Le Bon Crubeen restaurant
81-82 Talbot Street, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin, Area Code: Dublin 1
Reviewed 19th March 2013 ( visited 18th March 2013 )Great food, great value and lovely staff. A group of four of us left absolutely stuffed and raving about each and every course we'd enjoyed - we will definitely be back soon!
Fade Street Social - The GastroBar restaurant

Reviewed 12th September 2014 ( visited 04th September 2014 )Got the tapas and bottle of wine voucher for The Gastro Bar and the food did not disappoint, it was delicious. Its expensive but i'd definitely go back for a special occasion. The only negative was that we were told the voucher covered approx 30 euros worth of tapas each, if it cost 33 each that was fine too. The tapas we chose came to approx 33 each. But when the bill came, we were charged for one tapa each, so that the voucher actually only covered approc 28 euros worth of tapas each. Otherwise an amazingly tasty night was had!

Fade Street Social - The GastroBar

Was a bit disappointed with the menu and food in the restaurant. I'd heard so many great things about this place but to be honest none of us (a group of 4) were overly impressed. The service was very good though. Maybe we will try the tapas menu another time, but i doubt any of us will be returning to the restaurant.
19 Lower Camden Street, Dublin 2, Camden Street, Dublin
I really enjoyed the moroccan spiced lamb with cous cous. My friends didn't enjoy their meals however and the staff never approached once during the meal to check that everything was ok. Also, the water we asked for never arrived, until we asked for it again at the first opportunity - which was when we were already finished our dinner and wine and the waitress came back to clear our table. It'd been a while since i was in Green19 and the poor service doesn't make me want to rush back again anytime soon.
Unit 410, First Floor, Blanchardstown Retail Park 2, Dublin 15, Blanchardstown, Dublin
I come in here frequently, as its quick, healthy and handy after work. The service is always friendly and helpful. The food is always delicious, granted i never really know what i'm ordering. The menu could really benefit from "chilli" symbols beside hot dishes, and perhaps a "heart" symbol for the lower fat options. The staff can be a little slow to replenish glasses of water, so beware if you are eating a hot dish!
39 Castlewood Avenue, South Dublin , Rathmines, Dublin
Came in here yesterday evening for dinner on a friend's recommendation, and was not disappointed!! There is a great atmosphere, with the chefs cooking all the food right there in front of you, while flipping knives and throwing eggs around. Very impressed and i can't wait to return very soon.
Arc Cafe Bar
Liffey Vallley Shopping Centre, Fonthill Rd, West Dublin, Liffey Valley, Dublin
This restaurant offers really fabulous food!! Popped in here recently as it was handy for Liffey Valley and i ordered the shepherd's pie with peas. It was absolutely amazing!! I really couldn't fault it. My partner had the lamb shank which i tasted and i think i will have to order it for myself on our return, as it was gorgeous too!! The eating area is very cosy and comfortable. I can't wait to go back!
Wrights Anglers Rest
Strawberry Beds, West Dublin, Dublin 20, Chapelizod, Dublin
Stopped by this restaurant after a busy day Christmas shopping, and was delighted to get a table near the open fire. The interiors are very traditional and cosy. I had the chicken breast for main, which was delicious. The only downside was that there wasn't much veg with it, and the prices are a little too high. Otherwise a really good experience though.
12-14 Upper Rathmines Road, Rathmines, Dublin
Came in here last Sunday evening as a group of 8. We had no problem getting a table big enough as the pub is huge. The Christmas decorations are gorgeous and the staff are really helpful and friendly. I had the turkey and ham dinner, which was gorgeous!! There were no complaints from my friends who had fish and chips/nachos/roast chicken/steak burger/chicken wings and there wasn't a scrap left between us. The deserts went down well too, as did the yummy Irish coffees. This is a lovely spot for a drink, with really good food - not just your regular pub grub fare. I'd highly recommend a visit!
Lunch! Calzone Cafe
63 South William Street, South William Street, Dublin
I popped in here on a busy Saturday afternoon to get some lunch to-go, while out doing some shopping. The staff were very efficient and the place was wedged, which is always a good sign. I got a "healthy wrap" (roasted veg, hummus, pesto in a toasted wrap) and a cup of tea. The wrap was pretty big, and very tastey - it was more than enough to fill me up! The cup of tea was very large, compared to what you get in most places for the same price. I will definitely be back for a tastey, healthy bite to eat when i'm in town.
