I have been here many times and was here with a group of 6 on Saturday night. Which was very busy with the Sail Fest in the town. The atmosphere and service were excellent as always. To food which can depend in my opinion on which chef is on was very good for my choices and for most of the others in the party which the exception of the Canoloni which one person had which was hard and disappointing. I do love this resturant but onlu complaint would that it is a little on the expensive side but there is a early bird - which I never seem to make! I will keep going back for the atmosphere and the service which are second to none and will take my chances on the food.

4 of us had the early bird menu here last night. With 2 courses for €20 and 3 for €23 and a reasonable wine list it is good value local restaurant. I had calamari which was tasty but could have been cooked a little bit longer. I then had duck confit which was server is a cassoulet, it was a delicious, rustic dish that looked lovely and tasted great. The other choices at the table were a starter of soup which was very good and the third starter was a special of beef carpaccio. I tasted the beef and I thought it was very good as did my boyfriend who’s dish it was. There was not forth started. The other 3 all ordered steak to be cooked different ways and all were please with the dishes. The presentation of the steaks was (as with the duck) rustic and lovely. I will certainly visit again and I would recommend for the good food, good value and friendly service

Il Folletto Restaurant

It was a cold night in Galway which is expected at this time of the year, but having a Superser heater in your restaurant does nothing for the atmosphere. That aside my husband and I had two good starters and we choose from a good wine list a lovely red. Onto the main courses, he had Lasagne which was good and a big portion. I had pizza, I was disappointed when it came out, as it was under cooked. I asked for it to go back for another few minutes which was not a problem at all. However I was expecting it back in a few minutes and when it did not appear I enquired to find out that it had been forgotten about and a new one was being cooked! Ok fine these things happen but the new pizza came out the same way as the original, disappointing at which time my husband was well finished his Lasagne. Not an overall good dining experience but ok


The Yard Restaurant

I was here on a Monday night with my Vegetarian friend, who first off was very pleased as there was more than one choice for her on each course. We loved the restaurant which was full of atmosphere with great friendly service. I had a starter of scallops and pork belly, it did have one tiny downside and this was that the puree was not warm and there was too much but that aside it was a very good dish. My main was lamb chops which I thought might not be enough, I got that wrong however with a very healthy portion of delicious lamb served with lyonnaise potatoes and pesto. The veggie, had a cheese feast with a goats cheese salad to start and a halloumi dish for main both of which she loved. We had very good wine from a well chosen wine list which has good variation in terms of price. The early bird menu was good value, the Al a Carte was a good bit higher but on tasting the food it was worth it. I would recommend to anyone visiting Wexford and would consider a return the next time I am in Wexford.

Fishy Fishy Restaurant

I had a meal here with a big group of friends on Friday night. It lived up to its expectation and we really enjoyed ourselves. I had a taste of scampi to start and it was just prefect. I then had steak which was cooked correctly and tasted lovely. I know an odd choice for a fish restaurant but worth it. The staff were very efficient, friendly and also very discreet which was good. Two downsides - our large table was split which was ok but it would have been nice to know that when we booked. Also the choice of red wine was poor, I know it is a fish restaurant but it could do with a review. Finally I will definitely visit again, I would ask for an upstairs booking as the entrance and bar / waiting area is lovely but downstairs dining was very hot.


Bulman Bar & Restaurant

Had a pub meal here on Saturday evening it was lovely. I had haddock in batter with chips, so fresh it was practically still swimming ! The pub was very busy and had a great atmosphere. There was a big group of us and it was a little complicated to get food service with a waitress who was far from nice, I will give her the benefit of the doubt as all other staff were very helpful, so maybe she was haivng a bad day which was very busy. The meal was also very good value at €9.50


Al Boschetto

I visited this restaurant with 5 friends before Bon Jovi, as expected it was very busy. The service was fast and friendly which was a good start for such a busy restaurant. Personally I did not like my starter as did one of my friends who had the same, extremely salty calamari. Other than that it was a good size and came with a good portion of salad to compliment. The other starter (only one other went for a starter) was a salad and again it was a good portion size and it tasted nice and fresh. We all had pizza with varying options and all comments were good. It was a good experience overall but not one to set the world alight and it has only fairly expensive options left on the wine list. I wonder would if differ on a night when there is no concert on ?


