Reviewed 23rd July 2015 ( visited 18th July 2015 )One of my favourite restaurants, the food is always consistent and the staff always friendly. Early bird is good value. We shared a starter and had 2 mains, naan and rice. Portions are just right, food is very filling.

Cleaver East By Oliver Dunne

Had brunch here with 5 other friends, was very disappointing overall, we all had the burgers which were nice but nothing special. Serving was terrible. Wouldn\'t be in a rush to go back here

F.X. BUCKLEY Steakhouse Pembroke Street
1A Lower Pembroke Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Went here for a quiet bite to eat after work. We ordered the scallops & chicken livers to start followed buy the chataubriand for 2 which was cooked to perfection, we asked for it rare. In hind sight there was no need for starters with this main course as it was accompanied by so many sides - champ, fries, green beans, mushrooms, onions as well as 3 sauces all served on the side. Service was friendly and efficient, will definitely return.
Bloom Brasserie & Wine Bar
11 Upper Baggot Street, Dublin 4, City Centre South, Dublin
went here for a romantic meal on a citydeal voucher. we were both very impressed with the selection of the menu that was included. We decided to treat ourselves and upgrade from the house wine that was included. Great service and a lovely atmosphere in this discreet basement restaurant. Will happily return to try more of the menu.
10a Merrion Rd, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin
Went here on a city deal voucher and by the looks of the restaurant so was everyone else that was there. The restaurant was very quiet when we arrived by by the time we were leaving 8pm ish, it was packed, even people waiting to be seated at the door. Our meal started off well with 2 nice starters, chicken livers which I'm told are worth coming back for alone! I had the terrine which was nice but lacked a bit in flavour. And so the standard was set for the main courses, I opted for the pork belly which I wish I hadn't, it was so fatty and unedible I left it on the plate, I was offered to change it but at this stage we were late for another appointment and so couldn't risk being late. My fiance had the lamb shank which was ok nothing special. We didn't stay for dessert as I was so disappointed with my main meal. I don;t think we will re visit this place.
The Chop House Gastro Pub
2 Shelbourne Road, City Centre South, Dublin
Brought some friends here for dinner on Sunday. The restaurant wasn't as busy as it usually is but that only added to our experience as we were well looked after. We had a selection of starters, followed by fish and chips, roast lamb (which was so good), ribeye steak and pork belly, finished off by chocolate mousse, bread and butter pudding. Delicious, good home cooking at reasonable prices in a relaxed environment. You could easily spend the afternoon here on a rainy Sunday as it's so cosy and if you're lucky enough to get seated on one of the sofa's. A must try!
Kanum Thai Ltd
77 Mespil Road, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin
been here a couple of time now for a quick bite to eat whilst passing by. Staff are very friendly and there's a great selection of dishes to choose from. I had the pad prik chicken which was lovely and spicy. Great to warm you up on these cold winter days.
Olesya's Wine Bar
18 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Popped in here after dinner for a glass of wine with a friend, lovely wine list. I had a gorgeouos Portugese red wine and my friend had a Valpolicella. Fast and friendly service even though the guy waiter on his own. A lovely little place to go for some quiet time and a chat.
Fallon and Byrne
11-17 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Went here with a friend last night to use our menupages voucher. The place was buzzing, almost fully occupied, not somethign I've seen for a long time on a Monday night. I has the tomato soup and sirloin steak which was cooked just the way I asked and my friend has halibut linguine which was nice. We had 2 glasses of wine so the bill came to €48 not bad for a monday night. Will be back :)
Bar Italia (IFSC)
Lower Mayor Street, Custom House Square, IFSC, City Centre North, Dublin
I am a huge fan of the bar italia group but I had a very disappointing experience here for lunch. It was a bank holiday monday and it was lashing rain so we ran in here for cover. Usually the pizza's are to die for but mine was soggy and overflowing with cheese. Very messy and difficuly to eat. My partner had tagliatelle al ragu which was a mountain of pasta swimming in sauce. We didn't have much luck with the wines either, the 3 wines we tried were corked, instead we opted for a beer. The waiter serving us was new and didn't seem to have much experience dealing with customers. A real shame, this place is good value for money but they need to control the quality of food that they are serving.
71-72 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
I love comign here for quick snacks. I always order edamane beans and california snowcrab and avocado which are yum. Today I was with a few people and tried the duck ramen which was very tasty and a hige portion. We also ordered tempura prawns in a light batter which were nice and crispy. A good place to eat if you're in a hurry as service is speedy. A firm favorite!