Soho Bar and Restaurant
77 Grand Parade, Cork City, Cork
I ate here last Sunday night with 3 friends. Some of the group had the EB menu, which was fantastic value at €25 for 3 generous sized courses and tea/coffee. I skipped the starter and went for the prawn main course. I asked for the prawns without the batter and our waitress was more than happy to accommodate me. It was absolutely gorgeous. I shared the Baileys parfait for desert which was lovely and light, but delicious. The decor is more suited to a nightclub than a restaurant and if this place hadn't come on a recommendation i might have left on looks alone. Don't be put off however, the food is superb!!
The Black Olive Restaurant
32 Ballymahon Street, Longford Town, Longford
I stopped here for dinner when passing through Longford, knowing nothing about it. I was pleasantly surprised. The service was great - the waitresses were all very friendly and attentive. I had soup of the day for starters (courgette and spinach) which was delicious. I had the duck for mains, which came with red cabbage, and i also ordered a side of veg. There was a lot of duck so i struggled to finish it - but it was really good.
Torc Café and Food Hall
New Street, Longford Town, Longford
I stopped here for a coffee and cake when passing through Longford. There weren't many other customers in it at the time. The selection of cakes/buns on offer was really disappointing - it seems to be more of a sweet shop. The service was pretty bad - the lady behind the counter couldn't have been more sour if she tried. It seemed i was being a burden by ordering a coffee and asking for a receipt! I won't rush back.
The Downhill Inn Restaurant & Hotel
Sligo Road, Ballina, Mayo
I stayed here recently for work so dined alone in the restaurant. There was a big crowd of tourists dining at the same time, so the atmosphere was quite good. The service was fantastic - the waiters ensured i wanted for nothing. I had the salmon for my main course. It was really good and really big! It came with a generous portion of potatoes and veg. I had the profiteroles and ice cream for desert. Again, the portion size was generous and they tasted great.
La Bodega Tapas y Vinos
93 Ranelagh Village, Dublin 6 , Ranelagh, Dublin
I love love love this restaurant!! I ate here on a Thursday eve with a friend, without a reservation and we were lucky to get a table - it was jammers. I had the prawns, bruschetta and goats cheese salad - the bruschetta was a little bland, the prawns were cooked to perfection and the goats cheese salad was the best i have ever tasted - absolutely delicious!! I cannot wait to come back here again soon. Its the perfect spot to meet a few friends and have a good laugh over some great food.
Superquinn Shopping Centre, Dublin 15, Blanchardstown, Dublin
Really not a fan of this restaurant. I had the EB option here recently, and though the starter (sweet potato soup) was lovely, the main was bland and dull. The restaurant had a fair few other customers in it, yet the atmosphere was non-existent.
Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK Temple Bar)
Unit 1, Temple Bar Square, Dublin 2 , Temple Bar, Dublin
Got the buy one get one free offer here last night. I had a veg and camembert burger, while my friend had the cajun beef burger. They were massive!! We shared a side order of chips which were absolutely gorgeous!! I admit i wouldn't have considered going here without the vouchers, but now i've been converted - they have a fantastic range to suit all tastes, and you can even get the burger without the bun (you get extra salad instead). They regularly have other great deals on as well so its fantastic value for a meal.
Chez Max (Palace Street)
1 Palace Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
My two friends and I had dinner here on a Sat eve recently. We sat out the back in the smoking area (for my friend's benefit), which was ok, but probably lacking the same atmoshphere as a seat inside offers. I had the duck for main, while both friends had the steak. All were delicious, though the duck was a little fatty in places. I had creme brulee for desert, which was gorgeous. It's a little expensive so i'd probably only return for a special occasion.
