Best Mexican I've had in Dublin. Lovely friendly staff, nice no frills setup with a good atmosphere. The food is great witha nice array of choices and customisation. Good selection of well priced bottled beer. A place where you can get beer and spicy food is very welcome in my book.

Lovely food. My black pudding and blue cheese omelette was great. Have previously had a duck based special also lovely. Nice wines and a great selection of french lemonades. Lovely french singer on radio, think it was Cara Bruni. The decor is fantastic, eclectic and very comfortable. Service isnt fast but is pleasant and suited to the atmosphere. This is not a spot for a quick cup of coffee, but then that's how I found it and despite not getting my coffee served for longer than I would want in most cases. I made a point of coming back for a proper sit down there.

The Larder Restaurant
8 Parliament Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Had a nice sunday brunch here. Laid back atmosphere good for curing the head from the night before. Food is tasty but not amazing, the Lamb burger was my choice and is good for lamb lovers like myself. Desert was lovely, raspberry and whit choc cheesecake. The wine is good but a little expensive per glass I feel although unfortunately not unusally so.

The Cedar Tree
11a St Andrews Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Very tasty, the mezze is great but even the smaller early bird version could feed 3 people! Lovely staff and nice decor and atmosphere, feels like a real family place. The lebanese wine is quite nice too. Good for vegetarians.

Cornucopia
19/20 Wicklow Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Very tasty veggie fare which suited even me a devout meat eater. Large portions but not exactly cheap considering meat is often the most expensive part of a meal, not to say I felt hard done by. Was lovely and full and happy. Nice laid back atmosphere.

Botticelli
3 Temple Bar, Temple Bar, Dublin

Food was dull and we really could have made better at home (we are not particularly great cooks.) Decor nothing special. Very poor value only saving grace was the wine which was not cheap but nice. Very poor value given quality. Same dull salad with all dishes and pizza was no better than a good frozen one from tesco.

Little Sicily - Cavan
Newcourt Centre, Church Street, Cavan Town, Cavan

I had the tagliatelli Piedmontese and my partner had the alfredo vegetarian. It was nice but when it arrived it seemed to have been microwaved or warmed up, dry on the top and the sauce was starting to develop a skin. Once mixed up it was fine but not an encouraging sight. Service was poor. We were handed to very worn menu pieced together with sellotape and never checked on during meal despite being two of only a handful of diners. Espresso was not an espresso more of an americano. The whole decor is very drab and dated, I doubt its ever been redone since the place was opened which is a long time. The music was awful and too loud. The food deserved better surrounds even though it was nothing special. Little Sicily is coasting it.

Cactus Jacks (Middle Abbey St)
Millennium Walkway, Middle Abbey Street, City Centre North, Italian Quarter, Dublin

Food is fine but not great. Quite enjoyed my Burrito but my partner did not enjoy her chili con carne. Value for a lunch is good and so is the early bird.

Metro Cafe
43 South William Street, South William Street, Dublin

Ate there with a friend most recently, although have been many many times. Sitting on the street seating on a nice day is lovely. They assumed we were a couple and brought his cheesecake with two forks. Quite amusing, nice to see they are so encouraging to daters! Food is great generally I have had a few time that it was not up to par but mostly it is and when good it is lovely, the special sandwiches are always good and great coffee.

The Port House
64a South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Service was very slow, nearly half an hour there and we had not been served. Too dark, I see the atmosphere they are going for a but just a bit more light would be very welcome. Very nice setting and atmosphere otherwise. Food was quite nice but not amazing, portions could have been better, selection of meats and cheeses had too much cheese and very little meat. Was not full leaving despite paying 17e including one beer.

Yamamori Izakaya
12/13 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

The congee was cold and pretty unappetising. There was a mix up as I am allegice to shellfish but they were excellent in dealing with it and very friendly and accomodating. The food really let down the lovely staff and surrounds. Had dumpling which was not impressive at all. Miso was quite nice. My dining partner had oriental duck which she was not impressed with either. We both agreed a return visit was unlikely

Zaytoon (Parliament Street)
14/15 Parliament Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Alwasy excellent. The fresh veg makes the kebab. I could eat their red cabbage all day. For a carnivore I love the veggie kebab too. falafel would be a nice addition though. Only downside is that they dont really get a chance to take on board any serving requests like "feckloads more red cabbage and a pickled chili le do thoil" but I cant complain! If only beer was available!

L'Ecrivain Restaurant
109a Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

The food was fabulous with some lovely appetisers in between courses. The vegetarian menu which my dining partner had was excellent and my choice sof Partridge and Venison were both really good. The desserts, mine the creme brulee hers the opera choclate were amazingly good. The kind of food you take a bite and have to stop and consider if this is possibly the most enjoybale sensation of your life! FAntastic wine for 50e Service great. Not cheap, by any standards but I think you could not say the quality did not match up to the price. I might have to save up for a return visit. Yann Tiersen playing in the background was a great touch,

Brasserie Sixty6
66/67 Great South Georges Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Went here for dinner with some friends I had not seen in a while. Great atmosphere and buzz really helped us to get back talking and having the craic like old times. I had the 3 styles Lamb, which was really good. Cooked to perfection and great quality lamb which is important as I'm a big fan of Lamb. Choclate brownie and an espresso were the perfect way to cap off the evening. The Pear and Almond tart which I had a fork of was also delicious. Wouldnt drink one myself but one of the girls raved about the gin martini.