The Westbury, Grafton Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
At 7.30pm we were the frist to enter the restaurant. All the staff were very pleasant and well trained. We used our menupages points to avail of a 3 course meal foc. The menu had many options and wasn't restricting at all which impressed us. We had beef carpaccio, goats cheese tart, ribeye steak and seabass followed by a chocolate fondant. We chose a very well priced Malbec to compliment our meal. Our bill came to €60 which was really good value for the quality of food and the service we had. I will be back!!
Johnnie Fox's Pub
Glencullen, Dublin Mountains, Glencullen, Dublin
This was my first time eatign here and I have to say the menu had a huge variety, making it quiet difficult to order. I was surprised by the amount of non traditional dishes on the menu. My partner started with the snails and frogs legs which weren't great and then he had the lamb shank. I had a very generous serving of prawn cocktail followed by a steak sandwich which was tasteless and a little bit too fatty. I love the decor of this place but the food is just for tourists and very over priced. As we were leaving The Country Boys were playing a set entertaining the crowd!!! Will return for drinks but not food again...
Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin
This place is super stylish and elegantly decorated. We had the early bird menu which has a lot of choice so much that we had trouble deciding. We ordered potato cakes and chicken kebab to start followed by lamb curry and prawn jalfrezi. The mains came with fragrant rice and lovely crispy naan bread. We skipped dessert and had 2 americano's. A lovely taste of the menu. I will be back to splash out on the a la carte very soon...
Zaytoon (Parliament Street)
14/15 Parliament Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
All I can say about this place is yum yum yum!! The quality is very consistent, I've eaten here on a night out after a few drinks and sober as a judge and the food is equally as incredible. The salads in the kebabs are very fresh and this place is always clean. I love the chicken shish kebab : )
The Brass Monkey
12 West Pier, Dublin 13, Howth, Dublin
Came here on Sunday with a friend, menu is quite varied, we chose to have 2 starters as we weren't that hungry, we both chose the prawn and lobster cocktail which was superb and presented beautifully, followed by parsnip soup and duck spring rolls which were lovely and crispy and went nicely with the dipping sauce. The waitress was a little unsure of herself and our table was mixed up with another couple's order twice but apart from this the wait staff are friendly and efficient in general. There were 2 diners al solo at the bar having their dinner and a glass of wine which is nice to have an alternative than going to the pub. Howth needs a casual dining place like this and I'm sure the wine bar element will do well. I wish this place well and will be back to try the wines this time leaving the car at home!!!
14/15 Trinity Street, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin
Bienvenu Pichet!!! I ate here with my boyfriend on Sunday evening, as we entered there was a guy playing some spanish guitar which was a bit different and provided a lovely intimate atmosphere to the dining room. The food here is excellent. We has a selection of starters such as tuna carpaccio, scallops and hamhock terrine. All were amazing. I struggled to find a main course that I liked so I chose the duck which was cooked nicely. My boyfriend has the daube of beef which just melted in the mouth. I know what i'll be having next time!!! we finished off with the most sinful chocolate silk cake which was absolutely divine. To go with our meal we had a lovely french red and 2 dessert wines. If you haven't already been - GO!!
Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill
51 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin
Went here last night for a special occassion. I was amazed by how busy the place was, it was buzzing. The waiters seemed under pressure too, they could do with a helpign hand. Our food was good, prawn cocktail and asparagus to start, t bone steak and fillet steak for main cooked to perfection, shame our sauce didn't come on the side even though we requested it. We finished off our meal with a sticky toffee pudding to share and 2 glasses of white wine and a beautiful bottle of Rioja, bill came to €178 ex tip. We enjoy coming to this restaurant but the service could do with improvement.
Milano (Grand Canal Harbour)
Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin
This is my local Milano and it's nice to see it so busy these days. There's always a buzzy atmosphere and by this time the staff know me!!! I always start with the dough balls which are a firm favourite and hard to beat followed by one of their creative pizza's. I had the Etna which was lovely and spicy. I used a voucher which they gave me before Christmas for 50% off maybe this explains why it was so busy on a Tuesday evening!!