Le Bon Crubeen
81-82 Talbot Street, Dublin 1, City Centre North, Dublin
My boyfriend and i ate here last Tuesday evening. The place was wedged and we could only get seats at the bar. We didn't mind this - it just goes to show how popular it is. So be sure to book in advance if you want a proper table! We shared a starter of sourdough bread with homemade dips - delicious!! I had the goats cheese and veg tart for main, with salad leaves. It was really lovely but i thought it could have done with more goats cheese. My boyfriend had the taglietelle, which he said was really tastey. They offer some great wines by the glass to go with your meal. Love this restaurant and i'm planning my return visit already.
@ Murphy Bros Bar, CLARE ST, Ballina, Ballina, Mayo
I had the cod for dinner here last Sunday evening. It was quite nice and tastey, though a little dry. The portion size was very generous and the service was great, although we were left without water for a long time. My friends loved their meals (they each had 3 courses). The restaurant was pretty full and so it had a great atmoshphere. The decor is fabulous! Overall, this is a really good spot, so i will definitely be back.
92 Terenure Road North, Dublin 6W, Terenure, Dublin
Dropped in here for some dinner on a Sunday evening. There was a really good crowd but we managed to get a nice table by the window upstairs. I had a waldorf salad, which was really light and tastey. My boyfriend had a pizza which was delicous too. The service was prompt and friendly. We will be back soon :)
Blackglen Road, Sandyford, Dublin
I went here for an indian meal with a group of friends recently. The service is really friendly and quick, and the food delicious. This is only the second indian meal i have had in Lamb Doyle's but some of my friends have been many more times, and none of us could find a bad word to say about it. We will definitely be back, and soon!
94-96 Terenure Road, Dublin 6 , Terenure, Dublin
Ate here on a Sunday evening, using my menupoints to avail of 1 free starter and 1 free main (with 1 starter and 1 main purchased). The restaurant was quite empty, but that was the only negative. The service was excellent, and the food delicious. The bill was pretty reasonable too, with this menupoints offer.
Port House Pintxo
12 Eustace Street, Dublin 2, Temple Bar, Dublin
I stopped in here for something quick to eat before the cinema on Saturday evening. I had the piri piri prawns and a tomato salad, which was really tastey. I also had a glass of white wine, which was very good. They offer a really good selection of wines by the glass. The service was quick and attentive. There was a good lively crowd, so there was a lovely warm atmosphere. I will definitely be coming back here soon!!
109, O'Connell St, Limerick City, Limerick
I had dinner here recently and was well impressed. I got a started (goats cheese quesilladas), a main (baked mediteranean seabass with a salad) and a coffee for €17.50. The food was delicious and the portions very generous. The service was very good and the place was really busy for a Monday evening. I can't wait to return and try more of the enticing menu!!
Henry Street, Limerick City, Limerick
I had Sunday lunch here - 3 courses for €25, which i think is fantastic value. I had the duck spring rolls to start, the catch of the day (cod fillet with the nicest mashed potatoes i've had in a long long time) and a chocolate, vanilla and hazelnut slice for desert, which had whole hazelnuts in it, and was absolutely gorgeous. The service was very good and attentive. The wine selection (by the glass) is really good and varied. I can't wait to return to this top notch restaurant!!
49-50 Thomas Street, Limerick City, Limerick
Dropped in Sat eve for some lovely tapas. I had the battered cod and a goat's cheese salad - it was very tastey. There was a good crowd and a good buzz in the pub as well.
No 1 Fade Street, Off Georges's Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
I went here for dinner on Arthur's Day. After the horrible weather and mayhem on the streets of the city, my boyfried and i were so relieved to find the atmosphere in this restaurant so peaceful, relaxed and welcoming. Our food was delicious and the waiter recommended both a beautiful wine and a refreshing beer, which kept us both happy! Our only regret was that we had no room to try deserts!! We will definitely be returning soon!!
Harry Street, St Stephens Green, Dublin
Popped in here for dinner on a Saturday evening, with my menupages points voucher for a free starter, main and desert. The decor is quite nice but there is very much a cafe-feeling/vibe, and it can get pretty noisey when its busy - not ideal for a romantic evening, or a quiet chat. The food was okay, but to be honest there is much better to be had at much better prices elsewhere in the city. If i didn't have the menupages voucher, the bill would have been ridiculously high for the standard of the food we were served. Also, the wine selection is pretty poor and again, very over-priced. The waiters/waitresses were very friendly though. Unfortunately i won't be back.
