Wineport Lodge restaurant
Glasson, Glasson, Westmeath
Reviewed 13th July 2009 ( visited 27th May 2009 )FANTASTIC !!..What a setting .. and with the best of food and wine combined with top class service this has to be the place for that special occasion !! Only one tiny drawback .. I wouldn't have the money to eat here every night ..Pity !!
The Mill Steakhouse restaurant
Davitts Quay, Dungarvan, Waterford
Reviewed 29th December 2010 ( visited 10th December 2010 )Having promised myself never to return to "The Mill" I did so at the invitation of some friends...Everyone seemed happy enough with their meals but this could have been politeness because speaking to my wife later she said her food was only "OK" ... I started with scallops which were delicious... For main course I ordered "Fillet Of Pork" which turned out ot be dried up leathery pork steak.. Potatoes were hard in the center and the Christmas pudding tasted like some sort of bread pudding with a drop of brandy added...(Again I didn't complain because of the company I was in)..The service is simply food delivery.. The tables are still too small and too close together for comform ... Verdict.... Cramped and too dear for what you get !!.. NOT GOING BACK !!
60 Glasnevin Hill, Glasnevin, Glasnevin, Dublin
Judging by the other reviews here I seem to be the odd one out but I was very disappointed with our Sunday lunch here ... The place was "different" and the staff were friendly ..Even the starters were good .. But there it ended ... Three out of four of us had "Burgers" which were big and dry with some "Plasticy" cheese on top in a big doughy bun..hard ho eat without lots to drink... "Chunky Chips" were simply not nice... The vegetables were not "Al Dente".. They were HARD ! .. Lemon Meringue pie had nice meringue but the lemon bit was dense and slippery in the mouth.. Not Nice... The fourth person in our company didn't comment but also didn't eat his "Lemon Meringue" pie... €104 for four.
Vertigo Bar @ Maldron Hotel (Cardiff Lane)
Maldron Hotel, Cardiff Lane, Dublin 2, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin
Had a nice lunch here ... Five people eating and everyone was happy .. Soup.. Crab Cakes .. A Spicy Chicken Thingy .. all were good and not too expensive ...Service could be quicker but overall not bad at all !..
Andersons Foodhall & Café
3 The Rise, Glasnevin, Glasnevin, Dublin
Dropped in for breakfast on Sunday morning to a fabulous little cafe that I (an auld Dub) NEVER EVEN KNEW EXISTED ! .. Everythig was wonderful .. The food, service, staff, athmosphere and prices... Can't say any more than "I Shall Return ! "
ely gastro bar
Grand Canal Square, (Next to the Bord Gais Energy Theatre), Dublin 2, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin
Not as good as last time ! Seven of us eating and opinions varied but the main complaint was of small portions... Two of us (with small appetites) had the Beer Battered Fish and it was gorgeous .. but the burger was dry and the steaks were small ... One steak eater was nicking food from other plates... The pasta was sticky and although it had a nice flavour was not nice to eat ... the deserts were again nice but small ... Overall the meal was just ok so I'm a bit disappointed considering we spent over 400 quid (including wine) ... I'm in two minds now about ELY having loved the place before so I'll give it one more try before writing it off !
Wagamama - Stephen's Green
St Stephen's Green Centre, South King St, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
Most unusual .. I've never been to a place like it before.. Reminded me of school with its wooden bench/straight line layout .. Four of us had lunch and I tried and enjoyed everyones..Mine was "thingy something"..Chicken and mushroom noodle soup and it was lovely(and huge)..Not the place for a romantic evening but smashing for a quick nosh and not too dear..I'll visit again.
Milano (Grand Canal Harbour)
Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin
Been here a few times now and have always enjoyed it... The food is great ... Started with Tricole and then Lasagne (something I don't normally eat) and scoffed the lot being carefull to just about leave room for the GORGEOUS tiramisu ... Everyone delighted with the meal (5 of us) ... service was fast and friendly and it's not expensive.... Again I shall return !!