Restaurant Ten Fourteen
324 Clontarf Road, Clontarf, Dublin
Came here for early bird menu with a friend, looks are very deceiving on the outside but once you get inside its very cosy and a lot bigger than you'd expect. I had the Jane Russell black pudding wrapped in filo pastry to start which was very tasty indeed followed by the fish and chips which were like fish goujons rather than one big piece of fish. Wasn't crazy about the chunky chips. I prefer my ships to be slightl crisp and these were dark brown and mushy. We skipped dessert and finished off wirth 2 mint teas. It was good value but won't be rushing back for the food, the service was excellent though, all the wait staff were very attentive.
109a Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
I was treated to my Birthday dinner here by my wonderful boyfriend. What an experience!! I've been dying to go back ever since. All the staff make you feel truly spoiled. The food was superb, we had the tastign menu with wines which is great value and a good way to sample the menu. My favourite was the scallops and the venison!! Dessert was also a pleasure, I had a lovely moist carrot cake and fruity sorbet. This place will be on my wish list for a very long time!!!
Dunne And Crescenzi (South Frederick Street)
14-16 South Frederick Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
I love this place, its so cosy and the atmosphere is always great. We had a lovely friendly waiter. We chose the special of the day which was Schiaffoni with aubergine and tomatoe sauce, it was lovely even thought the pasta was a little too al dente but we still managed to eat all of it!!! We had 2 lovely glasses of wine and an grilled vegetable antipasti to share.
Sandyford Road, Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin
never been to a Nando's before, was a bit disappointed that it was self service but all the same the piri piri chicken was lovely we asked for the spiciest one but to me it wasn't very spicy at all. We had a hald chicken between us which was enough for a filling quick bite. Good value too
The Counter Dundrum
Pembroke District, (adjacent to the Mill Pond at Town Square), Dundrum, Dublin
went here for a bite before heading to the cinema. this place was packed, cool decor and love the idea of writing your own order and choosing every detail, very simple and easy to use. We designed our own yummy burgers, cips and onion rings and finished off with 2 beers. Very enjoyable experience.
Gourmet Burger Kitchen - GBK (South William Street)
14 South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
fast and friendly service, great quality burgers but this place is not that cheap, we had 2 burgers, onion rings and chips, 2 beers and the bill came to €37!!!
2 Bath Avenue, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin
Sometimes less is more which reflects the portion sizes in Juniors. Usually this is a good thing but we found our salads to be too heavy and not very healthy considering they were the healthier option on the menu!! I ordered the caesar salad which was drenched in salad cream and lots of parmesan shavings which was a bit over powering. My partner had the goats cheese salad, again too much cheese, it took over all the other flavours of the salad. Service was minimal as they were rushed off their feet, no excuse really. I will definately be more selective with my choice next time.
Canal Bank Cafe
146 Upper Leeson Street, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin
Went for lunch here with a friend, it was our first time here, we've been dying to try it for a while now and the food did not disappoint expecially the chicken wings, we got a half portion and even that was a struggle to finish!!! we had the steak sandwich and a chicken club sandwich to share, both were lovely except the waitress asked how i'd like my steak cooked and I said medium and it was cooked well done so was a very dry. The chicken club was full of flavour tho. Both came with skinny fries which were very nice. The portions were very big which made up for the lack of service our table had. Will happily go back for the food but not much else!!
L'Officina by Dunne And Crescenzi (Dundrum)
Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin
first time here, had a lovely meal, all the staff are Italian which gives this place an authentic feel. We had a lovely red wine with our pasta dishes. A great place to recharge after a hard days shopping....
The Purty Kitchen (Dun Laoghaire)
3-5 Old Dun Laoghaire Road, Co. Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin
Spent a lovely sunny afetrnoon here in the garden terrace. The lobster salad was a special of the day which was really nice, so were the crab claws. We ordered the chicken wings also as I heard they were really good here, but was very disappoinbted with them as they were very dry and in need of more sauce. We also has a portion of prawn pils pils which was tasty, could have been better with more prawns rather than shrimps. All in all a good experience, will return again.
Peploes Wine Bistro
16 St Stephen's Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin
Have been dying to try this place for more than a year now but I left feeling slightly disappointed. There was a busy atmosphere, not what I was expecting. The food was average, a little pricey and the service wasn't up to standard. Won't be rushing back.
The Cake Cafe
62 Pleasants Place, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Had lunch here today for the first time after hearing so much about this place. It's a great spot for a coffee, cake and a chat. I love the decoration of the place its very cute and unusual. Will defo be back to try more of their yummy cakes!!!
