Really like eating at this place, very good food and the staff is very friendly. Also fantastic when you have your children with you, they will even provide some crayons for them.

Yamamori Noodles
71-72 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Always a hit, never a miss - great food, nice staff, this is definitely a legend in Dublin. Their prawn tempura is fantastic and the rice is always so tasty, I enjoy every grain. It's also great to see Asian tourists eating here, a sign of a decent and next to authentic cuisine, in my opinion.

The Donkey Shed Restaurant
Newbarn Farm, Old Ashbourne Road, Ashbourne, Meath

A great spot for families and locals, with a combo of a petting zoo (but these are normal farm animals, the eggs you get there are sold in their shop), a shop where you can buy local produce and a nice restaurant serving simple and rustic food. We are regulars and especially appreciate the family friendly atmosphere of the place. Love the sandwiches, the sausage and bacon sandwich is great, as is fish and chips, Stroganoff, roast beef etc. And my daughter can't get enough of the ice-cream and then it's off to feed the donkeys and pigs and goats. A very happy customer here.

The Poet's Rest
Chapel Street, Slane, Co. Meath, Slane, Meath

This was one of the most awful meals I've had in the last couple of years including our company canteen. Fish and chips - you could get better at any cheap chipper. Barely any fish and what was there was swimming in oil so much it was almost inedible. A few chunks of chips didn't really make up for it and the salad was covered in a very stinky dressing. They serve kids meals for free but I'd rather pay for a decent meal than getting a bowl of overcooked penne that is falling apart when you try to put it on a fork tossed in a heated can of tinned tomatoes with no seasoning whatsoever. I wouldn't serve that to a six month old with no teeth, even they deserve better than a completely bland food devoid of any flavour. As for the service, while the premises look nice, there were no napkins on our table and the salt shaker was empty. We were not even brought any paper napkins with the cutlery. We left hungry, me with a stomach pain from the oily fish. The whole atmosphere in the restaurant was the one of a place that has given up. My daughter was hungry so I didn't bother with any feedback on the spot, I wanted to leave as soon as possible to give her some food, from what I could see I doubt it would have made any sense anyway. I wonder how long this place will last as it wasn't exactly packed and this was at one o'clock with people just leaving church and it's confirmation time. I'm giving one star for the service because we were served but that's it.

Sika Restaurant
Powerscourt Hotel Restaurant & Spa, Powerscourt, Wicklow

Our second visit, this time it was my birthday and what a culinary experience! My other half was happy with his choice of appetiser of crab meat and then hake for for his main course, my foie gras terrine was very good but the highlight was my sirloin steak - tender, juicy and nicely red in the middle. I ordered a sauce but didn't use it with my steak because it would spoil the excellent piece of cow who certainly died for a very noble cause. I had the pineapple parfait for dessert and my husband had the raspberry souffle, very light and delicious. I also appreciated the very nice touch at the end when I was brought a little piece of chocolate cake with a lit candle on a beautifully decorated plate.

Montys of Kathmandu
28 Eustace Street, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Went there last week, despite booking in advance got the worst table possible /at the door/ so sitting there would mean playing a concierge for new arrivals. Eventually got a table downstairs but the service was really bad as if they wanted to punish us for our protest.