208 Lower Rathmines Road, Dublin 6, Rathmines, Dublin
Came in here just as they were opening early on a Sunday evening, and ordered a Sophia Loren pizza. It was the best and most authentic Italian pizza i had tasted in a long time. The menu is very reasonably priced, and the interiors are lovely also. I'd recommend this restaurant to couples or groups, as its cosy and relaxed. I can't wait to go back very soon!!
L'Officina by Dunne And Crescenzi (Dundrum)
Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin
I came in here one Tuesday evening recently before going to the cinema. The service was fast and the food was gorgeous. I had bruschetta to start, which was covered in an abundance of fresh tomatoes - it was so fresh and tastey for a warm Summer's evening. I had the goats cheese salad for mains which was served with bread (which wasnt mentioned in the menu). I was stuffed leaving!! The food is very reasonably priced and tastey. I can't wait to go back!!
66/67 Great South Georges Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin
Such a disappointment. I had heard great things about this restaurant, and the menu looked fantastic, but the service and some aspects of the meal let it down, badly. I had booked a table for 6 here last Saturday, for 7.30pm. We waited a good 20 minutes to order our meals. The starters came out promptly but then we had to wait over an hour for the mains. When the mains were eventually ready, only 5 were brought out, so one of our party had to wait a further 5 minutes for his dinner. We were in the restuarant for over 3 hours in total!! Two of us had the salmon main, which was full of bones. I feel this should have been pointed out to us at the time of ordering. The creme fraiche/lemon sauce served on the salmon was awful. My stomach turned with every bite, and i couldnt finish it. I won't be returning to this restuarant and i certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Bijou Bistro & Wine
46/47 Highfield Road, Dublin 6, Rathgar, Dublin
Dropped in here on a Sunday afternoon with my boyfriend recently. The restaurant looks lovely, the interiors are lovely and modern yet cosey. The service was a little robotic and unfriendly. The food was very nice but a little over-priced.
19 Lower Camden Street, Dublin 2, Camden Street, Dublin
Myself and my boyfriend ate here last Thursday evening for the second time. We wandered in off the street with no reservation and were so relieved to find they had a table available upstairs. We had the most delicious carrot and coriander soup to start - amazing!! I had the duck for main while my boyfriend had the pork. Both were fantastic and massive too - we were full to bursting point when we were leaving. The mains are all only a tenner which is just nuts (in a good way). LOVE this rstaurant!!!
13 Dame Court, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin
I just love this restaurant!! The food is always delicious and the staff are always extremely friendly and helpful without being overbearing. I can't recommend it highly enough!!
South Street Restaurant
Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
I ate here one Saturday evening recently with a friend, because the restaurant we had hoped to get into was fully booked. It looked nice from outside;, clean and cosy. But the waiter was distant and a little rude when serving us. I had a salmon dish while my friend had a pasta dish. Both were bland and not much better than the average Joe's cooking. I wouldn't return to this place and I definitely wouldn't recommend it.
The Bull & Castle and F.X. Buckley Steakhouse
5-7 Lord Edward Street, Christchurch, Dublin 8, City Centre South, Dublin
I was so disappointed with this place as i am a HUGE fan of FXB restaurants and i absolutely love all the other branches of the restaurant in the city. The food we got here was tastey, but absolutely tiny and well over-priced. If this had been my first FXB experience i would never have tried the actual restaurants. I won't be returning to the Bull and Castle again, im afraid.
71-72 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
This is a pretty good restaurant. I went for a meal here a few weeks back with my boyfriend. I got sushi for starters, and he got crispy prawn skewers. We shared both, and both were delicious! The mains we ordered (noodle dishes) were a little bland, but absolutely huge and full of large pieces of seafood and veg. It wasnt expensive either. I'd def recommend this lovely spot, and i will def be returning very soon!
Jaipur Restaurant (Ongar)
Unit 35 and 39, Main Street, Ongar village, Dublin 15, Clonee, Dublin
I ate here again very recently, this time from the earlybird menu. The food was delicous and i was absolutely stuffed to the gills for just €20. The staff are quiet but polite and accomodating. I will be returning again soon.
