Restaurant Reviews from Lindylu
Pings Chinese Restaurant (Wicklow)
The Mall Main st, Wicklow Town, Wicklow
Reviewed 11th August 2008 ( visited 05th August 2008 )I love this restaurant and am a regular there - the food is always tasty, good sized portions and extremely great value when compared to what other restaurants charge - especially their early bird menu - I think it's only 17 euro for a 3/4 course meal - and that's available till 7.30pm - it could even be 8pm (I can never remember!)
Avoca Handweavers restaurant
Kilmacanogue, Bray, Bray, Wicklow
Reviewed 20th August 2007 ( visited 20th August 2007 )I like meeting up with my friends here for tea or lunch since it's 1/2 way from where we all live. However no matter when you go be prepared to queue and to wait! Queues don't move quickly! The food is good but is on the pricey side. However there is always parking and it's always great to have a browse in the shop!
Main Street , Ashford , Ashford, Wicklow
Restaurant was very quiet for a Friday, although we were eating quite early so maybe it got busier later on. We went for the early bird menu. Lots of options on the menu but unlike other places I've been too, very strict if you wanted to change it - the only prawn dish on the menu had a very spicy sauce so I asked for it to be served with oyster sauce instead and was refused, was told there were no swaps on the early bird!!! Considering they weren't run off their feet, would expect them to be more accommodating. On saying that the food we ordered was delicious and very tasty.
The Kitchen @ Gorey
1-4 North Parade, Gorey, Wexford
Food is very tasty and well presented. Pizzas are to die for here, really thin base which I love! Only criticism is sometimes the menu is a bit limited especially if you don't like a certain ingredient and they use it on all their specials!
Riverwalk Lane, Arklow, Arklow, Wicklow
Sadly although the food any time I have been is good, the restaurant is nearly always empty, which means you get served promptly, but there is no atmosphere. Not sure why this is the case as the food is tasty. Have rated it only 3 for value as like all Indians, a complete meal ends up being much more than the average restaurant.
The Park Bistro
Fenbyrne House,, Castlepark, Arklow, Wicklow
Any time I visit the staff are always very welcoming, regardless of whether I'm with a friend or with my family (with 2 small kids!). Their lunch menu is very good value and the food tastes great. Portions are generous too.
Milano (Dun Laoghaire)
1 Harbour Square, Crofton Road, South Co. Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin
Went today for the lunch menu - 12.50 for a main course and drink. Probably better value if you have a glass of wine/beer but I stuck to the mineral. I had the salad with the goats cheese & chicken which was nice but not a huge amount. My husband had the pizza which he said was nice but he'd had better. Our waiter was friendly if a little too effusive - came over a bit too much for our liking - at one stage he asked if we'd like another drink even though we both had practically full glasses. Service was quick but probably because we were early and so there weren't that many in the restaurant. Overall ok

Love eating in this bar - staff are friendly, food is always tasty and if ordering hot food, arrives hot. Portions are great sizes and prices are good.
The Loft Restaurant & Bar
At The 56 Pub, Main Street, Arklow, Wicklow
It's been a while since I've ate in the restaurant so can't comment on that, but I regularly eat in the bar and find the food there to be very tasty, portions are a good size and the price is good for what you get.
5 Main Street, Arklow (above JK's pub), Arklow, Wicklow
This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. We've been here a few times, but there is a restaurant in Wicklow which I think has better tasting food. However what you're paying for here is the setting, the silver service, attentive staff. Presentation of the dishes are very nice, but a bit on the small side, although the flavours on the whole aren't too bad and fairly authentic. They have an early bird which makes it reasonably affordable though.

