8A Brasserie restaurant
8A The Crescent, Monkstown, Monkstown, Dublin, Area Code:
Reviewed 17th December 2016 ( visited 16th December 2016 )Wow. It\'s been a long time since I had shush a positive reaction to a restaurant. They got absolutely everything right. The first thing the you notice is the beautiful decor and atmosphere. The staff are so warm and friendly with out being too intrusive. The food was great and served on time and hot. And they had a fantastic musician playing some lovely easy listing songs on the guitar. I simply loved this place. The only thing that could make it better is. Wider choice if vegetarian dishes. But that\'s my only gripe with the place. The management should be so proud of what they have done here.
Campo de' Fiori Bistro Market restaurant
1 Albert Avenue, Bray, Co. Wicklow, Bray, Wicklow
Reviewed 30th September 2011 ( visited 24th September 2011 )I have previously named this restaurant on Menu pages as one of my favorites. However after my last experience I will never return to it again. We had a booking for 9:30 and it was close to 11 before recieved our main courses (two of which were badly burnt). When we complained to the hostess we were told bluntly this was our fault because we were late sitting down. This despite the fact that we arrived at 9;30 on the dot (the time for our reservation) and the table was not ready and we were seated at the bar. 2 of our party arrived at 9:25 and were sent away and told to come back in 20 minutes which they did. So if we were late sitting ot was not our fault and more down to the fact that this restaurant has a two sittings a night policy which means they cant manage tables as efficently as they should. What was most disturbing about this restaurant visit was that one senior member of the management even came to our table in quite an intimidating manner and demanded to know why we complained. This created a spectacal and was most unwelcome. six of us will never return to this restaurant.
Prezzo- Liffey Valley
Restaurant 2 Ground Floor, Western End Rotunda, Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, Clondalkin, Dublin
Nice quality restaurant . Very welcoming and professional staff. Great menu with vegetarian options a plenty and clearly marked. I had bruschetta started which was lovely. Goats cheese pizza was a little disappointing. Lacking in any flavour in both the sauce and base which tasted like cardboard.. my partner had exactly the same response to his pizza too.. I\'m hoping this was just a bad day for them as there was so much to like about this place.

The Vanilla Pod Eatery
The Iveagh Mall, The Park, South Dublin, Carrickmines, Dublin
This place is always busy. Lines of people out the door sometimes, So I expected something really amazing and was a little disappointed. I ordered the Vegetarian burger which was a very dry chickpea affair that fell to pieces and had to be eaten with a fork. it was a little bland and I found myself eating the chips and leaving most of it behind. I wish the taste and eating experience had been thought out a bit more and the trendy presentation a little less. Service is on balance good but a bit over familiar and waiters shout out the orders as they bring them to the table if there is a large group.. "Who's having the Veggie burger?, Veggie Burger?? Whose having the Veggie Burger?, anyone??" and so on for each persons order.. I hate this in restaurants it shows no class or skill as a server. If I was in a diner in the New York it might be cute, but in the Park Carrickmines its annoying. Over all not bad, but not worth the wait in line at the door and over crowed space once in the restaurant.. I think when its not busy it might be nice for a coffee and a slice of cake..
Mamma Mia Cafe
Aubrey Court, Parnell Road, Bray, Bray, Wicklow
Really nice little restaurant. great Italian food. Real veggie options. (ie The parmesan cheese did not have Animal rennet in in) The food is quite homely and rustic.. nothing "Nouveau" going on here, but that's just fine with me. I was there with 3 friends for my birthday and there was just one other table which is a shame because it really should be packed every night.. I hope it continues to survive, bray can be tough on restaurants.. I'd recommend it to anyone..

You simply can't go wrong in Wagamamma's the food is always freshly maid and to a high standard. its always consistent and you can feel secure if you order the vegetarian option that it is in fact vegetarian. I'd eat here every day if my waist line would let me.. Service is always spot on and friendly with out being over the top "Give me a tip" friendly. We sat beside a south African family who raved about their meal as did we.. Yum!