Fallon and Byrne

Myself and 3 friends went here for a very enjoyable late lunch on Saturday. The service was both friendly and attentive in what was a busy restaurant with a good atmosphere. Two of the party were vegetarian and there choice was excellent which is not always the case . The both had crostini to start with while I had caesar salad as did the last of the four. All starters were very good with big portions served. For main course the vegetarian’s had a lovely linguine with goats cheese and were both impressed. While the meat eaters had very flavorsome burgers if just a little dry with a serving of gorgeous chips. The prices were also very reasonable and even more so if you take the portion size into account. I look forward to going again and choosing something different from there very varied menu.


Osta Cafe & Wine bar
Garavogue Weir View, (near Hyde Bridge), Stephen Street, Sligo Town, Sligo

This cafe has a lovely setting overlooking the river with an interesting menu. Service was a little slow on a Sunday morning when it was not that busy but food was good quality and did the trick. Like the look of the Jazz brunch advertised and was disappointed I could not stay longer to try that out.


MacNean House & Restaurant

Amazing from start to finish everything and more than I expected of a visit which I had been looking forward to since booking it 5 months beforehand ! My boyfriend and I opted for the dinner menu and together with the food, attention to detail, the wine selection on offer and service it was all excellent. There was a quirky thing where one of the waitress on pouring the wine always seemed to give me more than my boyfriend, which was a little odd but who am I to complain !! I could not recommend MacNean House enough and will look forward to my next visit. It is expensive but worth it in every way, finished off by the chef and owner coming out to greet as many as he could after service. Incidentally we were staying the night and the breakfast the next morning was wonderful with more top class excellent quality food. Of which the restaurant also makes a huge effort to keep to local produce which is to be commended. Nothing but 5 stars all round


Bistro Bianconi
The Italian Quarter, Tobergla Lane, Sligo Town, Sligo

On a visit to Sligo my boyfriend and I called in to this restaurant with no booking and it was packed. The Maitre Dee was a lovely friendly girl who took our name and suggested we call back or take a seat, we decided on a seat and a glass of wine. The restaurant is deceivingly larger than you would expect on entry and had a great atmosphere. We shared a starter which was breads and dips and this was very good. We both had pizza and it was excellent pizza. The service was fast and friendly an all in all a very good pizza restaurant, worth another visit, if we happen to be in Sligo again.


Montmartre Restaurant
The Market Yard, Sligo Town, Sligo

On a trip to Sligo this was a great find, it is located somewhere you are very unlikely to wander across. We found it via the web and called to book and ask directions. My boyfriend and I both had starters and main courses that could not be faulted, they were excellent. I had a duck spring roll and the fillet of beef with himself having seafood salad and duck. The wine list is well done with a generous selection of wines for under €25. Service was good with one very friendly waiter and one serious one ! The prices were on the higher side of the scale but with food of this quality I did not find this an issue. We were delighted to have found it on our visit.


Bits and Pizzas

Visited with my menu pages points and had a lovely evening. We ordered and when the wine was served we also were served breadsticks which I love with a lovely light pesto mayonnaise, nice touch. I had delicious mushrooms to start and my boyfriend has garlic bread which was good With both went for the pizza and it was a good pizza with lovely fresh and good quality ingredients, however the style of pizza would not be my favorite as I would prefer it thinner (this is merely personal taste and not a reflection on the pizza) Even without the points the value menu, which we both ate from is very good value The service was efficient, helpful and friendly in all I would recommend and I will return.


Black 'n Blue Grill - Closed

I was here for dinner with my boyfriend on Saturday night. It is a lovely setting for a restaurant however I was disappointed overall. I had scallops to start which consisted of only three very small scallops, which I thought was a small offering. One of the scallops was burnt which was surprising as to me it was very obviously burnt and I would have thought it should not have been served. My boyfriend had the fish cake which was lovely. We both has steak and they were both cooked as ordered and tasted very good, the disappointment in the main course was with my boyfriend potatoes which were hard in the centre and my chips were not cooked enough either. Service was friendly but very slow, the restaurant was not at capacity so I would have thought this should have been better as there was a lot of staff on, just seemed a tad disorganised. I will visit again to give them the benefit of the doubt but I did feel for the cost of the meal that it was not worth it.


Wildes @ Lisloughrey Lodge

We were staying in the hotel for two nights and on one night we ate in the bar Malt (which was included in deal) and had a very good meal. I had steak and an unusal starter of spring roll, stuffed with sundried tomatoes and avocado both of which were excellent. My boyfriend has chowder which was good and also a great steak. Service was fast and very friendly. The second night we ate in Salt the main resturant which was expensive and that was fine as the food was excellent. I could not fault it and it was an interesting menu I chose the scallops to start and had shoulder of lamb for my main course and both were delicous. However the service was very poor, the waitress who mainly served us appeared to be in very bad form and did nothing to hide this fact in any way. Overall there was not a good atmosphere in the resturant with other staff appearing to be rushing around but not engaging with diners. I found this very dissapointing and if I was the chef who had procuded the excellent food I would be furious. The part that topped it off for me was when our waitress poured (sloshed would be more appropriate) our bottle of wine and she divided half the bottle into two glasses and then plonked the wine on the table. I would recommend the food but I would not visit again for that service.