Ivans Oyster Bar & Grill
17 - 18 West Pier, Howth, Dublin
We has a special lunch here yesterday which was amazing. What a great spot to spend a Sunday afternoon. We started with grilled lobster since it was in season so fresh and divine, then we has some fried prawns and oysters followed by cod casseulet with chorizo and tomatoes very tasty. My partner had the whole grilled seabass which he was very impressed with. The chips were cooked to perfection too nice and crispy!! To top our meal off we had a lovely bottle of Albarino which complemented our meal beautifully. This is a very good place if you want to experience fresh fish at its best. A little pricey but so worth it!! will definately be back for another feast!!
13 Dame Court, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin
Thi is my second trip to this restaurant in the last month. This time me and my friend opted for the fivers menu which is very god value and a great way to try different dishes. We chose the prawns which were the best i've had in a long time, chick pea and chorizo stew which was a bit rich for my liking, squid rings, the mezze plate which was lovely, except for the vegetables as all they tasted of was vinegar. We also indulged ourselves with a bottle of the house red which was a lovely Malbec, nice to see that house wine can be as nice as Malbec!!! all in all a good experience, will defo go back for the prawns!!
F.X. BUCKLEY Steakhouse Crow Street
2 Crow Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin
Have been here a few times for the early bird menu €24.95 for 3 courses. On this occassion we were 10 minutes late for our table, luckily the friendly manager squeezed us in. We started with the pork ribs and the crab cakes which were delicious. Then we both had steaks, one rib eye cooked to perfection and one sirloin steak also cooked prefectly however it wasn't the best cut, part of the meat was very tough and chewy. We ordered 2 sides sauteed onions and mushrooms. We finished with dessert, pear and custard tart and apple crumble which is one of the nicest restaurant versions i've had in a long time. Our bill came to €90 with a nice bottle of red wine not bad for a 3 course meal. Very good value. We will be back.
ely gastro bar
Grand Canal Square, (Next to the Bord Gais Energy Theatre), Dublin 2, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin
I've been here a few times as I live in the area and its really handy for a quick bite to eat or a drink afetr work. Came here with a friend for the VAT free tuesday - all wine is VAT free so its amazing value. We asked the waiter for recommendations and he gave us 5 wines to sample before we made our decision which was so nice and we ended up getting a lovely Lovely atmosphere, really nice on a sunny evening sitting outside. The wine was so nice we treated ourselves to a mini fish and chips and a dessert!! Will definately return on a Tuesday as you can splash out on an amazing wine at affordable prices...
ely gastro bar
Grand Canal Square, (Next to the Bord Gais Energy Theatre), Dublin 2, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin
This place is great for watching the world cup games. I love the burgers and chips, my friend had the fish and chips which was nice. A great spot to come for casual eating. It's nice to see it busier with the new Theathre opened.
20 Mountjoy Square East, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin
Ate here with a friend last night, we opted for the early bird special including a bottle of house wine, we chose the Merlot which was very weak. I had the prawns to start which were ok a bit tasteless and over cooked, this was followed by a rib eye steak the meat very a bit tough and very fatty. My friend chose the goats cheese and the steak also. We finshed off with the apple pie and the hazelnut terrine which ended on a high note. This place is good value for money.
7 The Green, North Co. Dublin, Malahide, Dublin
I love this place, it is one of my favourites, I love bringing friends here from afar. Not only is it a very stylish venu but the food is great and the Mojito's are good too!! A good restaurant and bar is hard to find. We've often popped in for weekend drinks at the bar which are very well made. The staff here are also very professional and very well trained. Their Sunday Jazz brunch is a lovely way to spend the afternoon. The menu is very broad and caters to everyone, I've tried most of the dishes on the menu, but my favourite dish is the Biriyani Gosht a meal in itself. The Jhinga Tandoori prawns are amazing too, who ever thought seafood could be so exotic!! My partner loves the Lamb Korma and the Lamb chops. I would highly recommend this place and will continue to go back on a regular basis!!