Wow.. Loved loved, loved this Restaurant.. Fantastic service.. just the right balance of friendliness and distance.. the tables are booth style round tables which I love as its so much more social. The cocktails are pricey but really nice and the foos is spectacular.. I'm vegetarian and what really impressed me was the waiter was able to reassure me that their veggie option for the Thai Green curry had no fish or shrimp paste or oyster sauce with out me having to even ask.. this is not the norm in Irish restaurants and was really appreciated.. My self and my friends had a wonderful experience and Id recommend it to any one, especially if your vegetarian. I'll be back..
Siam Thai (Dundrum)
Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin
Really disappointed in my last visit to this restaurant which had been one of my favourites (see previous reviews) I called ahead of time to make sure they could do a Vegetarian option for me (lately I've discovered a lot of restaurants think that simply putting in veg instead of meat or fish or chicken makes it veggie.. ignoring the other ingredients and what's in them) the person on the phone told me emphatically that they can and have Vegetarian alternatives to most of their main courses. I was almost ready to take that on face value when I asked do the sauces in these Veggie alternatives use fish or shrimp paste.. Yes it does have fish paste and theat they can't make with out because they make all their sauces in the morning.. this is something that I've encountered a lot recently.. restaurants not knowing their own menu and miss advising patrons only revealing animal product in their supposed Veggie option when pressed by 20 questions. However I was assured they could make me a veggie option when I was there. I arrived for the booking with my friend and asked what vegetarian options they had and again was told they could do a vegetarian Thai green curry or indeed any of the main courses with Tofu.. Is there Shrimp or fish paste in the sauces? "Yes".. pressed on what they could offer that was Veggie I was presented with stir fry veg in salt (for real!).. and would I like pepper on it too? I was speech less. this from a modern restaurant.. After going through the same set or questions with a manager, They agreed to make a thai green curry with out fish paste. which was really nice.. and appreciated. what wasn't appreciated was the 20 question pre order I had to do to get to a point where I trusted what I was eating was vegetarian. It's not pleasant for the server and really uncomfortable for me. This restaurant used to be my favourite. but I now realise that in my past visits when I trusted the menu and wait staff that I was eating vegetarian I was not.

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant.. It looks beautiful.. really funky and trendy with a great bar area and a New York/London feel and the cocktails are fantastic.. Service is really good and well meaning but not very knowlegable about their product. Two of the 3 Veggie Burger options use Parmasean cheese, but neither the waitress (who was lovely), front of house (who was lovely) or apparently the chef could tell me if it was Vegetiarian cheese (not made using Animal Rennet). This is basic stuff.. if the chef doesnt know if the cheese he is using is Vegeterian that shows a basic lack of understanding of their own menu and customers. Because they couldnt tell me if it was veggie it left me really with only one burger option which did say Vegan cheese. This burger was dry and tasteless and completley forgetable and didnt even come with chips. Ive had better Linda McCartney burgers.. in fact I wouldnt be surprised if it was a Linda McCartney patty My friends had meat burgers and were a little confused that the staff didnt know where the meat had been sourced and even more disapointed when the burger came out buried in dressings and cheese. For a restaurant that is called Box Burger it should make the Burger the hero.. the consistent comments Ive heard from friends about this place (and bourne out by my visit) is that the burgers are so so.. thats such a missed opportunity. I really want this restaurant to be better and to succeed.. it looks amazing and I want to be a regular, but the style over substance experience I had won't have me coming back on a regular basis. One last gripe... Their wine list has completley inaccurate descriptions of some of the wines.. evident when we compared the label on the bottle to the wine menu. a pain when you order what appears to be a Chrisp dri citrius wine and a Fruity sweet peach wine comes out.. I hope its just teething problems, and again the staff were lovely...
Platform Pizza Bar
7 Strand Road, Bray, Co.Wicklow, Bray, Wicklow
Great little restaurant. Always busy but service is great. Food is simple and tasty. Veggie options clearly flagged. They were able to tell me that their pizza mozzarella was made with non animal rennet but their tomato and mozzarella uses non veggie cheese. Great addition to the bray restaurant scene. Only gripe is a minor one. Which is when you arrive there is a long line at the door. In November it's cold and you end up waiting in the crafty doorway for awhile and it sometimes takes a while before you are acknowledged by the head waiter. But that is generally forgotten when the food arrives.
Pembroke District, Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14 , Dundrum, Dublin
really disappointed in my recent visit to Jamies Italian restaurant in dundrum. I'm vegetarian and the selection on the menu was so poor. It reminded me of the bad old days in the 80s when restaurants had no veggie options at all. There were no symbols on the menu to indicate if some thing was vegan or even vegetarian. So I had to go thru each option that looked like it might be veggie with the waiter and ask what about this one or that one. Really annoying. One waiter assured me that the pumpkin pasta dish was totally veggie. While the next when I came to order it told me it wasn't because of the ricotta and Parmesan used animal rennet They said they could try make a main made up of the nibbles on the menu if I wanted. Seriously! The only thing in the end that seemed safe to eat was the spicy arrabbiata which was so over spiced that there was no taste from it at all except chillies. I asked if the fries were veggie, No they are fried in same oil as fish and squid. What about the roast potatoes? No they are also fried in that same oil before roasted. Not veggie or even remotely healthy. Even the margarita pizza used cheese with animal rennet .. It seems sad that of all the restaurants in dundrum I go to on a regular basis that Jamie Oliver's failed so dismally to offer a vegetarian option or even flag it on your menu out side the door so I could choose not to go in in the first place and have staff who clearly don't know their menu and gave totally conflicting advice.. Poor show. I won't be back until the restaurant gets its act together with regard to vegetarians. Or maybe there is a chef snobbery at play here ala Gordon Ramsey who refused to recognise vegetarians.
Sanam Tandoori (Wicklow)
19 Castle Street Shopping Centre, Bray, Wicklow
Worst customer service ever. Ordered a take away for delivery at 7:30. It turned up at 9:20. Despite calling them at 8:30 to be told it left 5 mins ago and driver is just there.. We opened the delivery which was cold and completely wrong. We had to drive down and ask for our money back. This was once a great little restaurant. But I can't abide being blatantly lied to about when a food delivery is due.. I'll never use them again

