Reviewed 29th August 2016 ( visited 20th August 2016 )Went here for a late lunch with the hubbie, food was delicious, staff were lovely. My only negative was the bread that the pate came with was far too sweet. But overall we really enjoyed it & will be back

Had a lovely breakfast here, no children just myself and hubby. Service was fine, breakfast was delicious except the fried eggs were hard but they were changed for me. Definitely worth a visit

Amerta Chinese Restaurant
Clifton Avenue, Monkstown, Dublin
Was absolutely disgusted with this restaurant this evening. Booked a table for 3 adults, 4 children, ages 13, 8,6 & 6. Sat down & we gave our order for starters, my 8 year old daughter asked for 1 starter. I should mention this is a buffet €7 for children €13 for adults I think... Any how my daughter only wanted two things off the menu. We were told that my nephew age 13 would have to be charged as an adult, we said ok, he was ordering a lot, then they said my 8 year old daughter would have to be charged as an adult as she looks over 1.2 meters tall... I could not believe what I was hearing, adult in this country is 18+ doesn\'t matter what their heigh is. My daughter is actually small for her age, I\'m only 4ft 11, ny husband 5ft1... They were so rude to us, I told them I was not paying a adult price for a child & she said \"well you can\'t share\" we never mentioned sharing \n We got up & left but I was absolutely livid.... I will not be letting this go... I wouldn\'t mind but the food is not great we only came here for my sister....
Old Bray Road,, Cabinteely Village, South Dublin, Cabinteely, Dublin
Came with 3 friends, very busy but it was a Saturday nite. Waitress came over straight away & we gave our drinks order. 45 minutes later we had to ask her to take our food order we were starving, two dishes came out & we had to wait another 20 minutes for the rest. My friend is a celiac so asked about the gluten free pasta & was assured it was gluten free so ordered it, it was served by a different waitress who told her it was not gluten free. We asked for the manager who was very nice & helpful & spoke to the chef who assured us it was gf but suggested she order something else. They did give us a drink on the house & coffee. The food was ok, service was very slow & we were seated at a table with dirty glass.... Don\'t think I\'ll be going back, but my friends did say they might try it again \n
Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14, Dundrum, Dublin
What an absolute disaster of a place. My self & husband came here for dinner, it was not busy we arrived at 4 o\'clock. We both order the penne pasta dish, hubby got chips. Chips came out freezing & packed with salt pasta came out burned black at the tips. Could not believe it, gave back the whole meal. My husband refused anything else. Service is a joke and food is a disgrace. We ended up paying for my meal & €9.75 for a bottle of beer & €7 I think for a glass of wine. No management came near us. When we were leaving I approached the manager & told him how bad the food was, to which he replied we took one meal off your bill. Really..... The staff here is very young & so was the manager, but for the prices they charge everything needs improving. I would never go back & would not recommend it... Appalling

The Grange Kitchen
Ballinastoe, Roundwood, Roundwood, Wicklow
Came here with hubby, had a night with no kids. Food was beautiful, service was great but we were the only ones in the restaurant. Very little atmosphere, we booked for 7.30. We were in & out fairly quickly. Would go back again but maybe when a little busier
Pembroke District, Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 14 , Dundrum, Dublin
My 8 year old daughter had wanted to go here for sometime, we took her for her communion. It was a great success, food was delicious, not a thing was left, both my 8 & 5 year old really enjoyed it & have asked to go back. Myself & husband food was perfect. Highly recommended it
Italian Connection (Carlow)
Kennedy Avenue, Carlow town, Carlow
Was visiting Carlow for the weekend & just popped in for a bit to eat we have not rang ahead but got a table. Quite a big place & it was not full. I got the impression people just came in eat & left. There was no-one taking their time or seem to be relaxing over their meal. the food was lovely & well presented but came out fast. Was not expensive but then we did not have wine & the coffe was pretty bad. Would go back if I was in Carlow again if we couldnt find anything better
Clock Tower, Enniskerry, Wicklow
Went here Saturday night with my husband. I received a voucher at Christmas. Every time I tried to call the phone rang out (I auctually thought they had gone out of business). So when I finally got through it was at 7.15 at night & the guy on the phone was a bit rude. I asked were they open & he says they only open from 7-10 they could of had this on a phone recording. I asked if we needed to make a book for Sat nite & he told me "if I wanted to" needless to say we were not expecting much when we got there, however I was pleasently surprised. The place was lovely cosy & friendly the food was fab. Wine was not great. The staff was friendly enough. I would put the guy on the phone down to a bad experience & would go back. It was not expensive. So all in all & happy meal in the end !
