I absolutely loved this place. We went on a Friday night and although it was packed, we were treated very well. All the staff were so friendly and we really had a fabulous night. The waiters knew a lot about the menu and that definitely helped us to make our decision. The food is pricey, but absolutely delicious. If it was twice the price I'd still go back!! Top marks all around!

Riva Restaurant - Harolds Cross
53 Rathgar Avenue, South Dublin, Harolds Cross, Dublin

I have to say I was a little disappointed with our evening here. I ordered the cold meats for starters, which was about €12. I assumed that for this price I'd be getting something special, but I was wrong. It tasted nice alright, but it was just about 4-6 slices of meat on a leaf of lettuce with a couple of olives; €12!!! I got steak for my mains, and, once again it tasted fine, but there was so much fat on it that it turned me off a bit. A pity, cos the atmosphere was good and the staff were lovely.

The food here is amazing! I knew it was a small venue before we went, but I was a bit disappointed at the layout at first; it just seemed very informal or something. The food and service more than made up for this though. There were six of us out on a Saturday night and not one of us was less than 100% happy with every dish. Really, I couldn't recommend it enough.

I agree with some other reviewers that this is not a gastronomic extravaganza. Although I found the main courses a bit bland, all the starters were delicious! So, as it's a buffet, I just went back for more of them! The service and atmosphere were great, although being a Tuesday, it wasn't that full. I'd say on a weekend with a big group of people would be great fun! The total price for a group of 5 of us was just under €100, including drinks!

Had a family Christmas Eve meal here. Delicious. Cannot get over how good the food was. We all kept reaching across the table to try each others' food. Not one of them was below a 5/5. The staff were very attentive without being pushy and the atmosphere was perfect. The restaurant was full but it didn't feel loud or busy at all, nice and relaxed. Can't wait to go back! Actually, I'm hungry now...!

I feel bad for having to dock a few points for atmosphere. There were 9 of us, but we were the only people in the whole restaurant at lunchtime. In fairness, I think it was only open a few days at that time, so I'm assuming nobody else really knew about it yet. We still had a fantastic time and the staff were 100% attentive without being in any way intrusive. Add to that the fact that the food was impeccable and you have the makings of a perfect lunch!

Lemon (South William St)
66 South William St, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

At the risk of sounding like my gran ... the music was a bit loud! The Doors were playing though, so we'll let them away with it. I think, contrary to some other reviewers, that the portions sizes are fine. They don't look big, but they fill you up. Haven't had a sweet one yet ... definitely next time.

Metro Cafe

Pulled a sickie, sauntered to the Metro, big cup of coffee & Metro special with an Irish Times crossword. The perfect start to a lazy day!

Good World Chinese Restaurant

It was sound enough but I can't see myself going back there any time soon. I had sizzling fillet beef with black bean sauce, it was nothing special.

South Street Restaurant
Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Can't believe there are only 2 reviews for this place, its great! We initially went into another restaurant a few doors up from this one, sat down, looked at the menu (there wasn't one in the window) and left! Then we found 'South Street'! I opted for the lunch menu which was €10.95 which is great value for 2 courses and you can choose from any pizza or pasta. Delicious, very relaxed atmosphere, nice music, efficient staff. Perfect!

Fillies Bar & Restaurant
Leopardstown Racecourse, Leopardstown, Dublin

Food's only ok here. About half of the times I've eaten at Fillies I've suspected that my meal was taken from a packet. Staff are friendly though and at least two of their waiters are cute, so that nearly makes up for it!!

An Poitin Stil
Naas Road, Rathcoole, Dublin

A big group of us went here for Mother's Day (about 10 adults and 5 kids). We were put at a big table in the conservatory area so we thought that as we were a bit removed from the main area and the busy day that was in it, the service would take forever. We were wrong! The food came promptly, we were all well looked after, the food was delicious and the kids could wander a bit from their seats without annoying anybody else. We all had a great Mother's Day!

El Bahia Moroccan Restaurant
37 Wicklow Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I've eaten here three times now. Once with family, once with boyfriend and once with work. I see from some other reviews that some people were not happy with their service, but I found the staff to be efficient. Not very friendly or anything, but I don't go to restaurants to make friends! The food is delicious, really tender meat and flavoursome vegetables. My only gripe really was that on two occasions the music was very loud - too loud for conversation or even to hear what our waitress was saying. Maybe that's why some people weren't brought the water they ordered!!

Mongolian Barbeque
7 Anglesea Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Great fun. Good for big parties or couples. There's a comment below warning vegetarians about possibly getting a stray piece of meat in your meal. However when I was there, there was a sign telling you to notify the chef if you are veggie and he will use different paddles and cook your meal on a different part of the grill so that you don't get anything in your food that you don't want.

Comans Rathgar
2 Terenure Road East, Rathgar, Dublin

Ate here only once, but can't say I'd look forward to going back. Food was cold and fairly tasteless. Trying to be a restaurant, but definitely just pub-grub, and not even great at that.

Millstone, A Dublin Restaurant
39 Dame Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Top marks! Delicious food, warm atmosphere, friendly, helpful and sincere staff. It was fairly quiet though for a Friday evening, presumably because the rugby was on. We had a great time and really enjoyed our food. We ordered: tomato & rocket soup, warm goat's cheese/9oz fillet steak, chorizo pizza. I'll be back as often as I can!

Marios (Ranelagh)
39 Ranelagh Village, Dublin 6, Ranelagh, Dublin

I used to eat here a lot, before they expanded and changed their prices. I've found that since they took over next door their overall quality has suffered. I used to be a regular, but haven't been there in a good few months now.

TriBeCa
65 Ranelagh Village, Dublin 6, Ranelagh, Dublin

Yup, the chicken wings. Can't go wrong. They're way too big for just one person though; so bring a friend or two. I ordered the steak then for a main. Delicious.

Mother Reillys Restaurant
The Uppercross Hotel, Opp Tesco, Rathmines, Dublin

I ordered a platter here as a starter. Got a piece of bread crumbed plastic at least the size of the palm of your hand. Told the waitress who was mortified and did everything she could to compensate. Unfortunately, her efforts were hampered by the manager who didn't seem to care at all. He was standing not 2 tables away and when he was told he didn't even look at us as he passed by. The food was awful also. Can't remember what I ordered as a main, but there was no doubt that it came straight from a packet. I doubt that a chef would have rolled some plastic in breadcrumbs either, so that course must have been bought in also.

Yamamori Noodles
71-72 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I loved this place. Five of us went for a friend's birthday and we really had a great night. Our only complaint was a hair in one person's main course, however the problem was speedily and satisfactorily rectified. The waitress apologised, took the whole meal and its accompaniments away and replaced it all along with fresh apologies from the chef and a round of saki for our whole party. Although a hair in your food is something that would turn most people off a particular restaurant, the fact that they acknowledged it and apologised instead of trying to gloss over it really made up for it. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff knew a lot about the menu and drinks. And of course, the food itself was really delicious. I will definitely recommend Yamamori to my friends.