The food here is not spectacular, but for what it is it is really tasty and always good quality and is to a very high standard. Service alwasy comes with a polite smile. Plenty of Vegetiaran Options and the place is really well situated. Handy for coffee and a cake or Lunch with a friend after a bit of shopping.. Does excatly what it says on the tin! Highly recommended.
Alexis Bar And Grill
17 / 18 Patrick Street, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin
This is a Bistro that really has ideas beyond it's station. My opinion is it needs to get the basics right before it puts itself in the same league as a Gordon Ramsey, or Garry Rhodes establishment.. which it clearly does according to the staff. In a visit there with my family last night I found it almost impossible to get a Vegetarian option. The closest they could offer was penne pasta without the bacon. In fairness if I wanted Penne pasta I wouldnt bother going to a restaurant, I'd boil a pot of water myself. I was told by not just one of the serving staff, but by three, that the Chef and owner didn't believe in doing Vegetarian options and I was one of several people who had complained recently but what could they do? it was his place. One staff member told me they though if I had such a demand I should have though twice before coming to that restaurant and should have found another restaurant because the policy was not to go to that much trouble for such a minority. Appaling that this is the policy of this restaurant in this day and age, even worse that the staff so clearly and bluntly communicate it. I think this Bistro, described on "Menu pages" as Cheap eats and as having Vegetarian options, needs to realise its a "Bistro" in Patrick St, Dun laoire, Not a michelin star restaurant in Paris. After the staff making a big deal of it and totally effecting my evening out with my family, I was given a very average wild mushroom rissotto (which is a side from a rabbit main dish) and some over cooked veg and tasteless spring rolls. What was presented to me was sub standard and did not represent fine dining, good service or most importanly good tasty food. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone based on the attitude they displayed or the food they served
Howards Way (Rathgar)
8 Orwell Road, Dublin 6, Rathgar, Dublin
Disapointing to say the least. I went to this restaurant with a friend on here recomendation and expected a good standard. The restaurant it self looks nice , if a little small. It was was totally empty when we arrived at 8:00 on a thursday and the waiter who met us made a face when we said we didn't have a reservation. he left us stand for a few minutes to return to say he could squeeze us in. the menu was basic. i had checked out the website to see if it had veggie options (me) and the web site suggested 2. the menu on our table offered only one. A curry. We ordered soup as starter and it was lovely. My friends main course arrived, steak and chips with a chips side. She was anoyed becuase when she ordered the waiter did not tell her it already came with chips when she ordered the side dish. A few minutes my veggie curry arrived with chicken thru out. I called the waiter and sent it back. he told me it was a small mistake.. Not in my opinion. minutes later the curry arrived. It was served in a soup bowl and had a small side of rice. I can only discribe it as curry soup. Difficult to eat with a fork. I didn’t finish it. I simply couldn't. (a first for me!!). A new waiter noticed i had not touched my meal and offered me a free desert. I declined. we paid and left with out anyone in this small restaurant bidding us good night, even though the head waiter was beside the door.. There are so many better restaurants out there.. who go here .
73 Main Street, Bray, Wicklow
In this day and age it's really rare that a restaurant has almost no vegetarian options, But Shelby's is that restaurant. 2 veggie options (the main course a Mexican omlette), no Vegan options... The most they could offer me was some VERY basic diced veg stir fried in olive oil. Reminded me of restaurants in the 80's. I thought we had come a long way since then, not in this part of Bray it seems. The menu is expensive, €114 for 2 people with one bottle of wine, bare in mind one dish was simple stir-fry veg. the wine selection Basic (long Mountain @ over €30) the decor is perfect and the service in places was great.. And this place has the potential to be great... We visited on a Thursday... by 9:50 the waitress was sweeping up around our table... Not very classy... This place puts it self in the same price bracket as some places in the city... it is very very far from the quality and I would suggest they reduce their prices, improve their menu selection and train their staff and then they could have a great little restaurant in Bray... from my experience last night.. I won’t be rushing back.
Ragazzi Italian Ristorante
109 Coliemore Road, South Co. Dublin, Dalkey, Dublin
This is by far my favorite restaurant in Dublin. The food is great but what makes it is the welcome at the door, the style and personality of the service and management and the great simple but wonderful wines. I've never had a bad time at this restaurant. The owners are the most interesting people and it's clear they have a passion about being Hosts to their guests. Check it out it's not expensive but you need to book as it’s often packed. I'm going again this week end and I can't wait...
Ciao Bella Roma
24/25 Parliament Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin
This is a really great little restaurant. The Pizza is fantastic, really authentic. and the special is the best value in town. Under 9€ starter pizza and glass of wine!! The staff are efficent, but a little lacking in personality. However I would Highly recomend this restaurant. It's the perfect place to meet up with an old friend or a casual get together before the cinema or pub.