Brass Cock Bar
Woodlands Hotel and Leisure Centre, Dunmore Road, Waterford City, Waterford
Cheap and handy .. The food was simple and plentiful but could have done with some of the warmth of the staff .. Turkey for me .. Pork for the better half .. both with roast and mashed spuds, two veg, stuffing, gravy and tea for two ... 20 quid ..You can't complain about that...
Kilkenny Restaurant & Cafe
1st Floor, 5/6 Nassau Street, City Centre South, Dublin
The food here is really lovely but the place itself is not .. Its a strange setup ..You have to walk through all the tables to find the food.. If you get a table at the window its amusing to watch the tourists hopping on and off busses below .. As I said ..The food is lovely but its expensive for a CAFE (not a restaurant..not in my book anyway)
Grafton Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
I had almost forgotten the lovely athmosphere in "Bewley's" .. Although th cafe has been completely revamped in recet years it still has a smashing old feel to it..Perhaps influenced by nostalgia I loved my lunch here .. The staff are efficient and friendly and the food is great .. An old Dub myself I should visit the city more often and in future when I do I'll visit Bewley's to .. It used to be and still is a treat !!
The Pygmalion Restaurant @ The Parknasilla Hotel
Sneem, Sneem, Kerry
In a fantastic location with some of the most pleasant staff I've encountered we had a meal I will remember for a long time .. Having dined here the previous evening, my wife (not being a fish person) was undecided about her main course .. The waitress spotted her indecision .. Told Chef .. Who created a "special" just for her .. Thats Service !! The food is excellent .. Take a walk in the grounds after dinner ..You'll be glad of it..No more waffle... Simply TOP MARKS ALL ROUND !!
Glasson, Glasson, Westmeath
FANTASTIC !!..What a setting .. and with the best of food and wine combined with top class service this has to be the place for that special occasion !! Only one tiny drawback .. I wouldn't have the money to eat here every night ..Pity !!
Ming' s Court
40 Grattan Sq Dungarvan, Dungarvan, Waterford
Small and nice ... Good staff.. nice food .. ok prices.. but nothing to make it stand out from other Chinese restaurants around the country.. Strangely I had Take Away from here the previous Tuesday and I thought that was actually better..
Davitts Quay, Dungarvan, Dungarvan, Waterford
OK it was a Saturday evening and we did not have a reservation but enquiries made by one of our number before the other three entered indicated no problem..we were seated for forty minutes before our order was taken..Seemingly there was a birthday party upstairs (they should have told us they couldn't cope)..The delivered food was practically thrown onto the table..That said ..the food was actually not bad .. I MIGHT give it another chance if I look in and its almost empty.
ely bar & brasserie
CHQ Building, Georges Dock, Dublin 1, City Centre, IFSC, Dublin
Big improvement in the food since my last visit...Six of us stopped in for lunch..Everything was deemed to be good except for the Pork Belly which even by "Pork Belly" standards was very fatty..Chicken Pie was lovely and soups very nice.. Steak was good but small.. Bring a sandwich to keep you going till your food arrives .. THE SERVICE WAS SLOOOOOW !!
La Perla @ Lyrath Estate Hotel
Paulstown Road, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny
Been here a few times before and always found it great..This time however the service was not up to scratch..My order arriving and my three companions delayed ..It finally took forty five minutes for their food to land on the table..Also staff seemed clumsy today..Food as usual top class (if a little pricey) but I'll continue to visit..
Zaks Restaurant (Cork)
No 4 Marlboro Street, Cork City, Cork
I had a late lunch here (two or two thirtyish)and there were only six or eight people there yet the service was SLOW and I heard the folk behind me complaining about a mix up with their order .. Food was good and well priced but I'd hate to think how they manage IF they get busy..
Sinergie Restaurant @ The Clarion
Lapps Quay, Cork City, Cork
I found the staff here friendly, polite and efficient .. Though the meat on both my visits was a little overdone for my taste everything else was good and not particularly expensive .. I feel a bit left out after reading previous reviews but I'll go back again and perhaps suggest Chef might be a touch less searing..
