Our meal at Il Vignardo was fantastic. It was definitely and undeniably one of the most delicious and amazing meals either of us have ever eaten. Upon arrival, we were greeted by our waitress for the evening who was nothing but pleasant and mannerly and gave us a choice of table as it was fairly quiet. The restaurant is beautifully set up and the atmosphere and design are lovely for a romantic dinner but also for a nice night out with friends. The restaurant is laid out in roman-gothic style with large pillars, low-lying ceiling and due to the spacing it feels as if you're in a different country and takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the city, especially as the restaurant is hidden-away so well from everything within the Beresford Hotel like a little cavern. The restaurant has a good selection of options on its set menu but we opted for individual options on the La Carte menu instead. On the set menu you can get 2 courses for €17.50 or 3 for €20 but it is clearly worth going the extra mile and opting for the 3 course meal as the additional course is well worth the money for the sake of a few Euros. Instead of following traditional patterns of ordering the starter followed by the main and then the dessert we chose to have a main accompanied by a selection of sides and later on a dessert. I had the spinach and ricotta tortellini with a side of creamy mash, and my boyfriend had the pizza vegetariana with a side of shoestring fries, and we got a side of battered onion rings for the table between us. When the food arrived we realised that we got way too much as the portions were very filling (and fulfilling!) and in the end we couldn't resist the enticing and vast selection of desserts. I chose the profiteroles while my boyfriend went for a delightful chocolate fondant. The food was so beautifully cooked it is indescribable until you taste it. It is our favourite restaurant and we strongly urge everyone to visit Il Vignardo!!! :)

Our server seemed pleasant enough but overall quite reserved and inattentive. She was polite but it was a little forced. She was running the whole bar by herself and also serving all of the tables which to be fair to her she did promptly and without hesitation. The food was relatively tolerable at the beginning. My partner and I both ordered the spinach and ricotta tortellini which we had both had a handful of times in other restaurants and it had been beautiful. Unfortunately for us this dish was extremely creamy and covered in cheese and heavy toppings which made our stomachs plummet downwards until it felt as if we were almost dragging them alongside our feet. Safe to say we weren\'t feeling brave enough to try a dessert front this particular establishment. After every bite we had to keep drinking to stop ourselves from thinking we would be sick, the pasta was just so dry. We literally could not stay in the restaurant,at the very end I told my boyfriend I thought I was going to be sick. I think that we were generous to give it a score of two. I think the atmosphere was lovely so that is the reason for the higher score. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and I will definitely never eat here again.
