Went with 5 of my family. One of whom is under ten. We had such a great time, food and wine really is amazing. What I really liked was that our younger diner was really well catered for. Can't rate this restaurant high enough :)

Have been on two nights out here recently, both girls nights out. First night we managed to arrive in time for the early bird. This menu is really good and is around 20-23euro for a three course. The cocktails were on offer that night and were really really good. The food is even better, just delicious. The next night we arrived a little later and had to go a la carte, which worked out a bit more expensive but we were stuffed after 2 courses. The food was great this night also. Unfortunately I need to agree with some of the above reviews and have to say that the service leaves a lot to be desired. Not all of the staff, but a few of the staff we encountered were really unhelpful. Maybe it was their first night of service? Overall an absolute treat :)

Beautiful food, and very helpful waitresses, one of whom recommended a really nice Riesling. Such a nice place to lunch in Galway City centre...

Ard Bia at Nimmo's
Long Walk, Near the Spanish Arch, Galway City, Galway

I really liked ardbia. the interior is cozy and homey.we had a house special rose (apparently we got the last bottle) which leaned more towards a red than a white but wasnt two heavy! There was a nice selection of breads served.... too nice in fact! I had a crab and smoked trout salad to start. so many different tastes and flavours in one plate.... yum yum. my friend had a duck salad which went down really well too. I also had hake which was served with chorizo in a lovely slightly spicy sauce. My friends steak was great too. Really enjoyed the food here. Thanks ardbia!

Independent Pizza Co
28 Drumcondra Rd Lower, Dublin 9, Drumcondra, Dublin

For a couple of pizzas and a bit of a chat, this place is great. It just shows it doesnt always have to be fancy and swanky to be enjoyable. i was in on a Monday night and the place was full. Nice pizzas.

Cactus Jacks (Middle Abbey St)
Millennium Walkway, Middle Abbey Street, City Centre North, Italian Quarter, Dublin

Came here on a Saturday evening because we had heard good things about it. Very friendly and welcoming staff. We went for the early bird menu which is really good value 3 courses with a glass of wine for 20e. The wine was ok-you'd expect muck when the price is so cheap but it wasnt. he kitchen made a big boo boo. We waited for a half an hour after ordering our starters (chicken caesar salad and chicken wings) and the waiter arrived with our mains!!!! We told him we had ordered starters and he said that the kitchen had told him our starters had already been sent out. It seems like a very basic theing to get wrong.... Anyway he headed back into the kitchen with our mains and out came our starters. We were starved at this stage!!! the chicken wings were ok, as was the salad. Our mains were ok too fajitas for me were good and a cheeseburger for himself. Not sure about the fajitas but his burger definitely had been left sitting under a hotplate or lamp because his fries were really dried out at that stage. Dessert was ok too we had profiteroles and cheesecake. Followed by an amazing strawberry daiquiri. The restaurant offers great value, have very friendly staff and lovely cocktails. The food is average....ish though!!!!!!!

Il Corvo Restaurant
98-100 Upper Drumcondra Road, Dublin 9 , Drumcondra, Dublin

Came here last fri with my friend. We were so vry disappointed. We had an average starter... that wasnt the problem. We both had ordered a pasta dish.... how hard can it be to make an average pasta dish? Both our pasta dishes were horrendous. I am the kinda person who will eat anything! But i managed about three bites of my pasta (which was a tomato based sauce with mushrooms and chicken) and no more! The chicken was of very poor quality also. My friend ordered a dessert which I think was just some crunched up biscuits ice cream and cream. We shared a bottle of wine which wasnt very nice either. I think this place is trying to pass itself as something its not I definitely wont be going back.

TGI Friday (St Stephens Green )
St Stephens Green, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Came here as I had a voucher. The service was good, food was average..... I was craving a burger and so it suited fine. We ate from the 2 course for 15e menu. It was nothing too exciting so I wouldnt be in a rush back but it wasnt bad either.

The Peacock Restaurant @ Finnstown Country House
Newcastle Road, West Co. Dublin, Lucan, Dublin

I agree with the other reviewers unfortunately...... There was a cold feeling from some of the restaurant staff (there was one older man who was great fun and helpful he was the exception rather than the rule). Lovely cosy restaurant and bar, but the food was not warm when served. Nice place to spend a Sunday.

The Exchange Restaurant and Cocktail Bar
The Westin Dublin, At College Green, Westmoreland Street, City Centre South, Dublin

I came here with my boyfriend just before Christmas. There was a special seasonal menu, 2 courses for 35e and 3 courses for 39e. I had a menupages voucher for a bottle of house wine. We had two courses each and shared a dessert. I had scallops to start...... tasty and well cooked but very small!!!! My boyfriend had duck pate which was also nice. Unfortunately the mains were not up to scratch, i had the halibut and he had the lamb. The lamb was extremely fatty and inedible. The halibut was also well cooked but served on a chorizo and bean mix..... not very appetizing. We shared a chocolate mint cake which was not great either and, believe it or not we were both still a little peckish after such small portions! Such bad value for money.

