We had been to Marcel's on Mary rd a few times and loved it so thought it would be the perfect choice for a night out for 6. A mistake. The service was shocking, took about 30 minutes just to order drinks, it just seemed to be all over the place. The Italian head waiter was very nice but the others (there were about 10 other people came to our table throughout the night) just didn't care. 3 of our party got the chicken starter and they were all completely different portion sizes, the biggest was over twice the size of the smallest. We all got the steak, which in fairness was very good. However when we got the bill we had been charged for 8 steaks, there were 6 of us at the table. Not an easy mistake to make and it really spoiled the evening. We won't be rushing back which is a shame because I loved Marcel's in it's old home.

Kites
15/17 Ballsbridge Terrace, Dublin 4, Ballsbridge, Dublin

I've been to Kites many many times over the years and have always loved it, the food has never disappointed. But during our visit last weekend the food was the best it's ever been! Every single dish was unreal. I had the salt and chili monkfish for the first time which was outstanding. The service was fantastic, we loved the whole experience. It's not hard to see how this restaurant is packed out on a sunday evening!

Marcel's
13 Merrion Row , City Centre South, Dublin

Ate here with a friend last week for the first time. It's the perfect neighbourhood restaurant, We got the early bird which is fantastic value. I had the best sirloin steak I've ever had. Every part of the meal was delicious. Great wine list too. And the staff are brilliant. So friendly. I can't wait to go back to try the Sunday Lunch!

Tap House
60 Ranelagh, Ranelagh, Dublin

Went to the Tap House last night for the first time. Looking forward to going back already! We had the sliders and the only problem was once we had one we wanted 4 more each! The fillet steak crostini was delicious and we had to order another portion of sweet potato fries they were so good. The service was fantastic, the girls were so pleasant. and the space itself is very welcoming and cosy! We loved it.

Diep le Shaker
55 Pembroke Lane, (Off Pembroke Street), Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I have eatine in Diep many times before and it's consistently good and last night i went with a friend on a menupages voucher. I thought that the portions would be smaller or we would have a limited menu to choose from, but we had the full menu and the portion sizes were the same size as usual, there was no scrimping on anything and it was all delicious! We were both very impressed. Also, there was a little problem with the voucher but the manageress was incredibly nice and sorted it out. I have always loved Diep but love it even more now. Oh and there was a live band playing which was really great!

San Lorenzos
South Great Georges Street, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin

A friend told me to try San Lorenzo and I was so glad!! Had the prawns for starter....you'd get up in the middle of the night for them! Amazing. The others got the pork belly and crayfish bisque both of which were really good. I then had the chicken which may sound boring but again....amazing!!! And it's not often I get to say that about chicken. The others had veal (which I normally dislike but actually liked this) and the skate. There wasn't a scrap left on any of our plates! Great wine list too. Service was brilliant, the waiters and waitresses actually seemed to enjoy their jobs and were really interested in the food and wine! Loved it all, can't wait to go back!

Kinara Kitchen
17 Ranelagh Village, South Dublin, Ranelagh, Dublin

Went to Kinara Kitchen for the first time a few weeks ago for dinner. I loved everything about the place, from the room itself to the service to the food. We had the early bird which was amazing. I had the prawn curry which was delicious and the waiter very nicely adjusted the spices to my taste. I thought the menu was just started and main but then ice cream arrived out too. It was the perfect amount of food. Can't wait to go back.

Michie Sushi (Ranelagh)
11 Chelmsford Lane, Dublin 6, Ranelagh, Dublin

Can't wait to go here again! I had read reviews about this place and was really looking forward to trying it. From the outside I was a little bit wary as it doesn't look like anything special. The decor isn't anything to write home about but the waitress made up for that as she was so nice and helpful. Once we started to eat any misgivings were gone. The food is so good, so fresh and tasty. I ate far too much but still had to try the green tea creme brulee. And I'm really glad I did, it was delicious. When we arrived in there was only one other table full but by the time we were leaving it was filling up. I'm really looking forward to going back.

Ravi's Kitchen - duplicate
174 Pembroke Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Delicious! Brought my mum here for dinner last night and had a really great meal! She would be alot more experienced with Japanese food, been to Nobu and places like that and she loved it too. Portion sizes are great and so fresh. Really good value and lovely wine too! Service was really great. It was a pity it wasn't full, but I suppose it was a Tuesday night! They should take down the review that is in the hallway though as it's not a true representation of the food. Can't wait to go back!

Eatery 120
120 Ranelagh Road, Ranelagh, Dublin

Ate here for the first and last time on saturday night. I thought the menu was limited. I got the chicken and asked for it without the mushroom sauce, so thought I was going to get chicken, baby potatoes and leeks, however the girl never explained to me that the leeks were in the sauce, so I ended up with chicken and potatoes, for €23!! I am a huge dessert fan and anything with chocolate works for me but their chocolate fondant was dry and tasteless. The worst bit about the whole night though was when we were getting the bill, we were told that there was a €10 per person charge for the music, which to my mind was too intrusive anyway. I've never experienced any restaurant with this "cover charge". 4 starters,4 mains, one bottle of wine, 1 dessert and 3 coffees for €50 each was far too much considering that the food was only ok, the service not good and the only atmosphere was music that was too loud anyway! Such a pity cos it's in a great spot!

Chez Max (Palace Street)
1 Palace Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Brought my dad here for dinner on wednesday, it was a first time for both of us. It must be one of Dublins best kept secrets. It was brilliant. The atmosphere was lovely, like a real French bistro. THe food was delicious, you would get up in the middle of the night for the French Onion Soup! The staff were so nice. Couldn't fault it one bit. Can't wait to go back again!

China Sichuan
The Forum, Ballymoss Road, Dublin 18 , Sandyford, Dublin

I have been a regular at this restaurant since it opened, so about 20 years! It has always been delicious and the staff are wonderful, they even make a special dish for my gran! I look forward to every meal there. The monkfish in yellowbean sauce or sweet and sour is always a favourite!!!

Bahay Kubo
14 Bath Avenue, Sandymount, Sandymount, Dublin

Went here for the second time for my birthday a few weeks ago. Was a brilliant night. All the girls said it was the best birthday they had been to in ages. I think the food has improved too! The band are so great and the service is just fantastic, it's really homely! It's just a pity there were not more people there, I suppose it is holiday season. hopefully we will go back for our Christmas party!

Was here for the first time last Thursday. The restaurant was full but we only had to wait 10 minutes for a table. The service was great and very friendly, great choice of wine and the food was delicious! I will definitely be back here again!