The Gin Palace

Had a early meal here before going to a play. The service was fast and friendly, with good basic pub food. Wine by the glass was a little pricey but I would recommend it overall if just looking for pub food.


Milano (Baggot Street)

As I entered the restaurant the manager made me feel welcome and ensured when my boyfriend joined me he knew where I was seated. He was friendly and chatty from the start of the evening and recommended a lovely wine which was on special offer. The wine being on special offer is a good one for Milano in my opinion as it was on the expensive side prior to the sale. Both the waiter who served the wine and the waitress who served the food provided a very good attentive and friendly service. We both had calamari to start and a romana base pizza each which were very good. The good service continued with the manager checking a couple of times with us during the evening which was a very nice touch and followed this up at the end of the meal to ensure we were happy. All staff should be commended however I would specifically single out the manager as an excellent ambassador for Milano's who made the evening very enjoyable for us both. We shall look forward to returning


Ouzos Bar and Grill Blackrock

I was here last night and really enjoyed it We sat downstairs in the bar style reasturant which was very relaxing with good music. The food was very good with a little critisim from each of us - but nothing that warranted sending back. There are two choices of early birds of which we both had the more expenisve. I had crab claws which were good but needed a little more lime in the lime butter and for my main course I have wild game and mushroom pie which was delicious. My boyfried had lovely chowder which could have been warmer and a steak which was very good except for a section of it which was tough. Good portion sizes and a good selection of wine slightly on the expensive side rather than than being good value. The service was friendly and attentive. In all I look forward to visiting again and will recommend to friends.


The Glasshouse Restaurant

Visited here on a very busy Saturday night. Lovely setting both inside and in terms of the views. We had a lovely meal very enjoyable with friendly helpful service if a little slow at times. I would recommend both for the food and the atmosphere.


Cafe Topolis

I was here with a friend on Tuesday night, the restaurant was extremely busy with all tables full as we arrived. The lovely waitress asked did we want to take a table downstairs and she would move us up sd soon as possible. Downstairs was cold and quiet and we were delighted when she came back a few minutes later to move us up to a really good busy atmosphere. The starters were both lovely I had calamari and my friend had the stuffed tomato. The pizza for both our taste were to thick in terms of the base the flavor was lovely but just not too our taste. It was good value I would visit again especially for the great service but I would choose something other than pizza.


Ristorante Morsiani - Closed
1 Fitzwilliam Square, Wicklow Town, Wicklow

Was here for dinner with 3 others and we were all impressed with the meal and the night overall. 4 different starters and all lovely from the mushrooms in Parmesan, the souffle Parmesan the prawns in tomato sauce and the carpaccio. Two had steak for main course and both were happy with how it was cooked and tasted. I had lamb and it was delicious with a lovely sauce. The only criticism in terms off food was the last main course which was the veal which was a little tough and bland. Lovely wine with a good atmosphere once other diners arrived as we were a little early. Good service and attention to detail. Looking forward to visiting again and would highly recommend.


The Wishing Well

It is pub grub and I had a steak sandwich which I enjoyed cooked as ordered and tasty. Big portions and not a bad choice of wine by the glass. Staff are friendly and atmosphere is relaxing with a lovely fire. Would recommend, if in the area.

Came here with my menu pages points and was looking forward to it from reading some of the reviews. I was disappointed the food was ok, the service very poor bar one waiter and the wine was expensive enough although for a city centre resturant probably the norm. I had ceaser salad to start and my boyfriend had the chowder both ok nothing special. We both choose the steak and the were cooked as ordered but were a little tough and dry, the accompanying salad and veg were not as listed on the menu and I choose the chip which I sent back as they were undercooked. My replacement mash took 10mins or so. There was a mixup with desert which to be honest imporved as it meant we got a laugh from the waiter who was good at his job. The other staff were not up to it wherther it was after a long Christmas period or lack of management I am not sure. Using the voucher took the sting out of it as if I had paid full whack for this I would have been unhappy. I will not be going again and would not recommend.


