Shiva, while small, is extremely cosy and inviting and the owners are very chatty and agreeable people. The atmosphere is exotic and yet intimate with an eclectic mix of styles (no doubt a combination of the personal styles of the husband and wife owners). Given the warm initial welcome (a genuine welcome) the service was impeccable and the food was hot, tasty and timely coming out. They have quite an extensive menu and while I'm not big on Indian cuisine the Chicken Karahi was very tasty and not too spicy (as requested). My 3 other friends were also very impressed with the food and we all enjoyed a very special night here.

American Diner style food in a typical 1950s style setting. Food is good but you wouldn't want to be on a diet as the eats are quite stodgy. Overall good atmosphere, fun, tasty and nice for a treat once in a while.

Cates Cafe
19 Castlemill Balbriggan, Balbriggan, Dublin

Often go to Cate's for lunch. They have a good selection of panini's, wraps and sandwiches with hot specials on the board every day. The staff are efficient and mostly friendly. Overall the food is reasonably priced and tasty.

Gojinka
Brackenstown Shopping Centre, Swords, Dublin

We've been here a few times and absolutely love it. A fantastic night out with great food, an amazingly talented chef who sings and does funny tricks while cooking your food. If you're looking for a great night out with friends or on a special occasion you have to experience the teppanyaki bar!! The restaurant also has regular tables if you want reasonably priced Chinese food. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS OR IF YOU JUST WANT TO EXPERIENCE SOMETHING UNIQUE. Also the staff are exceptionally warm, pleasant and attentive. I couldn't fault it on a thing and that's something coming from me!

Castellina Chianti
George's Hill, Balbriggan, Dublin

As regular diners out (in a party of 4) we ate here twice, once last year and we gave it another shot last week (figuring it might have improved). The atmosphere is warm and intimate, however the service on both occasions was really slow and frustrating. On the first visit the garlic bread was quite burnt (I usually don't mind if its just a little crispy burn on the edges but it was badly burnt and not at all palatable or presentable - very poor standard to expect people to eat this) they had the cheek to be annoyed when I asked could they take it back. The service was also pretty slow. The second time we decided we would chance it again to see if anything had changed. While the service was friendly enough it was still slow and the food was just ok. I know other people who dine here and swear by it but we definitely wouldn't go again.

ZAO Thai Restaurant
96B Omni Park Shopping Centre, Swords road , North Dublin, Santry, Dublin

Very friendly staff and great ambiance. The food was very tasty and service was fast. I was with a birthday group so I had a very memorable night here. I think it would also be a nice venue for a romantic dinner as has lots of colour and character and makes for an intimate setting.

Oscar Taylor Restaurant
Island View Hotel, Coast Road, North Co. Dublin, Malahide, Dublin

My family (10) have been coming to this restaurant on and off over the last two years for birthdays etc. We always came for the early bird menu which was very good value. However, the last few times we've been we noticed a steady decline in the early bird food quality (can't comment on the 'a la carte' menu). The food has just become lacklustre and we were all wondering on our last evening there if they actually had a chef cooking fresh food because it was just like reheated pub grub. I'll say one thing though, the staff are excellent. They are very mannerly and attentive, they are a real credit to the restaurant. It is such a shame because we really loved going there and we're not in a big rush to go back now.

Wrights Cafe Bar
The Plaza, Swords, Swords, Dublin

One of our favourite spots for lunch (if you're not in a hurry!). Very tasty food and reasonably priced. The only problem I would have is service can be slow and you can be left waiting or have to make a point of trying to find someone to take your order (which is a shame as it eats into your lunch break). Overall the ambiance, decor, food and value make it a popular spot.

Pasta Pizza
54 Strand Street, Skerries, Dublin

Had dinner here a few weeks ago. I love Skerries so I often head over here for a relaxing evening and try to sample different restaurants every time. Pasta Pizza is a cosy little restaurant with efficient and pleasant staff. The food is pretty tasty and the service is good. The Prawn (with peri peri) starter is particularly great. Overall I love this little place, it has charm, atmosphere, good service and tasty food. Although in saying that I'm not a pizza person so I can't comment on the pizza end of the business. Only negative comment I would have is that the chairs are not very comfortable (slippy polished wooden cottage table type chairs).
