I met 2 friends for dinner here the other night. I had the bacon and cheese burger which was delightful. I can't remember what the other 2 had but there wasnt a scap left on their plates. We had 2 fries and 1 portion of onion rings which were gorgeous. The meal came to €53 which included drinks also.Service was excellent and great value.

ely gastro bar
Grand Canal Square, (Next to the Bord Gais Energy Theatre), Dublin 2, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin

Our booking was for 2 people on a Sun night @ 8pm. We arrived @ 7.55pm and were waiting 7 mins to be seated even though there were only 8 tables eating food and at least 6 waiters. When we finally got seated, we were given food menus but no wine menu. The waiter came and took our food order before we even had a wine menu. We eventually ordered the wine but our starters arrived before the drinks. The waiter didnt cork the bottle in front of us and didnt ask if we wanted to taste. Luckily the wine was nice. We both had soup which was nice but only luke warm. I had a steak for mains which i asked to be cooked med-well and with chips instead of mash. The steak arrived without chips and was cooked rare-med. There was hardly any meat on the steak also. My girlfriend had the Cheese Tart which was just reheated. It took them 15 mins to take our plates away and another 15 mins to ask if we wanted desert. (not that we were going to order anyway)! Verdict - Never returning to Ely