Byrne & Woods
Roundwood, Co. Wicklow, Roundwood, Wicklow
Had a lovely dinner here with my husband. Food was fab & service was good. No rush off the table which is great. My only moan would be the wine it is very over priced esp. in this day & age. I would say they would sell a lot more wine if it was better priced. Before we eat we had a drink in the bar & I had a glass of house white it was terrible, so at my dinner I picked a different wine €39 which was one of the cheaper wines. it was fine but nothing fantastic & we did not order another bottle. There was a group of 6 opposite us & they order 1 white & 1 red for the table & I heard the girl say they would go accross the road for drinks later as we did. All in all lovely food !
La Dolce Vita - The Chase
Carmanhall Road, Dublin 18, Sandyford, Dublin
I went to lunch here with some friends on Saturday we were the 1st to arrive. By the time we finished our starters the place was full off kids ........ having 2 small girls myself I understand you can not keep them seated all the time. We didnt know at the time of booking that all kids meals were free. The food was fab, portions were big Baileys Coffee was the best ever. I would go back again with family but defo not a place to go with friends without children. We were a bit uncomfy just sitting there after out wine with all the kids about so we left & went down to the bar below.
Woods Restaurant - Closed
Main Street, Roundwood, Wicklow
Nice place to eat food is delicious. We live locally & I went for a Christmas dinner with some girlfriends some have eaten here before. We order off both menu & had the house wine wich was good. There was 6 of us & December was very cold & we were seated at the back door which the smokers use. The restaurant was not full & I think we could have been give a better table. We all had starters & mains there was a good gap between courses but we were chatting & didnt mind so much, most of us had steak & it was beautiful. Because of the seating time which are very bad even thought the place is not booked out & the fact that most of us had children we had to take the late sitting at 9.15, they could not accommodate us at 8 unless we wanted to take the very early sitting. Anyway buy the time out mains came & we ordered desert & tea / coffey the waiting staff were all standing behind us waiting for us to leave !! This was only shortly after 12. I like to linger over a nice meal & not feel rushed. I would go back as it is local but onlt at a push. The seating time do not suit at all & in these times I think they should be a little more accommodating. Over the Christmas I wanted to bring my husband as he loves steak but could not get a time we wanted so we went elsewhere. Worth a try if you live in the area but would not travel to it !
Synnott's Bistro @ The Parkview Hotel
Main Street, Newtown Mount Kennedy, Newtownmountkennedy, Wicklow
Came here with friends & had a great nite. Food was fab. Plenty of it (bit too much) Service was excelent & the value was amazing. I have booked a family meal here for my Dad birthday. Well worth many visits. Wine lis was ok
La Peniche @ RIASC
Barge Riasc, Mespil Road Jetty, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin
We had a social nite out here from work, all of us were expecting good things & the menu looked fab. 4 of us gave back starters which was pate, there was a thick layer of white greese on the top it was disgusting to look at. However the staff was very nice & exchanges it for us I got the chrozio salad which was not much better. The chicken was very dry & the mash freezing cold, some of the others got sausages & mash which was freezing aswell. I didnt even order desert. All in all & very disappointing meal. There they tried to charge us an extra €90 for fuel !! No would not recommended it & will not be going back all 15 of us was not happy !!
Cortina’s Mexican Restaurant
The Pembroke District, Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin
Had lunch here Saturday with 2 friends. It was nice & relaxed but they were not busy we started with cocktails at the bar they were ok but over priced not worth the money. The food was lovely & plenty of it. I would go back but not for a while
Sandyford Road, Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin
Had lunch here on Sat with 4 friends was a great day & a lovely place to eat very sociable. There was no rush & food was fab. The Peri Peri on anything was great spicey rice & the creamy mash was to die for. The only complaint we had was that we had to order at the till & pay in advanced and the second was our mains arrived when we still had our starters, but it was fine. The food was not expensive & the wine was price OK. The pino on the web page is cheaper than that priced on the auctual menu. All in all I would go back. Service was good we had a great waiter but a couple of the girls couldnt be bothered serving even when we asked for another bottle of wine we were told to order ourselves, but then our waiter came back & we ordered off him. Worth a visit.
Number 2, The Rear, Lower Kilmacud Road, Stillorgan, Dublin
Every time we booked this I could not make it so when I finally did go I was not disappointed it was fab, we went for an early bird on a Thursday. It was not packed. The service was brilliant & the food amazing. I totally enjoyed it & have nothing bad to say. Cant wait to go back. They now have a beautiful tapas bar at the back which I am dying to try. Well worth a visit & very in-expensive.
Port House Pintxo
12 Eustace Street, Dublin 2, Temple Bar, Dublin
Well what can I say I loved it. Was a great night delicious food & good wine. I went here on a Friday night with work & everyone enjoyed it. The service was grand it was a busy nite & towards the end we were waiting a while for drinks & deserts. The toilets are amazing the whole place has a great feel. Will defo be going back. Would not recommed the cocktails were over priced & not nice.