The Garden Room @ The Park Hotel
Dungarvan, Dungarvan, Waterford
I hope it wasn't just the particular Thursday i was there and the atmosphere friendliness and hospitality (even among patrons)was great...FOOD WAS GOOD AND THE STAFF ATTENTIVE AND HELPFUL ... Going to give them another visit soon..
Quasi Lanka Eastern Restaurant - Closed
F26 Dungarvan Shopping Centre, Dungarvan, Waterford
Shame about the entrance..The restaurant looks like its stuck to Xtra-Vision ..But get over that and give yourself a treat..Good athmosphere ..great food and friendly helpful staff.. Pleasently unusual tastes to be tried .. Alas falls down in the dessert dept.
White Horses Restaurant
Ardmore, Ardmore, Waterford
I can only say that today's visit to "The White Horses" was a big let down having always been a fan..The place was JAMMED..As in hardly room to move .. people actually seated at the till..We ate in the "garden".. Service was very slow and my wife's "Crispy Bacon And Chicken Open Sandwich" came with LIMP bacon and NO chicken on dry brown bread .. My prawn sandwich was fine except for the dry brown bread .. when requested butter and the missing chicken arrived ..The bill for this + a pot of tea was 25 Euros which I reached around the people eating at the till and payed .. Bedlam but the staff are nice !
The Mill Steakhouse
Davitts Quay, Dungarvan, Waterford
Having promised myself never to return to "The Mill" I did so at the invitation of some friends...Everyone seemed happy enough with their meals but this could have been politeness because speaking to my wife later she said her food was only "OK" ... I started with scallops which were delicious... For main course I ordered "Fillet Of Pork" which turned out ot be dried up leathery pork steak.. The Tannery Restaurant
Quay Street, Dungarvan, Waterford
I have always liked The Tannery..The food .service etc. has always been tops...BUT last Wednesday's visit was a let down.. Food was fine but th service was slow and the athmosphere of being "looked after" seems to have vanished.. The Tannery needs to pull its socks up or they won't keep their patrons at the prices they charge..
Unit 13 Dungarvan Shop Centre, Dungarvan, Dungarvan, Waterford
A good cheap nosh-up if you are hungry and in a hurry..Nothing wrong with anything as such but it feels very canteeny.
Crew’s Steak & Seafood
Church Street, Dungarvan, Waterford
DISAPPOINTED.. I have always spoken highly of "Crews" but last night was a let down..LIMP,TIRED fish,SOSO steaks,"chips"arrived well into the main course, staff had to be asked a second time for two deserts, one persons coffee arrived when the rest of us were halfway through..The place was VERY "unbusy" for a Saturday night and still the service was rushed and confused..something's changed ..but not the prices..(friends enjoying each others company prevented my making a fuss)..I wonder why they are "unbusy".
Ormond's Cafe & Restaurant
5 Grattan sq, Dungarvan, Dungarvan, Waterford
Haven't visited for a while but "The Ormond" is one of the best places in Dungarvan -nay -Waterford for fish and chips as well as everything else..Friendly staff ..great service ..tasty and properly priced food. Never been here at night but never been disappointed during the day..I love the fish and chips !!
The Moorings Restaurant
Davitt's Quay, Dungarvan, Dungarvan, Waterford
Step back through time (i.e. The bar..although there may be another entrance this way is worth a look) and you will find a comfortable and intimate restaurant with good (nothing too fancy)food ... I like the fish and chips best ..Enjoy a stroll after your meal.Small and opening times are a bit erratic so make contact first..The bar serves food all the time.
Davitts Quay, Dungarvan, Waterford
Visited four or five times. .Nice place with friendly staff and a good athmosphere .. Main problem for me was the lack of choice in the dessert dept ..nothing but frozen thingies ! Everything else was fine. Can feel a bit rushed particularly during summer weekends.