95 Terenure Road North, South Dublin, Terenure, Dublin
I ate here a few weeks back, and on the merit of that visit, i won't be returning. Though the food was tasty, the service left a LOT to be desired. I ordered pilau rice but was given boiled. We were then asked to leave our table as soon as our mains were finished (without being offered a dessert menu) to accommodate the growing crowd at the door, even though I had half a glass of wine left. The staff were unfriendly and a little rude to be honest. There are way too many restaurants in Dublin where I can go and be treated with respect, so I won't be coming back to this place and I wouldn't recommend it either.
81 Terenure Road North, South Dublin, Terenure, Dublin
I ate here over the weekend, and came away very full and happy! The garlic bread I had for starters was not your typical two slices, but an entire baguette! It was covered in melted cheese and was just yummy! I had a pasta dish (fettuccine metro), which was really big also, and very nicely flavoured. The waiting staff were very attentive and polite, and the food was gorgeous with much larger portions than most Italian restaurants in the city would serve. I definitely recommend this place!
Howards Way (Rathgar)
8 Orwell Road, Dublin 6, Rathgar, Dublin
Really liked this place although the menu is very limited. There was only one dish I fancied (a pasta dish) and there were capers in it. I asked the waitress could I leave them out and she said I could have anything else in their place instead, so I went with chicken. I was impressed at their willingness to please, and the food was really tasty. The portion sizes were very generous too! Would def return here..
236 Lower Rathmines Road, Dublin 6, Rathmines, Dublin
I met friends here for a late lunch on Saturday and got a nice seat by the window - great for watching the world go by. I had an omelette while my friends had various toasted ciabattas with chips. Everything was delicious!! The service was excellent - our waitress was so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.
3 Temple Bar, Temple Bar, Dublin
I went to this restaurant recently with my boyfriend and we weren't disappointed. I had the pasta and salmon dish and he had the calzone pizza. Both were delicious, the staff were efficient, the prices were reasonable and the place was buzzing, with a lot of Italians I might add. He returned there with a friend this week, and both had the calzone pizza again. No complaints to make here and I will def return again soon.
1 Lower Fownes Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin
Went to this restaurant on my work Christmas do last year. We had the raised platform in the corner (which is cordoned off by a curtain) and a table beside it. It’s really comfy on all the cushions, and very much a chill out zone. The food was nice (though not really to my taste), but everyone found the portions to be quite small and the menu misleading. It’s quite expensive for what you get, but overall it was enjoyable, as it was something different. Prob wouldn't return though, to be honest.
Ryan's & F.X. Buckley Steakhouse Parkgate Street
28 Parkgate Street, Dublin 8, City Centre South, Dublin
My boyfriend and I have become regulars at this place - we love it so much. You are guaranteed a great meal everytime, with very friendly efficient waiting staff. The food is delicious and the new early bird menu is really good value. I had the toad in the hole on this occasion, which was massive and so tastey. I look forward to returning again very soon.
Bad Ass Cafe
Crown Alley, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Really like this place when stuck for a bite to eat. The pasta dishes are really good and the pizzas too. It’s quite cheap. The old fashioned interiors are quite charming. Overall it’s a relaxed, laid back cafe with some good quality grub for small prices.
Clonsilla Village, Dublin 15, Clonsilla, Dublin
Not a great Italian restaurant. Smells strongly of chips (and grease). Not very cozy, and the food was just alright. Won't return here and wouldn't recommend it either.
3a The Crescent Monkstown, South Co. Dublin, Monkstown, Dublin
Love this restaurant as the food is always fabulous. The decor isn’t great admittedly, since the refurbishment a few years ago. Still, for good quality food its def worth a try.
La Caverna Restaurant & Wine Bar
12 Fownes Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin
Had dinner here last night and was highly impressed. The quality of food and service (particularly for Temple Bar) was great! I had cheese stuffed garlic mushrooms for starters, which was gorgeous and fab duck on mash for main, which also comes with a serving of side salad (for free). My boyfriend had potato skins for starters and steak on mash (also with side salad) for main, which he gave 9/10 (and he’s fussy about his steaks!). I was also given 10% off the total price of the bill because I had booked the table online! On top of all that, the manager was even on hand to help us into our coats and walk us to the door. Love this place!! :)