Purple Ocean Restaurant
St Michael's Pier, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin
We went here as a family for my father-in-law retirement dinner on a Sunday afternoon. We arrived at 2.30 & were seated right at the top. It was an extreamly hot day & all the top is glass the heat was unbearable. I have a 3 year old & a 6mth old, my sister in-law has a 1 year old. We did advise at the time of the booking that there was 3 children & we would need 2 highchairs. The was no air conditioning so they open a door which led outside we were not allowed out for insurance reasons, which was fair enough but my 3 year old was seated right at the door. We mover her seats & were given menu. We ordered our food & wine. The starters came after 45 min with the wine & was lovely. We then waited an hour & 15 minutes for out mains. My daughter had her meal with our starters the childrens menu is very poor & old has a choice of nuggets or sausages. She asked for nuggets I asked for potato & veg to be served with them, it arrived with chips. She never got the potato & the veg arrived with our mains which was an hour & 15 mins later. The high chairs were filthy & we had to clean the food off them with wipes. A few of us ordered steak & the waitress got all the orders mixed up. My brother in law got a steak which my husband had alreay started to eat. It was a complete mess, my lamb came it was delicious but the gravey & veg were freezing. My brother-in law asked for the pepper sause her ordered & it came 25 min later his meal was finished. My daughter waiter 3 hours for an ice cream. All in all very bad service although most of the food was nice. Would not be going back esp with children. They do not cater for children of any ages & when asked where the baby changing area was I was taken up to a very dark bar & given a chair ! Most of us left with headaches because of the heat.
The Chester Beatty Inn
Ashford, Ashford, Wicklow
Had Sunday lunch here with my husband, mother & 2 year old. We arrived at 2.30 & there was no menu food only carvery. I am not a fan of carvery but the weather was terrible so we stayed. The atmosphere was lovely big warm fire & not too crowed. The food was average very tired looking veg & pototes. Roast beef was delicious & you got plenty of it. We asked could we get fresh chips as I would not eat the pototes & the chef was lovely & put on fresh chips for us. My Mam & daughter ordered desert which took 20 min for someone to come out & tell us there was no apple pie then another 10 mins to get 1 scoop of ice cream. I ordered green tea I got the cup & teabag but no water lol. It was not expensive but would not go back to eat but would go back for a drink
Laragh, Glendalough, Wicklow
I love this restaurant, have eat here since I was a child when we went on day trips to Wicklow. I moved to the area 2 years ago & any chance we get we eat here. Food is delicious & fresh. We took my parents here in November for my Dads birthday & they loved it. We keep away on Sundays & bank holidays as they get very full & can be left waiting on a table (if you dont book) also the portions are a lot smaller, but during the week & evening is just a pure pleasure. Staff is fantastic & always cheerful.
The Old Candle
Main Street, Newcastle, Co Wicklow, Newcastle, Wicklow
We booked the Old Candle just after Christmas & was not disappointed. The steaks were amazing & cooked exactly the way we ordered, the whole meal was delicious. Thought it was a bit expensive but well worth the money. Great place to celebrate a special occassion. The service was flawless & you did not fell rushed or had to leave by a certain time. The bill was €110 for 2 of us. We both had starters, mains, bottle of wine & coffee so a wee bit expensive but will go back.
FIRE Restaurant and Lounge
Mansion House, Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Dawson Street, Dublin
Had decided we would book the early bird in Fire for dinner after Christmas shopping. We arrived at 5.20 & was seated immediatly by a very pleasent waitress. The food was delicious. I had pasta & my husband had steak which he said was cooked to perfection. There was a good range of food on the early bird, somthing for everyone. The wine list was extensive some wines been a bit expensive but very nice. We both had starters, mains, my husband had desert, Coffee, green tea & a bottle of wine for €80 which I though was good value. My only complaint was that it was extreamly cold in Fire. We asked the waitress was the heating on & she said yes but the heater we were seated next to was cold. All in all & lovely place & delicious food, will be going back over Christmas. Not a place for an romantic dinner for two but would be ideal for parties or get togethers.
Peploes Wine Bistro
16 St Stephen's Green, Dublin , City Centre South, Dublin
Had lunch here with 2 friends. Lunch was planned for a while & were really looking forward to it. We were not disappointed. The food was cooked perfectly, wine was excellent. Service was also very good. The only bad thing I could say was I thought the sauces were a bit too much very heavy & way too much of it. My friend had the lamb & was very under cooked. It was a bit pricey but very enjoyable & we will be back.