The Nuremore Hotel
Nuremore Hotel and Country Club, Carrickmacross, Monaghan

Wonderful food, wine, service. Just such a shame about the restaurant itself- the hotel is no great shakes either. Decorated like a 1970's sitting room.... :( But the food is GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!!

Elephant & Castle
18/19 Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

I usually really like this spot!!! Chicken wings for starter were GREAT as usuak.... had roast duck salad and it was only average. Nothing too it really. My friend ordered chicken caesar salad for main and it was mega disappointing.... 5 teeny pieces of chicken on a big lump of lettuce leaves! She sent it back and they added some chicken...... but it was something that was basically just thrown onto the plate. For a salad that cosrt 15euro it was terrible. We shared a hot fudge sundae for dessert..... which at over 7 euro was a bit of a rip off!!!! I used to love this place..... now it seems the only thing good about the place is the chicken wings :(

Boulevard Cafe
27 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Met my friend here for a early dinner. There was plenty of choices as it was a dine in dublin restaurant. They offered three courses for 25e. We both had the goatscheese starter which was quite nice. I ordered the rib eye steak for main -even though it had a 5euro supplement charge (not happy with that at all, its a 25 euro menu i personally think its cheating to slap on a 5euro charge). It wasn't very nice in all honesty. My friend had a tiger prawn chilli pasta dish`. My steak was ok, I've had better. My friend really didnt ike her pasta, it was a huge plate of pasta with a oad of massive prawns( i know tiger are supposed to be big!) but it was just way too much. In fairness to them though, we shared a beautiful cheesecake-it was amaretto and blueberry INCREDIBLE! I was really impressed with the service! pity about the mains :(

Mao Restaurant (Dundrum)
Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin

Had a great big starter between three of us! Satay chicken spring rolls and prawn crisps. All three of us enjoyed our mains- i had the chilli beef noodles-v nice :) Was DYING for chocolate so had some chocolate cake for dessert unfortunately this wasn't nice at all. had an expresso which was probably the worst ever! my friends each had a tea which they said was very nice but how hard is it to get tea wrong.....

WILDE
The Westbury, Grafton Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Visited for a friends birthday. We were presented with some duck mousse as an appetiser, only after ordering our starter. Unfortunately my dining partner had already ordered the duck for starter so it was a pity that they couldn't have provided something. Anyway, that was a small thing. Had scallops which I felt were a bit rubbery. The duck went down a treat with us as an appetiser and starter. We both had steak for mains and ordered sides- baby potatoes and creamed spinach. The steak was lovely, cooked so well. The creamed spinach was divine. However the baby potatoes were uncooked though (I will say UNcooked because they were rock hard). I dont understand how a restaurant can get so much right and this seemingly minor thing to be overlooked! When I mentioned this to the waiter he was very apologetic and offered us new ones but we had almost finished our main courses so it wasnt worth it. I had an amazing chocolate cointreu mousse for dessert and my partner had a raspberry and cream sable dessert which was presented really well. We were also presented with petit fours with our coffee which i presume was because we complained about the potatoes. They knocked the price of the pots off the bill in the end, and the price was ok. But the atmosphere was terrible! There were about 3-4 occupied tables in the whole restaurant which is huge! Felt like i was in a fishbowl (which isnt really the fault of the waiters, they were great). I wouldn't be in a huge rush back :(

Cortina’s Mexican Restaurant
The Pembroke District, Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin

Great food, but the portions were huge, my burrito was so nice but way too big. Had a lovely Mexican red wine with it. The place was dead when we went in first but it was 5 on a Tuesday evening so it wasn't long before it picked up. The service was super, really attentive and genuine smiles all around. For two mains, one side, 4 glasses of wine, and an espresso the nill came to 49.50. Not too bad. Will come back!

The Cheese Pantry
104 Drumcondra Road Upper, North Dublin, Drumcondra, Dublin

Called in here for a bite to eat on Saturday evening. We had just missed the early bird :( but happily chose from the a la carte menu because the menu looked so nice. We shared a bottle of the house pinot grigio. I had the risotto, it was delicious. I tried some of my friends chicken tagliatelle which was delicious! The third diner with us had the coq au vin and it went down a treat. Shared a dessert of lemon tart and really enjoyed it although we were stuffed. An espresso to top it all off and we left really fulfilled :) great little place! Will be back!!!