Olesya's Wine Bar

We had lunch here and it was lovely, it is a great settings very rustic. Unfortunately there was very few people as it was lunch time on a snowy Monday. Great choice of wine with helpful staff and a lovely menu for both bites and full meals We went with a cheese board and very good dips and breads Would recommend and will return

I was here on Friday night and I was so very pleased with the vening overall. I was with my boyfriend and we went for Brie and the dips to start both lovely I then had very good steak which was good value and cooked correctly as I like it. My boyfriend had duck and it was lovely. We had a very good value of Malbec. The service was friendly and efficient with a lovely atmosphere. Had not been for dinner in a while and I can't think why as I will definetly be back and would recommend without hesitation


Square Steakhouse

I have been in this resturant a number of times in the past and have always had an issue with how they cook my steak. On this visit it was no different and I was once again disappointed my steak was not done to how I had requested it which is bleue. The resturant seems to be (going on my boyfriends meal and also past visits) of cooking a medium ir well done steak but after that they struggle Will not be returning

Myself and my boyfriend had a late lunch here on a Saturday. I was very disappointed with the service in that is was extermely slow. It was a friendly service but so slow I could not believe it, the resturant was not that busy by any strech of the imagination with only 4 tables occupied. I choose steak which was good on arrival however it came with luke warm mash which I didnt send back as I didnt think I would get a replacment in any reasonable time frame. My boyfriend meal bangers was good but over priced All in all I would be slow to return


Sky View Cafe

I had lunch here it is a a little off the beaten track but a lovely setting with a great view (as the name hints). Good lunch menu with a great selection and interesting choices. The food was well presented and fresh. I would certianly recommend and will visit again. It is also a good way to promote the opera house


Bates Restaurant

A party of 5 of us went here on a Thursday night. We choose from a combination of the value menu and the Al a Carte menu. The main course choice on the Al a Carte was in my opinion a little poor but very good for the fish lovers; all fish bar duck and steak. I had fillet of beef salad to start and duck for main with a side order of courgette all were excellent. Everyone else was happy with their choices and had very positive comments. The red wine drinkers had a great value Tempranillo from the value menu which was lovely. The resturant was busy and with a large tabel opposite us very loud, thanksfully they finished before we had got to the main course so that was ok. I would book the front of the resturant the next time. Service was a little hit and miss in that some things were slightly delayed but as it was so busy and the staff were friendly that could be forgiven. Would highly recommend and am looking forward to my next visit


Seasons Restaurant (Wexford)

Myself and my boyfriend stayed in this hotel for one night and combined it with a night at the races and a meal. There was no set deal for the meal combined with the stay, but there was set menu which was good value with two meals coming to €52 euro. The starter was a poor choice for me but I had salmon roulade which was good. Himself had seafood chowder which was excellent. We both went for steak which was done perfectly and tasted lovely. Very good and friendly service with a nice touch of making a fuss over a desert for his birthday which had just come up in conversation - really liked that The house wine again was a poor choice, meaning we went onto the standard list making it that bit more expensive. Overall I would recommend the resturant if staying in the hotel.

I was here on Friday night it is a little dated in trems of decor but the food was very good. We had starters of ceasear salad and chowder which were both very good. We both had steak which were cooked exactly as ordered and were excellent with a good size serving of mash and chips. We were late coming in so the value menu was the only cheaper option which meant desert of which I am not really a fan but they were good. Wine was expensive with house starting at €23. We had a malbec for €26 which I have bought in a wine shop for €10 (so that hurts a little!) Staff were friendly and for a busy night all ran smoothly Overall I would come again but in truth I would rather the setting of the resturant in Monkstown


World Wide Kitchen - CLOSED

I was here on a Sunday evening for an early dinner with my boyfriend. The starters of which we had the crostini and a mix of Italian meats and cheeses were very good, good quality and very good value. We had a Malbec which was priced well at €19. However the main courses for us were a let down - the Bolognese was dry and so not to my taste and the burger himself had was too well done and very small. Service was friendly and enthusiastic, if a little rough around the edges as they seem to be still learning – it is after all a new venture. Overall we had an enjoyable meal if a little poor on the main courses but I would by all means visit again. I would be inclined to stick with a mixture of starters and salads next time as the menu does read like a good lunch menu rather than evening.