The Oar House Fish Restaurant
8 West Pier, North Co. Dublin, Howth, Dublin
I went here with my boyfriend one rainy Sunday afternoon, it was packed as usual, we had to wait 10 minutes for a table which was very reasonable, i've been waitign a lot longer in previuos times. I love this place for its fresh fish and its home baked brown bread, I even recommended that they start to retail it as I would certainly buy it!! We starded with prawns pils pils and the mussels which were both very tasty and quick. We usually have the catch of the day when we go here which in this case was the haddock which was cooked to perfection in a light and crispy batter accompanied by their hand cut chips and their minty mushy peas which we love. We indulged ourselves by havign a slice of the Mississippi mud pie which was ok nothing special. To compliment our meal we had a bottle of Sancerre which was delicious. I would definately recommend this place to seafood lovers!!
Brownes Deli and Cafe
18 Sandymount Green, Dublin 4, Sandymount, Dublin
I have many fond memories of this place as I used to work in the area and frequent this place a lot. On a recent trip to Sandymount with a friend I was eager to introduce her to this place. It was a rainy afternoon so we decided to go for toasted panini's and a glass of wine. I had the tuna and sweetcorn panini which was overloaded with topping and very oily. My friend had the vegetarian panini which was only average, thank god these panini's were saved by their delicious sweet pepper relish. Albeit, it is a good lunch spot and I will definately be choosing my panini more careful next time!!!
The Chili Club
Anne's Lane, South Anne Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
I've heard so much about this place, I have been dying to try it for years and finally got the chance while I was ouot with my friend for drinks. I have to say I was very disappointed by the food. Not only is the decor very old but so is the presentation of the food. I felt like I was eating in a chinese restaurant. Not at all what I was expecting. We started with the spring rolls and prawn patties to share, they were average nothing special. Then I had the stir fried chicken in special sauce which was tasty at first but then I got that MSG feeling and I couldn't finish my meal. We passed on dessert and shard a bottle of French wine which was quite nice. I won't be going back...
318 Clontarf Road, North Co. Dublin , Clontarf, Dublin
Went here with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary last Thursday,, was amazed at how busy it was. We were seated upstairs which had no atmosphere unlike downstairs, its definately worth requesting a table downstairs when booking. As always the food was suberb here, really good offers on the ealry bird which we availed of. We had a lovely Malbec also which went so well with our food. Our waitress didn't know too much about the wines not was she very attentive during our meal. By 8.30pm the restaurant was very busy and we felt we were being rushed through our meal. The waitress then came over to offer us dessert, which she said was Strawberries and cream or ice cream. In our early bird meal dessert was included so we asked what this was and she said strawberries so we ordered 2 portions. We were very surprised to receive our bill only to be charged extra for the 2 desserts we had since they were included on the earlybird. We queried this with the waitress and she said the dessert we had was not included on the earlybird that a different dessert comes with the earlybird. In other words, tellign us we were wrong, after walkign away from our table she re-presented us with the same bill and said her manager said the bill was correct. We then asked to speak to the manager who we had to explain to again, he then saw her mistake and removed the extra charges for dessert from our bill. He was apologetic in the end and told us the waitress was only new and still in training. They really need to train their staff more before putting them to work a busy restaurant. I was very disappointed leaving this restaurant as it is one of my favourites and I love to go here on special occassions but it will be a while before I go back...
Port House Pintxo
12 Eustace Street, Dublin 2, Temple Bar, Dublin
Went for a bite to eat with a friend last night. I must admit I am new to tapas way of eating but I was looking forward to the experience none the less!!! we started by ordering 2 plates each and were told by the waitress we could order more after we had finished. So we started with the prawns pils pils, meatballs which were delicious, calamari looked a bit overdonw but very large portion and the pintxo jambon which was very tasty. To top it all off we ordered a bottle of red wine Bodega Bohigas Crianza 2002 which was a bargain at only €31, it was delicious!! After we finished our 4 dishes we were so impressed byt the quality of food that we decided to go another round and so ordered 1 patatas bravas with garlic mayo which came out smothered all over the potatoes (it looked worse than something you would get in a late night kebab shop) not very impressive, then I had the vegetable paella which was tasteless and very sticky, my friend had the chicken wings which were quite nice and another portion of the pintxo jambon since it was so good the first time. All in all a pleasant experience ruined by my second choice of tapas. I would recommend 3 tapas per person. Would still return tho!!
22 Ely Place, (Just off St. Stephen’s Green), Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Ate here with a friend last night just for a quick bite to eat and a bottle of wine. Really loved the food, great service and good value for money which is hard to find nowadays. Waiter was very helpful, recommended a lovely Spanish wine which we wouldn't normally go for but it was very reasonable for €30. Woudl go again...