Fagans
Drumcondra, Drumcondra, Dublin

Was here with my friend after doing the skyride in dublin and we were both absolutely starving!!! So we tucked into a huge carvery (I had lasagne she had turkey and ham) and we both really really enjoyed it!!!! The plate of food was huge and really hit the spot but i was a bit surprised by the price of beer..... just had a bottle of corona and it was 5.60. Aside from that it was a good feed on a hungry Sunday evening...

Have eaten here once or twice because its a handy location for after work. The food is of poor quality, I would expect much better even if it is only pub grub....

Cabra Castle
Carrickmacross Road, Kingscourt, Cavan

We came to Cabra for two nights. The second night we were attending a wedding in the castle so the night before we had a meal in the restaurant. I can't rate the restaurant high enough. We had a 4 courses, coffees and wine for a ridiculously reasonable price. The food was incredible, the service was great, the dining room itself looks out over the grounds (we had a very nice window table). I consider this restaurant as one of the nicest places I've ever eaten in!!!

Pichet
14/15 Trinity Street, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin

Food here was great, had mackrel to start, fantastic. Steak as main was good. My boyfriend had veal in (if I remember correctly) a bolonaise sauce, for starter. This was average only. He had the duck for main and loved it. The service was great, but I was really underwhelmed by the atmosphere for a friday night. I expected a little bit more as regards the layout of the restaurant, we were at a table for two and were pretty squashed. I know its meant to be 'bistro' but i would prefer a littlre more space (and maybe a litle bit of luxury!!!!) to enjoy my meal.

FXB Monkstown
3a The Crescent Monkstown, South Co. Dublin, Monkstown, Dublin

This restaurant turned me into a steak lover!! (not sure if thats a good thing vis á vis my waistline but......) Have been for great Christmas parties, romantic meals for two, and quick bites and its always top notch. The pub downstairs is great for an after dinner drink as well.

The Port House
64a South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Love the feeling the moment I walk into this restaurant. The atmosphere, low lighting, and its selection of really nice wine ensure that I am regular. The menu is incredible and so hard to choose from! I was there with friends on a beautiful busy Fri evening, so we sat outside. In typical Irish fashion the rain started hammering down during our food so we made a mad dash inside. We were immediately accomodated which was great. However, I have often eaten here and felt that my food has been cooked hours before and reheated. Its unfortunate but the quality of the food lets this place down. If the Port house upped the quality of their food they would certainly be on a winner because I feel they have everything else under control.

Village Bistro at Tonic Bar, Restaurant and Club
5 Temple Road, Blackrock Village, Blackrock, Dublin

Tonic was my local for two years... Love the food, cocktails, atmosphere, smoking area. But unfortunately the service is always poor. Nice staff, but far too slow when taking orders and preparing drinks. But the good points definitely outweigh the bad, I've had so many nice meals and drinks here!!

Lohans
232-234 Salthill Upper, Salthill, Galway

I visited Lohans with my little sister and my aunt last week. My aunt and I thought ours was ok but unfortunatey my 8 year old sister didn't enjoy her chicken goujons and chips from the kids menu. They brought her a colouring page however which kept her quiet! I had bbq ribs which were nice, my aunt had the special which was salmon and was also nice. However, when we arrived first and ordered drinks, it took the staff around 15-20 minutes to bring us back our drinks! The restaurant was busy but definitely not packed, so I don't understand this. At the end of our meal I ordered a second drink instead of a coffee and this also took 15-20mins to come. The staff were nice but this was much too slow. Nice decor, nice views, nice pub grub, but unfortunately the service was just a bit too slow!!!

Harrys on the Green
2 King St South, City Centre South, Dublin

I also went to this restaurant with a citydeal voucher. I originally bought it because I thought I was buying a voucher for another restaurant with the same name. We sat outside on the terrace because it was a really nice evening. However, the terrace was filthy-dirty tables, and napkins, food and rubbish on the floor. My boyfriend had soup which seemed fine, and I had seafood chowder (which came with no bread). The seafood chowder was watery and flavourless but edible all the same. My boyfriend had the fish and chips for mains and I had the surf and turf. My boyfreinds fish was mainly batter and very little fish. My steak was overdone, chewy and most definitely the worst steak I have ever eaten in a restaurant. The two prawns which were served with it were dried up and also of such bad quality that the first one turned my stomach. The two mains were served with chips which tasted as if had been cooked hours before and kept warm. Our wine was included in the voucher but wasn't very nice. When I went to the bathroom downstairs the toilet flooded on the floor underneath the toilet after I flushed it. This is my first restaurant review but I was so shocked by the food in this restaurant that I felt compelled to warn others.