Went last night with my boyfriend, an extravagance for a Monday but sure ! We decided on a drink first and the bar was busy for a Monday. The barman was cranky which I was disappointed with as there is no need. We were going to sit upstairs for the early bird but it was a bit formal so the resturant manager said it was fine to have the early bird downstairs and followed us down with the menu. Staff (exception of the bar man) were all extremelty helpful at one point we had 3 staff bringing things to the table ! I had ceasear salad which was really good, if a bit much and my boyfriend had breaded mushroom which looked a bit old but tasted nice. He has steak and was very pleased with it being cooked as ordered and tasting excellent. I had gone off the early bird menu for another special the lamb shank - it was a lovely flavour and with mash, vegatables and red wine jus - only downside was that it was a little overdone in that the outside of it was a little had - a little disapponitin but flavour made up for it. We had a very nice wine and all in all an enjoyable evening which would have us coming back.

The News Cafe
55 le Road, Blackrock, Blackrock, Dublin

Love the breakfast here it is second to none. They have great sausage meat rather than sausages in skins which are not to be missed. The service is always fast and friendly and it is very good value with big protions and extra hot water for a tea top up at no extra charge. When it Blackrock at breakfast time it is hard to resist. Would think lunch here would be good also just have not been.

Was here on a Tuesday night, I expected it to be quiet but it was busy (relatively speaking) which did create an atmosphere. Initally the service was slow in that it took a long time to order however with only one waiter on that could be forgiven. The resturant is very modern and well appointed and I did like it alot. I was however disappointed with the food. I had melon and prosciutto which I have to say was fine with the exception of the addition of olive oil to it which it did not need. Both prodcuts were fresh it was however on the expensive side for what it was. I had a main course of ravioli with spinach in a creamy tomato sauce. the ravioli was undercooked and the dish was very bland. My boyfriend had the brushetta was was hard and a poor effort, he then had Lasange which was again like my main course bland. If this had been a meal we got on the early bird I would be more forgiving - but it was not so I was disappointed. I would struggle to go back again even though I did like the resturant itself. The wine was good value and the wine list had a good selection.


Lord Bakers Seafood Restaurant

Very good service and one of the only resturants in Dingle to offer an early bird longer than an hour. Saying that the Al a Carte is still expensive in it's own right (again in keeping with other resturants in Dingle). I had crab claws to start which was a big portion the crab being very fresh and very good. I had rack of lamb for my main course again a big portion cooked as orderd and an excellent herb crust on the lamb. My boyfriend had prawns in garlic to start which was lovely, a good size protion and also very fresh. He then had half a lobster for his main course which he enjoyed and proclaimed very good. The resturant itself bein in the pub is a little quirkey and there are three menu to choose from which gives a good choice in terms of cost. With service second to none I would recommend a visit


Ashe's Bar
Main Street, Dingle, Kerry

I was here on Friday night, late enough there was not a huge crowd in the resturant but the layout is such that it did not matter as it is made up of different rooms. I had the scollops to start which were excellent, I had them with the garlic and herb butter from the main course which did not present a problem for the staff to do which is always a good sign. For my main couse I had lamb shank and this was also excellent. My boyfriend had chowder which he was very happy with - after the weekend it was the best chowder and he had in Dingle. His main was the steak which was cooked perfectly. It was expensive overall, resturants in Dingle do not seem to be offering the good value available in other parts of the country and this resturant was no exceptino to that saying this the food was excellent as was the wine. From a weekend stay in Dingle this was the best of 3 night dining out.


The Olive Grove

We had a meal here last night and from entering to leave the resturant I throughly enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and helpful as well as enthusiastic about the resturant and it's food. Location is great overlooking the river with a terrace, evening was not warm enough to eat outside. We did not have a booking so unfortunately there was no table by the window, however the owner did move us when one became available which was a very nice touch. Meal was perfect with big selection of starters some you would expect and others a little quirky - and the same with the main courses. I had brie and lamb shank and both were excellent. It is a resturant I will go back to and as I do not live in Athlone that is praise ! Dont pass it if you are in the area

Was here on a sunny Friday and it was lovely to come in after some beers in the sunshine. Found it hard to choose as the menu is limited and alot of starter contanied goats cheese of which I am not a fan. Eventually decided to share a starter - Beef Carpaccio - excellent and then I had rib eye and my boyfriend had duck - both very good and an excellent wine - for a good price. Overall good value with a good atmosphere and would look forward to going again - but would hope the menu had changed a little

We used the current voucher which is two cours and a drink for €15 and this was very good value. We were a table of 4 and all bar one had baked dough balls -always a favourite and did not disappoint. All four has pizza 2 with Romana base 2 with Classic - flavours not as hot as advise on the menu for the Amercian HOT and the Romana was not as hot (as in temp) as would have liked. Overall good but could have been great with a little extra effort. Resturant lovely setting Wine good and not bad value also.
