphere, the live singer in the background really added to the romance of the meal, although i would recommend trying songs that were'nt all micheal buble!! the only downfall i could find was the cappucino i ordered was made from maxwell house which left me a bit disappointed considering how much i liked the place..howere the waiting staff were very friendly and helpful and will def will come back here!

Jaipur Restaurant (Ongar)
Unit 35 and 39, Main Street, Ongar village, Dublin 15, Clonee, Dublin

we arrived for the early bird menu, there was'nt much of an atmosphere as we were the only two people in the restaurant! although there was'nt a huge choice available on the set menu the food was very tasty, although not big portions we left feeling comfortably full!the staff were very attentive and polite. i would recommend this restaurant and happily go back again