109 North Main Street, Wexford Town, Wexford
Have been meaning to post a review for months now. Was were in Wexford for a weekend on April with 3 friends. The Talbot hotel booked this for us, it was short notice but we got a table for 4 ok. When we arrived it was extremely busy but good atmosphere. We ordered, waitress was lovely, food was delicious we were starving & were thankful we had not a long wait. Good selection of wine as well. It was a bit dark & very hot but all in all very enjoyable meal & would go back when I am in Wexford again.
The Porterhouse (Bray)
Strand Road, Bray, Wicklow
I went here with my husband & daughter as the menu outside on the wall looked great. It was busy but we walked around & got a table just as a couple were leaving. My husband went up to get drinks as there seemed to be no waitress. We were there about 15-20 mins no waitress came over & we were still at a dirty table. There was 2 waitress talking to a couple at the bar, I went up to get a waitress she came down gave us completely different menus (bad choices)& told us the menu advertised was not been served today. We should have left then. She went off we had to call her back to ask could she take some of the empty dishes. She took 2 glasses & 3 main plates left the rest. My husband ordered a burger & I asked for a steak sambo & my daughter got chicken nuggets. Burger was nice, steak sambo was burned dry & full of gristle. Nuggets was very leathery & my daughter ate nothing. Chips were nice but you did not get a whole lot. The bill came to €40 extremely bad. Would not go back here if they were giving away the food.
The Roundwood Inn
Roundwood, Roundwood, Wicklow
Have moved to the area & this is by far the best place to eat in Roundwood. The staff are lovely. The food is slightly different but delicious & very fresh. A slightly older pub. The atmosphere here is lovely & relaxing especially on a rainy day as there is a big open fire at the end of the restaurant. Tables are big & not a lot of them. Would recommend a trip. Far better than the Coach House
Main Street , Ashford , Ashford, Wicklow
I have eat here before & found it delicious so had arranged to meet some friends here who have not eaten here before. The restaurant is beautiful, we had no table booked, but on arrival there was only 2 other tables in use. We asked for a table for 4 for about 7.45, 15 min later as the other couple had not arrived. The waitress was a little put out & said she would have to ask was a table available. This restaurant is quite big. After much flicking through the book & a long chat were were told yes we could have a table in 15 min. All 4 of us arrived in (still only 2 tables in use) were seated. Starters were lovely, for mains myself & hubby ordered beef dishes. The beef was slightly sour so we did not finish, the other couple had chicken & duck which was nice. Nothing special. There was no desert & 3 beers. The bill came to €135. Might try it again but was put off with the beef & the attitude when we arrived. We left at 9.30 & only 5 tables were in use.
Fillies Bar & Restaurant
Leopardstown Racecourse, Leopardstown, Dublin
Went to Fillies yesterday for lunch. Had called the day before to ask could we reserve a seat outside as the weather was beautiful, they couldnt promise but they would see what they could do. We arrived at 1 & a table for 5 was reserved for us. The service was fast even though they were very busy, the food delicious & plenty of it. It was all very fresh. I think the next time I will just get the Ceaser without the chicken as I was stuffed leaving. I dont think Fillies is expensive, you always leave feeling full. Will defo be going back.
The Yard Restaurant
3 Lower George Street, Wexford Town, Wexford
I was in Wexford for the weekend with my husband & parents, a lovely taxi man recommended the Yard & even called & booked it for us. We arrived at 7.30 and were seated immediately at a nice big table. Bread & water arrived at our table with 4 menus. The waiter was lovely very friendly as were all the staff. The food was excellent as was the wine. The atmosphere was very relaxing, around 8.30 it got quite busy. The staff still remained efficient & friendly. We were not rushed off the table even though there were people arriving without a booking. We had a lovely dessert, nice coffees & left at 9.45. Would recommend The Yard & would definitely be eating there the next time we go to Wexford. Was reasonably priced as well.
Siam Thai (Dundrum)
Dundrum Town Centre, South Dublin, Dundrum, Dublin
Have eat here a few time & always had a lovey meal, but the last time I did not enjoy it & was extremely disappointed, so when my friends suggested we have our Christmas lunch here I was a bit reluctant, but having said that the food was back on top & it was a lovely lunch. Still think its a little pricey but the food was delicious & the company even better ! We had 3 starters, 3 mains, 1 dessert 2 tea, 1 coffee & 2 bottles of wine for €150.00. The portions were medium size but enough for lunch.
The Coach House Pub & Restaurant
Roundwood, Roundwood, Wicklow
Have eaten here a good few times & every time we ask ourselves why we come back. The chef must have changed as the food went from ok to down right bad. The only thing I like on this menu is the duck spring roll. To eat here on a Sunday you have to wait on a table, if there are only 2 of you, you are asked to wait till a table for 2 is free regardless if there is a table of 4 free. We have a young child & there is no room to wait unless you sit at the already packed bar. Would recommend keeping away as there is much better restaurants / pubs in the area.
