Trocadero
St Andrew Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Great restaurant to visit at anytime of the day. Super service with very efficient staff. This restuarant is always busy so they must be doing something write. A friend of mine said the early bird is excellent value, will check it out after christmas when the restaurant is quieter, great spot.

Arc Cafe Bar
Liffey Vallley Shopping Centre, Fonthill Rd, West Dublin, Liffey Valley, Dublin

Met three friends here on Friday evening. There are lots of menus to choose from all of which have plenty of choices. We chose the two course menu priced at €14.95 for a starter and main course, great value. I had the deep fried garlic mushrooms and fish pie both were absolutely delicious. All of us were delighted with our choice, portion size and taste. Whether meeting friends or just passing for a coffee give this venue a try, proximity to the M50 and N4 is also very good, highly recommend.

La Palma Ristorante Italiano
Parnell st, Waterford, Waterford City, Waterford

My husband and I were in Waterford for the weekend and found this lovely Italian restaurant close to the city centre. Situated in an old world house, the exterior and interior of the premises are both lovely, very comfortable and warm. We chose the early bird priced at €23.95 for three courses plus either tea or coffee. Staff were very efficent and pleasant and had a lovely approach to customers. While the food was lovely, portion size is very small. Perhaps the management of the restuarant should look at this.

The Brasserie @ Newlands Cross
Bewleys Hotel Newlands Cross, Clondalkin, Dublin

When we visited the bar recently we decided to have some lunch. The area is a very spacious and comfortable place to eat. Staff are very friendly and the bar menu is reasonably priced with a good selection of dishes to choose from, There is plenty of car parking in the hotel and I would recommend a visit if passing.

The Yard Restaurant
3 Lower George Street, Wexford Town, Wexford

Passing through Wexford town over the weekend, we had heard about the Yard restaurant from friends so I rang ahead and made a booking. Luckily I did as we were told a table would not be available without booking in advance. There was a set price of €25 for a four course meal which had plenty of variety in each course. Portion sizes were very good and we were all very pleased with how the food was presented and also that it tasted delicious. The house wine was very reasonably priced too and again was to our liking. If you are planning to stay in Wexford or indeed will be passing through the town soon, book ahead for the Yard restaurant and you will not be disappointed, highly recommend.

Cafe Boulevard - Baggot St
132 Lower Baggot Street, Ballsbridge, Dublin

If you are looking for value for money in a restaurant in the city centre, then you must visit Cafe Boulevard which is located in Exchequer Street. We ate there on Sunday evening and for €60 we had a three course meal each with either tea or coffee and a bottle of house wine and no service charge added to our bill. All of the courses were generous in portion size and tasted delicious. The staff all were very well presented, polite and attentive and clearly liked working in the Cafe. We will return and would highly recommend a visit.

Rolys Bistro
7 Ballsbridge Terrace, Dublin, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Rolys is a very busy restaurant which adds to the atmosphere. However if you want to unwind and relax eating your meal this will not happen during a weekend. The food is tasty and portion sizes are generous which they should be as they are not cheap by any means. Staff are efficient but boy do they earn their money - absolutely. The tables are positioned very close together which we did not like but is probably the same in most very popular restaurants over the Christmas. Hopefully we will return there but next time I will choose the early bird menu and pick an earlier time during the week and not the second Saturday before christmas.

Wongs of Ranelagh
7 Sandyford Road, Ranelagh, Ranelagh, Dublin

My wife and I visited Wongs for the first time in over seven years and after last nights visit I now know why. We were shown to our table by a staff member who does not believe in smiling. We were given our menus promptly and decided on the set dinner. We asked to make some changes to it, which were allowed. The restuarant was not busy during our visit which is probably due to the poor quality and portion sizes of the food being served and therefore not good value for money. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning.

The Port House
64a South William Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

A friend recommended this restuarant to me some time ago but I only had the opportunity to visit here last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is brilliant with staff being very attentive to customers delivering food promptly and with a smile. A little overpriced for the size of the portions but which are very tasty. Only one negative the restaurant is very dark and I found it quite hard to read the menu, will return.

The County Club
Dunshaughlin, Dunshaughlin, Meath

Nice pub to visit if you feel like relaxing for part of your journey, lots of car parking spaces, roomey pub, comfortable setting. There is a carvery and also an a la carte menu served daily both of which are good value for money.

The Hanora D Restaurant
The Lucan Spa Hotel, Junction 4A, N4, Lucan, Lucan, Dublin

Visited this restaurant for the first time this evening to check out the early bird menu. Priced at €14.50 for a starter, main course and either tea or coffee, this is excellent value for money. The choice of starters and main courses are good and portion sizes are also very generous. Staff were attentive and helpful at all times. The restuarant is very clean, well laid out and caters for large groups also. Would recommend and return soon.

The Eagle House
18 Glasthule Road, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

We visited the pub on Friday for the carvery offer of €6.99 which was a must as I have never seen a carvery to be advertised as low a price as this. The carvery portion choice was very good and also the portion size was very good also. The staff were efficient and friendly, nice atmosphere where local people go. Will return.

Hard Rock Cafe
12 Fleet Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

I viisited the hard rock cafe today with my wife and we were seated immediately by a very friendly waitress. The cafe was quite busy and the atmosphere good. We ordered steaks for our main course and were pleasantly surprised at their taste and presentation. However one negative is that the price of each of the steaks was €23.95 each which I consider quite high for an 8 oz siroloin. Perhaps the hard rock cafe should consider reducing the price of their steaks otherwise we will choose a burger next time we visit.

Little Italy Restaurant
21 John Street, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny

I visited this restaurant on Saturday evening with my wife to try the early bird. We were seated immediately and we decided to try the three course early bird special priced at €15.95. The taste and presentation of each of our courses was excellent A nice atmosphere, very helpful and friendly staff all contributed to a very pleasant evening overall. Great value for money, highly recommned, will return.

Milano (Dawson Street)
38 Dawson Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Ate hear last night 29th, we had to wait for about 20 minutes on a table but understood as the restuarant was very busy. We were here for the two for one offer and business was certainly good for the restaurant. We were seated within the twenty minutes. Tables are quite small but clean. Our waiter took our order and read it back to us which I liked. Our main courses were served piping hot and a generous enough portion. The wine list was quite small but there was enough to choose from. Overall excellent service, staff were very busy and the atmosphere was good.

Mexico to Rome
23 East Essex Street, Dublin 2, City Centre, Temple Bar, Dublin

The early bird is excellent value for money and not to be missed. This offer consists of a starter, main course, desert and a glass of red or white wine all for €13.95. The service is excellent and the staff are efficient and friendly, Wil visit again.

The Leopardstown Inn
Brewery Road, Stillorgan, Dublin

Bar food in the Leopardstown Inn is very tasty but not good value for money. Sunday carvery is now priced at €14.95 just for the main course, will not be returning for this reason.

Imperial Chinese
12A Wicklow Street, City Centre South, Dublin

I had not been to this restaurant for almost a year and after last Sunday's experience I will not return. This restaurant was one of the best chinese restaurants in Dublin but alas this is no more. We decided to try the two course learly bird speical priced at €20, not a good idea, overall very bad value for money. There is no atmosphere in this restaurant, service with a smile is not on the menu at the Imperial and because there are many more great restaurants that are offering excellent value for money in Chinese food, we will be visiting these instead, would not recommend.