A group of nine of us went for Sunday lunch and although we had heard good reports of Dobbins, were disappointed after our experience. The weather was very hot and we were seated in the back area which had a lot of glazing. Apparently their awning had a fault so they couldn't let down the blinds to give any shade at the back so we were in the blazing heat. Everyone was so hot to the point of uncomfortable. The food was mediocre compared to other establishments I've been too especially for the price paid. I asked for the prawn cocktail starter with the dressing to be served on the side only for the waitress to come and say it wasn't possible as it had already been made up - I have never experienced this before!! Also I asked for my main course, the panfried salmon to be grilled yet when it arrived it so obviously had been fried as it was dripping in oil. My husband asked for a well done steak only for it to be quite pink in the middle and one of the other guys in our party had the pork belly and 1/3 of it was fat. Most of the party thought the mains were okay but nothing to rave about. For our wine selection they also didn't have the one we chose, which they should have mentioned before we ordered and not after we had made the choice. Also, although it seems very popular for families don't bring your baby in a pushchair or you'll end up having to lift it over rows of tables if seated at the back as they certainly cram the tables in - there's only room for one person to pass through so it's single file only, you have to give way to oncoming traffic!! The only saving grace was the dessert which was quite tasty. Unfortunately because of our experience I won't be going back there or recommending to friends.
Bits and Pizzas
15 Patrick Street, Dun Laoghaire, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin
This is a great place to go, their pizzas especially are so tasty, although can be a bit pricey if you want the larger size. Also you probably need to book in advance as they do get packed out. Service is always good and the waitresses friendly.
N Joy Cafe
7 Anglesea Bldgs, Dun Laoghaire, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin
Great place to go for lunch. Food tastes great, is healthy and not too pricey. The scones and croissants are just to die for if you're in need of a tea/coffee break! Busy at lunch time though so you would want to go early to be guaranteed a seat!

17 Railway Road, South Co. Dublin, Dalkey, Dublin
This is a great place to go either as a couple or with a group of friends. Yes, the prices are on the high side, but the food is well worth every penny in my opinion. Staff here are very friendly. I had a group booking and ended up with 2 more people than planned and the staff were very accommodating - even apologising to us for keeping us waiting while they arranged the seating!
Havana Tapas Bar
Georges Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin
I've been here a few times with friends, and each time I keep thinking it'll get better. It's always packed, and I'm not sure why. The food can be very greasy and the portions are small. If you just want some snacks to go with your drinks then you'll be fine, but if you're starving go somewhere else or you could end up spending a fortune! A jug of sangria seems like good value, but you probably won't taste much alcohol! Service is very hit and miss, depending on who's serving you that night.
Palazzos - Closed
1 Marlborough Terrace, Strand Road, Bray, Wicklow
If you haven't been here yet, then you have to go! The food is tastes great, portions are on the larger side and it's good value for money. Be warned though the place is always busy and so you could end up waiting for a while so book in advance. I have tried everything from the salads to pizzas to pastas to the meat dishes and have never been disappointed yet!
63/65 Main Street, Blackrock, Blackrock, Dublin
This restaurant is definitely at the higher end, prices are expensive. However, I would definitely recommend going here for the special occasion. The food is of a very high standard and tastes divine... I guess you always get what you pay for. Service is very discreet and I couldn't fault it. This is more "fine dining" so if you're looking for a place with a lot of noise, this is not for you!
Toscana (Dun Laoghaire)
5 Windsor Terrace, South Co. Dublin , Dun Laoghaire, Dublin
I have been here many times as I absolutely love the food... the pizzas especially are so thin and delicious. The pasta sauces are very tasty too. Price wise they are average, but I think it's good value because the food served is of good quality. The only downside is if you go in a large group, service can be a bit on the slow side, but other than that the staff are nice and friendly.
66 Georges Street Upper, South Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin
Working in Dun Laoghaire I go here every week. The lunch menu they have on offer is such great value. The staff are very friendly and always remember your usual way of eating, i.e. with chopstick, with/without bowl etc. As another reviewer said, the food is not covered in the thick sauces that westerners like, much more authentic. The a la carte menu in the evening is slightly higher than average, but the food is well worth it!
The Real Gourmet Burger - Dun Laoghaire
The Pavilion, South Dublin, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin
REAL burger is the one place where you get very tasty burgers. They have lots of different options, which I'm working my way through. Sometimes the service is a bit hit & miss, as in you could be waiting for someone to take your order, but I guess it's because they are so busy and popular! Their chips are too die for - nicely browned, fat & chunky! The rosemary salt on them is just heavenly. If you haven't tried it yet, I definitely recommend it.
