See previous review- bit mixed up on prices, to be fair to them, it is early bird 3 for €25 and a la carte 2/3 for €32 and €38. Everything else is accurate.

Restaurant FortyOne
Residence, 41 St. Stephen´s Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

Lovely room overlooking the Green and relaxed atmosphere. Food generally very good but at their prices - it is expensive - they are competing with the Michelin star restaurants and they are just not at that level. Service friendly but very patchy - had to ask for water to be topped up and also to go get our wines and refill our glasses! Nice evening but there are better places out there.

Went early to avail of early bird - 2 courses for €25 - but instead went with a la carte -2/ 3 courses for €30/38. Proved to be a good decision. We had a lovely evening. Nice room, buzzy atmospherebut not noisy, efficient and v friendly service and though the menu is relatively short, all our choices, scallops special and goats cheese brûlée for starters and hake special and braised beef for mains, were delicious. And Mr Munier keeps a close eye on every table! First time visit but we will definitely be back!

DIG IN
19 Lower Camden Street, Dublin 2, Camden Street, Dublin

Very good food and service at sensible prices equals a great casual dining spot! Generous starters of pintxos and cured meat, v good burger and pork belly for mains and good espressos to finish ( no room for deserts this time!)

Bloom Brasserie & Wine Bar
11 Upper Baggot Street, Dublin 4, City Centre South, Dublin

I'm afraid to say that dinner here was a major disappointment as it is in the top 100 in another guide. Basement premises which is pleasant but became soulless on a Saturday night as people left and no new customers arrived. Uninspiring menu and not cheap. Took three attempts to get the wine we wanted as the first two we ordered were "gone". Food when it arrived was very average. I saw nothing to recommend it.

China Sichuan
The Forum, Ballymoss Road, Dublin 18 , Sandyford, Dublin

Used to love the old location - great food, quirky atmosphere, old fashioned service and plenty of parking nearby. Went to lunch at the new location today. Firstly, there is nowhere to park and you will, after driving around, probably end up in the Dunnes car park a good distance away. The premises is modern and characterless. Service was very slow and most of the staff, now non Chinese, have very poor English. The food, when it arrived, was forgettable. What a pity - will not be returning.

Roly Saul The Restaurant
The Mill House, Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin

Went for dinner on Saturday night, having heard good things about it. It's a lovely building, with good atmosphere and service, but we found the menu bland and lacking adventure - beef, chicken, salmon, fish etc all done in conventional style. And lots of smoked dishes, if thats your thing! The prices are pretty high - high 20's to 30's for mains. For these prices, you can get much more exciting cooking in plenty of restaurants in Dublin. And food like this is available in lots of mid price restaurants. Not a bad evening, but nothing special to tempt us back.

Pearl Brasserie
20 Merrion Street Upper, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Went there last weekend with high hopes having seen previous reviews and was not disappointed. Professional but friendly staff, nice decor and atmosphere, good choice of food and a terrific wine recommendation. It was as good an experience as I've had in some of the Michelin places in Dublin at more sensible prices! Try it.

Dax Restaurant
23 Upper Pembroke Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

We were a party of 9 on a Friday night. The evening went well in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The menu is varied and we were all happy with what we ordered. The service was attentive but not overbearing and we were not rushed and stayed v late! The prices are good value for the quality of the restaurant. A really enjoyable evening.

Nonna Valentina
1-2 Portobello Road, Portobello, Dublin

Had dinner here last Saturday and was very pleased. My partner had starter and main course (very good rabbit) and I went for a pasta dish (superb squid ink pasta) and main (tasty guinea fowl), having been assured by a very efficient and friendly waiter that I would manage both! Food is plentiful and well presented, wine list is Italian and there is a good 'buzzy' atmosphere. Prices are higher than your usual Italian (starters €10 plus and mains €25) but well worth it. Make sure to get an upstairs table.

Howards Way (Rathgar)
8 Orwell Road, Dublin 6, Rathgar, Dublin

Went last night and it was as good as always! Good choice of food, free wine and friendly service. Cost for four for dinner of less than €100 - just what is needed in these recessionary times!
