A great evening all round! The welcome was inviting and warm, the staff were attentive, very helpful, pleasant & cheerful. The food was close to divine, best crab claws I've tasted, ever! The monk-fish was too great not to finish! If there was any critique then it would have been the desserts, while they were good they were not as remarkable as the rest of the food! We will be back...

I've been here 4 times since it opened - what a gem! Staff could not have been nicer or more efficent. Nothing was too much trouble. The food is full of flavour & so tasteful. If your expecting your usual sweet & sour - give it a miss. Great location for the theatre. The decor & furnishings add to the atmosphere. Looking forward to the next occasion...

Gourmet Tart Company
Monksfield, Salthill, Galway

This restaurant is on my list of top 3 in Galway. I have dined here on 4 or 5 occasions, the last time Feb 23rd. The food was amazing, I had the 4 course menu starting with the crab, sourdough bread & brie. This was followed by the pear sorbet and then the lentil & chickpea dal. The dishes were very tasteful & fresh. But its the attention to detail that sets it apart. There was vegetable pakora, mango chutney & raita served with the curry... Service was excellent, staff were personable, informed & attentive without being too intrusive. The meal was excellent value for money. I was there for breakfast yesterday & there was a slight problem with something I was served (it was clearly a manufacturing problem), I quietly pointed it out to staff & again their attention was excellent. Well done all.

Oscars Seafood Bistro (Galway)
Lower Dominic Street, Galway City, Galway

Nice staff, good atmosphere. Food - great presentation, nice flavours. Like many other establishments at present I find my menu choice limited because I am a fish eating vegetarian & I don't like peppers. That is my only critique.

GBK @ The George
George Boutique Hotel, O'Connell Street, Limerick City, Limerick

I ate here Sunday evening, the staff were friendly, efficient & pleasant. The food was good value for money. While service was a little slow this could be forgiven. However I take exception to the volume of the music. A dj had set up in the bar beside the restuarant, and all speakers were connected. We sat down to eat at 8.30pm. at around 10pm we ended up leaving the restaurant because we were unable to hear one another speak! Absolutely unacceptable!! Not what one expects from a boutique hotel!

Da Tang Noodle House
2 Middle Street Mews, Galway City, Galway

Not your usual chinese restaurant. More authentic & less artifical colouring. Great food, quirky menu, helpful staff. On the downside - short on space, little room between tables or even at the tables. Not fine dining but cosy night out.

O Grady's On The Pier
Main Street, Barna, Galway

The setting is exceptional, the decor cosy & comfie. The staff, friendly & helpful. The food was absolutely beautiful. I had the crab starter followed by a prawn & crab salad....Mmmmmm My friend had a tuna steak cooked rare as requested. We forced ourselves to have dessert (for research purposes you know lol). Both were beautiful, We had the vanilla ice cream rolled in toasted crushed nuts & the dark & white chocolate terrine. Expensive but you get what you pay for!

Scottys Steakhouse
Cuirt na Coiribe, Headford Road, Galway City, Galway

Real feel good comfort food but bring your appetite. Large portions, huge choice & great taste. Its virtually impossible but leave room for the rocky mountain candy crunch MMmmmm

Vina Mara Restaurant
19 Middle Street, Galway City, Galway

This was a special Christmas / New Year night our with 2 great friends. Lively atmosphere but not intrusive. We were shown directly to our table, breads served. Al carte menu & set menu both presented. Generally we all go al carte because we're a picky bunch but on this occasion the set menu looked too good to pass up. I had the crab cake to start - crispy on the outside with a delicate crust. Filled with beautiful crab meat & little or no carb filler. The salmon risotto main course was delicious. Dessert was a chocolate indulgance. A thoroughly delightful evening. Can't wait for the next visit.

The Malt House
Old Malt Mall, High Street, Galway City, Galway

I visited here a few weeks ago, I won't make the same mistake anytime soon. The portions were small, the prices too high, the food just ok & the service argumentative. I asked about a dessert that came sprinkled with black pepper, I asked that they leave off the pepper from mine. Not so! I gave up after 5 mins of the waitress insisting that the 'pepper brings out the flavour', I don't care!!!! I'm paying for what I like! The tables are too close together, that & charging for bread / veg looks greedy.

Ristorante Da Roberta
161 Upper Salthill, Salthill, Salthill, Galway

Great food, service just ok. I've been there to meet friends before & asked to be seated with them only to be refused while there were several empty tables that night. On this occasion we had prebooked a table for 3 but were squeezed into a table for 2. When it came time for us or others to leave, diners had to stand up & move out of the way. Space is too tight & it gives an impression of penny pinching etc As I said, great food but not the atmosphere conducive to a relaxing night out!

Donnelly's of Barna
Barna, Barna, Galway

The food is predictable - I don't think the menu has changed in the last 4 - 5 years. Great seafood put destroyed in the cooking process e.g. very bland garlic crab claws, poor flavours etc. About 3 years ago I ate there 4 nights in a row - the chowder was superb. It contained fab fresh prawns that had never seen the inside of a freezer! If I was out that direction I would eat there because I know what I will get but its not the wow I want...

Kirwans Lane
Kirwans Lane, Galway City, Galway

I had been looking forward to this for sometime but was greatly disappointed! The hot starter - crab ravioli, was tasteless & lukewarm. There was a sauce around the pasta that had 'set' on the plate! The prawn main course was good but let down by the rest. I will not be rushing back!

Holywell Il Molino
Bridge Mills, O’Briens Bridge, Galway, Galway City, Galway

Great location & venue. Concise menu - no meat of fish! But the food was really great.Plenty of room between tables, we sat next to the the mill wheel. Comfortable, relaxed, no pressure to eat up & go etc in fact we went looking for the bill at the end of the night - we were the last to leave as usual! I would definitely pay a return visit! The leek soup was great - only complaint is that there was too much of it! Also really enjoyed the tagliatelle alla mafosia!
