Mulberry Garden
Mulberry Lane, (directly behind the Bang & Olufsen Store), Dublin 4, Donnybrook, Dublin

Two choices for starter; two choices for main; two choices for dessert - all for EUR 40 and with a cracking wine / beer / cocktail list to boot. This place is a real little gem and the food and service is top class. Very fresh, innovative and undeniably Irish. An absolute must and refreshing Recession Buster! Book early to avoid disappointment as we had to wait 3 weeks for Thursday night booking.

Wongs of Castleknock
Ashleigh Centre, Main Street, Dublin 15, Castleknock, Dublin

Can be hit and miss sometimes; but when it's good, it's really good! Also, some dishes are over priced so check before ordering. They also do takeway at a discount of sit-down price. Have never been disappointed with take-away as they give generous portions and re-make it from scratch even if you are late to collect!!!

Stoop Your Head
Harbour Road, Skerries, Skerries, Dublin

Fish & Chips are great here - service can be slow as v. popular. Best to get a seat outside in the sun and kick back and enjoy!

Cafe Topolis
37 Parliament Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

Ate hear before the Olympia. Cheap and cheerful. Hit the spot. Starter was poor but pizzas were excellent. Efficient and friendly service. Would recommend for eating on the go (but agree that there are better Italians in the City).

Boulevard Cafe
27 Exchequer Street, Dublin 2 , City Centre South, Dublin

Best place in town for large parties! Really fun atmosphere with cheap and cheerful food that is tasty and not too expensive. Highly recommend for big group.

ely gastro bar
Grand Canal Square, (Next to the Bord Gais Energy Theatre), Dublin 2, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin

Have been here for dinner and lunch; avoid lunchtime!!! They cannot function within 30-40min turnaround and food is either cold, not what you ordered or disappointing (e.g. Burger). Dinner was marginally better; although very overpriced. Am surprised by the above reviews. This place hasn't hit the ground running. In fact, it's fallen flat on its face and gives you a hefty bill at the end of it!

Lannigans Restaurant
Quality Hotel Dublin City, Sir John Rogersons Quay, Dublin 2, City Centre South, Dublin

This is at the back of the Foyer in the Quality (which has a good hot food counter in the bar and cheap & cheerful lunch menu in the foyer). I was disappointed with the food as small pies etc. Good value for salads and wraps but would still go to the bar or foyer before heading into Lannigans. Need to shake up the menu.

Pizza Stop
6/10 Chatham House, Chatham Lane, Off Grafton Street, City Centre South, Dublin

Don't let the name fool you; this is THE No1 place for a pizza in town; quick, tasty and cheap. You can have starters, mains and a couple of beers for two for about €40. Perfect.
